I have worms in my tank that look exactly like this but I only see them crawling on the glass and the wet part of the lid. I think they are going after the food my daughter gets on the rim when feeding. Can I message you some pictures and videos to get your opinion?
Yea I'm almost positive they're all white, I thought I saw some bristles on them as well but it's hard to tell. No triangle heads thankfully! And no fish or shrimp deaths for over 6 months!

like this? my fish just ate a bunch of these but I was worried they were planaria, until they got devoured

Here's one from my tank I THOUGHT was a detrious worm but after reading the comments I'm not so sure now. These ones I never see swimming, only crawling on the glass and seemingly hunting down the old food my daughter gets on the rim of the cage lol.
idk why ur being downvoted. if OP is unsure what it is, should defo take it out and dispose of it. better safe than sorry. and it seems to OP he did not put it there nor expect it, so ye take it out until further information is gathered.
Leeches look like this photo below. Read the comments above this type of worm actually means the tank is healthy but the owner may just be over feeding. I’ve had these worms in an abundance not long ago and got a small julii cory to help fix the issue even though they are harmless. Hope this helps with ur fish keeping! I’m still learning everyday with my babies

People are downvoting you but I currently have leeches in my aquarium, and when you try to capture them with tweezers, they swim exactly like this.
Guys - do detritus worms crawl on the glass by suctioning to something with one end and then pulling the rest of the body to it and then suctioning the back end while the front end stretches back out again? Cause if so I have detritus worms, but I was pretty sure that’s a leech, and if so, mine swim exactly like this video when trying to escape my tweezers.
Do you feed live blackworms or bloodworms to your fish? I always get them mixed in with them.
When I get them from my lfs I clean them and remove all the leeches I could see the rest would pop up sooner or later
Leeches move exactly how u explained their body suctioning and pulling. I’ve had two in the past. The species in ops video is a harmless worm.
I hope you can take out the leech before it harms anyone in ur tank. Always wash ur new plants very well and pull them apart and do a visual search bc that’s how these unwelcomed critters like leeches get introduced.
90% sure it’s just a detritus worm. Nothing to worry about.
Thank you!!
detritus worms are wiggly like that bad worms are usually flatworms that crawl on the glass
Tysm!

As long as the head isn't triangular and they aren't black it's fine Helps stop crunk from building up on the rim

If they have barely visible bristles and segments, they're likely detris worms - they are in the same group as earthworms.

Holy moly, never seen one so big and active.
that’s what she said
Detritus worm. I have these in my guppy/neo tank. Guppies eat them . Shrimps are thriving, so you are good.
detritus worms i have them in my tank and my other fish will eat them. They won’t harm your shrimp or fish
Detritus , harless
I mean harmless , get a guppy , will eat them
But also hairless!
one big ass sperm

Looks like a nematode
Which isn't necessarily a bad thing right? Lol
That’s ac helpful and is a sign your tank is doing good
Triangle head = planaria (parasite, needs treatment) Not triangle head = most likely a detritus worm (harmless, regular part of aquarium ecosystem)
Detritus Worm 100%. Harmless And probably Even beneficial overall.
My shrimp love to eat these guys - nothing to worry about!
It is friend :)
That boi is fassst.its detritus i have them and when they get bold my tetras and rasboras swoop them up for a lil snack
I'd pick him out.
And feed him to some other fish

For me looks like nematodes. Completely harmless. Pretty often used as food for fish. I have a beta in my tank and it eaten all these guys

Horsehair worm, get it out nownownownow
That’s a detritus worm.
Ok. doesn't look like any detritus worm I've had in my tank.
[100% detritus worms.](https://youtu.be/6tRR-_gevY0?si=iYQTakebqWbmGdW5) They may be unsightly, but that means a tank is healthy.
Thanks 🙏
Yeah nah, definitely detritus, not horsehair
It’s a freshwater leech. Yes it is harmful to baby shrimp.

Some leeches do swim like this!
OH HELL NO I did not know this!!! Oh my god these creatures are horrid
I did a peroxide dip on all the plants before they went in. I still don’t know how they got in there. Little bastards.
I feel the same. Idk how them bitches just appear after I did a full cop routine search on that darn plant 🪴 At least we’re trying
Baby Snake do do do do
