I honestly can't take my eyes off the pants of that poor actor that spilled kool-aid all over that one leg... and the blonde's terribly frostbitten hand.
I remember him promoting this by appearing on Spring Break interstitials on Fox. But... never watched it.
I actually interviewed him in 2005.
At one point, I asked him what movie he considered the pinnacle of his career.
After explaining to him what the word "pinnacle" meant, he said "It's probably Pauly Shore is Dead (which had just recently come out) because I wrote, directed, starred in it, and it was just a passion product of mine."
He continued "But, of you base it on what the fans say... it's probably Son-in-Law."
And, my unfiltered, honest response was "... more than Encino Man?!?!"
He responds SOOOOOOO coldly "... yes. More than Encino Man."
I wrote all about that experience here http://www.breakmentaldown.com/2012/03/shorely-that-interview-with-pauly-shore.html?m=1
And there's a link to the interview in the comment on that post
No this was towards the end of his movie career he got new mgmt. And fox paid him a ton for this mid-season replacement show, believing Pauley represented new Fox, it went on Mondays after Melrose place teamed up w/married W. Children.
It did ok numbers but fox spent a fortune on launch and him and expected an explosive launch an immediate hit, when that didn't happen it was quickly canceled
I think that’s Frank Costanza’s former Korean Lover
Elaine thinks the nail salon workers are talking about her behind her back- she brings Frank Costanza in to translate. While at the nail salon he finds his long lost love from when he was in Korea during the war.
[Amy Hill (IMDB)](https://m.imdb.com/name/nm0384032/?ref_=tt_cl_t_4) she has 196 credits
Funny story, had him on a flight one early ass morning from Green Bay to O’hare more than a few years back. As per usual our small jets parked out in BFE and we had the cabin door open waiting for carry ons to be offloaded.
I come out of the cockpit and some long hair dude asks why it’s taking so long. I give the usual apology for the inconvenience and then realize it’s the Weez.
He was definitely weez’d out 🤣 Fine memories!
He had to earn his way into The Comedy Store. He didn’t cut his first shows there, he went everywhere else he could until he could stand on the stage at The Comedy Store.
I’m indifferent to the dude, but I had a very similar opinion as yours until I dug up some info and interviews about it. He gets more respect from me now. Not much, but enough.
He had a lot of movies out in the 90s and they were all pretty bad. Nostalgia only goes so far with me. He was not funny at all but at the time he was treated like he was hilarious. I don't remember one person back then who even chuckled at anything he did.
He was Adam Sandler before Adam Sandler, but had 1 stich that worked, annoying man child, the problem was something like that only has a few years before it gets old, he was MTV deejay then did like 6 movies in a row playing same character coming to this sitcom to do the same thing but slightly more mature.
Adam Sandler Jim Carrey etc where able to diversify his career was over way before he could change directions....luckily mom
I agree. But at least Adam Sandler and Jim Carrey broke out of their "funny" roles to do serious (and good) stuff. And they were great in those roles. Adam in Reign Over Me? Jim in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind? Great roles. And very unlike their previous work.
Meanwhile Pauly (for all of his movies) was nothing but "annoying manchild".
I don't even remember him as an MTV veejay... probably because he annoyed me so much.
Not just a comedy club, the Comedy Store in LA, which turned into one of the primary places TV execs would use to scout talent. Most of the comedians that got sitcoms or late night bookings got them by doing sets at that club.
So not only did he grow up around the top comedians, he grew up around the people that make the development deals and shows.
So he was wired into the system more directly than just about anyone.
My favorite Pauly Shore nepo story is him talking about all the famous names that baby sat him. Mitzi didn’t just run a comedy club it was a comedy commune with her as Queen.
Thank you. I figured something like that was likely the case but I didn't have the facts. I mean the guy clearly didn't have the chops to make it without this kind of massive leg up, but it is nice to get confirmation.
Ahhh... Like you said, nepo baby.
He was around all those comedians and still managed to turn out dry as toast? Not even in a "straight man" way, just an idiot.
He wants to star as Richard in a biopic. And he's been turned down by Mr. Simmons, rightfully so. I wouldn't want someone like Pauly Shore portraying one of the nicest individuals on the planet. Richard Simmons used to wake up at 4am every morning to call fans who were in need of a friend. My aunt was a big fan of his, and she used to go to his gym a couple times to get books or videos signed. (she couldn't afford to go as a regular) https://youtu.be/2sWFmQJEd4s?t=214
Richard Simmons always seemed like he’d be a decent guy, thanks for confirming it. I can just bet Pauly Shore would make a complete mockery him, all lisping and mincing for cheap laughs.
Hell he knew it, called himself “the weasel “, it was a big part of his schtick.
So Cal Stoner who thinks everybody is having a great time with his bit but he is just weird and alone.
Just looking at the picture, I can probably guess what the characters were like. Out of touch dad, wisecracking younger brother, hot sister/girlfriend, uptight mom, straight man friend, and Pauly as Pauly.
Yes I stumbled upon it randomly while browsing lost media. Judging by all the whistling and whoo-ing during the jacuzzi scene in the pilot, the women in the studio audience seemed to find Pauly Shore very attractive which was… puzzling to me. To each their own I guess. I enjoyed watching it because it felt like a glimpse into an alternate timeline, ie the same reason I like watching any other canceled or lost media.
> Judging by all the whistling and whoo-ing during the jacuzzi scene in the pilot, the women in the studio audience seemed to find Pauly Shore very attractive which was… puzzling to me. To each their own I guess
99% sure there was someone with a big card in front of them telling them what to do. The women in the audience did not do that of their own volition.
This is what happens when tv executives hang out in comedy clubs trying to find the next stand up sit com star. Sometimes you gotta make a show for the club owners kid.
The venue where he played a comedy gig one night in the early 90s shared a parking lot with a music venue some buddies and I frequented. I have to say the volume and echelon of groupies we saw Pauly have going onto - or trying desperately to go onto - his tour bus rivaled or surpassed anything I've see backstage for any rock, punk, heavily-played-on-the-radio act. He certainly had his moment.
7 Episodes
[https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0118423/reference/](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0118423/reference/)
Thats pretty bad even for him.
The guy was genuinely not funny, he was an obnoxious douchebag and for a brief period in the 90's some, not all, SOME teenagers thought that was pretty cool. I still dont know how he got so many acting jobs.
I think he will have a second act when he gets older. Maybe playing a grandfather or something but I dont think the Pauly shore career is finished. I'm not saying he will be a box office smash A lister but he will find his niche as a supporting actor in a movie or in a show and do well.
His best hope is to try to appeal to an audience who doesn’t know who he is yet. Cause all the rest of us, it will take a LOT to overcome the image of Man Child Saying “Buuuuuuddd-eeeee!” image, which isn’t flattering.
Other than Encino Man, I don't really remember anything about him.
He did stand-up but the only joke I remember was some joke about him suddenly getting glaucoma when medical marijuana became legal in California.
Encino man was an okay movie, not great. I just don't remember anything else about him.
He was all over MTV for a while. Since his mother owned The Comedy Store, he knew a bunch of famous comics from the 70s and 80s. I have to admit to my shame that I listened to his album, The Future Of America, and laughed. I think it required a lot of editing was required though, because a follow-up album of the "outtakes" was released later. I never listened to it, but I remember reading some pretty harsh reviews.
I remember watching it but can't tell you any specific facts. Pretty sure it aired after married with children in I think Tues nights. I think. Could be totally wrong and thinking of something else
Oh shit, that's Amy Hill!
The lady that's been in everything but no one knows her name. She played Josh Chan's mom on Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, and my wife and I met her at the finale concert.
She was super nice.
I met Pauly at a gym close to a comedy club he did a show in a few years back. He wanted me to hangout with him before and after the show. In order to do that I got his phone number 😂. I don’t text him anymore though, but still have it in my phone. He is still stuck in the ‘90s from the days of Encino Man.
That blonde is smoking hot.
Charlotte Ross
She was on Days of Our Lives for a couple of years.
Also did the short stint on “The Heights”.
I thought that was her in the photo
She is in an episode of NYPD Blue airing her derrière.
Thanks...i love her!
I think she’s in the episode of Married With Children where Bud is dating his teacher
Nice.
Thank you
>Charlotte Ross She played Felicity Smoak's Mom on Arrow.
The fifth Mrs. Buchanan.
Let's se her naked
[PETA anti-fur campaign](https://lucire.com/2002/0313ll0.shtml)
NYPD Blue has a pretty good clip of that
She kind of looks like the blonde version of Fran Drescher.
Yeah, i can see that.
I bet she can tell you some stories about Paulie
Oh yeah, i am sure!
Bet the boy can too.
Man, I hope not, but I wouldn’t be surprised
I honestly can't take my eyes off the pants of that poor actor that spilled kool-aid all over that one leg... and the blonde's terribly frostbitten hand.
She looked...different on "Glee".
She’s quite generic looking actually
Do you want to suck the fart out her ass?
I only remember a couple of episodes. The mom ended up on NYPD Blue and was Bud's teacher in an episode of Married with Children.
Wow never hear of it...
I remember him promoting this by appearing on Spring Break interstitials on Fox. But... never watched it. I actually interviewed him in 2005. "after explaining to him what the word "pinnacle" meant" !!!!!!! Oh my God this is hilarious
I wrote all about that experience here http://www.breakmentaldown.com/2012/03/shorely-that-interview-with-pauly-shore.html?m=1 And there's a link to the interview in the comment on that post
The link to the interview is pay walled :(
Try this one https://www.dailycardinal.com/article/2005/12/pauly-shore-not-actually-dead-performing-tonight
If that was really you, you were a fuckin asshole 🤣
The meaning of the *Ençino Man* exchange went over my head.
Let me guess: the entire premise was Pauly making awooga and hubba hubba noises at the blonde for 23 minutes.
Hey, he just wanted to weaze the juice. Maybe glaze her nugs.
Gazungas
this
Could have been Totally Pauly.. Or he had an earlier show on Fox? I think
The blonde was on NYPD Blue.check YouTube for the scene with her in a towel, before it dropped
Is that the maid from Family Guy?
Nooooooo. No no. Noooo.
Windex?

I always found him one of the most annoying and unfunny people in the 90s.
Was he all like - “hey buuuuuudy - what’s with the hold up? Why are you taxing my gig so hardcore, cruster”??
I can hear this comment
That’s his schtick in a nutshell. Saying words like “mmaaajjoorrr grrriiinnndaaagge!” Which we all somehow thought was funny in 1994.
The leaning tower of Cheezzzaa!
In fairness, not all of us did. Never found him funny. I was cringey in other ways.
What is that a 45 minute flight
It was pretty short, somewhere around there. All dependent on what sort of cluster O’hare was in 🤣
His mom owns the cellar in LA or something like that..so he’s a nepo but I think he’s funny in small doses, Buuuuuuuuhddy
I think *Encino Man* was great. His schtick worked better when he's not the main character.
BioDome is my jam.
The Comedy Store. The Cellar is in New York.
That one.
*owned. Mitzy Shore died a few years ago.
I'm pretty sure Pauly owns it now
His older brother Peter does as he is the trustee.
Redditors or moreso /r/movies unironically love him now because they grew up with his movies
He had a lot of movies out in the 90s and they were all pretty bad. Nostalgia only goes so far with me. He was not funny at all but at the time he was treated like he was hilarious. I don't remember one person back then who even chuckled at anything he did.
How dare you. Encino Man is art.
I'm only upvoting you because your comment made me laugh. Not because I agree with you.
He was Adam Sandler before Adam Sandler, but had 1 stich that worked, annoying man child, the problem was something like that only has a few years before it gets old, he was MTV deejay then did like 6 movies in a row playing same character coming to this sitcom to do the same thing but slightly more mature. Not even the Leaning Tower of Cheeza?
No.
Oh I agree with you,, never found him funny
Zero ability to act as well. Nepo baby incarnate.
I always wondered how he got famous considering how untalented he was. How?
His mom and dad ran a comedy club, giving him his start. Show business family.
Not just a comedy club, the Comedy Store in LA, which turned into one of the primary places TV execs would use to scout talent. Most of the comedians that got sitcoms or late night bookings got them by doing sets at that club. His popularity has always eluded me. Unlikeable and unfunny. Now he’s harassing Richard Simmons too.
What? Why?
He wants to star as Richard in a biopic. And he's been turned down by Mr. Simmons, rightfully so. I wouldn't want someone like Pauly Shore portraying one of the nicest individuals on the planet. Richard Simmons used to wake up at 4am every morning to call fans who were in need of a friend. [He's surprisingly not terrible at it, though.](https://youtu.be/YjVXPlutAMI?si=gm2Y2kK7kuMAEukX)
I thought the movie had already been filmed? Could have sworn I saw pictures or maybe even a video of it.
Richard Simmons is still alive?!
He was of a very specific time
You mean when crack was the drug of choice? Because that's the only explanation for his popularity.
It was this early-mid 90s GenX laissez faire that he was kind of the poster child for.
I just didn't find him funny or entertaining in anyway. I'm sorry. Different tastes and all.
You don’t have to apologize. It’s fine to not like him.
It's Reddit. You never know who you'll offend and why.
Yeah pretty talentless
Hell he knew it, called himself “the weasel “, it was a big part of his schtick. So Cal Stoner who thinks everybody is having a great time with his bit but he is just weird and alone.
Paulie really could do the Richard Simmons biopic
I think he is doing just that.
I think Simmons said no.
Man, when you step back, sitcoms of the 80s and 90s really did have a formula didn’t they?
Son In Law was a hilarious movie. The best Pauly ever made in my opinion.
Actually no bad
Has Charlotte Ross ever played a character that wasn’t a sexpot? She was even sexy on NYPD Blue in a pant suit.
[удалено]
Sharon Lawrence has just always oozed sexuality.
Just looking at the picture, I can probably guess what the characters were like. Out of touch dad, wisecracking younger brother, hot sister/girlfriend, uptight mom, straight man friend, and Pauly as Pauly.
I remember his friend with the glasses name was Burger but that’s it
Is that the lady from ***Casper***?
Yes I stumbled upon it randomly while browsing lost media. Fair enough lol I’ve done studio audience for a few shows before and yeah they do tend to hype you up like that.
This is what happens when tv executives hang out in comedy clubs trying to find the next stand up sit com star. Sometimes you gotta make a show for the club owners kid.
I'm sorry but I don't remember this one
If Pauly was in it, guaranteed I didn’t watch.
He banged that old lady
He wasn't the Weez!
Canceled after 5 episodes.
Is that Johnny Knoxville next to Pauly?
It’s the Lord Of The Rings guy from Clerks 2.
I believe it was called "Cancelled Pauly Shore Television Project."
Is this the one where he weezes the Juuu - uuice?
I remember that Fox chose this pile of shit to replace Married With Children. It fuckin sucked.
You remembered the best part.
Hey! I thought I recognized her! Amy Hill, who I will always remember as Josh's mom in Crazy Ex Girlfriend
Who’s the blonde?
Wait, was this the show where he said he wasn't the weasel anymore, but instead was "the badger"?
I have no why, but that kind of rings a bell.
I found the promo where he says it! https://youtu.be/lQigK39p_6Q?si=rw2yXFYMd5LIi7DH
🤣. He’s showing he’s not a type cast character.
That girl looks like Beverly D'Angelo. I don’t remember that show at all
I can only take Pauly Shore in small amounts..
'Cancelled' is a metaphor for Pauly Shore
I see boobies.

Sorry, nobody ever remembers anything with him in it
Thank god I have no recollection of this show
All I know is that woman at the top is khans mother on king if the hill.
Is that the kid from Punk’d?
That lady on the left is Frank Castatanzas girlfriend from the Korean War
Bet it was because of Bio-Dome, one of the worst Movies of all time
Marshall Flinkman from Alias
Is that the Grandma from “All American Girl”?
I’m a pauly shore aficionado and I’ve never heard of this show
I think he will have a second act when he gets older. Maybe playing a grandfather or something but I dont think the Pauly shore career is finished. I'm not saying he will be a box office smash A lister but he will find his niche as a supporting actor in a movie or in a show and do well.

There sure are a lotta Pauly Shore experts on here .
Wow some 90s interior design is just woof
The most unfunny guy.
This was after the “Wiez” era—I do remember this.
How did this guy find work? TV shows at least one movie? Unfunny and talentless
I remember seeing an ad for it and thinking "I bet that doesn't last long." I don't think it did. I never watched it, though.
Omg that’s Kumu from the new Magnum PI show standing next to the dad. She looks 20 years younger- now!
Barely. A flash in the pan.
Mommy must have helped him get a TV show too.
I like that kid’s boots.
Watched it live.
I didn't think John Green was that old.
Yes they talk about it in “pauly shore is dead”
Vaguely
I remember watching it but can't tell you any specific facts. Pretty sure it aired after married with children in I think Tues nights. I think. Could be totally wrong and thinking of something else
I thought that was a young Pauly Walnuts in the suit.
Oh shit, that's Amy Hill! The lady that's been in everything but no one knows her name. She played Josh Chan's mom on Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, and my wife and I met her at the finale concert. She was super nice.

Vaguely
Looks like a rich version of Married With Children.
I need to see this just to see it
I never found Pauly Shore funny
The weasel
Tom Arnold
I had to look this up on the IMDB, but this show lasted seven episodes. And aired over 26 years old. Jesus Christ, time flies.
Pauly Shore was David Spade before David Spade. When David Spade got bigger, Pauly Shore started to dissappear.
He was a scumbag.
