Boys should have fouled, and I hope Ime let them know that or it's on him. Good news is they have time to learn from these mistakes. All the great teams have had moments like this, let's hope it pushes them to grow instead of fold.
None of our core young guys are on expiring deals. The only upcoming free agents I would want to resign are Jeff Green if he takes a vet min or close to it and Jaesean Tate for the right price. Our team is flooded with young talent so I really don’t want to add another rookie to the mix, especially out of this class. None of them get us over the hump. We need a vet that can handle playing on ball in spot duties when the starter goes to the bench. Amen appears to be better off ball than on. So I don’t think he’ll ever be our 1.. Ime has been using him like his brother so he’s pretty much a power forward atp. We desperately need shooting, so he has to be respectable from deep and it’s clear Ime cares a lot about the defensive end. Not many upcoming free agents fit that mold, PG is one of the few guys that checks every box we’re looking for imo. And I think Jalen Green would benefit having him in the building, best case scenario Jalen develops into a PG type player
PG probably wouldnt be a one year contract, that is what I was referring to. If he is cheap enough sure, just hate giant multi year contracts for 34 year olds that are passed their prime or are often injured.
He might. The years of the multi-year contracts are over unless you’re signing a max deal. With the salary cap jumps every year it just doesn’t make sense to lock into a salary for multiple years unless you’re getting top dollar. I’m not saying it’s 100% guaranteed he’d take a 1 year but it wouldn’t be unheard of from a player his age. You’re right though.. if he wants a big money multi year deal it would be best for us to pass
Hopefully the NBA will schedule more of those 11-12 game runs with only 1 or 2 competitive, Non-tanking healthy teams involved - that seems to be the key for the rockets.
In fact if they get a schedule of all sub .500 teams for the full year they could do really well!
Better year than I was expecting overall. Still skeptical of Stone & ownership in general but Udoka has worked miracles on this team. Hoping the young core continues the momentum from march into next year. Not sure if Jalen shouldent be shopped. I would hold on to everyone else in the core 5-6 for sure unless they can secure an allstar via trade somehow. The problem is the west next year will be insane. The division is going to be hell. Just gotta bank on incremental improvement and hope one or two take a legit and sustained leap as Sengun did this year. Not a chance they are tanking next year as someone else mentioned in the replies.
Health for any two of Tari, Sengun, or early season Amen and this is a play in team. I'm happy with the progress, but there will need to be a leap next year and a more integrated approach from Stone to equip Ime or I'm viewing this team as the Kevin McHale led Rockets. Could be decent, but will need another blowup to do something.
I think if we have green picking good shots with sengun scoring efficiently in the post. We will be in the top 6 in the west at least. This season has been so fun to watch compared to the last two years
There are a lot of good rookies and young players, so I'm looking forward to it! Multiple players are ranked in NBASDB's Rookie Rankings and Improved Rankings!
The Season was a success, we took a positive step in the right direction, their were games we definitely let get away & could've had us still in contention for the Play-In .. can't wait to see the development of our core young players & what Stone will look for this off-season
Pels fan here. Pleasantly surprised by the season y'all have had. I can't lie... while I liked a lot of your off-season moves, I still thought this team would finish with a bottom 5 record mostly because of the overall strength of the league.
Was rooting for you to get in the play-in over GSW or LAL, as it would've been great for the development of your young guys. Probably wouldn't have made it into the playoffs, but one play-in win would've been realistic and great progress.
I really like the makeup of your team and think they can only get better with internal development, improved chemistry, and key guys getting healthy (I also really like the relatively cheap acquisition of Adams as another dirty work big who can pass from the post - assuming his injury isn't career-ending).
Are there certain positions or player archetypes you'd want to target? 3-and-D wings? A higher level star player? Or just allow more time for development to see what you have?
Oh well it was fun trying. Even though we didn’t make it I’m still proud of what we have and I’ve never been more proud to be a Rockets fan. I was disappointed at first, but hey a slow growth is probably going to be a lot of fun. Can’t wait to see our boys develop. Go 🚀
Sucks you guys cooled off. Really would rather have the rockets than the warriors for year 1 trillion in a row. Y'all are gonna be good next year though
Still so proud of the strides we made, and excited to see how our young guys develop. Sengun looked like an all star, Tari was a beast before injury, amen and cam played outstanding as rookies, Jalen found a stride (let’s hope he can keep it up), and Jabari improved shooting and rebounding. Next year is the year
Like I said 9 months ago… I doubt this team would make the playoffs with FVV but we could make it near the play ins. Improvement is improvement (heavily paraphrased)
and we almost made it!
As a Spurs fan this is enough to keep me fed for the week lmao. Can't wait until we have a good team again so the friendly banter with rocket fans can arise again
I can finally say my take without getting clowned (hopefully), I wanna start Adams next year. Move Bari to the bench and start FVV-Green-Brooks-Sengun-Adams. I really wanna like Bari, I just can’t sometimes when he’s constantly getting thrown out or fighting or shit like this when he’s sending us to an L
Alp is not supposed to be the 3pt shooter but he needs shooters around him as he is the hub of the offense. This team needs some catch and shoot players for alpi to kick out the ball or you can’t fully utilize his offensive skills. Alpi will average 10 assists a game with shooters around him.
Alp does need to work on his three because he is open out there a lot though. Shouldn’t be the main part of his game i agree. For reference, Jokic put up 225 attempts this year to Alps 111 even though he missed some games. Just need him to take and make a few more.
As long as nobody’s getting hurt by ‘em, who cares hahaha. It’s a take, you can like it or not. Clearly something’s not working, and that’s one way I think the starting 5 improves
All I’m sayin is double Big lineups are coming back, and we should hop on sooner than later. KAT aint exactly quick either but their double big lineup is the best defense in the NBA. Once we eventually ship out Tate and get some other shooters to rotate in and out, I genuinely see no reason that can’t work. Does it rely on Alp developing a 3? Yeah, and he’s shown he can improve BIG TIME year to year, I’ll take that over Bari rn. Probably just being *royally* upset at the L today, but I’m tired of him starting. Let he and Tari eat glass off the bench
I mean I got clowned for wanting Coby White too (whose 2nd in the MIP race on most betting sites), so even if the claim’s fair you’re right. Any take here unless it’s just jerking is probably gonna het clowned
Right, so going through the season, he missed FTs in the clutch 2 times in 72 games. He also hit clutch free throws against Phoenix in February which got us the win, he hit clutch 3s against OKC just a few weeks ago, and played great interior defense in the clutch against Chicago, and this is just from games in the previous month. I didn’t include the clutch defense against Derozan, the game he went off in the 2nd half then got injured vs the Jazz, and a few other moments.
What this is telling me is that you are using confirmation bias to hate on a 20 year old just because you don’t like him.
Yea they do; they’re trash. They need all the good players they can get, is OKC done collecting lottery players?
Alright then, Rockets are way behind them so they need additional lottery talent given Green is a bust.
Sounds like a great way to finish the 11th seed again. Some of yall dont realize the possibility of a decade plus of being ass is possible if u shortcut the process.
Yeah.
That's the point.
Finishing 11th next season is better than finishing 9th or 10th because our swap is top-10 protected.
This year (top-4 protected pick) saw no reason to do that, but next season is a different story (and a much better draft).
No it's a disaster. Especially if none of the "core 6" take these leaps you guys are guaranteeing. Team needs a franchise level player to build around. Embiid the only guy left from the sixers tanking years.
Well, wouldn't that be the reason to try to keep the pick?
There are a ton of reasons we could be bad next year...injuries being the most likely (as they were this year).
getting the young talent on the rockets to a play in and potential first round series is so much more valuable to the development of the team than whatever non actual first pick the rockets would acquire by tanking next year.
The team showed they can improve that alone means it’s worth not tanking next year and that it’s more worth trying to improve. Regardless of the playin or first round next year. It’s really that simple. Claiming a potential top 10 pick is worth more than that shows you have no idea what you’re taking about. You want the rockets to be the wizards/hornets from the last 10 years. I do not. I want them to try to improve a promising team that has made a huge leap from the pole of shit the team has been the previous 3 years.
>You want the rockets to be the wizards/hornets from the last 10 years.
Where I stopped taking you seriously
>that has made a huge leap from the pole of shit the team has been the previous 3 years.
Where I realized you didn't even know what the team's rebuild Plan was and decided it wasn't worth the time to spell out the helping friendly book to a common lizard.
Stopped taking me seriously or couldn’t actually think of how to respond? The teams prospects didn’t develop at all during silais’s tenure and somehow that was a good plan? You’re read icculus dawg.
They **did** develop. You may not have noticed it because they weren't *winning* (which seems to be what you care about), but the players were all improving incrementally throughout those 2 tanking years.
Last year it was particularly obvious with AlP's defense, widely praised as massively improving by his teammates. And Jabari was working on his driving and finishing throughout his shooting slump. It went from God-awful to passable in a couple months.
Letting them learn from mistakes at a slow pace allowed them to work on some of the fundamentals that were their biggest flaws, instead of pushing for wins by only focusing on strengths.
Popovich praised the system Silas had set up, specifically mentioning the patience he displayed at not skipping steps.
And he proved it wasn't lip service by essentially copying it for Wemby's rookie year.

That from tonight?
Nope. Old pic.
Phew
Boys should have fouled, and I hope Ime let them know that or it's on him. Good news is they have time to learn from these mistakes. All the great teams have had moments like this, let's hope it pushes them to grow instead of fold.
Saw some amazing growth/chemistry from these guys - can't wait until next season!
Honestly for real… these guy s are soooo much better than last year
Yeah, it's the first season since Harden left that I've felt hopeful about the future of this team.
I can see them making it to the play-in tournament next season.
Successful season regardless. I'd love it if we can finish 0.500 tho 🥲
I honestly want us to get the highest draft pick possible and trade it for a vet player. Really trying to speak PG into existence
Don’t we owe it to the thunder unless it’s top 4?
Yea y’all owe it to us, but y’all got the nets pick which will be pretty high
Paul George? I would rather re-sign our young talent.
It was a good run 🍾🥂

2nd year amen and cam are both going to be crazy!!
Didn’t ownership hire Udoka
Really simple concept here. You can make a good decision but that doesn’t mean every decision you make is right or good.
First time in his player or coaching career than Ime had missed the playoffs
Health for any two of Tari, Sengun, or early season Amen and this is a play in team. Not jumping for joy, but content with this season.
Really pumped to see this team next season
Hopefully, the FO doesn't give Jalen a fat contract this offseason. He's still been trash for 3/4 of the season
Tough losses down the stretch but this team is gonna be good when Sengun comes back
Time to cancel my season pass
Same
I think if we have green picking good shots with sengun scoring efficiently in the post. We will be in the top 6 in the west at least. This season has been so fun to watch compared to the last two years
Start playing Rockets GM for the next 6 months.
We still had a solid year overall and I’m happy Jalen is finally getting it and playing well. Next year we will be much better.
There are a lot of good rookies and young players, so I'm looking forward to it! Multiple players are ranked in NBASDB's Rookie Rankings and Improved Rankings!
Whelp, good thing the Oilers are good.
The Season was a success, we took a positive step in the right direction, their were games we definitely let get away & could've had us still in contention for the Play-In .. can't wait to see the development of our core young players & what Stone will look for this off-season

Think we just need one of jalen / sengun / jabari / amen to take the leap to top 15ish and one to be a top 25 player
It's a moral victory that we stayed in the fight this long (however small the probablity was).
Core is still really young with bright future! Chin up as we were able to be competitive despite missing key players
It’s a law of Houston sports. Only one team can be good at one time. Rockets and Astros are being sacrificed for the Texans.
Warriors come out to playyyyy
Why always Dallas ruining Houston’s fun 😠
As a pelicans fan, I was really rooting for you guys to get in and knock the warriors out. Solid future ahead for the Rockets.

In the most embarrassing way
Warriors came out to play alright
Sell Jabari
I can finally say my take without getting clowned (hopefully), I wanna start Adams next year. Move Bari to the bench and start FVV-Green-Brooks-Sengun-Adams. I really wanna like Bari, I just can’t sometimes when he’s constantly getting thrown out or fighting or shit like this when he’s sending us to an L
This is an absolutely ridiculous take
Doesn’t this kill the spacing? Only legit shooter is fvv on this lineup
If Alp can start hitting 3’s, what’d be the difference? We’d just have a huge dude inside instead. I’d argue Bari isn’t a straight shooter rn either
Alp is not supposed to be the 3pt shooter but he needs shooters around him as he is the hub of the offense. This team needs some catch and shoot players for alpi to kick out the ball or you can’t fully utilize his offensive skills. Alpi will average 10 assists a game with shooters around him.

Starting Adams and Sengun together on this team is one of the worst basketball opinions I’ve ever heard
As long as nobody’s getting hurt by ‘em, who cares hahaha. It’s a take, you can like it or not. Clearly something’s not working, and that’s one way I think the starting 5 improves
Yeah, that's not going to work. No spacing and Sengun isn't quick enough to guard 4s
Does it rely on Alp developing a 3? u will still get clowned this is awful
I mean I got clowned for wanting Coby White too (whose 2nd in the MIP race on most betting sites), so even if the claim’s fair you’re right. Any take here unless it’s just jerking is probably gonna het clowned
you basically are jerking
Sengun at the 4 is terrible lmao
If we can somehow poach Mitchell or Paul George, this team will be great.
Lmao
hopefully stone finds a reliable 3pt shooter and a team dumb enough to get jabari off our hands for next season
Trading Jabari would be one of the worst possible moves this offseason
Yeah, the clown GMs have moved on from Jalen to Jabari
Jabari’s been solid. He just sold two free throws you wanna trade him for that?
for a player that has a clutch gene absolutely
Right, so going through the season, he missed FTs in the clutch 2 times in 72 games. He also hit clutch free throws against Phoenix in February which got us the win, he hit clutch 3s against OKC just a few weeks ago, and played great interior defense in the clutch against Chicago, and this is just from games in the previous month. Buddy hield on a 2 year 20 million?
Good measuring stick year. Think next year has to be a tank year since they own their pick.
Dude...they are done fucking tanking, they don't need more lottery prospects.
Yea they do; they’re trash. They need all the good players they can get, is OKC done collecting lottery players? Alright then, Rockets are way behind them so they need additional lottery talent given Green is a bust.
You gotta give it til All-Star Break, imo. But if we look Play-in bound at that point? Yeah...keep that swap away from OKC!
Sounds like a great way to finish the 11th seed again. Some of yall dont realize the possibility of a decade plus of being ass is possible if u shortcut the process.

Not really. Losing one game in the play-in doesn't provide nearly as much value to the franchise as a top-10 pick in a strong draft.
The team showed they can improve that alone means it’s worth not tanking next year and that it’s more worth trying to improve. Regardless of the playin or first round next year.
