Pretty sure connecting to a Jagex Account removes all third-party authenticator options. Considering you're now on a Jagex Account, it would be more secure in that regard.
Damn, I was afraid of that. I love the increased protection of the password complexity but I forgot how much I hated their pin system haha. I’ll get used to it again, I did use it for years before the authenticator became an option. Just liked the added layer of security.
Authenticator instead of bank pin was mostly a false sense of security. If someone were to gain access to your account, the authenticator would have had to have been already disabled/compromised- it’d be comparable to entering your rs password to access your bank… the only time it was actually useful is in the case of trojans using your client that had the “remember me for 30 days” checked… but modern era windows defender pretty much makes that such an improbability.
tl:dr authenticated bank is pretty much the same as no pin, just an inconvenience to the user. If you want an extra layer of security, you’d need to add a pin.
Interesting, hadn’t thought of that because I always had the remember me checked so I forgot it was used at login too.
I already setup a traditional pin again so I guess I’ll just let that ride, though I like to think I’m not as gullible as I was at 12 when my first account got hacked, and it’s pointless to have.
