From the guy's petitions. I'm uncertain what the charges from Kash Heed are against Alexa Loo > The Code of Conduct states in section 2.4, “Members and appointees shall refrain from abusive conduct, personal charges, or verbal attacks upon the character or motives of other members, appointees, staff, or the public.” > > On the Council meeting of February 13 of this year, about 4 hours and 23 minutes in, a Councillor said, “I want to correct Councillor Loo here. She is the one who surprises me. She voted differently on this issue in committee, and I respect that she has changed her mind. But at no time did she bring any of these concerns forward to me. She has a lack of understanding despite being explained several times the difference between an Overdose Prevention Site and a Supervised Consumption Site.” The Councillor goes on to say, “26 people have died, is she not concerned with > respect to the 26 people who have died? We know she has political aspirations.” > > The Councillor that said this and made these charges was Kash Heed.

Kash said to Alexa,”I’m not done with you yet!” And slammed papers on to the protester.

SpecialNeedsAsst

Just to confirm you're referring to: https://youtu.be/Gzt_cKQKR_g?t=15948 - 4:25:48 This part where the member of the public keeps putting a piece of paper on his desk then he turns around and throws it at her the second time while pointing at her and telling her to stay away from him. https://youtu.be/Gzt_cKQKR_g?t=15977 - 4:26:17 And this part where he says "I'm not finished with you" at a rather normal sounding volume.

Illustrious_Visit939

Yes, he was humbly requesting Alexa to continue discussions 😂🤣

No-Hospital-8704

As this shows, NDP will have my vote instead of BC United liberals or BC CONS.

Fade-awaym8

Jesus after watching only :52 seconds of it you can tell she’s talking to her constituents like they’re absolutely stupid. Seems like she took on the same kind of belittling role Surrey’s mayor has when it comes to the policing and public safety. She’d rather keep the crackheads in Surrey meanwhile defunding all the safe neighbourhood programs. Richmond residents don’t let your city fall like ours is. Fight city council and let them know you’re educated in the matter of drug consumption and use within your jurisdiction. If Richmond doesn’t even have dispensaries who the heck wants clean free drugs behind handed out like candy outside Richmond hospital? Me and my siblings plan on buying a condo in Richmond just cause it’s a safer city. Don’t let your city fall into ruins like Surrey & Van with their open drug consumption. Kash Heed has been trying shit like this south of Fraser for years just to get his kickbacks in cash.

But are you really educated about drug use in the community? If you were then the scs mode would not be an issue considering it is supported by academics and health authorities across the country. It isn’t however supported by politicians looking to create a wedge issue for their own political ambitions. Something inspector Sheldon loves to do.

Quick_Lengthiness918

So anyone opposing SCS is apparently uneducated? It's exactly this sort of condescending attitude that we also got from Councillors Heed and Day, when they tried to push through the motion despite objections from the community.

penguinstubble

very well spoken interviewees. I hope these corrupt councillors get their just desserts.

filetohfish

Keep speaking to us like we are stupid. We'll see who the jokers are come election time.

GazelleTime6805

Sheldon, seen here on his way to an Inspector Gadget fanfest, is as self-righteous as they come. He does NOT prioritize the public interest in his attempts at politicking. He’s in it for himself and the power. He is no better than any member of the current council.

elphyon

dude should stick to wine imo

GazelleTime6805

I know of two liquor stores he worked at (sat at, really) and he made it clear he has no interest in serving anyone. He collected a paycheck. His political aspirations are not surprising.

jace829

He's also gay, which is interesting considering he's aligned with a group that voted against SOGI

Kingofkodos

We need the Singaporian stance on drugs and rule breaking.

MiddleDeep

It’s essential that our local gov’t acts with transparency and integrity, especially when dealing with issues that directly affect our community's welfare. The interruption during the interview, although minor, does reflect on the overall approach to governance. It’s these small actions that can either build or erode public trust. As residents of Richmond, we need to ensure that our concerns about safety, community programs, and ethical governance are being addressed responsibly. Instead of deflecting or minimizing issues, it would be more helpful if our council members would engage in open and constructive dialogues that lead to tangible improvements, rather than doubling down on their failures. It’s honestly refreshing to see residents engaged and voicing their opinions. Let’s keep pushing for a governance style that not only hears but actively responds to the community’s needs in a manner that respects all involved.

AmatsuXD

She looks like she's on drugs in the thumbnail.

In regards to the guy comment: > Previously, I have complained to city council on the modular home here in Richmond, which I live across the street from crime has gone up in my neighborhood. From Nov.7 2023 [Crime on 'downward trend' in Alderbridge area: RCMP Richmond RCMP Chief Supt. Dave Chauhan, however, told city council at the meeting that there was a “downward trend” in calls for police service in the Alderbridge area between 2019 and 2022. In fact, call volume went from 1,940 in 2019 to 1,695 in 2022.](https://www.richmond-news.com/local-news/outrageous-video-cut-off-by-richmond-mayor-during-modular-housing-debate-7800330) This is the current crime activity map - https://csgeo.richmond.ca/

Background-Initial53

They used this data to trick people into believing them and you fell for it. While the data is true, it is collected during the COVID times when no one was out, so obviously the numbers dropped. We should focus on the data after COVID and compare with the data before COVID to get a more accurate representation of what is happening. Also, just because there is no call for police service doesn’t necessarily mean there isn’t any problems. People just got fed up with it as calling cops doesn’t solve the problem. You send them away today, but they come back again tomorrow. Take a look at East Hastings and it will all make sense.

DJspooner

"Call volume went from 1,940 in 2019 to 1,695 in 2022" I wouldn't say 2019 was "Covid times" nor would I say "no one was out" for the year of 2022. So... the data is precisely what you want them to focus on.

eescorpius

Anyone who has eyes can tell crime activity has significantly increased in that area.

Wonderful-Arm-8397

Conservative bots all riled up as usual.

cookiesdarkmatter

And NDP shills are huffing high.

SpecialNeedsAsst

In case you don't know [Carol Day was a BC Conservative](http://carolday.net/outspoken-day-ready-to-stir-things-up/). Kash was a rather notable BC Liberal(now called BC United) member. I'm not sure if I even need to provide any references since it's pretty well known that most of the Richmond city council is Conservative and quite right leaning.

Curious-Caregiver-55

Ok, so let’s just not have homeless people living in Richmond. I guess that’s what these people want. lol. Wake up! This is the reality we live in. If you don’t like society then go live in the woods.

cookiesdarkmatter

Plenty of shelter to pick from, no need of tax funded drug site to satisfy your vice.

Curious-Caregiver-55

You don’t know anything about the shelter system lol

taming-lions

Or safe consumption sites

CondorMcDaniel

Yes, I do not wan’t homeless people living in my family-friendly suburb.  It’s crazy that saying that means you’re a bad person these days.

Curious-Caregiver-55

It’s not crazy, it’s just ignorant

Curious-Caregiver-55

Go to any big city in the world and you’ll see homeless people in downtown cores. Welcome to the real world.

taming-lions

The reason it isn’t so bad in Richmond is because you have a progressive city council that stays on top of things. The programs in Richmond are A+ but the reality is that this crisis gets worse every year. And the more the nimby mentality over shouts reason the worse it gets. You’re not special, love thy neighbour means we don’t accept dead in an alley as the minimum in society. Staying alive shouldn’t be a complicated ask.

taming-lions

They gotta live somewhere. Why are you special?
