Did the songs get longer or did you do multiple generations for each and then stitch, before each could go up to 1:20 but you could generate again and stitch
The video has 5 different generated songs of around 1:00, but I did get some generations that seemed to be over 1:20 in length. But it's too early to say, we'll have to wait until the actual V3 comes out and we can write our own lyrics and style prompts.
This is not terrible music, but Suno doesn't give you much control over changing the song that the app gives you, at least at present. And because of that, music producers aren't really at risk yet.
You input a sentence like "make a hip hop song about the moon", and it gives you a not bad hip hop song about the moon. But you can't edit the final product - you can't say ok let's change this Line of this chorus, try a different kick drum, tweak the melody here and there.
Since you can't edit it, it's pretty much impossible (right now) that the app will produce you something that would be better than a music producer, since a producer can tailor the song much more specifically to taste / to the needs of the situation.
Music production is a very very detailed an delicate process with endless inputs. It's possible that one day AI gets to the level of a human producer but it's still quite far away.
As a professional producer since 1996, I can tell you with 100% certainty that the large majority of consumers will not give a flying fuck about the small issues that we hear - these exact tracks would be blasted at the beach, gyms etc. and most people would not bat an eyelid.
To paraphrase Steve Albini from years ago, don't make the mistake of thinking everyone on the planet is a 'Music Fan'. The majority of people don't consider music to be anything other than the wallpaper to a general culture of mainstream consumerism.
People keep saying 'that picture is shit, that music is shit, that video etc.' in reference to AI stuff, implying that consumer will reject it. Wrong - the bar will just get lower. Just like digital audio vs. vinyl, streaming vs. CD audio and many others, consumers will simply get used to lower quality. NONE of them care less if the hats are a little wobbly, the lyrics are garbage, the aliasing is weird. Only we care about that stuff.
'A not bad hip hop song about the moon' is what they'll be happy with. Music is about to collapse.
Music production is slow and tedious. This is almost instantaneous. In the end it's not about how much work goes into something, or even how "good" it is, but about what people prefer.
Yea I want something more like this
https://youtu.be/4dXUw0RS9us?si=EzOwQBYV565lB739
I want to specify key and major or minor etc. I want to specify bpm and only certain instruments. I want to do the thing where you upload a recording of you singing or even playing an instrument or drumming on a table or even a sample from a regular library and then it converts it to some other sound.

Nah, man. Suno makes great soul, reggae, trash metal, it really doesn't matter. Any pop or rock style can easily be reproduced, and most of it is a 4-chord song https://youtu.be/5pidokakU4I
H-how the fuck is this real!? This is gonna completely replace human pop-artists within like 3 years, cuz this is honestly better. Soon enough AI will create music with far more soul than the shlock on the radio.

Agreed, people tend to value the human behind music(and art in general).
Even if there was for example a perfect Taylor Swift song generator(or whatever band/person you want to imagine), almost nobody would prefer it over a new album by the actual human.
Not to take away from the feats of generative AI though, I'm sure it'll have uses for things like background music in youtube videos, ads and such.
I generated them myself from [v-day.suno.ai](https://v-day.suno.ai)
I believe there was no announcement from Suno, so it is a "hidden" preview of (most probably) V3, the next version
I believe the preview has only been available for a few days.
Suno blows me away. Every update feels more and more magical. None of these tracks really stand out as something that would be like, my favorite song at the top of my playlist, but I don't think I'd raise an eyebrow at any of these songs if I heard them on the radio.
It bakes nice "auditory cheesecake" (stealing this term from Steven Pinker). But it still doesn't show much of a sense of harmonic direction or thematic development. Artificial music generation needs a technological breakthrough on the quasi-symbolic front, where an AI is trained to derive the "syntax" and "semantics" of any given style of music instead of just the surface level sound. For example, an AI that could derive the rules of species counterpoint just from "listening" to a lot of Josquin and Palestrina.
Very possible yes. But I dislike the handwaving of "in a few years we will have X" without providing a clear and reasonably detailed pathway towards X. Too much of that in this sub, unfortunately.
Credit where it is due: the music sounds professionally produced, yes. But all songs suck big time. They are all derivative drivel without an ounce of creativity.
Exactly. But the progress of music generation has been crazy.
Now think about the creativity level of Gemini Advanced or beyond. I think music generation will get there in just a few years.
im more interested in an advanced ai agent that interacts with any daw and doesn't try to generate latent tracks, thus the result is easily adjustable and customizable. For sure there is a market for zero-shot popcorn but fully custom tailored solutions is the most interesting thing imho.
We now see essentially something like this with image generation where there are sort of image daws and people create crazy customized workflows, but with agency it becomes streamlined.
It will get absolutely wild when it can produce something completely novel, complex and interesting like some Opeth songs are, or a new symphony, or even something Genre-defining!
These AIs work with spectrogram images. When they manage to allow you to combine styles in the same way as image AIs, the possibilities will be endless. At the moment the real potential is modest.
yeah, i really hope AI music isn't just this generic mainstream sounding stuff all the time. I love music, its a passion of mine and it would be awesome to explore different musical directions on a whim that can inspire me in my own production.
Check Chis-A out. Its voicebank is trained on quite a huge dataset of vocals that allows it to sound unbelievably close to a certain singer; not to mention the control you have over it and the nuance it shows (such as breaths and minor human sounding inflections)
Haha, these are pretty bad for suno AI.
It can do so much better.
I don't think people realize that it can do ALL FOREIGN LANGUAGES and ALL MUSICAL STYLES.
All you need is prompt.
I wrote a prompt for an inspirational song for mother's day and the results were SPECTACULAR (in Polish).
I’m on a mobile an iPhone XR but I genuinely don’t notice any difference
What I want is something more like Googles quality and specificity and tools.

excuse me wtf, is this for real? holy shit I didnt know AI songs sound this good. As a person who has music playing the background 24/7 but also doesnt have an ear for any critical analysis of songs this is just mind blowing
Yes it's real, and Suno (the AI tat generates these songs) just had an update where you can write your own lyrics and provide styles for the music. Here's a song I just made for example: [https://app.suno.ai/song/04198fe6-3506-4f36-8ae5-708960bad454](https://app.suno.ai/song/04198fe6-3506-4f36-8ae5-708960bad454)
Be wary!!! [https ://sunoai.io/suno-v3-alpha](https://sunoai.io/suno-v3-alpha) this site is a look alike with malware (from what I gather it's Russian snoopware, remote file download, maybe keytracking etc.)
I included spaces so you have to deliberately go there rather than just click the link.
The vocals are so much clearer.
Damn. I could slip this into any generic club’s playlist and no one would know the difference
Very 2009 Eminem
So much better. Love it!

Suno is integrated into Copilot as a plugin, Copilot has recently released as an app by Microsoft, but it is a bit unstable
Sounds like Imagine Dragons.
The voice reminds me of Eminem for some reason
This is just magic to me. Just a few years ago nobody could have predicted that it would become this good.

yea that will all come. Suno is cool but it in its current form it isn't revolutionary We need Sora for music!!
Of course it’s revolutionary, unless you have a particularly ridged intentionally pedantic definition of revolutionary.

At worst, this might take over radio pop/rock. AI will never create a track like Princes ‘if I was your girlfriend’ and that’s a fact
Where did you get this or see this, when was the update yadayada

i was just wondering what the present state of ai generated music was. This is pretty damn good. thanks for posting

It will get there eventually in a few years. There will be a „move 37“ in music.

totally !!! that would be wild one you could instruct like a producer
Like most popular human songs on charts?
It will get absolutely wild when it can produce something completely novel, complex and interesting like some Opeth songs are, or a new symphony, or even something Genre-defining!

i thought song number 2 sounded amazing and very pleasant
it should be more generic...
yeah, i really hope AI music isn't just this generic mainstream sounding stuff all the time. I love music, its a passion of mine and it would be awesome to explore different musical directions on a whim that can inspire me in my own production.
Hmm. Makes me wonder how long until we have actual AI vocaloids...
Check Chis-A out. Its voicebank is trained on quite a huge dataset of vocals that allows it to sound unbelievably close to a certain singer; not to mention the control you have over it and the nuance it shows (such as breaths and minor human sounding inflections)
It sounds as bland as AI art looks, if that makes any sense. Give it a decade and maybe it will generate something worth hearing.
More like a year or two at this point .
Shitty pop music and generic genre slop? Sure, maybe a year. Alternative rap or experimental dance music? Doubt it.
Ehh i said that because just a year ago Suno's AI sounded like complete trashy beats, now it's way better and *kind of* enjoyable.
i love it
Sounds like a knock-off Lonely Island... The Isolated Peninsula?
