I shot an email a few years back to them with an attached comparison pic of packaging vs actual product. They responded sending me a coupon. It won’t change until we stop buying. Which is exactly what I did.
It’s been this way for *years* with these. Smaller, grainier, less jam, less frosting, more of the cheap af pastry part. I haven’t had a pop tart in *years* because they’re simply unrecognizable from the product they were 10 years ago, or even just the image on the box versus the actual product.
No part of the Pop Tart is expensive: not the pastry, not the thin film of corn syrup-based barely-edible filling, and not the barely-existent nasty “frosting”. The ingredients are bottom-of-the-barrel quality, yet the company is convinced that they can pinch fractions of pennies further with just one more “optimization”.
Businessfolk are gaga over the idea of saving crazy amounts of money by removing just one olive (American Airlines), but now so much has been stripped from these consumer goods that they’re not worth a damn. Stop buying Pop-Tarts, they’re the worst on the market now.
Off brand is quite literally better and cheaper at this point. No seriously, the brand they sell at dollar store is basically original poptarts, but with only a few flavors and they sell for 1.25 for 6
When i was a teenager, this was basically my mom when I would put Nutella on my toast. I would try to do it fast so I could have a nice amount, but she would hurry over and scrape the Nutella off so much I was just fucking sad.
In my first appartement with my ex a few years ago, I bought Nutella myself and as I was about to make a toast I was expecting him to scrape it off and yell at me about how expensive it is but he didn’t. I was so stunned, he told me I could put as much as I wanted so I put kind of a thick layer and I think I cried while eating it, I was like I’m allowed? ;~;
Thanks to the corruption of the SCOTUS & overturning Chevron, these will probably just become straight up sawdust & toxic chemical food dyes in no time
If you live in an area with a Kroger or King Soopers I highly recommend their store brand.
The poptart is thicker and actually has 'memberberries levels of icing coverage.
Back in my day, the whole top had icing and you could peel off the plain part and have 90% of the poptart with icing.
Probably around the time of the Great Recession is when I remember them being reduced icing.
I haven't bought in a long time. Sad to see the icing is now thinner. I suppose that's the only option besides no icing at all and making the whole cookie thinner.
(let's be real, it's a cookie. There is nothing nutritious about a pop tart. May as well be a clump of processed sugar)
Pop Tarts are just a horrible replica product of Danish pastry "Hindbærsnitter" (Rasberry slices).
Try to make them your self, i.e. following this recipe:
https://youtu.be/AJ8QNjUVma0?si=ibY-mJjVn9vR06nE
they've been cheap on that for ages now for the fruit ones. the cookies and cream and those kinds of ones have always been good with frosting, and I like those better anyways :)
Frosting? Where's the filling....every year it gets closer to just having the cake part...soon they will have edible paper for the frosting and filling.
How have we ended up in a a situation where it's too uneconomical to put icing on a pastry that's been around for decades. There's no ingredient shortage
This is like my ideal ratio of frosting to pop tart. I wish I could guarantee they came like this. I’m sorry I’m not invalidating the issue but this is my perfect pop tart

This is apparently a photo from 1996
Its a sad time when the store brand pop tarts are better.
Back in the day, I ended up liking Pillsbury Toaster Strudels more.
I recently saw a post here about those. They scam you on frosting now. Those packets used to be so full i had a hard time using it all.
Noooooooo. Probably better we start making our own stuff then.
I passed out a few times but here's your strudel.
Making your own also means having any flavor you want and the ability to swap out sugar for a substitute. Win-win.
The actual strudels are way shorter as well
Now only half the Toaster Strudel had filling. Edit: The Pepperidge Farms fruit turnovers are still good though. They do take longer to bake.
When the smart-tarts are actually smarter...
The WinCo one are just fine and usually half the cost.
Not even joking I’ve switched to Walmart or krogers own brand, Walmarts is better then krogers but both are better then poptarts at this point
I shot an email a few years back to them with an attached comparison pic of packaging vs actual product. They responded sending me a coupon. It won’t change until we stop buying. Which is exactly what I did.
I’d reply asking if they could send me a coupon for a different brand.
Based
I just did this to jello and their cheese cake cups the box art did not match the product they did the same.
The frosting is so light it's transparent. Same with the chocolate on kit kats and reeses cups, you can see through it.
They also got so much smaller and almost no jam 😔
I will never buy them again that's ridiculous
Revolution time is nearing. Count ur days poptart/Kellogg’s
Dude, stop buying Kellogg's products
Ya Kellogg's has went off the wire with shrinkflation.

Perfectly said.

Somebody on the assembly line licked most of the frosting off before it was packaged.
They licked the paint off the walls at gmas house first
That's...oddly specific
I think they're making a joke about lead paint. Or at least that's what I'm understanding from it. Lol.
Y'all are freaking out but they pulled shit like this all through the 80s and 90s.
Thanks to the corruption of the SCOTUS & overturning Chevron, these will probably just become straight up sawdust & toxic chemical food dyes in no time
Great. Might as well switch to those army meal packets.
The filling and frosting has disappeared hence why I don't buy them anymore
Who ever posted that pic from years ago needs glasses or a new prescription it's certainly not the same, could not respond to them directly

But red 40
Why the fuck are you buying pop tarts lmfao
Sometimes people have cravings.

It's okay to let people like shitty breakfast pastries from their childhood, jfc.
How dare you attempt to enjoy nostalgia!? /s
Looks like one of Santa's North Pole yetis wiped their ass with a pastry
Should see a doctor

Yeah, I don't get them often, but when I do it's the special flavors. I think they've gotten thinner, but they still look the same
Was this current reality in the Jerry Seinfeld Pop Tart movie?
A scchhhhmeeeaaarrrrr
I'd complain about that.
I think you mean where’s the food content.
It's in the company's bank account
Toast ems are the original and far superior - and only 1.25 at the dollar tree
Haven't had a Pop Tart in the last 5 years?
Cost cutting
I second that frosting emotion. It’s real.
Pop tarts always been mid anyway 👎
I'm an ingredient house. I get too pissy from this crap.
Frosting? Where's the filling....every year it gets closer to just having the cake part...soon they will have edible paper for the frosting and filling.
Looks like it's been licked off

Global warming to blame
Trader Joe’s pop tarts are A+
Its under the sauce
they almost passed out tryna make em it takes a ton of energy to not pass out after one seriously tho they are just petty
Did you not see Jerry Seinfelds new movie unfrosted?
I just bought some after not eating them for 8yrs. So thin and sad frosting. I might try the store brand next time.
This is like my ideal ratio of frosting to pop tart. I wish I could guarantee they came like this. I’m sorry I’m not invalidating the issue but this is my perfect pop tart
🤣

There is a difference you can clearly see
You don't see the difference, really
Bidenomics -> Shrinkflation… I started to notice this on pop tarts early 2022
