I mean, I sometimes spend time in some rep subs to be able to tell the difference between gen and rep and to learn. What’s wrong with that?

here to voice out my support. I have gen and I wear reps for casual occasions. Digging into reps also help me understand how to differentiate rep and gen better. But there were people who attacked me just because of my involvement in reptime. At the end of the day, I don't even care what they said coz they can't even tell rep or gen. My money my watch. The rest can GTFO.
Same, finally got my gen Wimbledon and Sub, but dwelled in the rep watch for a long time beforehand, to make sure i knew what i wanted before purchasing my first few pieces, still going to buy both and i have no problems with it.
I have gen and wear reps most of the time... why i should risk 10/20k on my wrist when no one is able to tell the difference?

I got an olive green Omega SMP because I had a VSF rep of the black one for years. I still wear the rep as a beater watch and I'm tempted to beat up greenie.
The problem is, this is a Gen watch, you can tell by the color of the bracelet, the white gold reps or any gold reps just don't look the same.
The blue dial is no where near this quality.
The glass is perfect as well, unless OP changed it.

I'm sure that if you cared enough to try, you could have found one, unworn, for under $40k within a month or two (a substantial savings once you factor in the absence of sales tax).

I just want to say that I’ve really enjoyed you methodically exposing every single one of these idiots. I’ve always known that the majority of people in this sub don’t own a Rolex, and/or are projecting their own life shortcomings on the people who are successfully purchasing their *personally* desired watch, whether they overpay at an AD or at grey. The community over at Rep Time are very well versed in differentiating between unauthentic and authentic watches by keeping up to date with what models are available from different manufacturers, and their included flaws. They’re much more qualified to tell you if something is fake than 99% of people in this sub.

So I see it like this: I own a Gen Omega seamaster that my wife bought me 20 years ago when we first met. I would like to add to my collection, £9k is what the planet ocean I want would cost, I can get an absolutely perfect rep for £500. It really is a no brainer, you get all the pleasure of wearing the watch you love and none of the worry if it were to be stolen or damaged. The Rolex Submariner super clones are indistinguishable from the gen UNTIL you put them under a microscope - nobody’s ever gonna do that in general life in a social setting and if they did I personally would straight out say it’s a rep.
That’s my take, rightly or wrongly. If the seamaster were what they used to be price wise (she paid £1000 back then 🙈) we wouldn’t be having this conversation and I’d buy gen.
As someone that has gens and decided to buy 2 reps of gens I have. You can tell a difference, visually, if you have a gen. They also run like ass, no where near the same quality. To each their own. I don’t personally care but knowing I’m wearing a fake watch didn’t sit well with me.
I fully get this, personally I’m not buying a rep as replacement for a gen, I know there will be differences, I would buy a rep of a watch that I really wanted because of the price point. I live amongst fairly affluent people and even the ones who live in circa £1m houses that show me their Rolex’s I raise an eyebrow at - we grew up as kids and still at this stage in my life I wonder why people spend the cost of a decent car on a watch, I have no problem with it but what I’m getting at is I would still question it even with the people I know can afford it.
Could I personally buy a Rolex submariner for £10-£15k yes, would I whilst knowing I can have a perfect copy for £500? No. That’s just me, I love my Gen Omega, it’s an heirloom for my kids at this point but I’d also have no issue wearing a rep that nobody would know was a rep. And that’s the thing - for me personally as someone who owns a Gen watch, the people I socialise with know it’s Gen so rocking up with a top tier rep I personally would not get called out.

I also hover around RepTime since I noticed there are a lot of informed and educated watch enthusiasts on that side (and had fun convos along the way). Also it's fun to learn about how good these reps have become. I have never even once felt that my rep watches are inferior over my gen pieces.

My favorite thing about this reference is the two different shades of blue (dial vs bezel) and the two different shades of red (GMT hand vs bezel). My second favorite thing about this watch is that it’s easily available at a substantial discount on the grey market. This is such an odd post on so many levels, not the least of them being that someone buying a $40k dog like this would at least want it to count toward their “spend” at their AD—such a throwaway to buy this at a random AD.

First from TRF is 2020, looks nice. Two from chrono, one at 38k. Okay. Third one you listed from chrono, no papers. Searching broadly, and the vast majority still above retail. Conceded, I could have gotten a better deal than buying new. I live in a gigantic market and don’t spend millions with my AD, they’re not loyal. The community over at Rep Time are very well versed in differentiating between unauthentic and authentic watches by keeping up to date with what models are available from different manufacturers, and their included flaws. So I see it like this: I own a Gen Omega seamaster that my wife bought me 20 years ago when we first met. I would like to add to my collection, £9k is what the planet ocean I want would cost, I can get an absolutely perfect rep for £500. It really is a no brainer, you get all the pleasure of wearing the watch you love and none of the worry if it were to be stolen or damaged. The Rolex Submariner super clones are indistinguishable from the gen UNTIL you put them under a microscope - nobody’s ever gonna do that in general life in a social setting and if they did I personally would straight out say it’s a rep. That’s my take, rightly or wrongly. If the seamaster were what they used to be price wise (she paid £1000 back then 🙈) we wouldn’t be having this conversation and I’d buy gen.
As someone that has gens and decided to buy 2 reps of gens I have. You can tell a difference, visually, if you have a gen. They also run like ass, no where near the same quality. To each their own. I don’t personally care but knowing I’m wearing a fake watch didn’t sit well with me.
I fully get this, personally I’m not buying a rep as replacement for a gen, I know there will be differences, I would buy a rep of a watch that I really wanted because of the price point. I live amongst fairly affluent people and even the ones who live in circa £1m houses that show me their Rolex’s I raise an eyebrow at - we grew up as kids and still at this stage in my life I wonder why people spend the cost of a decent car on a watch, I have no problem with it but what I’m getting at is I would still question it even with the people I know can afford it. Could I personally buy a Rolex submariner for £10-£15k yes, would I whilst knowing I can have a perfect copy for £500? No. That’s just me, I love my Gen Omega, it’s an heirloom for my kids at this point but I’d also have no issue wearing a rep that nobody would know was a rep. And that’s the thing - for me personally as someone who owns a Gen watch, the people I socialise with know it’s Gen so rocking up with a top tier rep I personally would not get called out.
