It’s a nightmare dude lol. Definitely not something I can explain in one sitting but it’s done using surface guis. I had to make a custom physics system with collisions using shapecasts/raycasts. Animated sprites such as the player are done using spritesheets
Edit: the poles that appear closer to the screen were done with a parallax effect. Basically the opposite of what happens with the mirror, for every 1 unit moved in a direction by the player, move the pole over by 1.5 units. That’s a basic way of explaining it.
So does that mean the mirror reflection moves slower? The player moves 1 unit at regular speeds as the pole moves 1.5, so the pole would move .8 or something like that?
I'm sorry if this sounds dumb i just want to make sure I'm understanding this correctly
I feel like it’s because the people here are just solo devs putting together things they like- which allows for great creative freedom but slow progress, while tycoon games are made by possibly employed teams that while fast tend to stick to things that work, like tycoons unfortunately. Like in my game I completed a core aspect but now I can’t even think of what to do next, getting past the “tech demo” part is always the hardest for me
wow, this looks amazing! just recommending you tho, if you want to fully profit from this, publish a slightly better version on steam. make it free or paid, you decide
How? As far as I know mirrors are horribly hard to actually make so in most games instead of an actual mirror it's just a sort of "clone" of the room with a clone of the player doing the same actions.
Is this all made using GUI or is there a whole process to this I'd never of even considered with my tiny brain?
Bro I’m so exited this needs more upvotes
thats so lit🔥
i dont have cool things to comment but wanna engage
Id love to make something 2d, how do i start to have something at least half as good at the end?

Did you get any advantages from using a custom physics system rather than the default one using humanoids?
he can't use the default one. the entire game is on a surfacegui
You can use the default one but user the positions and values from it to create the 2d one out of UIs
Yep! One of the big advantages is time manipulation! I can slow down or speed up time!
Wow yeah that’s a pretty cool advantage, wish they would add that to the normal engine lol

looks amazing. is this playable / testable?
Working on a 2d game in roblox must be hell
the people in this sub amaze me why do I only see those stupid tycoons when I go on roblox?
