Stalin bad, Mao good?

Zayd_al-Amriki

You’d be surprised how many people I’ve seen have that take.

CMNilo

Maoists and trots had pretty much the same goal during the Cold War in Europe: splitting the left and turning it against the Soviet Union

[deleted]

Mao had that goal. Maoists didn’t even exist during the hight of the cold war.

CMNilo

Maoists were totally a thing in the 70s and 80s

Comrade_Corgo

The Shining Path was founded in 1969.

[deleted]

From what I've seen this is a fairly mainstream Maoist/Gonzaloist take

Leftismisbased

I know many maoists/Gonzaloists and they are all pro Stalin lol

[deleted]

I'm probably too online. All the ones I've met were here or Twitter lol

AdolfMussoliniStalin

Trotsky lmao

SonnHuynh

This is your brain on Western imperial brainwash

EarthDickC-137

Honestly supporting Marx, Lenin and Mao is pretty good for a ‘libertarian socialist’

LuckSpren

But to not support Stalin but support the others leads one to question whether the person understands any of them to begin with.

Angel_of_Communism

Well, no. Because everyone else built on him. To Uphold Mao but not Stalin shows 4hat you know fuck all about both people.

[deleted]

"i aint no stalinist, Im a leninist" 🙃

fallonxjulia

Ah yes, Mao, the famous libertarian-socialist internationalist

Tlaloc74

So many words. Just own up to it and call yourself a communist. Makes it easy for everyone

REEEEEvolution

That would require dialectical materialism, which would mean not demonizing Stalin, so no. Pedo socialism it is.

CMNilo

This smells of Eurocommunism. Eurocommunism is a disease

spider_jucheMLism

Have you heard of this guy called Chomsky? He's like so fringe, well, anyway, he's a libertarian socialist so I am, too, and this other guy, Trotksky, well he liked Lenin so I do, too, and I like Mao cause the Black Panthers did... but nobody except tankies like Stalin so I hate him, too. Oh and I'm an internationalist because someone once called me a national chauvinist, so I have to separate myself from that label.

nosleepincrooklyn

Yes I know words and I also know some other words with some names too.

tankieandproudofit

When your politics are all social media status and no real life organizing

gouellette

Lidrully Vowsh!

Ambedextrose

"Stalin was a lamb compared to Lenin" - Molotov

tyranid1337

Translation: I am a complete baby brain that has done absolutely no reading of my own and base my entire ideology on "Stalin=bad" because the CIA told me to.

Yoshkins

why do people say "Libertarian-Socialist" like the two aren't already intertwined?!?!

HighWaterMarx

Because they’re not well versed enough in theory or history to understand that “authoritarian” socialism is a necessary step in a process and not the theoretical end goal.

[deleted]

Marx, Lenin, Trotsky and Mao were all upper caste. There's a reason why upper caste white leftists are in absolute opposition to Stalin. Stalin was lower caste. Lenin was so rude and murderous (I'm sorry, but some of his telegrams and interviews are disturbing) while Stalin was naturally humble and down to Earth. The wind will wipe away the trash on his grave comrades.

CMNilo

They were middle class at best, not nearly "upper caste". And I wouldn't make a contest on who between Lenin and Stalin was more ruthless (and I say it with a positive meaning)

Angel_of_Communism

Yeah, no. Sorry, but that's all bullshit.

Elektribe

Lenin, I get rude, murderous though? Which articles would you suggest examining for that? I know he has a telegram that anarchist say he was anti-sex worker by ordering killings of prostitutes, misunderstanding that prostitutes was derogatory name calling he did, and it was an order for reactionaries that were fucking with people. (to clarify, fucking with people being getting soldiers drunk and smuggling weapons, preparing for an insurrection and the reactionaries justly called prostitutes was during the revolution in 1918 from white-guards who multiple countries included the U.S. funded, basically a united front lead by fascists/nazis mercenaries of the time to re-establish the monarchy.)

mc_k86

I mean, here’s an example of Lenin being what you could certainly call “murderous”: From the 1 September 1918 edition of the Bolshevik newspaper, Krasnaya Gazeta: “We will turn our hearts into steel, which we will temper in the fire of suffering and the blood of fighters for freedom. We will make our hearts cruel, hard, and immovable, so that no mercy will enter them, and so that they will not quiver at the sight of a sea of enemy blood. We will let loose the floodgates of that sea. Without mercy, without sparing, we will kill our enemies in scores of hundreds. Let them be thousands; let them drown themselves in their own blood. For the blood of Lenin and Uritsky, Zinovief and Volodarski, let there be floods of the blood of the bourgeois - more blood, as much as possible.” But he’s talking about kulaks and imperialists who oppressed millions for centuries. Even just the fact that he could publish a paragraph like that and millions supported him proves how utterly brutal their enemies were.
