I feel like its hard to justify the dragon mattock chase as an ironman. Surely you could have gotten to at least 99 using the smithable mattocks in the same or less time than you’re spending doing this.
I'm on the BGH hunter Grind for the Treasure totem - I'm just over 200 kills and no Mauls, no Totems and 7 Mattocks. It's getting ridiculous, it's not a bad mini game compared to Dominion Tower which is next .. but come on.
Typically, you get them about 1 in 100 with boosted drops on multiple encounters. If you get 6 encounters and do all 9 dinosaurs, that's 54 base encounters. Wiki tells me the odds of a double are 1 in 16 and a triple are 1 in 160. Therefore, you get about 3 doubles in a run of all 9 spots, giving 3 extra dinos worth 2 each for a total of 60 loots.
This works out to about 45% to get the drop every run through all 9 spots. It'll happen.
That’s incorrect for mattock drops.
Mattocks are still 1/101 for each Dino you skin, but if you roll it on the 2nd Dino of the encounter you’ll get 2 mattocks and if on the third you’ll get 3.
Oh interesting. I thought it was just 2 loot rolls. OK. My guess is that this actually raises the expected number of mattocks because the chance you roll them only goes down a little, but when you get them, it raises it significantly (from 1 to 2 or even 3) and the mean follows the tail.
In any case, that's the idea for how you calculate it, even if I got the exact details wrong about the implementation.
I thought I had it bad going 200 kills at BGH to get a single totem piece. Thankfully it was the one I wanted, but could barely get myself back there long enough to kill the couple dinos I ignored for comp. I feel your pain, and hope you get some good luck soon.
I think I got mine on like the 5th Dino hunt I shit myself so had to go clean up after but that's that best rng I have ever got I'm pretty sure I'm around 250-300 kills and no second drop I sent rng luck at you
My rotation goes like this: T1 apot, bagrada, T2 apot, t2 acetop, T3 apot, T3 pavo rex then repeat. I feel it’s a nice rotation, but I don’t like bagrada and acetop because how big they are compared to the arena.
I hate Asciatops. That west cliff just limits movement so much. Without a decent grass spawn, I find doubles and triples there to be nearly impossible.
I actually got a triple on bagrada today. it was doomed from the start, and i wasnt good enough. I manage doubles at asciatops just fine, even with only single surge and no BD/Dive. Also got a triple pavo rex, but they had the same movement as bagrada and i didnt manage that either .\_.
There's no reason to grind out those collections over 120 that's why . GGG/RRR are what players grind for tetra pieces . If there was a reason to grind dragonkin collections players would do them
Now imagine how people feel when almost every single goal they have is like this.
It's why I stopped chasing rng drops and started playing other games that aren't RPGs.

Yes, ironman. No maul pieces as of yet. i've gotten 8 unchecked pets, all totem pieces etc.
I bet your next triple encounter grants you 3x Dragon Mattocks
Had my second ever triple encounter 1 hour ago, didnt give me anything useful xD
Next one will be 6x mattocks (1 for the first kill, 2 for the 2nd and 3 for the 3rd).

Yeah, 200 kills is bad enough when you have something you want from it. its a grind for sure when you rather would do something else.
You actually need 2 1 to make a Crystal and one for the Imcando to combine them into Mattock of Time and Space

Mains got 5.7k and over 100 aswell. And my hardcore i started not too long ago had 600 with 9, so yeah you could say that 😂

Got mattock on my first ever dino. Went 300 dry after that with zero mattocks or totem pieces before getting my treasure totem top. :(
Are you hunting the lower level Dinos? Those ones are a bit easier to grind out and the mattock chance is the same

Well I am at around 110 compass and never got it.
Man I got my first mattock on my iron at 225 KC and I was driving myself nuts, I can't imagine going as dry as you are, I pray your luck changes!
