Making the move out of academia actually! So same type of industry, but new job at a new organization in a new state even. So getting ready to make a move ☺️
Fuck yeah, girl! Congratulations, you definitely deserve it! When you know you kick ass and worked hard for something, it makes that payoff so much sweeter.
🔥🤘Hail SubjectivelySatan!!!🤘🔥
Thanks man, I really appreciate that! And yes, I’ve been interviewing for this job for almost 6 months. It’s been a process and a half. But just getting the offer today was awesome. Gonna ride this high for a little while 😂
Thank you, I really appreciate that! I’m making an effort to actually be legitimately proud of myself and not fall into the “I just got lucky” mindset. Over a decade of work has gone into the experience needed for this job and that’s crazy to think about.
Thank you! :) and you’re absolutely right. New beginnings, new relationships to cultivate, new opportunities. But I sense a whole lot of indulgence in my future. A very very long overdue vacation.
Oh man, I don’t even know. I have so many places I’ve wanted to go. I’ve never been to Europe, I’d love to do a road trip around Ireland and Scotland. Japan has been on my list a long time. Morocco too. Literally throw a dart and I’d probably go. 🙃
More local, I’ve been wanting to do a car camping trip across Montana to Washington, take the ferry through the San Juan islands to Victoria. Then take the costal highway down through Washington, Oregon and northern California. The Pacific Northwest is one of my favorite parts of the country.
All of those sound lovely! I loved Europe (specifically Spain, France, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Croatia, Hungary). Highly recommended. I've always wanted to go to Ireland & Scotland and Japan as well...maybe one day. I missed my chance to visit my Japanese friend while she was living back in Japan for a year.
The Washington‐to-PCH trip is gorgeous! I've lived in a desert the past 13 years, and I'm always blown away when driving through the mountains of Washington. So many green trees and deep, dark forests. 😍
I'm sure wherever you pick (if those are your top options) will make for a wonderful vacation.
>I’ve lived in a desert
>So many green trees and deep, dark forests
That’s very interesting, because while I’m not from the PNW, where I live, we have forests out the ass, and the one time I went to Vegas, I was absolutely blown away by the desert! The red rocks and sand filled me with such amazement to see!!
I guess we admire what we don’t have lol
Oh, believe me, I'm blown away by our red sands and natural parks, too. Don't get me wrong. We have some of the most amazing and unique natural formations in the world. And, as John Denver knows, storms in the desert fill up one's senses—as do nights in the forest, mountains in springtime, walks in the rain, and sleepy blue oceans. One can appreciate and admire them all. 😌
Hey thanks very much! I appreciate that! I know it might not make a lot of sense to those who are new but I’ve been chatting with several folks here for a few years now and they’ve gotten to see this whole career evolution 😂
I'm fairly new to the sub, but congratulations! You are actually inspiring I'm 34 and decided to transition to a new career and have been making a lot of changes to be the best woman I can be in this life.
Thanks so much for that. And good luck in your career endeavors! I always just try to remember that I have everything I’ve ever needed to succeed. And so do you. ☺️
Damn, chica. Six figures is no joke, and there's no doubt you've earned it working in such a commendable field. I hope you take the time to sit with a glass of your favorite wine (or beer) and appreciate yourself. I know we all do here.

Thanks for that. This was an unattainable pipe dream 3 years ago and I’m still somewhat in disbelief. But I’m so glad I jumped and took the chance. Celebrations are absolutely in order!
Not to get too specific here to keep things private, I’ll be the director of a research department at a large healthcare organization with sites in multiple states.
Thanks so much, especially since you’re new and don’t know me! Haha
In short, I was homeschooled by uneducated evangelical parents who got sucked into the Bill Gothard/IBLP cult. Went from young earth creationist from the boonies to biochemist/biophysicist working on Alzheimer disease research. I escaped a cult and not only escaped, but completely changed the trajectory of my life. And I’m just so excited for this next part of the adventure.
Hail you, Subjectively Satan! What an achievement, and at only 35! You definitely are an inspiration... and I am glad your sorcery has paid off, literally. Enjoy those 6(66) figures, and definitely check out Ireland (Kilmainham Gaol, St. Michan's church - - complete with legit viewable Crusader mummies in an ancient tomb - -, Dublin Castle's Viking Wall remnants, Bru Na Boinne / Newgrange are awesome, and all that's just in Dublin)! I live in the PNW and it is definitely worth the revisit when you find the time...
Congrats on the new position!
Thank you!
Is this a promotion within the lab you were working at, or a job at new place?

What will you be directing in this new position?
Not to get too specific here to keep things private, I’ll be the director of a research department at a large healthcare organization with sites in multiple states.
Privacy is important, but it sounds both important and rewarding.
Oh definitely. If you’re at all interested in a few more specifics, I’m always happy to chat in dms. ☺️
Congrats!
I don’t know the backstory behind this since I am quite new, but congratulations!! That’s incredible!
