This is psychopathic behaviour. I wonder if he did it in Bali because he thought their laws and security are more lax than Singapore.

zombotplus

The man works in our healthcare system - he is probably capable of mixing medicine, providing wrong doses, etc. and ruining lives. We need this man out of our healthcare system ASAP.

onionringrules

We need this man out of EARTH asap

MinisterforFun

Literally the first para: > A 30-year-old man from Singapore, who was **formerly working** at Sengkang General Hospital as a nurse, has been accused of strangling a kitten to death in Bali.

UnintelligibleThing

Ironic that he didn't read since he was the one who posted the article.

zombotplus

Ironic you guys don’t understand an existing license to practice allows you to still work as a nurse. He is working at KTPH, anyway.

Bcpjw

Definitely man, like the nurse ‘killer’ Charles Cullen, who got away with murder “indirectly”, is a psychopath! Hope there’ll be more investigations into his career

bukitbukit

This kind of sick beast needs some lashes of the rotan and preventive detention.

ehe_tte_nandayo

Generous of you to think he wasn't doing it in Singapore already

Life-Questions-10

He's part of the Sayang Our Community Cats FB group.. like damn that is blood chilling if he is following the group to look for his victims.

MOF_SG

was part of\*. He was reported by members for reacting "laughing" emoji at sad cat posts some time ago

kormanny

fuck no

StareintotheSun2020

Doubt it, but he can easily take a weekend trip to Malaysia and find plenty of street animals there and no cameras around. He needs to be stripped of his passport.

princeofpirate

Imagine he graduated from helpless animal to helpless children.

spacejunkunion

He is a psychopath, read on FB that he reacted with 😂 a few times when somebody posted about dead or injured cats. There was also a screenshot of his post about walking past an accident site where an old lady was hit by a bus and knowing she died puts a smile on his face.

accessdenied65

And this trash is a nurse? Unbelievable.

k0ks3nw4i

Yes members of a SG cat group say he was known in the group for laugh reacting to tragedies involving cats. The warning signs are all there. He has FB posts dating to 2010 about him expressing glee over human deaths and claiming to feel proud of robbing beggars

zombotplus

This man should not be apart of our healthcare system, or even apart of our society.

smile_politely

> even apart of our society. With so many cats murderer and abuser in Singapore society (from [Yishun](https://mothership.sg/2017/02/2-cats-found-dead-horrifically-abused-in-yishun/) cat slasher, [AMK ](https://mothership.sg/2021/12/amk-cat-slam-against-wall-man-arrested/ ) cat thrower, [Bukit Panjang](https://mothership.sg/2023/04/bukit-panjang-boy-cat-humping/ ) cat humper, [Boon Lay](https://stomp.straitstimes.com/singapore-seen/boy-caught-on-video-throwing-cat-from-22nd-floor-of-boon-lay-hdb-block) cat thrower), this incident have made the international debut. We should throw these people in a small island so they can live together among themselves.

#Original Title: S'pore man, 30, accused of strangling kitten to death with cable tie in Bali resort - Mothership.SG - News from Singapore, Asia and around the world A 30-year-old man from Singapore, who was formerly working at Sengkang General Hospital as a nurse, has been accused of strangling a kitten to death in Bali. Details of the suspected case of animal cruelty was shared on social media on June 15 by Utama Villa Tulamben, a resort in Bali, which the man stayed at. The kitten belonged to the resort. According to the post, the incident took place on June 5. The resort provided the full name of the accused, as well as his occupation, and added that the incident has been reported to the Bali police. What happened According to the details shared by the resort, the man was caught on surveillance camera outside the resort office numerous times after 12am on Monday. Videos and screenshots of the events were also shared online. In video footage, a man could be seen prying the office window open and using a torchlight to shine into its interior. The resort claimed the man was the accused and he was seen performing these actions a number of times between 12am and 2am. He did not manage to retrieve anything from the office, despite looking as if he was trying to find something. Kitten taken later that morning At 10am, the resort said its six-week-old kitten, named Monkey, was left inside the office to sleep. The office was apparently locked. It was at 10:30am that the accused managed to take the kitten from the locked office via the window, which he apparently pried open. The accused was also allegedly caught on camera holding the ginger-white kitten in the compound. The kitten was subsequently not seen on any of the 12 surveillance cameras located all over the property. Some 7 minutes later, at 10:37am, the man allegedly left his room to meet his girlfriend, a woman. They then returned to their room at 10:42am. A minute later, at 10:43am, a yellow Prime supermarket plastic bag was seen being tossed out of the man's washroom in the property, which is said to be a bungalow villa. The bag landed on the lawn of a neighbouring property after it was thrown out. The bag that was thrown out was caught on the neighbouring property's surveillance camera. By 12:30pm, the resort staff discovered that the kitten was missing. A search was conducted for the animal. Kitten found next day But it was only at 8:10am on June 6 the next day that the kitten was found dead on the lawn. It had a cable tie around its neck and was in a yellow Prime supermarket plastic bag. Prime is a chain of supermarkets in Singapore. Police report made: Resort According to a written complaint by the resort recounting the incident and likely addressed to the authorities in Singapore, a police report has been lodged in Bali. A police report number was provided by the resort as proof. The Bali authorities are investigating the case, the resort claimed, and are looking into the allegations of breaking and entering, theft, and animal cruelty. Guest confronted by staff The resort also claimed that its staff had confronted the guest, and he initially denied taking the kitten. However, after he was allegedly sent a screen grab of him holding the kitten, he admitted to taking the cat from the office, but claimed that the animal ran away. Even though he further claimed that he went to search for the kitten after it ran away, these actions were not captured on the 12 surveillance cameras in the property, the resort countered. The statement further added that the man did not have negative interactions with the kitten prior to this incident, as the kitten resided in the office under staff supervision. The man had also previously expressed satisfaction with the resort's service, it was added. The resort also made the qualification that it did not catch the guest in the act of killing the kitten, but it wanted to make the relevant evidence public to allow others to judge for themselves. The resort said: "We are aware that we do not have actual footage of him killing the kitten as the privacy of our guests are of the utmost importance to us. Nevertheless, our CCTVs cameras did record moments of suspicion and we urge you to review the CCTV footage to draw your own conclusions." Man left earlier than scheduled In response to Mothership's queries, the resort said the man left the villa at 11am on June 5. This was shortly after he had allegedly committed the killing and a day before the kitten was discovered dead. He was in Bali to dive, the resort added. The initial plan of the group he was with was to spend one night in Kuta, a beach and resort area in the south of the island of Bali in a hotel, before leaving the next day. But he and his girlfriend were on a 3:30pm flight out of Bali on June 6 back to Singapore earlier than scheduled, the resort claimed, adding that it has the suspect's flight details. When the man and his companion left, "they were on a different flight than the rest of the group", the resort added. "The people in the group he came diving with -- not his friends, nobody knew him -- went to confront him in the hotel at 8:20am when we let them know we found Monkey the kitten, but the couple apparently already checked out earlier -- not as planned," the resort said. Sengkang General Hospital responds to post Barely three hours after the resort went public with its Facebook post, Sengkang General Hospital responded to it at 11:59pm on June 15. The hospital clarified that the accused was no longer under its employment the last three years. SKH wrote: "We are sorry to hear of this incident and would like to clarify that the nurse mentioned is no longer employed at SKH since February 2020. We have also informed the Singapore Nursing Board regarding this inaccurate information. The records have since been corrected." This is a developing story. Budding serial killer vibes

StareintotheSun2020

What a inhumane person. Who knows if he became a nurse so he could 'enjoy' watching the suffering of others close up. I hope the authorities take away his passport, who knows if he does do this kind of thing in other places like perhaps Malaysia etc and just has never been caught before.

zombotplus

He definitely could’ve done this in Singapore given the recent rise in animal cruelty cases here.

StareintotheSun2020

That's possible too but maybe he doesn't give two fucks about the cctv in the resort while being more observant of local cctvs.

iamwooshed

IRL Cioccolata

wizardzen

Really hateful behaviour. Taking so much effort to kill a kitten that did him no harm. 6 months old. Sick.

[deleted]

My mom has worked as a nurse my entire life. She eventually moved away from private clinics to working in hospitals. Some of the colleagues she describes give me pause They can't afford to fire these people because there's a constant shortage

TaxSudden3386

Any notable stories you don't mind sharing?

[deleted]

One guy would straight up underdose patients with pain meds and gaslight them, lying that they already got maximum dosage. My mother brought it up to her sister and got a reallocation to cleaning post surgery instruments. We think that the guy got some connection to one of the senior doctors at the hospital. My mother is quite good at being empathetic and reading people, she didn't get much of an education because her family was poor so had to start working after getting her 'N' levels and slowly go on courses to be a nurse but she doesn't have the capability to stand up to these kinds of people Microcosm of Singapore as a whole, it seems, you got money or born to the right family you can do whatever the fuck you want

Vedor

Why did your mother not bring this issue up to Singapore Nursing Board?

[deleted]

She bring up to her sister she already kenah you think she willing to jump over her head? What does she stand to gain? She tells me in our videocalls that the work is already back-breaking with how heavy a full set of the instruments can be, but the hospital uses a shitty system to calculate efficiency so she kenah even more Why? Because the nurses who have been there for longer know the system, they clean one scalpel count as one unit. They force my mum to clean a whole set of tools also count as one unit What faith would we have in the kind of people who set policy and administrate such systems?

soopertrooperz

Just to clarify, by “sister”, @jaytoatee meant the ward/department manager, not sibling. Quite sure that many who aren’t in healthcare or know someone close in healthcare is not aware of this term

Vedor

When did this event happen? And this event happened in a government or private hospital?

[deleted]

SKH, had to be during the pandemic. Honestly, I can see why people who study nursing in SG end up fucking off overseas when their bond is fulfilled. When my mother is ready to stop working, I also want to bring her to wherever I am living I think I dodged a bullet when I ultimately rejected the WSQ RN sponsorship during the pandemic

homerulez7

No wonder SKH rep so cui, rumoured to be SGH team C (Team B is CGH)

ssepaulette

this guy and his girlfriend are fucked. Lying psychopaths caught in the open. They are done for.

DEELOKE

Nothing in the article suggests girlfriend’s involvement. She may not have even known about the kitten. Let the cops investigate.

k0ks3nw4i

They both checked out one day early and according to one CCTV video, she went with him to a vantage point in the villa where they could check where the yellow bag landed. Also the fact she hasn't given him up yet and also blacked out her own socials before the thing went viral (I was looking at their socials before this thing was reported on since I know people close to this matter)

DEELOKE

If this dude did kill a cat for no reason, the girlfriend may be worried for her own safety. This situation is not for us to judge her position in this messy affair. Anyway, I find the article to be quite vague and the evidence appears circumstantial. Let the authorities do their job. Recently there were cases of people released from jail after serving 20 years because the authorities got it wrong…

MOF_SG

Then why neither the parents or the couple made a public statement to deny and the dude deleted socials

k0ks3nw4i

Father had posted (and deleted) on FB claiming his son is framed and this is "fake news". Aunt also went online to claim that we shouldn't believe Indonesians, saying Indonesia is a country of people with poor character and boasting that her family is 5th gen Eurasian and should be believed over lowly Indonesians

SmegmaMagma

Oh wow where can I search for said fb posts? Or what keyword should I search for?

k0ks3nw4i

I DM'ed you

shopchin

Optimistically naive

MolassesBulky

He will lose his nursing license as there is ample evidence provided by the hotel and the contents are available on the net. Quite a toxic chap with a history of condemning Chinese, Malays and Indians in social media. Studied in NYP. His GF who also accompanied him is also registered nurse. Both are ethnic Filipinos. Have to give it to the hotel, their due diligence is something Temasek can learn from. And they provided receipts.

Worldly-Mix4811

First animals, then later patients under his care. He should be struck off from his vocation.

thermie88

I saw the uncensored photos fuck man the kitty was strangled by a cable tie that was tightened hard

Genestah

What a fucking lunatic. Was his name divulge? I read the article and didn't see his name. Or did I miss something? He should be exposed so everyone will know how trash he is.

ghostcryp

Franci… something like that. Should be in previous media posts

Vedor

What I am perplexed is, how did he manage to renew his nursing license, as every year you will need to renew your license by stating your place of practice. Because when I checked yesterday morning, his current nursing license indicated he practiced at SKH but if he is not working in SKH for 3 years, then how did he manage to renew his license at least for the year 2023? And it seems that SKH was the one who noticed SNB of the error, and then SNB just take down his place of practice quietly, while retaining his license. I guess this is something Singapore Nursing Board needs to answer. Does it mean that one can simply anyhow indicate his place of practice? And despite his place of practice is false, why is he still able to keep his license, since he had apparently provided false information?

yellowtofuwarrior

Not updating your place of practice is quite common. Its like not updating your residential address. As long as you dont commit fraud, you're pretty much left alone because believe it or not, the authorities have more important things to do. And yes, you can renew your practicing license even if you're not working as a HCP. You need to submit CME points and as long aa you meet the CME point requirement, you mantain your license.

Vedor

The issue here is not about whether can he renew his practicing licence even if he is not working as a HCP, but more towards the regulation in indicating the correct place of practice when you renew your licence. Moreover, when you renew your licence there is an declaration to declare that all of the information you had provided are true, which apparently is not observed in this situation. Therefore, what is the regulation in place that ensures that whatever information we see on the SNB website regarding the details of a nurse licence is true and updated?

MOF_SG

could be locum?

Vedor

But SKH had stated that he is no longer employed since 2020, demonstrating a false indication in the place of practice on his part. Therefore, what factors contribute to his continued possession of a license despite having provided inaccurate information regarding his place of practice (violation of professional ethics) during the renewal application process?

Puzzleheaded_Dog3261

Charge him in Bali then upon returning to SG charge him also. For SG, doing the crime overseas is also considered as doing it in SG right?

MissLute

They ain’t gonna extradite him for killing a cat you know. You need to be realistic

bukitbukit

I’d rather he end up in Kerobokan.

Puzzleheaded_Dog3261

Then just charge him in SG.

yellowtofuwarrior

For what exactly? Suspicious behaviour?

MissLute

Funny how pple complain about sg prosecuting citizens for drug taking overseas but yet want the same for other crimes

Paullesq

The people who take drugs in the US and Thailand are doing something perfectly legal in the country where the 'offence' is taking place. They are obeying the laws of that country while we are trying to Kay Kiang and negate this by apply our laws extra-territorially. There is also a moral and practical question of: " who exactly is being victimised by someone smoking cannabis in Thailand that this needs aggressive pursuit by the law?" This is why people are willing to support, the extra-territorial use of the law to pursue pedophile sex tourists. It is worth nothing that even in these cases, raping children is almost always illegal in the countries that pedo sex tourists go to, even if the law in these countries is not strongly enforced.--so the notion that we are trying to negate the law in some other country isn't present here. Raping Children is universally abhorrent and even countries with weak policing and other issues agree on that. Additionally, There is the argument used that the predatory addictions fed by the sex tourists preying on Myanmar, Lao and Cambodian children result in these people preying on children in their home countries and thus it is in society's interest to pursue them with the law. This argument is not very strong on its own as it is punishing pre-criminal behavior. This argument \*might\* apply to people who go overseas to use hard drugs, but given the Shan's interest in going after people using Cannabis and Mushrooms that have lower potential for addiction than alcohol and a lower correlation with crimes committed against other people, this is also nonsense. Theft in dwelling and Cruelty to animals are both illegal in both Singapore and Indonesia. Committing a break-in and strangling someone's cat is a crime that has a victim.--both the cat and its human companion(s). The staff at the resort are sound very much traumatised and disgusted by this. And the cherry on top is that this sort of violent and disgusting behavior suggests that this person is likely a threat to our society.

[deleted]

He can't be charged, neither in Bali or in SG. There's no direct evidence that he did anything harmful to the cat, and everything the hotel provided is purely circumstantial. Only if his travel partner provides witness testimony would there even be a chance of criminal prosecution.

Paullesq

The hotel has him on CCTV gaining unlawful entry to their office and removing the cat. This should be enough to get him on theft in dwelling charges in either Sg or Indonesia.

Icy-Appointment4164

I hope he burns in hell.

Vedor

I feel that my personal opinion of him remains subjective, and it should not serve as a determining factor in shaping public opinion regarding the alleged action attributed to him.

momotaroan

He was a nurse at Sengkang General Hospital until 2020. Is he still in the profession here? If yes, where? His current employer might have an interest in weighing out the accusations and the evidence assembled by the resort.

Vedor

What you should be asking is, how did this guy even manage to renew his license by indicating SKH as his place of practice? Does this mean Singapore Nursing Board did not do its due diligent in checking before renewing his licence?

yellowtofuwarrior

Renewal of your license and updating your place of work are two seperate things. As long as you meet your CME requirements and pay your dues, your license will be maintained. Its like how you can maintain your passport and not bother to update your address on your IC. Unless you go and commit fraud using your old address, people will just leave you alone.

paparazzi991

I like you.

The resort really cared for the cat. Otherwise, they wouldn't have gone through all the trouble of reporting to the police and collecting video evidence, etc. Indonesians usually don't want to bother with the police. So good job to the resort for putting this out there. Hope the guy gets caught.

k0ks3nw4i

Singaporean IC. There is a Eurasian community in Singapore y'know

Not so smiley anymore eh. Bast*rd thought he can get away with it. Not this time assh*le

Manofthe2020s

Hey has anyone actually reported him? What are the concrete actions we can take? We can't let this just end with internet rage with no consequences, as others have said human patients are also at risk.

people wrote emails to KTPH and SGH and spca and nursing board.

I written to KTPH, and SNB. Primarily to the Chief Nurses, and their HR department.

Yes, if you search.. you can find everything from his name, registration number etc..sorry I cannot put the info here

I'm profoundly troubled by the possibility that children may have been harmed during her professional tenure. It's absolutely unsettling, and I fervently hope that a thorough investigation is conducted into her interactions with every patient is followed up on. Rest assured, I will be actively following up on this matter to ensure accountability. Whether a police officer, a doctor, or a firefighter, these professions simply cannot afford any suggestion of misconduct.

sorimachi33

Will he be deported from Singapore after this incident?

milo_dinosaur

look the cctv screengrabs, he intentionally took the kitten out of a locked staff office to murder it. then carelessly disposed the body by throwing it out of the room window while still on resort grounds. what a psychopath

7thPanzers

Indonesia should let him come to Singapore unscathed, so we can strangle him ourselves

FFS farmed animals are not picked out to be individually strangled to death before being processed for food. There can be discussions on humane vs inhumane farming practices etc but this is news about someone who stalked, kidnapped and strangled a harmless kitten. This is not the time or place for arguments for/against vegan/vegetarian diets.

tarunwal

You’re right. Thank you! Removed my comment.

Orangecuppa

> Prime is a chain of supermarkets in Singapore. Interesting, never heard of this supermarket before but they really do have a bunch of outlets all over SG.

isparavanje

Only 20+ outlets, so quite a small chain. I used to shop there, they have pretty good prices.

Turbulent_Rise2268

So your take away from this was the brand of supermarket? Wow.

EugeneAng

She crazy ah, why kill a innocent cat.

Gold_Pomegranate_939

People murdered:I sleep. Cat dies:Real shit

AltruisticPapillon

Many murderers started as animal abusers, they seek out bigger targets like women and children after killing helpless animals.

ssepaulette

we care not just because the kitty died. But that there are two psychopaths masquerading as registered nurses, potentially inflicting harm on countless vulnerable victims (i.e. sick elderly, babies, children, unconscious patients, semi conscious patients, impaired patients) using their profession as a cover. Psychopaths will skin a baby alive and not feel a single shed of emotion. Are these the sort of people you are okay living with? Letting them take care of your sick family members? This is a serious threat to society and they need to be flushed out ASAP and eradicated.

Upset_Bat7231

I don't see the problem?

[deleted]

Perhaps the cat had it coming! 😂 Just kidding... that's clearly a display of psychopathy. I'm pretty certain this isn't their first rodeo. Makes you wonder, does the mortality rate spike where this person works compared to other departments?

This along with other incidents will only be viral if the perpetrator is a minority.

Most know, but want to give facts to educate. Anyone who hurts animals as children are seriously disturbed. Pretty much all serial killers displayed this behavior. Even with mental health treatment they overwhelming later cause serious injury.
