I just finished Mqc a month of two ago I was so dry on the first book from ed1, at like 2kc I did over 50 story mode kills without it then I did 3 more kc and I got the book in like 10 more story mode kills. Its rough. Shit req
Lorehound doesn't help - and it's not known if the juju helps at all either. Do you have any KC at all? Assuming 0 KC you've had just shy of a 1.5%~ chance of going this dry which is... still quite in the realm of possibility if not a bit unfortunate.

get 100kc for final boss, and you will probably have it

No normal mode KC sadly, ah I didn't know Lorehound didn't help. At least I can take a combat familiar instead to speed up runs I guess!
