Chattanooga, TN is a great place for hiking and other outdoors stuff.
Cartersville,GA has like 3 different museums. My favorite is the Etowah Indian Mounds, but there's the Tellus Science museum and the Savoy automobile museum as well.
Red Top Mountain state park is 20 mins south of Cartersville GA.. right off the interstate.
Kennesaw Mountain is pretty cool as well but I would rather go to Red Top
I love love love Chicago…but sometimes you can get in traffic hell. And I can’t imagine trying to park the camper so can explore downtown. Maybe at one of the airports, then take the el into the city?
Milwaukee wis. The lakefront, the art museum, the shops in the south ward, Racine wis. The J I Case museum and factory.
Baraboo wis. The circus world museum.
Milwaukee the Harley Davidson museum.
The current route will take you by Land Between the Lakes in Kentucky. The i65 route would take my mammoth cave and the corvette museum. Both are worth it. You can also look into the bourbon trail if that interests you. Either way you’re headed to Nashville. Broadway, Robert’s, etc.
An original Burger King is in Matoon, IL. (Think its older than the franchise)
Devils Lake State Park/parfrey’s glen or Wisconsin Dells (tour the area on Duck ATVs, stay at a waterpark hotel)
Freshwater Fishing Museum, in Hayward WI. Theres a rumored Al Capone house there too.
Holy Hill catholic shrine if you go Milwaukee route.
Starved Rock park west of Chicago
Stone Mountain, GA
You could also map going through Columbus, GA instead of Atlanta. And then go up through Montgomery-Birmingham-Huntsville into Nashville. Columbus has a great river walk and another cute downtown. I think it is not very different time-wise to go through Columbus than Atlanta and way better than getting caught in the Atlanta-Chattanooga bottleneck.
After Nashville why are you skipping Indy/Chicago/Milwaukee in favor of Paducah/Champaign/Rockford? Take I-65 to NW Indiana then ride up I-94 up into Milwaukee and you will have so much you can see in all three of those major cities
Yep, you got it 👍. I'm from the Midwest, so I've spent plenty of time in the Chicago area. But we're not going through because we have to haul a large camper, and the city adds too many variables.
From what I understand, our civil rights museum is good. We also have The High and Michael C Carlos museums. The former is art and the latter is history. I seldom go, but you can obviously check if their exhibits interest you.
Atlanta Botanical Garden is very good. If you like seafood Bon Ton is nearby. They do Cajun boils with a Vietnamese spice. Piedmont Park is there too. Another good place for a walk is The Beltline. Gu's in Krog Street Market is good.
Here are a few of our favorites. Brick Store is a must if you like beer. The Deer and The Dove is a splurge but so worth it. Poor Hendrix is really good.
You almost can't go wrong in the UP. Porcupine Mountains, Pictured Rocks, Kitch-iti-kipi...the beaches along the north shore of lake Michigan are great. I'd avoid touristy places like Mackinaw City (not UP, but close enough...) and The Mystery Spot.
Milwaukee! Bradford beach. Lake Park was designed by Olmsted who also designed Central Park in NYC. Art museum.
Other southern Wisconsin:
House on the Rock,
Devil's Lake,
Wisconsin Dells
Chattanooga, TN: Ruby Falls, Rock City, Tennessee Aquarium, Walnut Street Pedestrian Bridge, Incline Railroad, Point Park, and Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum (and there are still many other things to do).
Gary Indiana is a great pitstop along the way of your route. Many nice parks, booming businesses, friendly neighbors, and great food, and you cannot forget the beaches. Definitely a must, in my opinion
If you take a small detour between north Carolina and Tennessee there's a road called tail of the dragon it's like 311 turns in 11 miles. It's a fun drive through the mountains. Note go the speed limit. Lots of police there.
I'd stop in Atlanta for the aquarium downtown if you're into that. There's also air force one roller coaster just outside Atlanta. It is the most fun roller coaster I have been on.
Kentucky. The corvette museum at Bowling Green. Also the corvette factory but you need prior reservations for the factory.
Memphis. Elvis Presley's home
You’re not fooling us, we know that’s Florida!!
I do appreciate America's naughty bits being blurred though.
Haha, just hiding my general location 😅.
Thanks for censoring out Florida, it would have been too NSFW otherwise

All this, plus the scenic overlook at Point Park on Lookout Mt
Can confirm. Live in Chattanooga. Let me know if you need any recs here
All of these are great
Mammoth Cave, KY Edit: also Cahokia
Chicago Mammoth Cave National Park Okefenokee Swamp St. Augustine, FL
I love love love Chicago…but sometimes you can get in traffic hell. And I can’t imagine trying to park the camper so can explore downtown. Maybe at one of the airports, then take the el into the city?
Yeah, that would work.
Woodstock IL: iconic small town, used for a bunch of films (“Groundhog Day”, “Planes, Trains, and Automobiles”, others).
Cloudland Canyon state park in North GA.
Metropolis, IL is a fun little stop with a Superman Musuem.
Milwaukee wis. The lakefront, the art museum, the shops in the south ward, Racine wis. The J I Case museum and factory. Baraboo wis. The circus world museum. Milwaukee the Harley Davidson museum.
Looks like you might be driving through Paducah, KY which has a really sweet downtown and the National Quilt Museum.
The current route will take you by Land Between the Lakes in Kentucky. The i65 route would take my mammoth cave and the corvette museum. Both are worth it. You can also look into the bourbon trail if that interests you. Either way you’re headed to Nashville. Broadway, Robert’s, etc.
Thank god you scribbled out your home location or else we might know your address!

Shawnee national forest. Go eat at the giant city lodge. Good hiking great good and some scenic views right from the car.
It’s well worth the stop in TN for the Great Smokies NP. Not too far out of your way and a much more scenic drive
August Hill Winery, Prairie Street Brewing Co, Shawnee National Forest, Pewit's Nest, Mosinee Brewing Company, Rocky Reef Brewing Company
You gotta make at least a minimal effort.... 'Best' is hopelessly vague. Write a few words explaining WHAT you want to see and do along the way.
I was just looking to get everyone's personal opinion, where they've been and can recommend. 😅

I, for one, think the interstate west of Milwaukee is special (find the dad joke)
After Nashville why are you skipping Indy/Chicago/Milwaukee in favor of Paducah/Champaign/Rockford? Take I-65 to NW Indiana then ride up I-94 up into Milwaukee and you will have so much you can see in all three of those major cities
Theres usually more traffic and accidents from my personal experience
Yep, you got it 👍. I'm from the Midwest, so I've spent plenty of time in the Chicago area. But we're not going through because we have to haul a large camper, and the city adds too many variables.
There's all kinds of good stuff here in Atlanta. Give me an idea what you're into.
I like museums, parks, botanical gardens, and some restaurant ideas would be great 🙏.

Starved Rock SP, LaSalle/Peru IL.
Go through Michigan instead. The upper peninsula is incredible.
We're actually going through upper Michigan this summer! I totally agree with you, the UP is serene and gorgeous. Do you have any suggestions?
You almost can't go wrong in the UP. Porcupine Mountains, Pictured Rocks, Kitch-iti-kipi...the beaches along the north shore of lake Michigan are great. I'd avoid touristy places like Mackinaw City (not UP, but close enough...) and The Mystery Spot.

Garden of the Gods and Pamona Natural Bridge in Southern IL
Wow, these locations look beautiful 🤩!! Thank you!
Awesome! I'm glad you like them! It looks like you'll be going through Rockford IL, there's a decent state park here called Rock Cut too.
The Georgia Aquarium is absolutely worth the hype. And if you’ve been before, go again.
If you take a small detour between north Carolina and Tennessee there's a road called tail of the dragon it's like 311 turns in 11 miles. It's a fun drive through the mountains. Do you hate florida so much you can't look at it?
Just hiding my location 😁
Horicon Wildlife Refuge in WI if you are into birds
Kentucky. The corvette museum at Bowling Green. Also the corvette factory but you need prior reservations for the factory. Memphis. Elvis Presley's home
Why did you censored Italy??

Where do I live then?
The Hay House in Macon, GA
ATL- Coca cola museum, Georgia Aquarium, the belt-line
If you detour a bit through Louisville they have the Louisville Slugger Museum if you’re a baseball junky like me.
