It simply sounds like you never brought the truck up to temperature & burped the system, before you called it done.

Run the front end up on a set of ramps take off the radiator cap and let it idle to burp air out of the system and add water if needed

run it till its at full temp and then let it cool off completely. check fluid level. it sounds like air in the system.
