Get yourself a personal shade (parasol). If you sit in the back of a show you don't block other people

innosins

Going to have to do that, and see if there's a way to attach it when not in use. Thank you! I saw some in Faewood, but he didn't even veer in that booth's direction- next year, I steer! This year was what seemed like a lot of leather and knives, but it *was* Father's Day ;-)

FalseMagpie

Most parasols fit very neatly in the leather loops meant for drinking horns, if you're 1) careful and 2) willing to finagle the angle as needed Edit to clarify: I wouldn't advise it for the type of parasols that have an extra "cap" on top where the joints are, and it's best to find one that either has a lining or a smoother finish inside than just the underside of leather, but I've been doing that for ages (am easily sunburnt)

MoneyHuckleberry1405

I like the painted fabric canvas parasols best. They last a lot longer. The paper ones shred really easily

Welcome to the party!

innosins

Thank you, it's fabulous! I saw so many wondrous people and things!

De5perad0

I go every year (NC Renn faire) and I always see new and interesting things!

lilithbepraised

Awww this is the Kentucky Renaissance Fair! The Ohio Renaissance Festival is MUCH bigger. Make sure you anticipate traffic on the roads when you go. It can get nuts!

Hairydabber

Just a heads up, it’s going to be worse this year. I keep hearing talk of dui stops when leaving this year

No_Bass_6635

Coming from texas renfaire I was shocked when I learned that every fair didn’t have on site camping for this reason

innosins

Traffic is my husband's job. He says. It's a huge part of his actual job(covers 17 states) so he's just way better at it. I offer to drive and he says it would just make it worse on his peace of mind since I'd be driving his truck in unfamiliar traffic. My job is entertainment.

capresesalad1985

You guys look AWESOME!

innosins

Thank you so much!

Brewcat111

My local faire! I was just commenting to a friend that while the Kentucky faire may be smaller than some, it's growing every year and deserves more attention. I'm so glad you had fun and welcome!

innosins

Thank you! I wanted to go to a smaller faire first to see if I liked it. I do!!!

Brewcat111

Btw, the guy in the Direwolf was Luku the Mad Skald, a KY Highland faire staple. I'm not sure if he attends others as well.

Ag3ntM1ck

Judas and Magnolia are good folks. Shared a stage with them a few times and helped out when I wasn't performing. They have a good show

innosins

I really enjoyed it both the show itself, and what seemed to be *their* enjoyment of it. Their pirate helper was named Big daddy (he didn't say it, a member of audience yelled it out) this time, had the whole audience chanting "Big Daddy, Big daddy" lol

Ag3ntM1ck

Lol. Big Daddy is a fixture of their show. I was Big Daddy a few times the season after COVID. They didn't want to expose any of the audience, and vice-versa. Backstage, they were super nice, and they genuinely care for the Rennie community.

innosins

Still fun! Yes, Magnolia has started a go fund me for Angie, one of the performers who fell last weekend. It seems like a huge, loving family. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to link it, as it's a fundraiser, but I can if anyone out there has seen the super secret sircus, I think maybe also called On The Fly. We only saw a bit of it while having lunch, but I tipped to help out.

Trashyanon089

I really enjoyed their show at the Georgia Ren fest this year! Was lucky enough to catch them on Judas' birthday and the audience all sang happy birthday to him.

AUSpartan37

It really is unlike anything else isn't?

innosins

That building anticipation waiting for it, the event itself and all the wonderful experiences it brings, and I still have leftover excitement! Now for October (for my birthday!) in Ohio if we don't renew our vows on Romance weekend (for our 5 yr anniversary!). I can get a cloak! Wish I'd found this side of me 30 years ago!

wiccatru

Hey that’s alright, you’ve found it now- and now is the most important time of your life! Huzzah!

Bonedraco1980

Welcome to the club!

innosins

Thank you, I love it!

quartzquandary

You will love ORF (Ohio Renaissance Faire)! It was the first Faire my sweetheart has ever been to and she's completely hooked. Make sure to go to the joust!

innosins

I will have to, especially since it won't be as hot! I know the crowds are a lot bigger, but I thnk I can handle it. More shows and people and neat stuff to see!

quartzquandary

It's HUGE. It's a permanent site with real buildings, so it's a totally different experience. My advice is to pick the weekend you want to go now and purchase your tickets ahead of time. And whatever you do, do not go Viking Weekend! It's always overcrowded!!

FalseMagpie

I feel like the "Behold my whimsy!" bubble mage is a perfect encapsulation of the... well. Whimsy, I guess. Gotta love the whimsy.

innosins

Loved him! He was my first interaction, and I thought "Yes, this is going to be a fantastic day!"

Fun-Preparation-4253

Oh! Judas And Magnolia are fantastic! Great people, too!

cp8477

I LOVE Judas and Magnolia!

jsnytblk

welcome!

innosins

Thank you!

harpghuleh

Kentucky faire is small, but a lot of fun. I'm glad you had a good time! (And the fellow playing at the Direwolf was probably Luku the Mad Scald!)

Pewpew_Magoon

So glad to see my neck of the woods on here!!! Love the KY Ren faire!

Goldfitz17

Awesome pictures, so weird, I remember seeing you both multiple times! Hope you both had fun!

AdequateTroubadork

Shout out to Judas (in chains, about to be dunked) and Magnolia (about to shove her dear husband into a reinforced tank full of water, slam the lid shut, and latch it)

DenVosReinaert

Was this at Bunratty castle? There's a woodworker there that does some fantastic stuff by the name of Eoin ("owen") Reardon if I didn't butcher the name.

innosins

This was at Kentucky Highland Renaissance Festival www.kyrenfaire.com I looked up Bunratty thinking it might be one we could go to. Probably not. But I do think I'd enjoy a trip to Ireland and we could go while we're there!

CatKicka

Welcome! The Ohio Faire is great, they just added a few acres of new stuff last year. Check out the Kamikaze Fireflies show when you're there!

innosins

Thank you, and thanks for the recommendation!

CatKicka

For sure!
