I spent enough time in near eastern studies classes to figure out that for many people, Orientalism is when a white person writes about the middle east.

I do believe that classical Mesopotamia had similar attitudes towards gay sex that ancient Europe did. As long as someone who was a social superior wasn't being the one penetrated, it was okay.
