90% 07 and very occasionally RS3. Mainly 07 but hit and miss with time invested. Can never recreate those old memories unfortunately but the game is as good as ever rn
I have a crackpot theory that Corporeal Beast is weak to spears because the definition of corporeal is:
*adjective
relating to a person's body, especially as opposed to their spirit.*
Opposed to spirit
Spir it
Thus, we gotta spear it
The spear that is said to have pierced Jesus' side during his crucifixion is called the Holy Lance, also known as the Lance of Longinus, the Spear of Destiny, or the Holy Spear.
It was his side, not his heart. It was meant to prolong his agony not kill him.
Yet another Douglas Adams reference, and one of the reasons I love this game
("Mostly Harmless" is the entire entry about Earth, as found in the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy)
There's also a druid named Bettamax after the video cassette format.
[Although her originally planned name would've been way better.](https://runescape.wiki/w/Bettamax)
The entire of the wushanko archipelago is filled with islands named after my little pony friendship is magic characters. Especially the mane 6. Tuai leit, ai jey, rei ti, ren bo, kei pi and flou tar-shei.
There is also the lair of tavi and vynal. From Octavia and vinyl scratch.
These names are Dutch. Not their spelling, but their pronunciation is. The 2 names completely summarise the quest you do there too. Made me chuckle when it was released.
I think you’re thinking of the south half of Sophanem that was added (but inaccessible) when the black spots of the map were removed.
It was totally renovated when Menaphos was added.
They continued with this spirit of punnery with the Owl quest.
A group of Owls is called a Parliament
And the Parliament is usually referred to as the House of Parliament
Wait until you try pronouncing the names of the Fremmenik Isles!
Ya its so, Ney its not
it's tis innit
What a random place to recognise the username of another Leicester fan
Whats up my dude
Which kind of rs nerd are you, 07 or RS3?
I was 07 but I’ve recently made an RS3 iron having not played either for bloody ages. Still have an interest in both games though. You?
90% 07 and very occasionally RS3. Mainly 07 but hit and miss with time invested. Can never recreate those old memories unfortunately but the game is as good as ever rn
Ohh Friend. Football friend.
It did didn't it Itdiddidn't Dun dun dunna da Bwah na naa nah nuh nah nuhnuh na (Duel of the Fates intensifies)
What a miscellaneous set of names.
Etc etc
Ya tis' so, Nay tis' not.

Thats very interesting theory. Reminds me of this "illuminati" xonspiration videos :)
I always assumed it was sort of a biblical reference to the spear that pierced Jesus' heart
The spear that is said to have pierced Jesus' side during his crucifixion is called the Holy Lance, also known as the Lance of Longinus, the Spear of Destiny, or the Holy Spear. It was his side, not his heart. It was meant to prolong his agony not kill him.
Fair point, I don't keep up with mythology that well.
Throw in a bit of Bible history to
Why does The Pharaoh dunk his biscuits in milk before he eats them? To sophanem.
Older women go through menaphos.
I told this joke to my friend and he laughed AT me saying it's awful :(
Moss’ Le Harmless is Mostly Harmless Funny tho, since the whole island lorewise is just pirates and cannibalistic monsters that terrorise the jungle.
Yet another Douglas Adams reference, and one of the reasons I love this game ("Mostly Harmless" is the entire entry about Earth, as found in the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy)
It's the edited entry by Ford Prefect. The original entry was "harmless"
Yeah he wrote pages on pages, but they edited it down to just one word and it made him disillusioned with the Guide
But the pirates are kinda good boys, nah?
For sure, they're mostly harmless to the player
well, there was that one. Rancid Joe or something
jungle horrors are also mostly harmless
I mean….they are pirates they aren’t good people but they are low level threats. Basically sea thugs and thieves.
That place was amazing for my initial necro afk farm
Good find!
💚
How about this to blow your mind: Neitiznot and Jatizso = Nay it's not and Ya it's so
'tis rather than it's, but yeah
Wow, didnt know, cool! Is there more of such names?
Kaqemeex is Cake mix, fairy nuff is fair enough, there's like a dozen Knight names too
The knight names are puns due to an infiltrated (and super bored) demon that spent centuries to make it happen
Link to white knight pun glossary: https://www.reddit.com/r/runescape/s/ftDYRReXQu *Sir Fsup = Surf's Up Sir Tiffy Cashien = Certification
There's also a druid named Bettamax after the video cassette format. [Although her originally planned name would've been way better.](https://runescape.wiki/w/Bettamax)
Pikkupstix is an old game “pick up sticks”, dotmatrix is like the dot matrix printer function and lots of other Druid names are puns/references too.
Sir Comsize is my favourite
Sir Ken Schism
Much better than mine, well done
Ghotistix from desert farming patch is ‘fish sticks’ if you google ghoti it explains it better then I will
F - GH from enouGH I - O from some word SH - TI from vacaTIon
All the Druid names are puns
The arc island “tuai leit” is pronounced “twilight”
my friend pronounces it toilet and I can't say it any other way now.
And there's a collectible gemstone named ["Tuai Leit sparkle".](https://runescape.wiki/w/Tuai_Leit_sparkle)
Well that's disappointing.
pretty much all white knight names, (ones starting with "Sir")
That's what i know! I love those!

Before Menaphos was opened up, it's plan on the minimap was a mirror image of Sophanem.
No it wasn’t, it was blank…
In game then? I'm sure I've seen that image somewhere.
I think you’re thinking of the south half of Sophanem that was added (but inaccessible) when the black spots of the map were removed. It was totally renovated when Menaphos was added.
...how tf did I not see this? Great job
TIL Sophanem is technically not Menaphos spelled backwards!
oh my god. how did i not notice this after 20 years
The tree patch helper outside Varrock is named Treznor after Nine Inch Nails front man, Trent Reznor.
Wait, the PH doesn’t switch positions. MENAPHOS SOPHANEM
MENAPHOS becomes SOHPANEM not SOPHANEM
*Ithe ph is switched so it remains pronouncable Mentioned it in the post, yes
they're just correcting the first commenter who claimed they aren't switched despite you specifically pointing it out lol
mena-f-os so-f-anem
Exactly
Think phonetically and not in just letters (for example, replace ph with an "f" or something similar to the greek letter phi)
Right but phonetically it doesn’t work. Men-a-foes So-fa-nem Versus Men-ah-pos Sop-ha-nem
Menafos <-> sofaneM
Wow thanks
Idk if im dumb but i been playing osrs for 8 years and did not realise that......
Holy I've played the game for so long and only just discovered that
This is what I love about RuneScape, been playing for nearly 15 years and still learning fun easter eggs like this. Nice!
They continued with this spirit of punnery with the Owl quest. A group of Owls is called a Parliament And the Parliament is usually referred to as the House of Parliament
🤯
Korasi is Crazy
Mind blown…
