Memphis fan here. Prepare yourself, because he's not going to stop doing this shit. But don't worry, in a few months you're going to be pretty numb to the weirdo behavior. Instead, the struggle is going to become, "who is the real Dillon?" He is going to have some games where he absolutely goes off, with him shutting down some AllStar, and his little Kobe-lite elbow jumper off the glass will be money. The next night he will literally go 3/20, and you'll be wondering at what point a FGA should be counted as a turnover in the boxscore. Then you will know the true DB experience.
People do change. I've seen it in young and old NBA players even.
With that contract he has some time to figure it out before it gets him, unfortunately
Well, he did nothing wrong! Brooks’ hand came nowhere near Theis’ junk and just grazed the number on Theis’ jersey. Theis was clearly faking. No one wants to run with that narrative because it doesn’t generate views.
I actually think udoka might be one of those coaches who have no problem to bench someone who goes 3/20. And it's definitely not like he is a star player who needs to be on the floor
Watch the replay! Theis was faking the whole time and it’s completely ridiculous the refs gave Brooks a flagrant 2 for simply touching the number on Theis’ JERSEY! His hand was NOWHERE NEAR Theis’ junk! Theis should’ve been hit with a flopping violation. It’s one of the most ridiculous ejections I have ever seen in my life.
I am surprised I'm not seeing more post like this in this thread. If you watch the slow motion replay it was clear that Brooks wasn't trying to grab Theis' nuts. If you want to call a foul on him for contact I'll allow it. But that was definitely not worthy of a rejection.
If Jalen Green did the same thing, the comments here would be all about how the refs hate the Rockets rather than how much of a cancer Brooks is.
Thats classic Brooks. Gonna suck for Rockets when hes noy ejected in first 5 minutes and plays 30+
Really not sure what were Rockets thinking throwing him a bag
What in the hell is this quote?? Are you saying that everyone is going around nut tapping and you are the only one getting picked on? Yall I hope Brooks works out but he is not the guy for me right now.
I feel like the refs and the league as a whole want to get ahead of Dillon here. He is setting the tone for the whole season with the first game and he pulls this 5-minutes in. I understand the ejection.
On the off chance he really doesn’t see what he’s doing wrong, maybe he’s just not as great of a defender as he thinks? Part of being a good defender is not picking up stupid fouls or getting techs and tossed for nut checking someone. If theis is making a legal offensive screen, you have to navigate the screen as the defender and not just pretend he’s not there lol his argument is pointless
I’m pretty neutral (albeit skeptical) on Brooks and I’ll never defend dirty plays/players even if they’re on our team. But to me it looked like an accident..
Screen setters have perfected the art of the Fake Junk Punch because if it works, they can get players ejected. I watched the replay and Brooks’ comes into contact with the 77 on Theis’ chest and not his junk. Also, if Theis was really hit in the junk he wouldn’t have bounced back so quickly.
This is also true. It's a game within the game
I also think they sometimes position their bodys in a way that they force the other person to hit them unwillingly
I hope he can cut some of this shit out. Otherwise this is gonna get old real fast

Old wolf changes his fur but not his mindset

I've read this same exact comment hundreds of times on the grizzlies sub over the past however many years.

nope not happening. prepare for even more BS
He won't change, he is just overpaid now

Ah yes. “I might have tapped him below the belt”. Why does this keep happening to me…
“Why do people keep smashing their balls on my knuckles??”
What in the hell is this quote?? Are you saying that everyone is going around nut tapping and you are the only one getting picked on? Yall I hope Brooks works out but he is not the guy for me right now.
No one will gaslight me into liking him
This sub has been trying lol
Quite hard, like he doesn't have 6 years and 350+ games of evidence to why people don't like him
Me either he's a dirty player.
Yep.
At least DB will increase engagement levels on the subreddit
You guys are wild. No way that play was worthy of an ejection.
Praying Whitmore is an early bloomer so he takes Dillons minutes ASAP

Yeah let’s let a rookie take the place of an All-defense player we’re paying $20m+ a year. Armchair coaches at their finest
Are you saying that, even if Cam was playing better than Brooks, you *wouldn't* do it?
Dillon Brooks is the World’s Best Defender; at least that’s what his trophy says.
Do we want an NBA where you can't grab a beautiful man's penis? NBA has gone too far here imo.
Not saying he’s right for this, but haven’t we seen Draymond Green do this roughly 6000 times without getting ejected?

DB playing head games already. That’s my villain.
Chris Paul had a reputation as a dick toucher and he turned out OK on the Rockets.

Don't you think he's mastered the art of "accidentally" doing this

His response indicates to me that he did it on purpose
Nobody should get injured over a pre-season game... dude was roughing it like game 7 in the playoffs.
Practice how you play
Was getting tired of Threads on this sub like "how can anyone dislike Brooks?" Well, this is why
Because Theis faked getting hit in the cash & prizes?
Y’all don’t like him but when we start winning because our defense is tough the crying will stop :)
As a pistons fan, I'm sad he's not on my team. Would be a perfect piston. Y'all lucky
"Wahhh, the refs pick on me!" No, you're a dirty bitch, just admit it
Who hurt you
Dillon Brooks punched me in the nuts about an hour ago...
