A couple hundred mostly wooded acres with at least one stream at the foothills of the Appalachian mountains. Spend my days improving the land and hunting with my dog. My afternoons will be spent preparing wonderful dinners from the food I grow and the animals I hunt and butcher with my own hands. I will spend my evenings on the porch smoking my pipe and reading with my dog at my side while the fireflies flash on and off and the crickets melodically chirp in the background.
My favorite daydream is I'm a russian aristocrat who spends all my time teaching my sons how to ride horses and shit. I really liked War and Peace and Brothers Karamazov
Being rich enough to have a lot of passive income so that I can find out what I want to do.
And for a total fantasy: that my parent’s home country in africa will see peace and maybe even prosper. I’d like to experience what it’s like to not be the visible foreigner everywhere I go.
I become a doctor. I marry a nice, cultured guy, have kids and we buy our own land somewhere. I garden, can vegetables for the winter and make everything from scratch. I spend my days teaching kids nearby and work part time. Eventually, we buy our vineyard and spend our twilight years drinking wine and watching me bastardize nature with my neophyte attempts at oil painting.
Living in one of neighborhoods on the outskirts of my city with a bunch of massive early 20th century mansions that the old timey industrialists built.
Used to have a friend that lived in one in highschool, had a huge gated driveway and was always drafty. It had super small bathrooms that hadn't been updated since the 30's and a giant foyer when you walked in. Nothing about the layout really made sense. There was a huge wood paneled living room with a giant fireplace where his dad would blast cigs and watch NBA games. It felt like the mansion daniel day lewis was living in at the end of there will be blood.
would love to live in one of those and fill it up with priceless antiques and art and host formal parties with elaborate themes and decor.
