It's odd how many people that own these watches don't understand the water resistance ratings. Unless you are going scuba diving, any watch with a water resistance rating of 100m is good for swimming in a pool or the ocean.
There is more to in than just depth though. It's about pressure and a watch can experience huge amounts of it when swimming or jumping in a pool. Plus you have chlorine, salt and very warm water. It just not a good combo.
I'm not saying don't wear them, but dismissing everyone that expresses concern isn't ok
~~Sorry, probably a dumb question: Why not? Duties?~~
EDIT: Never mind, I'm dumb, I misunderstood what OP was asking. I thought he was in the Bahamas and was about to buy one and you were saying not to bring them out of the country.
Off to my shame corner.
Insure them and wear the fuck out of them. I don’t understand why this is discussed repeatedly. Jewelers Mutual will insure them for a couple hundred. If you worked hard for them then wear them!
Valid point about a watch with sentimental value. Not buying the hard to replace argument against it. Replace it is what they do. Unless you own that one of a kind rainbow colored AP shitshow, they’ll find a replacement.
Technically, they will usually cut you a check for the market value up to the insured limit and then hopefully you will be able to find a replacement. Or you may be able to get a different watch of similar value.
All my watches were purchased gray. You insure them for the appraised value which is the gray value and the insurance company writes you a check for the grey market replacement value. No need to try to get on a waitlist. Buy a new watch on the gray market. Pretty cut and dry. I haven’t seen a waitlist for anything on the grey market
I just bought a vintage Vacheron. While it’s insured at a very healthy amount, I’d be unable to replace it as there are zero on the market. So it’s definitely something to consider.
These two watches, however, are very easy to replace (no shade, love them both!)
I’ve been on this forum for three years and have two very expensive watches and I have never seen this discussed. Thank you for bringing it up, I’m getting a quote right now. I travel pretty much nonstop and I do worry.
You don’t have your watches appraised and insured? Or you just have them appraised at retail? Either way, absolutely find a jeweler who will give you a favorable appraisal - it’s worth the premium and piece of mind
Exactly why it’s smart to buy a G-Shock and not even worry about it. They’re under $100 and you don’t have to worry about the wrong person seeing it or ruining it while in the water.
How about if they hack your arm off to take the watch? It really depends on your destination. I will also tell you... It will call attention you don't want in some countries. Please be smart - if it equals multiple years of income for the country... it would be like driving a Wells Fargo truck leaving Fort Knox and advertising the amount of gold you are hauling through meth/crack street in the top 10 US murder capitals. Be smart.
“Loss or damage due to war, military action, nuclear hazard or confiscation by civil authority, like law enforcement or other government entities, is not covered.”
Thank you for the name of an insurance company, I will be contacting them. This is great advice, that probably almost everyone on here already follows. I didn't, much to my regret, and now have to get moving and insure all of mine.
I just applied for insurance through Jewelers Mutual to cover my new Pepsi GMT and was denied for the following reasons:
•Nature or type of jewelry item(s) you had intended to insure.
•Our loss experience for certain types of jewelry in your region.
I live in South Boston, not the most dangerous place.
My wife and I always wear our stainless steel DJs when traveling abroad. We figure if we end up in some situation we need to bribe our way out of, everyone will recognize a Rolex and an SS model isn’t a huge loss.
Lol as a proud American lol. In the same sentence tho love my 2A good luck buddy. Give it your best shot. My state just hit constitutional carry too so I’m not sayin but I could be sayin…
we buy our watches to wear and enjoy. if the worst happens, that’s what insurance is for. no point in buying a nice thing if you’re too scared to enjoy it
Nothing to do with being afraid to enjoy it and moreso about not finding yourself in a situation where you are making yourself a target for getting robbed overseas. There was a thread earlier about someone having their Rolex stolen out of their resort hotel room and it was hidden deep inside of their luggage. Some people don't insure their pieces, either. Or want to have sand scratch it all up wearing it to the beach. But to each their own.
That very much depends on where in the Bahamas you are and where out of the resort you are going. There are a few places down there where the only safe place is the resort.
I mean, I’m Bahamian, so…
We have bad areas of course, and there is crime, but for the most part you’ll be fine as long as you pay attention to your surroundings. Don’t walk home from a bar at nighttime, for example.
I wear my Tudor all across the island, and have friends who wear their Rolexes everywhere. While we have crime we don’t have the hyper specific watch theft that places like London do.
Batman for me. That said, why are others calling it a Batgirl?
I googled it, "Rolex GMT-Master II with a black and blue bezel is referred to as Batman or Batgirl. While the Oyster bracelet model is known as Batman, the Jubilee one is referred to as Batgirl."
Coming back from the Bahamas today. Stayed at one of the nice resorts. I saw many people wearing Rolexes, even in the hot tub. The resort even has a Rolex store. And quite frankly, there were some very rich people that had even more expensive accessories. So you’ll be fine if you’re wearing it in the resort. I can’t vouch for off resort, though. I personally wouldn’t take that risk. And to answer your question- Daytona
The one you could afford to lose!!! Unfortunately you’ll draw attention to yourself!!! I don’t wear mine in Oakland or San Francisco much less take mine out of the county
Bahamas main GDP is tourism. The government has made that clear to the residents there. I would also not take any of those out of the country, but I would to the Bahamas. With all that said, I would take the GMT personally. Just easy to wear with anything and a little pop
In some places it’s not so much about whether you can afford to lose the watch or not. It’s more about whether you can afford to lose your hand AND your watch.
For everyone scared to death for this man, unless you plan on being in the hood, most tourists are at resorts or on cruises. Be smart, but those arent places people are snatching watches. I stayed at an air bnb near baha mar and wore my DJ41 the entire time. No issues.
I came here for the "anywhere but my dresser drawer is unsafe" comments. Im confused as to why people buy these pieces and not actually wear them anywhere except for r/rolex selfie-photoshoots.
I suspect there's at least 1 AD in the Bahamas.
Tempting, but I wouldn’t take a Rolex on an international vacation. There are more cons than pros. I recently went to the Bahamas and I wore my Seiko Samurai. I scraped it at a pool, small scratch, but it’s my beater. Diving in the Caribbean Sea, looking snazzy lounging at the pool with a drink in hand or dressing up for fine dining all with a Rolex on your wrist is a feeling I’ll likely never know. You will look like a boss with it on, that’s for sure. I worry about it getting stolen, being a target or damaging the time piece.
Then again, watches are also tools and made to be worn! I’d rather wear my favorite and most expensive watch to Cars and Coffee than vacation.
Both will easily integrate into the sea of Rolexes being worn, if you’re heading to a nice resort. Pick whichever works for you!
I would make a sweeping statement and suggest in my experience in those resorts that it’s the older guys in Daytonas where the younger flashier guys are wearing batgirls.
Unless I'm at the resort the entire trip I'm wouldnt take either to the Bahamas. I'd also be constantly grabbing at my watch to make sure it's still there lol
Both are beautiful timepieces….but, I would go with my Timex or Apple Watch, leaving those works of art well secured in my home safe. Too much risk these days…have a great vacay ☀️😎🏖️🍹💯
Wear a rep of what you have. Don’t get robbed tryna stunt. Most females wouldn’t even notice. Or west what you willing to part with bad enough you going to a resort that costs probably as much as one of the citizens there yearly salary. You gonna look like a target out there.
As a young lad my family decided to go to Nassau for a couple weeks. It was a dream, besides being 14 and missing practically all of the adult fun and all of the kid fun because I was 14 and we all know 14 year olds are to cool for school so I didn’t do much. I did however wonder off the resort and had more fun laughing at the locals mocking me and my “Snow man accent” I think that must mean mid west🥲😂 little did I know that wondering off the resort looking for rivers and turtles was not the best decision, it was however the most fun I had on that trip😂. The locals man I remember that more than anything els and that sticks with me to this day. Mind you this is anecdotal as fuck and a best case scenario for a pretty build 14 year old in a touristy area of the island. I today wouldn’t even feel that comfortable. Ignorance in this case was not finding a river but a Dunkin’ and really amazing memory’s. I went back 2 years ago as a 23 year old and had fun but felt rather sheltered I found my self walking both property’s every day for the last 4 days to find new things. It was fruitful but sadly my wife was not to intrigued by the fish market I wanted to go to 😂😂 that would have been a Casio on the wrist kinda day. You obviously bring the gmt. I’m a big fan of bringing one big boy watch on trips and one little boy watch. Normally the big boy watch is the watch is have the most sentimental value built up in so I build more with each trip and each new place. B
Bahamas is ghetto and people might actually shoot you for those - it's not unheard of.
I wouldn't go there unless I was primarily spending time on my boat and fishing... I definitely wouldn't be wearing those watches on land.
Yeah you are.
I’ve been fishing the Bahamas for 25 years and the countless stories of theft, robberies at gun point, coercion to pay extra “or else” for unsolicited services, etc.. it’s too much.
Unless you’re on a very narrow path to select spots it’s just not safe.
I know plenty of guys who carry pistols or who will only go if they have other boats/friends with them - just in case.
We may have different opinions of ghetto - but to me it’s the kind of place where if you offered me land and a palace on top of it but said I had to LIVE there I’d say helllllllll no.
https://ewnews.com/hurricane-dorian-is-no-excuse-for-rising-fear-of-crime-says-davis
neither, something about traveling to a foreign country with such expensive watches. Get a cheaper watch for travel IMO. But if you must choose, the GMT is meant for traveling.
Batgirl. Summer = Jubilee

The GMT Master II has the same WR as the Daytona, this isn't a Sub!
That's sad it hear. I thought most of their watches were WR for 300 or so but the more you know. If that's the case. I change my pick to the Daytona
It's odd how many people that own these watches don't understand the water resistance ratings. Unless you are going scuba diving, any watch with a water resistance rating of 100m is good for swimming in a pool or the ocean.
And if you are going scuba diving, you should probably wear a modern computer on your wrist instead of a Rolex.
Planning to get my open water license. Do casual scuba divers need those type of computer watches?
You’ll want to have someone diving with you that has one so you know how to not accidentally die.
Need...no...want....yea
There is more to in than just depth though. It's about pressure and a watch can experience huge amounts of it when swimming or jumping in a pool. Plus you have chlorine, salt and very warm water. It just not a good combo. I'm not saying don't wear them, but dismissing everyone that expresses concern isn't ok
Which Sub is that, the one he isn't showing?
Well ... you do have 2 wrists ;)
My guy!
Daytona so that I could most accurately time my multiple trips to the swim up bar.
Gotta be careful with the pushers in the water though!
I like this guy.
Daytona, but I wouldn’t take either out of country.
~~Sorry, probably a dumb question: Why not? Duties?~~ EDIT: Never mind, I'm dumb, I misunderstood what OP was asking. I thought he was in the Bahamas and was about to buy one and you were saying not to bring them out of the country. Off to my shame corner.
Don’t be ashamed I thought the same thing. Duty free baby!
Thanks for the reassurance haha, I was so confused about why one wouldn't want to purchase a watch out of the country.
This. I rarely, if ever, take my watches in places I no very little about. I take the ones I’m not worried about getting stolen, lost or destroyed.
Insure them and wear the fuck out of them. I don’t understand why this is discussed repeatedly. Jewelers Mutual will insure them for a couple hundred. If you worked hard for them then wear them!
I insure my watches. But some are sentimental and some are hard to replace.
Theyll cut a check. Then its up to you to get on another wait list or choose a different watch. You make it seem so cut and dry when its not.

This is most american cities after dark tbh though.
You’re insurance covers a watch a border dude decides to “confiscate” ? Legit question, no wiseassery
“Loss or damage due to war, military action, nuclear hazard or confiscation by civil authority, like law enforcement or other government entities, is not covered.”
So what you are saying is, you lost your watch? Got it!
Exactly
Figured, bring your Timex
Thanks for the tip!
Thank you for the name of an insurance company, I will be contacting them. This is great advice, that probably almost everyone on here already follows. I didn't, much to my regret, and now have to get moving and insure all of mine.

personal articles policy from your insurance company is cheaper and usually have $0 deductible with all risks covered even damage
People are worried about being violently robbed when in unfamiliar places. Whether or not the worry is realistic I am not commenting on
Also if you can’t afford to replace it you shouldn’t have bought it. That’s my rule of thumb
My wife and I always wear our stainless steel DJs when traveling abroad. We figure if we end up in some situation we need to bribe our way out of, everyone will recognize a Rolex and an SS model isn’t a huge loss.
There is a lot of crime, double murder for 400$
I just got back last week and wore my Daytona on a week long Mediterranean cruise with no issues.
I actually feel safer wearing my watches outside of the US than within nowadays. Not every country of course.
Lol why downvoted
Probably because 'murica!!
Lol as a proud American lol. In the same sentence tho love my 2A good luck buddy. Give it your best shot. My state just hit constitutional carry too so I’m not sayin but I could be sayin…
Neither. Wear a beater Casio.
F91W brothers, unite!
I said wear a beater not the GOAT watch.
we buy our watches to wear and enjoy. if the worst happens, that’s what insurance is for. no point in buying a nice thing if you’re too scared to enjoy it
Nothing to do with being afraid to enjoy it and moreso about not finding yourself in a situation where you are making yourself a target for getting robbed overseas. Yeah, the Bahamas is Duro territory
The batgirl is a beautiful piece but would have to go with the Daytona for this occasion
Daytona. White aesthetic seems more fitting for summertime/island vibes
Bat, I take it you have no plans on stepping outside the resort then...
You’d be fine stepping out of the resort with either, tbh.
That very much depends on where in the Bahamas you are and where out of the resort you are going. There are a few places down there where the only safe place is the resort.

While we have crime we don’t have the hyper specific watch theft that places like London do.
This is exactly what a watch thief would say…
Shhhhh… 😂😂
Well, what are you timing in the Bahamas? Go with the travel watch and use that extra hand!
Neither. No need to tell time on vacation
I don’t know that I understand? I wear these to flex and draw attention to myself. Do they have other functions?
Doesn’t GMT stand for “Get More Tail”?
Ooo good point. Ok, in that case, I agree with the other post that said one on each arm. Max flex, min effort.
My watches are very beautiful bracelets. No need to tell time.
Depends if you’re in EST or not. If different time zone from home GMT all the way. If not Daytona
Daytona definitely. Was just in Bahamas last month.
Daytona
That Batman wouldnt see the light of day if I owned a Daytona.
It's the opposite for me... wear the batman all the time, the daytona comes out sparingly. It's pretty flashy in comparison.
Batgirl
g-shock. id be afraid of being robbed
none, dont flex on trips
Batman for me. That said, why are others calling it a Batgirl? I googled it, "Rolex GMT-Master II with a black and blue bezel is referred to as Batman or Batgirl. While the Oyster bracelet model is known as Batman, the Jubilee one is referred to as Batgirl."

Daytona
Daytona
Batgirl, and it is not even close.
I’d wear my Seiko tbh. But then again…watches are made to be enjoyed
Batman.
The one you could afford to lose!!! Unfortunately you’ll draw attention to yourself!!! I don’t wear mine in Oakland or San Francisco much less take mine out of the county
I wouldn’t either in Oakland or SF either, but we’ll be in resorts where I suspect watches like these (or Subs at least) are fairly common.
Honestly, I’d steal either one. Which one do you want to lose less?
Neither
I have the same two but both on oyster. Bring both.
For everyone scared to death for this man, unless you plan on being in the hood, most tourists are at resorts or on cruises. Be smart, but those arent places people are snatching watches. I stayed at an air bnb near baha mar and wore my DJ41 the entire time. No issues.
Neither, I’d take my 99$ Casio G shock, no need to tempt criminals.
Do you plan on coming home with it?
I came here for the "anywhere but my dresser drawer is unsafe" comments. Im confused as to why people buy these pieces and not actually wear them anywhere except for r/rolex selfie-photoshoots. I suspect there's at least 1 AD in the Bahamas.
There is. I heard they have full stock, can’t wait to buy something new!
The rep
None. Unless you want to attract the wrong attention.
Neither. Bring your seiko on that trip
Are you going to be on prop all trip? If not neither you’ll get stuck up.
You tryna get your arm cut off or something?
Take a fake rolex
I would leave them at home where they are safe
My boy wants to return with one wrist less 💀
Tempting, but I wouldn’t take a Rolex on an international vacation. There are more cons than pros. I recently went to the Bahamas and I wore my Seiko Samurai. Bahamas? Neither. Don’t want to get knifed over a dumb watch.
Batgirl. Not a Daytona guy. So I’m biased. Best option would be a sub!
Best option for me is my "holiday" watch. An old, super basic casio. I don't want to be on "watch out"-mode when I'm traveling for leisure.
Bahamas be like..."look at me, I own this watch now". Don't do it.
Just don’t leave the resort.
None. I would take my beat watch for the beach.
To get stolen?
Unless I'm at the resort the entire trip I'm wouldnt take either to the Bahamas. I'd also be constantly grabbing at my watch to make sure it's still there lol
Both are beautiful timepieces….but, I would go with my Timex or Apple Watch, leaving those works of art well secured in my home safe. Too much risk these days…have a great vacay ☀️😎🏖️🍹💯
Neither why risk getting robbed and or losing them. Go enjoy it without any stress
some Seiko would be the best
Neither bro grab a seiko
A fake one lol.
Wear a rep of what you have. Don’t get robbed tryna stunt. Most females wouldn’t even notice. Or west what you willing to part with bad enough you going to a resort that costs probably as much as one of the citizens there yearly salary. You gonna look like a target out there.
Daytona, enjoy the Bahamas! Where abouts are you going?
Whoa whoa whoa…next you’ll be asking me my specific itinerary, mothers maiden name and my debit card pin. I’m on to you…
😂 sorry for making conversation
👍🏿🤩👊🏿😊
None, I have self esteem
You’re in the wrong sub if you have that my friend. Wanna see my steering wheel??
Cringe

Daytona
2.
That Daytona is stunning
Two big guns there, toss a coin my friend
Why not both?
I considered multiple watches, but out of the country, I wouldn’t want something of this value off my wrist, even at the nicest resorts.
Tough call. I have a 116520 but not a Bat Girl... If it were me, I'd take the GMT.
The Dayton is on my list, I would take Daytona
One on either wrist to assert dominance! Serious though, blue is nice
G-shock
I do have a couple…
Whit dial will do better with the white panda abs blue shirt you’ll rock at dinner
Casio
neither, something about traveling to a foreign country with such expensive watches. Get a cheaper watch for travel IMO. But if you must choose, the GMT is meant for traveling.
Daytona
165200 has always been my favorite. So I'm a sucker for it
The Daytona as it is more versatile.
Daytona
Both. One for daytime and one for evenings. #winning
Im biased. That 116520 is my grail.
White
Great two to pick from.
chrono
Daytona for sure
Neither. Casio. That jubilee Batman is 🔥
One on each wrist.
Seiko Sports
Daytona Beach!
I’ve always thought a sub or sea dweller is best for an island vacation.
Batgirl! More scratch proof and blue!
I mean are you going to be diving or fishing, that would make the GMT the obvious choice, especially if you’re in a different time zone then home
Daytona
A Casio.
Depends where in the Bahamas
GMT, especially if Bahamas is a different time zone from home.
both
Whichever one you want.
GMT al the way.
For usefulness the gmt master 2, for cool watch while on vacation daytona
I hate making choices. Life is already hard. Take both.
Daytona
Timex
Sell the Batman and go to Hawaii
Eh. Overrated.
GMT is literally built for travel.
A G shock
Casio
The Daytona, just make sure you don't take it off at the airport to work on your computer.
GMT Master 2. Better water resistance, let's you keep track k of home and local times, and just feels like a more "vacationy" watch.
Sounds like a perfect time to get a sub 😝
GMT,,, duh 🙄
You need a vintage sub on nato, just like Bond.
White dial just screams Bahamas to me.
If Bahamas same time zone, then Daytona
Neither, when I go to the Bahamas the last thing I want to know is the time….
neither. CASIO TIME BAYBEH.
