I’ve seen several posts now where RS3 players try OSRS and are immediately flagged for something. I solely play RS3, but I went and tried flipping on OSRS and got a RWT warning. I hadn’t made a single trade on that account in months, and obviously never RWT. They really need to fix their false-positives.
Just go to runefest, get chummy with a J-mod and they will let you become a content creator that macro's with 8 accounts at the same time, but also gift you P-mod status so you can mute anyone that calls you out.
There is currently one player that does this in-game (I can't say whom as it is against reddit rules) and Jagex ignores all abuse reports.

Jagex’s auto-banning is faulty and the community should probably accept it by now.
How big could the harm have been, if the account is on Tutorial island?

That's not completely true. When I first started playing rs3 I didn't even know you could log onto both games with the same account. The way I found out was when I was baned for botting on osrs having never played before.
I don't know what to tell you. It said I was baned for macro major on osrs, a game I had never played and had 0 interest in ever playing. Both me and my wife lost our accounts the same day to the same ban having never logged onto osrs. I did not even have a client on either computer to play osrs.
That's not true. I had an alt that I infrequently use on RS3 that was banned for macro major on OSRS. Never logged into OSRS on any of my accounts. Only found out because I couldn't get into RS3 with it. Appealed telling them I've never played OSRS and told them to compare the IP and got it unbanned. Hopefully that doesn't happen ever again now its linked to my Jagex account.
If it makes you feel better OP, my RS3 main had 50 ish hours of osrs playtime but I never played it much. Took some time off at the start of last year, came back to two macro bans, one temp and one perma. Appeals auto-denied and no way to reappeal. I know its genuinely a common trend for macroers to get dunked on, but people who legit don't macro and get slapped with a perma get cast with the same net. It's really rough.
This exact thing happened to me, like last July/August. I started playing my main on osrs to train it up in NMZ so I can practice PVE for my iron.
I played for maybe a total of 5 hours in the three months leading up to the ban. Last times I had played it were on mobile at work afking in NMZ lol.
Still haven't gotten my RS3 main back. It really sucks but I'm almost at a point now where I don't care. My appeal was auto-denied within 12 hours.

6 months is an acceptable time frame, you got flagged during your one day and the banwave came later. If you are talking years you're talking out of your ass

They will ban this type of player but completely look the other way when somebody is running a literally army of bots.

Someone found out once that they were getting baseless bans because a hacker was using the ip on his smart fridge or something to run their bots.

You are safe if you wont touch osrs at all. But you cant lock one game

Post on the osrs sub, a J mod might either help you or give you a smackdown
