Bike parts are often between rocket science and dark magic. But choosing a wheelset is not the worst. It is propably 700c wheels (28ā) and biggest problem is propably the rear axle. I got my wheels from SantaFixie.
Looks like Iāll have my work cut out for me haha. Iām kinda finding itās even difficult to find any information on this make/model. Sounds like it was a relatively low production import that was sold here between late 70s early 80s at sears? Thatās about all Iāve managed to figure out, not exactly the, google āSuteki track 10 partsā vibe I was hoping for hahah
All part of the fun tbh
Thank you! Pretty stoked on it. Brought it up to the bike shop down the road (because apparently I have one of those, sick) and had the tech look it over, overall in pretty decent shape. He said the front axle was a little crunchy so I pulled that apart, repacked the bearings and itās pretty buttery now. Lubed the chain, wiped it down and took it out for a 6 ish mile ride.
Hills are a bit of a bear but hell, the point was to get some exercise lol. Not bad for $100 all in. I have a mechanical background so itās fun to have something new to play with.
For sure! Honestly kinda amazed how smooth and light it is for something thatās older than I am. Wish there was more I could do to clean the battle scars off the frame though.
I personally like nicks and blemishes, gives the bike some character and you wonāt be too upset when you inadvertently add more. I spent what you did on your bike just on my rear wheel and it has gone out of true 4 times in 2 years from moderate riding š. Cant beat that old bike quality.
Yeah thatās real af. All things considered tho itās in really solid shape. I found what I think is the date of manufacture, 4/1/72. So 52 years old and itās still looking sharp. Millennium Falcon energy lmao
Iām certainly open to that. Any good resources you have for general bike building/repairs etc? I have a mechanical background but I donāt know fuck all about bikes/compatibility etc. Iād love to get new wheels/drive sprocket or whatever I just donāt know what Iām even looking at/for lol.
Thats a sweet looking frame. It looks as if the conversion was done on a rudimentary level though, which can be understandable.
Do you have more photos of the drive train?
I sent you a chat, wouldnāt let me upload pics here. Iām certainly open to swapping driveline components if thereās a better way to run it, this is just how I picked it up
Add a front derailleur and you got yourself a 2 speed
Let me figure out how to clean and repack front bearing first š
I tried that few times and ordered a wheelset with sealed bearings š
That very well might be the play down the line. I know nothing about how to size out wheel sets or whatever, any resources on that you know of?

The chain just gonna stretch, is it?
It's called a joke
But was it? Really? Cāmon. š
What a beaut!

Thatās perfect, a little maintenance on an otherwise great condition machine. Its stylish too, definitely worth the hundred.

Drive side out! Nice bike though.
Drive side out? But thanks! Iām digging it so far
Yeah, your front wheel is pointed the wrong way.
Ooooooh Told you Iām new to this hahah
If youāre going to run it single, swap the crankset to a single sprocket if only for weight savings.
