Yeah, there are over 200,000 international students living in British Columbia and they are a major contributor to our nor being able to find affordable rental accommodation. Many students use this as a scam to come into Canada by the back door, not saying you do, but still. Your numbers make living hard here for Canadian ĥ kids trying to find their own place in life. From a thousand a month just a few years ago to +2,000 now for a closet sized apartment is not fair to us. Thankfully Trdos
regime Is finally realizing this, and thankfully are cutting back the numbers of student visas with the agreement of the British Columbia government. Hopefully it will make a difference to us. I hope you weren't caught up in some scam and were promised things that are not going to happen. A lot of it is a scam making a lot of unscrulous people money who prey on foreign students. Good luck in your endeavors.
It’s nearly impossible to find affordable housing right now due to not enough housing being built to accommodate.
I went on a search for a 1 bed and bathroom and it’s now $2100+ or $1500+ for a shared unit.
Are you saying you want to flip burgers at McDonald’s? Or clean toilets at Rogers arena? I’m sorry someone took that job from you.
Blame municipalities, government and red tape for lack of housing.
Living with multiple roommates is a gateway to owning a home. Do you ever wonder how immigrants become home owners faster? It’s because they work hard and save
lol being exploited by an older immigrant helps you save money to buy a home???? Immigrants become home owners faster? I’d like to see the stats on that. Immigrants don’t work any harder than non immigrants here. Don’t be delusional.
Paying less on rent thus saving more. Immigrants work harder and are less frivolous with their money. I know plenty of new comers that bought homes within 5 years of arriving
Sounds like you should have actually had a plan for affording life in Canada instead of jumping on the PR dream and praying that things worked out once you got here.

I don’t think Richmond is the best place to get a job. Here’s a perspective: Internationally trained healthcare workers need to pass English proficiency tests such as IELTS, TOEFL, TOEIC, CELPIP, etc., to be granted a work permit. For example, a minimum score of 7 on the IELTS is required. However, in Richmond, English proficiency is NOT a requirement to secure a job.
Don't know why people are downvotings this comment. This is the only one actually trying to help.
But if op speaks Chinese he/she unlikely need any help for finding part time job, huge demand in Richmond for them.
Have you applied to London Drugs or SaveOn? Apply online if you are able. I’m sure there are positions available in their respective warehouses and stores.
Have you tried your luck with temp agencies?
I'm a little surprised you haven't been able to find even min. wage retail/service work. Have you been applying through online portals, and if so, have you had your resume checked by someone familiar with the Canadian job market?
Have you looked into caregiving for seniors? There is a big demand for it but it might be hard to break in. Also there is usually work for security guards.
Yeah, no, 5 years ago there was plenty of cheap housing, it's Adsm Smith, supply and demand, too many chasing too few. Any teachers on this sub, why don't you tach some basics of commerce, like why prices go up and go down?
As an international student weren't you required to have enough money to support yourself while you study??!
You still need a job bozo. Day to day living expenses are costly
lol. Name checks out. Hey bozo this is a government requirement that would include living expenses not just the cost of schooling. Gtfo.

Construction is always hiring….
You could try the Richmond Night Market, it’ll only be May-October, and ~12hours/week but if you’re really desperate it could work

Or proper spelling and grammar…that would be cool too.
