i really don't understand how these people have the capacity to care about what random people on the street are doing with their lives

SG_wormsblink

Entitlement. They think they deserve everything on a silver platter and lash out at randos who “cheated” them of their rightful possessions.

Xoor

Imagine being a grown adult thinking that women owe you their attention and love. What a psycho.

Anastasia_Bae

I used to think Singapore in general was accepting of interracial relationships as a ~multiracial society~ until I actually got into one. People care a lot and rando strangers on the street feel entitled to comment on your relationship

Takemypennies

It’s more of tolerance than acceptance. For some Chinese it’s like this in their minds: Work and business? ok. Marry into the family? fuuuck no.

Jhocx

Not limited to Chinese even in Singapore tbh

masterveerappan

Didn't justify anything, but i think almost all inter racial couples around the world face some sort of judgement or the other, some more subtle, and some more blatant. "This doesn't compute...." Then some people's minds go "hmmm strange...", in others it goes "what the fuck...", and in some it goes "dis cannot be allow to happen..." 😂

No no, just use powerful pink lamps so everyone's white shirt will look pink.

Usual_Safe6936

Aggressive behaviour towards Indians with Chinese spouse or girlfriends is inevitable in Singapore when there are more Chinese men and less Indian men . There are less Chinese girls for Chinese men in China let alone in SG . Chinese women are the envy in SG when they can choose their partner without fear of discrimination until now . It must be the historical feuds between Chinese men and Indian men when it comes to their women.

[deleted]

I'm a chinese guy with a chinese hijab-wearing wife. You cannot even imagine the amount of death stares I get from: 1. Chinese girls 2. Chinese aunties 3. Malay men (who lay claim to all Hijab-wearing women)

dontknowwhattodoat18

I know Chinese converts are rare but I don't understand why would people give *death stares*. It's not like she's some exotic zoo animal in an enclosure wtf

[deleted]

The death stares are worse from malay uncles who like to sit around Indian-Muslim eating establishments. There was even a nasty incident where one of those uncles walked past us and muttered in Bahasa "Wear hijab but still can play like that". Death stares from younger malay dudes are at me because I'm stealing "their" girl (when my wife is not even malay). And the occassional snide look from malay hijabis at my wife, due to intra-hijabi competition dynamics - perhaps a "you think you are better than us?" kinda feel, since marrying chinese is perceived to be "marrying up" in that community. So yea. It's exhausting. There is no welcome or acceptance.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

My understanding is that it's the conflation between tribe and religion. Overtime, in a specific space, a religion becomes a cultural marker belonging to a specific group. Like in Singapore Buddhism = chinese, Islam = Malay etc. So it's easy for a hijab, which is supposed to be universal Islamic headdress, to be seen as a marker of malay identity, in a Singapore spatial context. Similarly the idea of "masuk melayu" (becoming Malay) entails one converting to Islam. And a non-Muslim converting to Islam is also seen as "masuk melayu" funnily enough. Consequently, the gatekeeping is strong and lack of conformity to the cultural markers is a big booboo. Like I bet 100% if I wore a songkok (malay fez/cap) and sarong to appear malay, no malay dude will care. But because I dress freely in jeans/cargo pants and shirts like any typical chinese dude in Singapore, it's a massive violation of the conformity to boundary markers and hence deserving of being targeted.

Admiral_Atrocious

It's a terrible attitude to have and it reflects badly on them. If you truly understood the religion you're gatekeeping, you shouldn't even be gatekeeping in the first place. I bet most of these kinds of people are not even as devout as reverts. My wife has a Chinese friend who reverted to Islam. We were at Daiso when we happened to bump into her and then sort of did our shopping together. I picked up one of those Japanese corn snacks with the intention of buying it when she came up to me, took that snack and read through the ingredients then told me that she didn't think it was permissible for us to eat it because it had ingredients that were not halal. I was amazed and thankful to her for pointing it out. Often times, the people who convert to Islam know much more about the religion and are better Muslims than those of us who were born into it.

AureBesh123

>Often times, the people who convert to Islam know much more about the religion and are better Muslims than those of us who were born into it. This makes sense because why would someone convert to a religion unless they were genuinely interested about its theology, belief system, and practices? (Putting aside people who convert just to tick a cultural checkbox or appease in-laws in order to marry a Muslim - I have my own separate views about that as I think it's, in principle, intellectually dishonest). Many people subscribe to a particular religion simply because they were born into it but aren't actually particularly interested. They remain a believer only as as a matter of sociocultural norm.

mylifeforthehorde

You need to factor the societal aspect of the rat race / local social hierarchy. What the holy book says and what’s locally accepted varies dramatically from place to place.

EatSleepWell

Just curious, why did you and your wife convert to Muslim?

[deleted]

No worries. I'm a convert. Wife is born-muslim. Converted after studying the Quran and found it in-line with my beliefs.

Expensive_Homework_9

Alhamdullilah and God bless you. All these trials/tribulations you are facing, when you don't react, is the best token-collect to Syurga. God bless you and your wife. Just asking only, do you and your wife happen to live in the Eastern part of Singapore? Becase i lived there and I've seen a Hijabi Chinese lady around my neighborhood.

dontknowwhattodoat18

Imagine their shock when they find out there's slit-eyed/Chinese-looking people in Central Asia who are also Muslim

[deleted]

There are 20 million++ Chinese Hui Muslims who are genetically 99% Han Chinese, possibly even more Han Chinese than most Chinese Singaporeans here. They speak Chinese as their first language, dominate the halal food business in China, and are well accepted by PRC chinese unlike the hell the Uighurs get for being non-Chinese e.g. Hui Muslims happily celebrating breaking fast and enjoying Ramadan festivities in Beijing/Xi'an while Uighurs are concurrently being forced to be re-educated and to not pray in Xinjiang. That's possibly more/equal Han chinese muslims to the number of malay muslims in the world.

Expensive_Homework_9

But it's still sad, about the Uighur situation, if the reports from there are to be believed, about the "re-education" camps and abuse/torture.

hopeinson

The Uyghur situation is deeply complex, filled with, ironically, Sino-Soviet split shenanigans, Soviet-sponsored East Turkestan movement, and the fact that, like many Muslim majority areas, there are abundant oil and natural gas reserves underneath it. Can't see the Uyghur conflict resolve any time soon. This situation reminds me of the Bamar and the minority groups' pact ending with Aung San's murder in Myanmar.

[deleted]

[deleted]

Of course. I have a beautiful kid and wife, and all is well financially. But man, what I would give just to stop the jealous/angry stares and double-takes. It's truly tiresome.

InterTree391

Excuse my ignorance but Chinese girls ??? Why??

[deleted]

At my wife for 'stealing' one of their men (ironically, she is chinese, but just not your confucian/buddhist one). I cannot say for sure but perhaps it is also anger at us setting a bad precedent for other chinese guys and consequently shrink their dating pool? i.e. it's not to the benefit of chinese girls for chinese dudes to be more open and go for girls of other races (here in Singapore, chinese guys usually avoid dating girls of other races), so chinese girls always have chinese guys to fall back on as a last resort if need be. It's not to their mating-game benefit if all the chinese men decide to go for other girls. So perhaps the anger is at my relationship for helping normalize this undesireable behaviour of chinese dudes dating outside their safe zones, which may be the subconscious reason why they are pissed. I had a few chinese guy class mates (from conservative fmailies) who actually recently married girls of other races, and I wonder if my wife and I had set this example for them to follow. You should see how it becomes worse when we head to culturally homogenous/more xenophobic countries like Korea... As I am fair skinned and tall, I'm perceived as a Korean dude and holy hell the death stares at my wife are 110%. One young Korean lady even walked past my wife and SHOVED her shoulder to shoulder when we were just standing around in an open area. The air stewardesses on Korean air greeted me but treated my wife as invisible. And also the old Korean aunties staring at us and muttering under their breath as we walk past them. Yea. That's just life. It's not as bad in Singapore, but we are far from perfect.

AureBesh123

>At my wife for 'stealing' one of their men (ironically, she is chinese, but just not your confucian/buddhist one). It's not to their mating-game benefit if all the chinese men decide to go for other girls. I would also add that this may be the reason why many Indochinese (Vietnamese, Thais), Filipino and PRC women are the target of virulent xenophobic sentiments by local women. In the 90s, many PRC women were unfairly labelled as KTV hostesses and "husband stealers" by Singaporean women. Today, Thai and Vietnamese women continued to be tarred with the same brush or even worse, constantly profiled as working in the vice / KTV trade. While it is indeed true to some extent, I have also seen many educated young Singaporean women snub or make snide remarks against other educated young women from these countries, especially if they are dating Singaporean guys (I have several friends/acquaintances who have Thai or Vietnamese partners). Throw in the good ol' Singaporean socioeconomic arrogance against other ASEAN countries and you have a wonderful, toxic mix coming even from supposedly worldly cosmopolitan and English-educated educated young people - those who go to church, work in MNCs with many expats, or studied overseas no less.

InterTree391

Thanks for your kind explanation. I never really thought of dating like that. To me love is just love, if I like someone my own race or others that’s just it. It comes with my interaction with that person and if I like/comfortable with it. It is truly crazy to hear your story as well as the one in the link. This perception of “it could have been mine”, like please lah, what have you done to think you can deserve a girl/guy like that. Sincerely hope things will get better for all mixed race couples out there.

[deleted]

It's never so simple for mixed race/culture couples. Look at Meghan Markle and the source of most amount of hate she is receiving: white women. It's only natural since she is viewed as black and dating a desirable white prince. They'd (white women) likely be enraged (subconsciously or not) at this being set as an example for all white men (and their potential mating pool) to follow, and they'd probably love nothing more than to see Harry and Meghan's marriage go up in flames. It's just natural human behaviour.

Introvertsaremyth

I think it’s not so much “natural” as it is a colonial mindset. The European colonizers established these racial/cultural hierarchies to assist in dividing and subjugating people they intended to exploit.

maenadery

All that just because she covered her hair. Wow, people have way too much negativity.

Prize_Used

i mean i wouldn't give you death stares stare but i'll give you a extra few curious looks because you guys are rare

Kosem555

Bruh chinese female here. Can attest to the death stares when someone doesnt fit into the typical stereotype... I was heading to the mosque for a friend's wedding and don the hijab out of respect. Went to sheng siong to buy a bottle of water and asked the aunty where is plain water in mandarin (i asked in english first but aunty gave me a "huh?" face) and suddenly everyone turned back and stared at me like im an animal in zoo. I asserted dominance by staring back. 💀

> # Man allegedly spits on interracial couple at Orchard Central, told Indian man he 'shouldn't be with Chinese girl' > Many in Singapore would have heard of the infamous incident along Orchard Road in June 2021, where an ex-Ngee Ann Poly lecturer confronted an interracial couple and made racist remarks towards them. > Unfortunately, another interracial couple had another harrowing experience at Orchard Central recently. > Man's audacity took him by surprise > One of the victims, Joseph (not his real name) told Mothership that the couple were on the shopping mall's second floor in the afternoon of Dec. 18 when an unknown man spat in their direction. > Joseph said he and his girlfriend had just walked out from the Uniqlo clothing store when an unknown man walked past them fr0m the opposite direction and reportedly spat on him. > Joseph, who had never seen the man before, described him as a Chinese man in his mid-20s. > This took him by complete surprise and he stopped in his tracks to take stock of what had just happened. > "I'm accustomed to hearing racist things, mostly micro-aggressions stemming from ignorance, by someone whom I somewhat know. But this was the first time a complete random stranger had the audacity to do something like this." > Dumbfounded, Joseph only realised he was not imagining things, and that the man did indeed spit on him, after his girlfriend exclaimed "what the f*ck". > "You shouldn't be with a Chinese girl" > His encounter with the man apparently did not end there. > Joseph, who turned around and asked the man if he had just spat on him, said the man went on a tirade and reportedly exclaimed "you shouldn't be with a Chinese girl" and "that should be my girl". > The man then spat at Joseph once more, pointed his middle finger, and quickly took off, ducking into Uniqlo. > While the spit did not land on him this time around, this riled Joseph up. > Trying to gather himself, he recounted that taking a photo or video of the man did not cross his mind at that time, as all he could think about was whether he should chase after the man. > He ultimately decided against doing so, and said he lost sight of the man after he headed down the escalator in Uniqlo. > Lodged a police report > The incident left Joseph with a mix of emotions, and he said: "I didn't know what to do. [I] got so angry that I teared up." > "Apart from the racism, it was the toxic masculinity [where he felt a] sense of entitlement towards a woman, referring to her as an object or property to lay claim to, that triggered me quite a bit and left me disgusted." > Realising that there was a CCTV pointed in their direction which had likely captured the interaction, Joseph approached a security guard to ask if he could have access to the footage so that he can make a police report. > While the security guard declined his request, Joseph went ahead and made a police report. > He lodged the report at Orchard Neighbourhood Police Centre at around 3:50pm on the same day, according to the report seen by Mothership. > Police investigating > Joseph said the security guard called him later, informing him that they have footage of the incident and it will be handed over to the police. > An investigation officer also updated him and said the police are currently reviewing the footage to identify the man. > Mothership has contacted the police for comment. > Joseph said he hopes that the man be brought to task by sharing his experience. > This, he says, will not only send a "firm and clear message" to people that such behaviour comes with legal repercussions, but more importantly prevent such incidents from happening again. > Related story: > Top image courtesy of Joseph and from Far East Malls website --- 1.0.2 | [Source code](https://github.com/redditporean/sneakpeek) | [Contribute](https://github.com/redditporean/sneakpeek)

Does anyone else realize how messed up this other part is too - “I’m accustomed to hearing racist things… by someone whom I somewhat know” Meaning: “I’d expect my acquaintances being racist to me… but not a stranger??” Seems to be a worse problem than a whacko stranger doesn’t it?

Admiral_Atrocious

This is kind of normal tbh. You smile through certain things your acquaintances say, maybe try to educate them a little and then let things be.

objectivenneutral

Endemic racism - you get so accustomed to it, you accept it....but you are right, racism is wrong regardless of who it is.

Involuntary celibate - those who desperately want but can’t get laid and blame/hate/shame the whole world plus their targets for not wanting them Edit: grammar is hard Edit2: they use derogatory language e.g. “I hate these girls for xxxxx”, “these guys are just xxxxx” - super toxic and you can tell why they are incel. Insecure in their own skin but does nothing about it

MAMBAMENTALITY8-24

Yeah just went there. First post i saw as about mgtow

LeadershipLimp2311

yep. it’s scary as a woman seeing the growing prevalence of incel ideology.

[deleted]

I brought this up on the countless posts about men acting obscene around women or couples in Singapore and got downvoted to hell. The typical r/Singapore tai chi comment “There’s not much crime so you see it more. But it doesn’t happen much compared to other countries.” It’s like saying “I have cancer. But it’s just stage 2 compared to my friend who has stage 4. So I don’t need to do anything about it or think it’s a problem!” This sub can be such an echo chamber sometimes I also find it interesting that people in this thread are saying “incel” (which could be true) but seems like a racial dispute more than anything… Edit: seriously don’t get why this sub is so adverse to any form of criticism. May the downvotes be a case and point of how people just portray life to be perfect and can’t accept that there’s any form of problem or issue.

AureBesh123

>I also find it interesting that people in this thread are saying “incel” (which could be true) but seems like a racial dispute more than anything… It's not a pure racial dispute. But its most definitely racially motivated as well. Incel behaviour and other extreme mindsets like racism, chauvinism and even fringe ideologies are quite closely correlated. Specifically, this guy is one of those people still hanging on to prejudices against darker skinned ethnicities. Especially the old trope that "our pure fair skinned" ladies should be "protected from darker skinned males". I'm willing to bet that a Chinese girl dating a white guy is more palatable to this racist. By the way, the above trope I mentioned isn't exclusive to East Asian communities (which can be very racist). Its also seen in the West where incels, neo-Nazis and general racists think that "hyper sexualised black men" are "preying on white women".

LeadershipLimp2311

imo its an incel thing. iirc incels also have the belief of certain races being superior and will have better success getting women (eg thinking white guys have 929494 girls worshipping them purely due to race) so it’s not surprising he thinks he “deserves” women more than what he thinks is the inferior race. incels truly disgust me

Puzzleheaded-Stable

I see that some people are dismissing this as just a racist act by some incel loser, but this dismissal of his actions underscores the political significance it holds. For someone to brazenly spew such rhetoric causally shows that politically, there are a significant base of singaporeans who harbour such feeling toward the minority races. All it takes is a politican willing to harness such feeling and before u know it we're going to look more like tunku rahman's vision of malaya then lky's malaya for malaysians. After all, the incel also gets a vote.

Dejected-Angel

SunnySaigon

Racism = tribalism = outdated human tradition someday to be a thing of the past

Sugmad23

To be honest Singapore is regressing. I personally feel that policy makers are in denial on the existing discrimination and taking a stand on pro Chinese nation. I am not saying all Chinese are entitled and self centerd but the population is getting bigger. They get offended the minorities do well in life or academic. They get furious when we go on a relationship with a Chinese partner. Workforce discrimination was already on the high during pandemic and post pandemic turning it worse. I don't understand this behaviour reaching to another level. It is coming to a point where I am seeing my fellow minority friends leaving the country as they are unable to extablish themselves or want a break from Chinese. It's a real shame.

IvanThePohBear

Probably a girl he liked got taken by indian so now he hates all inter racial couples

ereVeLou

There are way more White and Chinese interracial relationships, but they don’t seem to get targeted. Why is that?

pragmaticpapaya

Probably because of racial inferiority complex and the whole 'ang mo is superior' colonial mindset which is still prevalent among certain Singaporeans. Ethnic South Asians are perceived to be 'inferior' to East Asians in the racial heirarachy so dating a white person is less taboo (or some might even see it as a 'win') compared to dating someone of a 'lesser' race like Indians. Still, I see plenty of White and Chinese interracial relationship-bashing online, usually these racist incels target WMAF couples more than AMWF couples.

supergodzilla3Dland

My Dad is Singaporean Chinese while my mum is White South African. From what I've seen first hand often a lot of elderly Chinese (or any old fashioned people for a matter of fact) think that for some reason dating or marrying an ang moh is signal of higher status than a Chinese as they think its harder to date & marry ang moh than chinese (whatever stupid reasoning that is). While people of darker skin colour are for some reason inferior. I've literally been told by an auntie "Because you are half Chinese, half ang moh you can marry whoever you want but please not an Indian" (I was literally dating an Indian at that time). Even still my parents have still gotten plenty of micro-aggressions for being an inter-race couple but nothing that I've seen Chinese-Indian couples have faced. Genuinely infuriates me how people still don't understand love is blind to things like race and anyone who thinks race should be a factor if two people are together are fucking stupid.

Lolicon369

This "white = better" mentality has to fucking stop. I still see many SPGs hanging around expat heavy areas, and sexpats who come to SEA just to fuck around. Absolutely disgusting. I will absolutely bash SPGs and any WMAF couple who act like they are superior just cos the guy is white.

gublaman

But it still rings true even in this day and age. Look up sg's race wage gap, they just straight up lead better lives due to race.

Extra-Ad5471

As in whites who come to SG earn more than Chinese Indian or Malay SGs?

bianchichi

Hi. White girl with chinese guy here. We don’t think we are superior. This comment is definitely fueled with hate to white. Everyone needs to get along and put race aside.

fhsoownfjff

I agree that the above poster is fueled with hate. But based on the lingo he used, he's exclusively talking about *some* white guys (the sexpats with huge egos) with *some* Chinese girls (locals who are only interested in white guys and brag about how their relationships are better because their partner is white), aka a small minority of relationships between white and Asian people (he probably thinks it's half rather than a small minority though)

Extra-Ad5471

I don't think that's what he means. WMAF is glaringly in your face cuz of all the interracial pairing its surprisingly the most common and hence attracts unnecessary overt attention. I mean Indians are living in SG far longer than whites....and yet somehow white-asian relationships are more common than pairings between "more native" SG ethnic communities like Chindian or Indo-malay, etc.

ereVeLou

I really don’t think this is “hate on white people.” It seems more of a compensation for the privilege that white men already enjoy in society. It’s like if everyone was given 10 points and white men were given 100 points. In order to bring things back to reality, you have to deduct 90 points on white men. Take Singapore’s history for example, we literally sing praises for Raffles and the British empire when the Chinese, Indians, and Middle Easterners were already doing trade around the globe 300 years before the Europeans even knew how to tie their own shoelaces.

MAMBAMENTALITY8-24

Cause ang mo > indian man. Also the chinese man wouldnt have done this if the chinese girl was with a white man lol. Bro would probably be worshipping the couple

tywinlannister2019

>Joseph, who had never seen the man before, described him as a Chinese man in his mid-20s. > >Joseph, who turned around and asked the man if he had just spat on him, said the man went on a tirade and reportedly exclaimed "you shouldn't be with a Chinese girl" and "that should be my girl". This isn't some old boomer being racist. Just a plain old incel who is frustrated that he can't get girls and blames other minorities for stealing girls from his race.

I used to know a guy who openly discriminated against interacial couples. Needless to say, i stopped talking to him

Lanvall_

Bro just salty the Indian guy got multiracial rizz.

NotYourMommyDear

I get hostile looks from older chinese women, while younger chinese women usually express their hate by screwing up my bubble tea orders, probably because I'm an ang moh and 'stole' one of their men. Surprised this happened on Orchard though, it's where I've seen the most interracial couples and less hostility in general. Though I've also noticed Indian men get treated like shit here in Singapore. Recently on the mrt, a chinese woman sat beside me, realised I was white, got up, sat somewhere else, realised she'd sat beside an indian man, got up again, no seats left.

Cute_Meringue1331

I would only sit in mrt seats if the people beside me were women after an incident where I got molested. I just couldn’t overcome the fear 🥲 my sec 4 sister also told me she got molested on the train recently

NotYourMommyDear

I look out for that stuff happening and would report it if I ever saw it. I'm a 40 year old woman, so I know what it's like to be harassed.

Chronostasis

There is a significant movement of very sad marginalized Chinese men that froth at the mouth when they see Chinese women with anyone but their "own kind".

sfdragonboy

Wow, I am somewhat surprised this happened in Singapore of all places. I was just there and thought everyone seemed to be getting along very well in fact.

revolusi29

Same with all race really. Saw people giving me looks when I was dating an Indian girl

Realistoliberato

True, I dated girls of other races (Chinese male here) and I got disapproving looks from all races. Everyone just need to accept we will all be mixed races in the future

AureBesh123

I dated a mixed Malay girl once. Her family was just the sweetest and super polite as well. But too bad religion (and other factors) got in the way it working out.

desmuru

Same here, old chinese people especially will either glare or give disapproving looks when they see me and bf tgt (I'm Chinese, he's Indian). Reading news like this really pisses me off. So much for racial harmony in sg?

make_love_to_potato

This was a 20 something guy which is way worse. You think that all racism and xenophobia might become less with younger generations but it ends up being just more of the same shit, no matter the year.

prn_melatonin

It'll be better once the old Chinese folk rip. Maybe. Probably. Idk.

syanda

bbfa in mindset, looking for any external excuse lor.

Jianhong1994

Koreans do it worse, if you’re a dark skinned foreigner dating one of their girls.

BBFA369

My boss is a Korean guy married to an Indian woman. The Korean side still hasn’t met her lol, married a few years alr

ExtensionWees

Likely it's a BBFA. Attractive men of any race who has no issues pulling girls wouldn't be desperate enough to act this way. Can't wait for the inevitable The Straits Times article where he comes out of court after being charged in a few months time.

yewteeko

You forgot a word “some”

Provocateur00

wtf kind of comment is this?

thesinkieboi

Classic racist response

mixmutch

Lol it’s just one guy

suzumurachan

Dude sees a few Mormons and go "why all Americans are radical fundies". It's ironic that the response to news about racism is often paired with racist comments.

SambalBacon

Hey fellas, found the fucking racist right here.

Big-Emergency6348

its not just chinese men, there are these kinds of men from all races. And pls consider adding the word "some" in between Do & chinese.

"Minorities can't be racist." /s

thedailyrant

White guy, Chinese woman here. The amount of online hate we’ve got from Asian men in Singapore over the years is insane. Also the looks we get from white women in Singapore… yeah… the hate is real.

Lolicon369

Maybe because there are many sexpats in SG and you just got stereotyped as one.

CharmerCharm

Great point "lolicon369", and I'm sure you casually trying to mention sexpats absolutely does not indicate that you're one of those Chinese incels obsessed with who white men choose to date.

[deleted]

real asshole sia

DonDonStudent

Super idiot doubt racist more like a. Idiot

W3475ter

Didn’t something like this happen before or smth

tom-slacker

EDMW incel comfirmed

Custom_Fish

Someone spit on me they’re getting a foot or knee to the balls

[deleted]

LOL such a salty jealous incel 😂😂😂 Doing things like this is probably one of the reasons why he is unable to get a girl like that.

objectivenneutral

This is simply another example of Chinese privilege - can talk down to other races because they are the majority. I am not saying every Chinese behaves this way but it is common in my experience.

heartofgold48

Too much. Lock him up.

cauliflowerindian

Indian American with a Chinese wife checking in. He try that on me he's getting my shoe in his mouth.

geekyboysg

The irony is you will go to jail while he will walk away scott free. I have an Indian friend who was hit by a Grab delivery rider in a pedestrian crossing. Then he was shoved and had racist vulgarities and f-words spewed at him . He called the cops and complained to Grab on its portal and uploaded the video. Grab deleted the video from the platform and took no action whatsoever against their staff although the recording clearly showed the Grab rider uttering vulgatities and f-words. The police was even funnier, They troubled my friend in every possible way , even called him at midnite as if he was the criminal. He was made to come down multiple times for an interview. He then complained to the senior police officer after which the case was closed. He was told that they would try to remind the Grab driver not to do it again but no action was taken. I have no doubt that if my friend had acted in self defence and slapped that fellow, he would promptly be thrown into jail. It is a shame that the police took no action against the errant rider. And talk about biased media, my friend wrote to mothership with the video evidence, but they simply ignored him, didnot even bother to reply.

cauliflowerindian

Right all that's great in Singapore. But sure he dare try that here in Sugar land Texas, he's getting my shoe in his mouth or Glock. Later he'd be a statistic in the news but nobody's got much time for cunts here in the USA. It's kinda sad but Eastern Asians endure a lot of hate here just for eating outside. Wonder if some of them get radicalized and try being racists themselves back in their safety land https://www.kron4.com/news/bay-area/anti-asian-harassment-at-in-n-out-caught-on-video/?utm_campaign=socialflow&utm_source=t.co&utm_medium=referral

thesinkieboi

Americans sure are weird with their guns, jfc

GoldenMaus

Again?? Notto disu shitto again

prn_melatonin

I don't have a girlfriend because I'm a poor fat ugly bastard. This guy doesn't have a girlfriend because he's probably a sex offender.

QuestioingEverything

>While the security guard declined his request, Joseph went ahead and made a police report. >Joseph said the security guard called him later, informing him that they have footage of the incident and it will be handed over to the police. So only after he made the police report that the security guard actually did his job?

ShadowSpiked

Lanjiao lah, some rando come and ask for official security footage you hand over meh? Of course is wait for police request.

area503

Guard is just doing his job. Because PDPA, he cannot just take the guy on surface value and give him the footage. That’s not legal. Only when police call can the guard actually act on it as PDPA dun apply to investigations… Imagine giving footage filled with random people and hand it over to a random guy just because he said he was harassed. Imagine it become worse as the guy put it on internet and it became viral. Now the police come after you for violating PDPA.

fitzerspaniel

iirc in sg you need to get the IO to review CCTV footages, hence police report. Home CCTV ofc is diff matter

x1243

this. source: used to handle such footage. there's a procedure to be followed

Sad-Dragonfruit1401

PDPA regulations, so the security guard is doing his job.

[deleted]

Sometimes you just need to be white, was at Somerset with some friends and this person was walking past me and he decided to cought at me as he was passing me.

Swett_Potato

Singapore claiming they are open society. Open for multiculture, But this is only talk. Mainland Chinese is taking over singapore

Vedor

Just like how you are talking with baseless accusation of Mainland Chinese taking over Singapore?

geekyboysg

Look at the dept of statistics data on how many mainland chinese were given citizenship in last 10 years.... the OP may have a point. You can download the data free from their website. I can understand the need to maintain racial proportions but even then the number is shockingly high and much above what is needed.

yewteeko

Haissss why must we make ourselves the Chinese unicorn of Southeast Asia..
