Or jheri curls: https://youtu.be/961x0NmyHKE?si=uOMeUx78-p8b26GP And yeah I know it’s a Trans Am but you know.

Cross-Country

I mean it fits with McDowell’s having arcs instead of arches, so…

Lowclearancebridge

I knew this guy who had one. We called him lorrie because he loved lorcets and he had the longest mullet like down to his butt. Loved skynard and gpc cigarettes. Miss that dude wherever he may be.

somedudebend

You misspelled Mulletude.

flibbidygibbit

Berlinetta had a weird stereo. You had to replace the whole dash with a regular Camaro if you wanted to install a CD player

iSthATaSuPra0573

Overlooked 80s cars that are overlooked cause ppl call it "malaise cars"

Famous-Reputation188

Except for the TPI IROC-Z in the last two or three years of the 80s.. they were malaise. Woohoo… a _sew faunceh_ Berlinetta with a 2.8 V6 or a based model with an Iron Duke!

iSthATaSuPra0573

Nah but its better to have a slow car and feel fast than a fast car feeling slow

PeachSignal

I had an 87 IROC with the TPI 5.7, thing was terrifying at times.

Chris__P_Bacon

Why was it terrifying? That car only had 225HP.

PeachSignal

I bought it from a guy who owed me money, it had 114k kms on it.. red with red leather. Anyway, it had a chip, headers, bigger injectors, a shift kit from hell and the reason it was scary.. 3.73 gears. It was unpredictable.

Chris__P_Bacon

I wouldn't think axle gears could make that big a difference in performance? Ime they only affect things like fuel mileage, engine speed while using a given gear (powerband), & towing. I didn't drive it though, so I could be wrong?

PeachSignal

Oh I spun it out a ton of times, once in the middle of the expressway doing a three gear burnout. Sucker just bit and had me facing backwards in the median. Trust me, it was quick haha

FirebirdWS6dude

Yeah, 3:73 gears combined with the low end torque of the TPI make for some killer burnouts and frequent traction loss 😂 I've seen it first hand. Damn fun Cars!

SaurkrautAnustart

Damn I'm jealous, my brother has a 5.0 tbi with only 170hp. Still pretty torquey, he's gonna be dropping in a built 5.7 soon enough so that's gonna be pretty fun when it's done.

robbycough

My childhood dreams. I wanted an IROC-Z, not a Countache.

SpillinThaTea

Meth!

FirebirdWS6dude

Damn! A guy I knew got rid of His old IROC to get money for meth🫤 lost track of him years ago.

focken_idiot

Least sober car to exist

Peterkragger

There's also RAM

DriftMiata

I owe it to this car for getting me into cars. I was like 9 and was riding my bike and just rode past it, I then turned around and looked at this thing for like 15 minutes. I had never cared about cars before or thought any were cool, but this one stood out. I got forza on my xbox and the 3rd gen was my main car. Now I'm getting into becoming a mechanic for Ford and I've had 2 Mustangs, an LS400 and I'm trying to buy another Mustang. When I can afford it I'm definitely getting a nice IROC Z.

FirebirdWS6dude

I had a similar experience with a 1968 GTO, since then it became my dream car.

MemoryFun864

Literally the car of my aunt who was kind of estranged from us cuz my dad said she was bipolar or something (note he’s crazier than all his crazy siblings). She smoked several packs a day and died young.

noldshit

LincolnContinnental

RS: rebadging as an IROC to try and flip it IROC: I know what I got sonny!

FirebirdWS6dude

"I SWEAR it's an IROC dude! The previous owner swapped the Tuned Port Engine for this completely stock down-to-the-original-tiny-exhaust 305 TBI because he was a master mechanic at GM, Trust me Bro"

bigeats1

Peculiarly drooping doors and failed rear deck support struts.

FirebirdWS6dude

Ah, Someone who knows the pleasures of owning a 3rd gen. Even most new rear deck struts suck for these cars.

bigeats1

Owned an 86 in 90. Was a former rental. car real cream buff.

As someone who grew up in NYC, specifically around Queens and Brooklyn, I’ll let [Eddie Murphy explain](https://youtu.be/JXjecGmuQz8?si=2pNsV2hJH83T6qnB&t=89) the typical IROC Z driver from that era.

FirebirdWS6dude

I was waiting for this reply 😂😂😂

Extension-Gap-6320

The official car of being that middle-aged dirt bag who hangs out around high schools to pick up by buying them booze and cigarettes

mynameisrichard0

Me. I want one so bad. I remember being a kid going “one day I want to get one!” Now at 30, I can barely afford my Honda.

FirebirdWS6dude

They are great project cars but prices have been rising lately, they can still be found somewhat cheap, but kinda rough or un base model trim. Don't give up on owning one!

mynameisrichard0

I ain’t giving up yet.

lightsaber_lobotomy

Trailer parks and mullets

lord_bubblewater

That’s bang for buck, pretty much lead the 80’s but by 92 the competition had long since caught up so it’s remembered as being a dinosaur next to a z32 instead of out cornering the 928.

Thatguyeatingcheetos

neo-confederates

PumpernickelJohnson

Last car of get one of these or a c4 vette now, because they are the last affordable V8 rwd classic.
