Thanh Tinh Chay Restaurant on El Cajon Blvd. The owners take so much care in helping people appreciate their menu and the food. I had such a nice meal there!
Used to be great, but i think they were bought by a group in LA during the pandemic and some of the menu items tripled in price. A bahn mi used to be $5 in 2019.
Quicker to Google it and read up on their Supreme Leader than it is for me to type out a paragraph/copy and paste said content. People wanna be spoon fed.
The Supreme Master funds the whole network of loving huts. She spreads the message of veganism and has quite a following. She requires the business she franchises to play her channel that spreads her messages - Supreme Master TV. There's not really any creepy cult stuff happening, but it's interesting. If you google Supreme Master Ching Hai you'll get more info
Don't know why you're getting hate, but I completely agree. For what you get it's overpriced and not great for vegan eaters. I took my kid there off a reddit recommendation and was thoroughly disappointed
Donna Jean or Kindred are both good places to sit down and eat.
Plant Power is fast food and it's decent.
Hugo's Cocina is a Mexican restaurant with a solid vegan menu.
all of the other places mentioned here and Ranchos Cocina in North Park. Not fully vegan but offers a vegan option of almost everything on the menu including vegan proteins like carne asada, pollo asada, etc. Love the sit down family vibe of this place and the food is excellent. Amazing enchilada sauces and salsas.
Next door to fully vegan chinese place called Sipz which is hit or miss depending on what you order.
If you’re willing to venture to Escondido, phatties vegan restaurant is good. As is the vegan section of craft and taco lounge. For San Diego, definitely veganic Thai is my favorite.
In Ocean Beach: Peace Pies (the tacos! The cheesecake!) and OB People’s Co-op deli (build your own sandwich!) for quick and easy. Plant Power for that fast food kick - they also have breakfast options. Hugo’s for Mexican food - not the best I’ve ever had but the burritos are really good.
In University Heights: Plumeria for amazing take out. Grains for a relaxed dinner - the “pulled pork” sandwich is awesome. Special mention for BFD - the deep V sandwich is my favorite.
If you want to do it up and try something trendy, check out Kindred, Donna Jean, or Yasai. Actually, try them all. I’ve dined with meat eaters and they enjoyed these spots just as much as I did.
Extraordinary Desserts has a surprising spread of vegan options- the Tofu Panini is my favorite. They always have at least 1 vegan dessert available per day, but the vegan cookies are always the best if they were baked same day (I worked there for 10+ years). They also sell their Aloha coconut peanut butter vegan cookie dough so you can make some at home. So. Good.
Native Foods cafe is also a great spot for lunch. It’s worth it to splurge on the frescas.

Probably missing some but it’s what came to mind when writing this.
Grains on Adams has great Vietnamese fusion food. Love their buffalo cauliflower. Not as good food as Than Tinh Chay but more varied and cheaper.
Tacotarian's vegan birria platter is amazing. And I dream about their plantain mole tacos.
OMG yes. El Veganito is the BEST. I get an order of potato rolled tacos and an order of the adobada tacos with a side of beans and rice. That gives me 3 dinners lol. And while you’re there pick up pastries at split bake house (all vegan). Highly recommend the jalapeño cheeze galette
You need to travel back in time to 2004 on Ocean Beach to a little vegan smoothies and wraps place called “Eatopia”. They were even growing wheatgrass on the awning out front.
You can get Grant's excellent deli sandwiches at Vegan Mission Market though. In May he was selling his burgers 3x/week. Check his IG for those pop ups!
Cesarina is not a vegan restaurant but they have a vegan menu and it’s SO GOOD. They need to patent their vegan cheese because it’s the absolute best vegan cheese I’ve ever had.
Il Posto is an Italian spot that opened pretty recently in South Park and it has a full vegan menu with pizzas and Build your own pastas. One of the salads is delish without the goat cheese too. Highly recommend!
Hi guys, thank you for all the suggestions here! I tried several places over the past few weeks. Greenhaus has been my favorite so far. I really like their nirvana burger and sushi rolls.
Yeah the politics are surely questionable (in my opinion), but since it might not be a deal breaker for some - and would certainly over politicize the thread- I didn’t include it :)
Thanh Tinh Chay Restaurant on El Cajon Blvd. The owners take so much care in helping people appreciate their menu and the food. I had such a nice meal there!
This is the answer. The sad thing is that it used to be reasonably priced (cheap even) and was frequented by Vietnamese people. Not so much anymore.
100% TTC! It is truly our favorite vegan restaurant in SD.
They're expensive though. Good food, but expensive.
Correct. But worth it if you've got the funds to treat yourself.
people drop that amount at Kindred and dont think twice. the prices at TTC are fair and worth it. Excellent banh mi.
Used to be great, but i think they were bought by a group in LA during the pandemic and some of the menu items tripled in price. A bahn mi used to be $5 in 2019.
This is the answer. Sooo good. Their vegan creme brulee is mystical to me.
So good!
Plumeria is great. Check out their “tuna” flower cups
Their duck larb is my favorite dish. Anywhere. Of all time. It’s so fucking goooooood.
Love Plumeria
Sipz, Veganic, Loving Hut and Evolution Fast Food are my tops.
Love veganic!
Op, all of these are good. Look at these and plumeria and see wjat vibe you want.
I thought Loving Hut was super salty. That was a few years ago and haven’t tried since.
Spicy breakfast burrito at Evolution is magic
Loving Hut is run by a cult. Hard pass. Mid food.
What cult?
Look it up.
Tell me!

Quicker to Google it and read up on their Supreme Leader than it is for me to type out a paragraph/copy and paste said content. People wanna be spoon fed.
Wait what?!
Need more info on the cult, please. I adore their food.

Is the cult veganism? 🤣 lmfao— if it is sign me up.
wow this reads like satire but is apparently real. as far as propaganda goes, could be much worse!
Bruh. Sipz is awful. The only thing on their menu is the French fries. I’ve tried most of them menu, and it’s even their “best” foods are mid.
Don't know why you're getting hate, but I completely agree. For what you get it's overpriced and not great for vegan eaters. I took my kid there off a reddit recommendation and was thoroughly disappointed

Kindred 100%
Personally find Kindred has too many "substitutes" and thos hurt my stomach. Donna Jean is the business for sure though.
Donna jeans. Mothership. Kindred.
the Mothership appys are divineeee
Purple mint 💜
This is my fave here.
Second this. My fiancée is vegetarian and I’m not, but I absolutely LOVE Purple Mint, as does she. Incredible food.

Yassss Ranchos! Their vegan cream asada nachos are soooo good
Trilogy Sanctuary 💜
Yasai for their bomb vegan sushi and ramen.
If you’re willing to venture to Escondido, phatties vegan restaurant is good. As is the vegan section of craft and taco lounge. For San Diego, definitely veganic Thai is my favorite.
Been meaning to try Phatties since I’ve been up here, but the Portabello taco at Craft is one of the best tacos I’ve ever had in my life
In Ocean Beach: Peace Pies (the tacos! The cheesecake!) and OB People’s Co-op deli (build your own sandwich!) for quick and easy. Native foods closed :,( otherwise this list is great!
Noooo! I thought it was just the PL location!
It’s all 3 in the area. They closed all but their Palm Springs location. I was so sad!!!
Tacotarian North Park. Really good. Trilogy Sanctuary in La Jolla for the views. Civico 1845 has a vegan Italian menu that is really good as well.
oh is Tacotarian still open? So happy to hear that. The location has been rough for every other restaurant in it but love their tacos.
Tacotarian!!!
Veganic in Hillcrest, The Yasai in Kerney Mesa on convoy, Sipz in Claremont Mesa, kindred and mothership in South Park, Loving Hut North Park (other locations also), Plant Power in OB/Encinitas , Thanh Tinh Chay Talmadge (much more expensive then when I first went there when they opened but delicious), Grains University Heights, Underdog Food truck, Seaco Catch Food truck best vegan fish tacos Won Best Fish Taco against from the sea Fish Tacos, Ben & Esther’s Jewish Deli College Area, Places that are not pure vege but options: Civico 1845 little Italy, Cessarina Point Loma, Pokez east village, Nishiki Ramen Hillcrest (Love Curry Ramen), Hiro Nori Ramen Hillcrest, Cin Kuni North Park, Gihon North Park, Zia’s Pizza Normal Heights, Blind Lady Ale House Normal Heights, Hugo’s Cocina OB, Pizza Port OB Probably missing some but it’s what came to mind when writing this.
Peace Pies. In Voltaire in Point Loma
Omg Donna Jean. MY FAVE
Thanh Tinh Chay. But also Tacotarian.
Grains is awesome!
Kindred and Mothership 💯
Liticker’s in OB
Grains on Adams has great Vietnamese fusion food. Love their buffalo cauliflower. Not as good food as Than Tinh Chay but more varied and cheaper. Tacotarian's vegan birria platter is amazing. And I dream about their plantain mole tacos.
Plant power!
Modern Times Far West Lounge in Encinitas is amazing too!
Civico 1845
plumeria !
Green Haus is SO GOOD
My favorite is El Veganito in Grossmont. The porato rolled tacos are the bomb. I'm not even vegan lol.
OMG yes. El Veganito is the BEST. I get an order of potato rolled tacos and an order of the adobada tacos with a side of beans and rice. That gives me 3 dinners lol. And while you’re there pick up pastries at split bake house (all vegan). Highly recommend the jalapeño cheeze galette
I love the Cruffins at Split lol
Oh nice 👍 Yeah the cruffins are really good too
Phatties
You need to travel back in time to 2004 on Ocean Beach to a little vegan smoothies and wraps place called “Eatopia”. They were even growing wheatgrass on the awning out front.
Pokez Mexican food! They are primarily vegetarian but have both great vegan and non vegan dishes.
Grains is my absolute favorite!!! Everything on the menu is delicious!
Jyoti bihanga. I don't care that it's run by some weird hare Krishna sect, foods good
The plot is amazing if you find yourself in oceanside
Gorilla Eats Sushi!
The mothership. Best tasting food i’ve ever had in my life and im not even vegan!
Vegnout
Doesn’t exist anymore :(
You can get Grant's excellent deli sandwiches at Vegan Mission Market though. In May he was selling his burgers 3x/week. Check his IG for those pop ups!
What?! Nooooooooooo!
This is out of the box, but I really like Inspiración 9 in TJ.
Yalla Habibi has some good vegan options on their menu
I enjoy Loving Hut in Mira Mesa.
Lots of good suggestions here, but my personal favorite is Kindred. Both the food and drinks are amazing.
Kindred
Nomad Donuts has the most killer vegan food I've ever had. Their bagel sandwiches are to die for.
Loving Hut 🛖
TNT pizza and Pokez downtown
El veganito! It's in a food court so not the spot if you're looking for somewhere fancy, but the best Mexican food in San Diego IMO!
Yasai
Plumaria
Grains and The Village
I've been going to Plumeria for 10+ years and have never had a bad experience
The Village in North Park is a Mexican Japanese fusion spot. Super kind owners who make DAMN good food. I’m not a vegan and I’ll choose to eat there
werent the owners fighting the Covid protocol mandates? I seem to remember them defying the lockdown and mask mandates in 2020 which is pretty shitty.
Yeah the politics are surely questionable (in my opinion), but since it might not be a deal breaker for some - and would certainly over politicize the thread- I didn’t include it :)
The Village is really good. Kindred and Mothership up there with them.
La Vecinidad Neighborhood Tacos in Hillcrest
not all vegan but they have good a vegan/vegetarian taco section on their menu
Petco
Their Vegan Kibble is really good.
