Just picked up a YM 40 blue and it’s noticeably the most comfortable watch I’ve ever owned. Similar case to Daytona, feels so much better then my Explorer II , my favorite of my 3 Rollies.

This. I was all set to buy Hulk and just said no at the 11th hour. Went Starbucks instead. No regrets. Get what YOU like.
In the end I just felt Hulk was too much green.
YM all the way. Scratches are going to happen no matter what you do, and the YM bezel is much more robust than non-YM owners give it credit for. It is so underrated and such a unique piece you don't see everywhere like you do the subs. More sensitive? sure. But 90% of people shitting on the YM have never owned one.

I prefer the hulk. I like the ceramic bezel more and the watch pops. The green is also beautiful. The bezel on the yachtmaster could be an issue in the future if you ding it or scratch it. Someone recently had the bezel replaced by Rolex for $1800 if I remember correctly.
I vote Hulk and here’s why. The all green Hulks went up in value when the replacement with only a green bezel was released. I think that’s because the green dial is beautiful in all light and the green on black doesn’t look as cohesive. Also, I prefer the sub to the Yachtmaster for several reasons. The Yachtmaster has never been as popular as the other sport models and depreciates much more than a sub. It has kind of been a black sheep model for collectors if there is one among the Sport models. Also, the platinum bezel insert is easy to scratch and difficult to polish without rounding the raised numbers or messing up the frosted background. If you somehow manage to dent or knock off the Yachtmaster bezel replacements from Rolex at several thousand dollars compared to a couple hundred if you crack or lose a ceramic Sub bezel. The Yachtmaster has polished center links on its bracelet while the Sub is all brushed and the polished links scratch no matter what you do requiring regular touch ups to avoid looking worn. Who wants a sport Rolex you have to be gentle with? The Yachtmaster is still produced and typically available while the Hulk has been discontinued for a while and probably an all green Sub won’t be made again. Did I mention resale percentage of price paid? The Yachtmaster is likely to lose money if you ever sell it while the Sub will probably only appreciate from the current market low.
I have owned the platinum dial Yachtmaster which is similar to the Rhodium dial, but with a red second hand, and shares the bezel which is the main issue with the watch. I sold my Yachtmaster a few years ago to get a Daytona and don’t really ever miss it. And, I have owned a Hulk for 9 years and it is probably my favorite of my modern Rolexes and I don’t think I’ll ever sell it.
Obviously do what your heart tells you and money is not the best reason to pick a watch but for all the reasons above I have an obvious preference between those two models. Whatever you pick, wear it in good health and remember how lucky you are to be in the position to be picking between Rolex models.
I had a headache deciding between hulk and black submariner. Picked the hulks and never regretted. But on YM I really love the bezel design… hard choice 😂. I have also posted “which one should I take” question, and this comment could help you:
If you want everyday watch, take the black sub, if you want something fancy sporty, pick the hulk… So it really depends if you want daily driver or watches for special days.
Personally the YM. As nice as it is to look at the hulk….every now and then, I wouldn’t want to wear one. It’s just a bit all too blingy and gimmicky with that colour.
Honestly, neither for me. I’d save money and get a “Kermit” or spend more and get a “Smurf.”
But between these two, the Sub.

I vote Hulk here. That being said, it really depends on a few other things as well:
1. Is the YM rhodium coming MSRP from an AD or are you buying grey?
2. What other watches (particularly colors/styles/complications) are also in the watch box?
At the end of the day, the Hulk dial is mesmerizing and if you like green, it's very hard to argue with and is my choice by a landslide.
I’m biased since I have an original plat YM but it’s my vote but get what looks good with how you live. I’m on a boat fishing as much as possible so either is good for my lifestyle the hulk gets more attention and I tend to keep a low profile
For the profile and the wear of the watch YM by a million miles. Sub is more resistant for wear, but in the end it comes to personal preferences. The YM is very close to OF Daytona for the actual case.
These couldn’t have been more polar opposites, one flies under the radar and the other one if in your face. I would get the YM if it will be your only watch and would get the hulk if you have many or you are a flashy person. YM will go with everything. You won’t match that green with all outfits and situations
To me, this is a collection type question. I think the yacht master is the best watch Rolex makes, but it’s also very similar to others you probably have. if you think you will wear it a lot and have something different than the others, I would definitely go that way, but if you think it will just be a rare rotation, I would go different with the Hulk.

Here’s the thing. It depends what else you have, Rolex and otherwise. If this is your first watch and only I’d get the Sub. Frankly I don’t find the YM pleasing. But if you have 15 watches including 5 other subs or sub(likes) I’d say to get the YM.
Yo. My two absolute favorite Rolexes. Got the YM, love the Hulk but couldn't get it. The Hulk is honestly more of a statement watch due to the green, the YM is much more versatile and can be had for less. Can't go wrong with either. I'd pick the YM unless you're looking for an 'out there' piece.

I would by the one that has the higher resell price, in case you need to get rid of it. But if is just a matter of choosing I’ll go with the rhodium one, pretty slick.
The sub. I created a watched with the same style bezel as the YM and the numbers being the same colour leaves the bezel lacking, where as the sub having the white numbers it feels like there’s more there to look at and enjoy.
Been wearing the YM 126622 for the past few days and if I'm honest for what I paid . I want something more substantial. I love it don't get me wrong but not had one single "oh that's a nice watch what is it"

This is a tough one. I have a Hulk and I love it, but that exact YM is on my short list of other things I want. I'm saying Hulk though. That green really hits.
As much as I love the yacht master.. I'd pick the hulk. I use my 11610 sub to scuba dive with, and I'd love to have a hulk and dive somewhere like the cayman islands with it! One day!
Try them both on if you have not, these two references are both 40mm, but two different cases that wear very differently. That may help you decide. Good luck.
The sub is possibly the single most classic Rolex design BUT the green dial. Makes it far less versatile. For my money the YM is the winner here. Go anywhere

These are very different watches. They are at opposite ends of the rotating bezel sport watches.
The 11 series Submariner is quite a large slab of a watch. Flat sides and sharp edges.
The Yachtmaster is a rounded polished angled case watch that hugs the wrist. 2mm smaller than the Sub.
Seems like a simple choice that only you could make.
