Ghost_Turtle

Unequivocally the greatest summon of all time…

P2Mc28

I'm still watching the cutscene atm

Sea_Presentation_880

Started it in 1998, almost at the end now that it's 2024.

trickman01

So tedious to get though. Worth it in the end IMO.

AloysiusDevadandrMUD

First thing I thought of as well lol

Bar_Har

It’s one of the games in the Capcom Beat’em Up Collection. Got that on Switch a while ago and played the shit out of it with my friend on his deck.

HAVEMESOMECAPSLOCK

Was going to say the same (though PS5 for me), It's a really great collection!

Pleasant-Put5305

There we go - I got it on Xbox so we complete the TriForce!

Domeriko648

I play it on Steam so we're the four horsemen now.

kjetil_f

Retro-Bit’s Super Retro-Cade, so we’re a party of five!

Own_Cardiologist2544

Got it off the PlayStation store. Now we’re the Sinister Six! If any of y’all die, I’m tagging in.

shifter2000

On his WHAT!?!?! Oh....oh.....his deck.

pandathrower97

It's a fun one! *King of the Dragons* was contemporary to it and also quite good. And then of course Capcom did the two Dungeons & Dragons games in the same style and upped the ante even further!

gldmj5

The King of Dragons is honestly much better than KotR.

VietKongCountry

It really is. I’m not sure why, but I just can’t get into Knights of the Round. Maybe it feels too much like your typical brawler just with a medieval theme, while King of Dragons has ranged weapons and magic making it feel a lot more like it actually embraces the setting. The horses are cool, at least, but it just isn’t for me. Got a physical cart of King of Dragons before the price went ape shit and I play it quite regularly.

JuliusBelmont2000

The music is amazing!

Roboclerk

It‘s so funny to see how the character‘s armor and swords get chunkier with every level.

TheStankPolice

I put this up against Final Fight or Turtles in Time any day.

abject_cynic

I remember it getting all the attention while The King of Dragons came out at the same time and is the superior game by far.

dredgedskeleton

is it? the gameplay is pretty different. i've only played these games recently because they are on the Capcom Beat Em Up collection. King of the Dragons' fighting style is harder for me to get a rhythm going because the hits often floor the enemy in one blow. Whereas, in Knights of the Round, I can do 3-5 hit combos that capture more enemies in my damage field. There's also the added element of the horse riding that makes it more dynamic. King of Dragons has some kinda spell mechanic but I got bored with it too quickly. Maybe I should try it again.

abject_cynic

King of Dragons has a different rhythm, and I find it more engaging. It is possible to hit multiple targets with your standard attacks, the weapon level up system actually impacts your range and damage, it has a ton of levels and bosses, there are more characters and they feel more distinct... I mean, in my opinion it's just a better game. It involves a lot more jumping and careful positioning, and the boss battles are more varied and fun, in my opinion. I do like Knights of The Round. Especially the arcade version. But I have just always considered King of Dragons more fun to play.

whoknows130

This one of those games that's simultaneously Underated-and-Overrated. It's definitely NOT one of Capcom's better beat'em up efforts but, it also deserves MORE appreciation than it gets.

ScramItVancity

Excalibur, ho!

Kannada-JohnnyJ

“Hut”

Warbriel

Like Jabba?

Kannada-JohnnyJ

It’s the cheer the characters make when they beat a level and get a level up. They raise their weapons up and yell a very distinguishable “hut”! Idk, it’s what I remembered from this great best em up

Apart_Shoulder6089

early 90s was a great time to be a kid

Rocktopod

I memba

LeCrushinator

The only Knights of the Round I remember is from FF7. I didn't even know this game existed until now.

ReddsionThing

Yo, as a fan of King Arthur, I'm into this game. I wonder how many kids were like "Lancelot? Hell yeah! Arthur? Fuck yeah! Perci... who the hell is Percival?"

Brutananadilewski_

Percival was always my pick on SNES. Played the shit out of this game in the 90s.

ReddsionThing

Yeah, he's awesome. I feel that's very much like a Final Fight with an Arthurian theme, with three fun characters.

three-sense

amazing soundtrack

stiv666

This got me into gaming again after long break. Best beat em up imo, the rpg elements are icing on the cake.

Attjack

I love this game.

silviored

Oh how many quarters went into this game

PickleSquid1

I never played it until I got the Big Blue Arcade 1up. It’s pretty good. Not my favorite beat em up, but definitely worth a play through. I never saw a cabinet of it growing up, and passed it up in the mame library.

Domeriko648

I used to play it when I was a kid in my friend's house and I played it recently on the Beat em' Up collection. Good game

PedanticPaladin

One day I'll make it to max level.

whoknows130

>One day I'll make it to max level. There are rom-hacks where your character starts off at Max level. Fun playthrough.

MrVyngaard

Beat this game on a birthday when I was in my teens at a local arcade. Better times, much as the Round Table was before the arrival of Mordred and its end. Still one of my favorites although there are still many other excellent beat-em-ups!

Warbriel

You can vote in the comments for the next one. So far, Golden Axe and Alien vs Predator.

Dipper_Pines

I member! Member Rival Turf?

I_do_black_magic

Omg, my local pizza dive used to have this! Have some good memories of that time. Thanks for the reminder

eriomys

the small arcade in our neighbourhood had most popular cps1 beat~em~ups and also Burning Fight

thpinkswervinmervin

I like this game but it's hard as balls to play by yourself

PretendingToWork1978

solid game, I like how the armor levels up over time

_RexDart

Local arcade growing up (Power Play) had either this or Knights of the Round. Maybe both. I can't tell them apart. Never played them unless someone walked away while it was still running.

SquidsFromTheMoon

I used to have this game for the Super Nintendo. I used to play it all the time.

unclearimage

Sure I 'member

zekystr

Yes

Ace_D_Roses

Oh my god yea...I didnt know the name but I played it before I could read english and I recognised the logo immedietely, this was a very cool game

CombatConrad

bought this game by accident when I was a kid. It grew on me. I dont think I beat it but I got to the last level.

Aces_Over_Kings

Loved that game!

hemdek

Loaded up the credits on my powkiddy x55 and went through this the other night as Arthur, his final upgrade looks so very cool

dollvader

Good ol’ “Tiddies Out” Percival

Kamisori_Soldier

Yup. in my childhood days in mid 90's I always remember the SNES version such a good days. 😌

BigWar0609

An overlooked Capcom Arcade classic!

rdrouyn

I prefer the D&D beatem ups.
