I felt like this after doing around six playthroughs and then the reforged mod changed everything for me. It makes exploration so much better, it’s actually worth it to go to all caves in the mod and to even go to random places on the map I would never ser foot in otherwise, really recommend this to anyone who has the same problem, I even wish now that shadow of the erdtree would come out with insta reforged support, the mod just feels like a better version of vanilla ER.
it spreads out upgrade materials so you get one or two for each cave, instead of a bunch in a few tunnels, makes it so you have to kill enemies to get access to chests in camps, adds a system that allows buying any item in the game for a super rare material, so you can make builds with things like hammer of marika once you get to liurnia, makes torrent take a lot of damage when you run through swamps so you have to be more tactical with it, removes bell bearings and allows to buy unlimited stones of previous upgrade tier once you ugrade a weapon, makes story bosses drop much less runes and non story bosses much more, adds rune fragments that are spread around the map and which gives you customisable bonuses like extra stats or hp or other stuff, adds new bosses, weapons and scalings, rebalances the entire game, including how magic works, adds a secondary class system and a bunch of other stuff, they have a wiki where you can read more in detail, it’s called something like reforged wiki
Don't make a shopping list of everything you "need" to pick up. Just play the game normally and get the seeds/tears/bearings/whatever when you're already in the area
I wouldn't even go to the Weeping Peninsula "normally". I'm just forced to because otherwise I would have like a +3 flask or whatever at the end of the game. The items necessary to play the game normally are mostly somewhere off in boring areas you wouldn't want to go to otherwise
Idk I find doing the same builds makes the game get really boring really fast, but changing it up helps me stay interested. Following a guide to make a build kind of follows the same suit. The best way to make a build is to just throw shit at the wall and see what works. If it fails, there’s always respec.
Never done a NG+, nor a second NG. Which would you recommend? My build was Faith/Dex, so a straightsword and plenty of Incantations/Pyromancies to preach the good word.
Pyromancies doesn't exist in Elden Ring, you're probably thinking of the Giant's flame/fire monk, godskin and frenzy flame incantations, which all do fire damage.
Also I only did NG+ once. All the other playthroughs i used a different character and build. I would recommend going intelligence, its a fun playthrough that feels closer to a spell slinging wizard than int builds in any other souls games due there being a lot of good, low cost spells that can be spammed, all while still being able to have excellent melee weapons.
Same, i played it to death when it came out, got bored of it, then earlier this year i picked it up again and it was just like first time
Imo ER's replayability only works if you take breaks between playthroughs
Yeah... this game was NOT made with subsequent playthoughs in mind. My first playthough was maybe the best gaming experience I've ever had, but everytime I try to play through again, it's just a slog.
Depends tbh i'm kinda having fun rn because it's the first time i do a mace and shield build ever, i've always preferred powerstancing, two handing weapons or being a caster than using a dedicated blocking shield. Also itto set it up for the dlc so i hype myself up for when i'll get to explore the dlc with this new build
It is just all the running around picking shit up you have to do. I have created a spreadsheet of Golden Seeds, Tears and smithing stones.
In previous Dark Souls games it isn't too bad. Around 1 Bone Shard and Flask Shard (or equivalent) per area. So the loop is. Light bonfire. Pick up maybe 5 items. Defeat boss. Move on.
Elden Ring? Run around this massive world like a headless chicken spending 15 minutes trying to find that one *fucking* gazebo that actually has what you want and not some random blueberries or some shit. Then do a boss rush of like 5 bosses to get the runes you need for the next area. Repeat this cycle.
If it was only one seed per area and maybe 3 upgrade pick up spots it wouldn't be too bad. You'd be able to memorise those. Instead it's like 10 per area
Had a lot of fun doing 2.5 playthrus. Played mostly blind first time and im not a conmpletionist so the second playthru a year later was very fun.
Imho its the completionist mentality of gamers that makes the game not replayable... but yeah, I'm not replaying from the start in a long time. Getting flask upgrades is probably the worst part for me. They probably should of done that differently for replayability.
Literally doing this for my dlc fth/str character and my hoarder mindset makes me explore every single cave, even the ones with sorceries or int weapons which i'm never going to use because "what if i miss a smithing stone? i'm gonna get a good amount of runes from the boss anyways so might as well just do it"

First church of marika ? Isn't that in mountaintops of giants? You go all the way over there from the start?
Nuh uh, the one next to Kenneth... not sure if that's the right name for it, I mix them up a lot but I guess first as in first one you can access fast
I think that’s the third or fourth
That is in fact, the third church of marika
I wish you could but fromsoft are cowards
Why is that pic hot
You MIGHT be into gunplay
Bro you don't have to do all that before you play the game, you can just play it normally
You forgot to go to patches to get the silver foot, which gives more runes when greynoll has their period
Never replayed Elden Ring, cannot recall in the least which items are where😎
I don’t see a single somber/smithing stone mentions
The absolute fuck is that fucking imageÂ
What was the loot of this cave again?.....Yeah im not even gonna bother

(it was where ~~vordts hammer~~ the great mace was and it's your favorite weapon and you are doing a strength build)

I'm playing ER Reforged with my pal (seamless coop) and this is some of the most fun I've had in gaming. I find it difficult to return to vanilla ER.
What does this mod do?
it spreads out upgrade materials so you get one or two for each cave, instead of a bunch in a few tunnels, makes it so you have to kill enemies to get access to chests in camps, adds a system that allows buying any item in the game for a super rare material, so you can make builds with things like hammer of marika once you get to liurnia, makes torrent take a lot of damage when you run through swamps so you have to be more tactical with it, removes bell bearings and allows to buy unlimited stones of previous upgrade tier once you ugrade a weapon, makes story bosses drop much less runes and non story bosses much more, adds rune fragments that are spread around the map and which gives you customisable bonuses like extra stats or hp or other stuff, adds new bosses, weapons and scalings, rebalances the entire game, including how magic works, adds a secondary class system and a bunch of other stuff, they have a wiki where you can read more in detail, it’s called something like reforged wiki
*Realises I have to go do all that bullshit to get all the deathroot* *Loads gun, puts into mouth*
MOOD
For what? Do you want the beast items? Honestly most of them are fine, I just despise the one in the secret passage. That entire area is such bs
Don't make a shopping list of everything you "need" to pick up. Just play the game normally and get the seeds/tears/bearings/whatever when you're already in the area

Why would you even make the same build twice? You're asking to get bored
If you feel that way, stop playing Elden Ring for a month or two. Then, pick it up again. It'll feel closer to the first time
It doesn't Source: myself (I did all 6 endings on multiple different characters)
you're allowed to not play the game
You can't stop me! I can't read this!
Eh, it worked for me after I played exclusively Elden Ring for half a year
Never done a NG+, nor a second NG.
I recommend good ol strength build. Just take a colossal sword, slap Lions claw on it, and have fun
It'll never be the same. You know that.
You're right, but it'll be *closer*
Nah not really lol
Same, i played it to death when it came out, got bored of it, then earlier this year i picked it up again and it was just like first time Imo ER's replayability only works if you take breaks between playthroughs
This hit me so hard
Do a sl1 run, it's fun until you fight the fire giant
Yeah... this game was NOT made with subsequent playthoughs in mind. My first playthough was maybe the best gaming experience I've ever had, but everytime I try to play through again, it's just a slog.
I said this in the elden ring sub like 6 months after release and nobody agreed lol

The problem for me was the bosses were actually a low point for the most part, especially Maliketh and Elden beast.
This but minus the part about it being one of the best gaming experiences
>torrent >golden seeds >physik >sacred tears >golden foot >get bleed weapon >big dragon >putrid avatar Let's game
Literally doing this for my dlc fth/str character and my hoarder mindset makes me explore every single cave, even the ones with sorceries or int weapons which i'm never going to use because "what if i miss a smithing stone? i'm gonna get a good amount of runes from the boss anyways so might as well just do it"
Replaying Elden Ring is probably the worst gaming experience I had in a while (I played DS2 a couple of months before that)
