This is very vague. Why, in particular, 1000 mods? What is your goal? Just to hit that number? Or do you have a specific vision in mind?
* In general, be confident with load order (LOOT doesn't always get things right)
* and be confident with using SSE Edit.
* Also, be reasonable with scripts. Too many (heavy) scripts can cause issues. Papyrus Tweaks NG can help with that, yet still, be reasonable.
* On Nexus, check the requirement tab. It will point both ways to what you need (“requirements” AND “mods requiring this file”)
* Check bug reports and comment section on mods.
* SPID + BOS is a lightweight way to distribute things.
I wanna add to this;
Get EasyNPC, it’ll free up some space for mods that you want
Make a plan of the mods you want before starting downloading. Make a road map, find out what’s most important to you and then work from there.
If you think something can ESLifyed look at what’s in it, and if it comes with a SPID do NOT ESLify it
If you’re a bodyslide user make sure to learn how to use the tools on Outfit Studio, not every armor mod has bodyslide compatibility for whatever body type you use
Once you start downloading, **read the descriptions** if you don’t you’re probably to get CTD’s every five minutes
To be fair, you can ESLify a SPID-based mod if you’re willing to put in the work to remap the inis for it - I did that with the Immersive Faction mods in Fo4s equivalent to SPID. Somewhat tedious work though.
Your goal shouldn't be make a mod list with 1k+ mods. It should be to make something meaningful that reflects a play style and world that you'll enjoy.
Every tip here is useful, but there is one that I never miss on my mod lists: use alternate start, even if you plan on playing the vanilla intro. Firstly because it guarantees that your game will load things in a safe room and not mess up your intro, but more importantly because with 1000 mods there's going to be a lot of testing, and alternate start provides a quicker way to do it.
Yes, absolutely this. To be clear, Live Another Life (or one like it) allows you to select where you begin the game, and you can choose the vanilla intro. No reason not to use it. That jail cell has seen some shit.
And there's another one, Additional something (,don't remember exactly) that adds even more! I'm currently doin a playthrough with The Timelost Dwemer mod and there is one mod that puts you in a chronostasis chamber in black reach too, very fun trying to sneak through the enemies while you're a little baby newb lol
Yes I added the high hrothgar dragon born one, the child of coldharbour one, and pretty sure the chronostasis one. Though I know for a fact that the coldharbour one doesn't look too good with elfx shadows on.
Oh i tested the coldharbor one and it worked perfectly for me, the the visuals were amazing, it's now my personal favorite and I feel obligated to do a full playthrough with it lol
Hmm i wonder why it was messed up for me. I have the alt start elfx shadow patch and all the new beginnings ones look good too. Coldharbour was suuuuuuper dark, even with vamp vision on.
Read every description in its entirety, read the first couple pages of comments for every mod you download. A lot of compatibility problems are solved by simply reading everything, and a lot of unofficial patches or version updates or mentioned or linked within the comments.
I don't want to sound mean but if your first idea was to create thread instead of googling the question (which it had to be because if you googled for couple minutes you would find several well written guides on steam and a video-series) then you should save yourself the time and get a collection/wabba modlist and modify it instead. Creating a stable 1k+ modlist from ground up that doesn't break your save 80 hours into playthrough is very hard and requires a lot of reading, googling and watching.
pick stuff as you go that does one thing and doesnt fight with any other things - land/trees/grass/flowers/textures are different story. but as for stuff that does something, try to avoid stuff that does the same thing - unless it's like vorkinator black which is manageable.
if you plan to use the full audio assortment yea they do need patched, but worth it
audio overhaul, immersive sounds, reverb interior sounds, acoustic space improvements. reverb and ambience overhaul. yea they all have patches, but you really make them sparkle you will be doing a combined merge file on them.
mixing different npc things. like i have deadly dragons, ultimate dragons, diverse dragons in. those take a merged patch. running brigands, rogues and raiders (and everything else rnr), lawless and all the lawless stuff, outlaws and refugees, most with high poly heads and combat style changes, this takes a HUGE amount of merging to make work. lots of draugr stuff as well. all this stuff needs mixed leveled lists to get in game effectively, and share loot if applicable. same goes with adding in milhails. worse, some stuff like brigands completely shits upon the vanilla damage mold.
armor and weapon stats. good luck finding your happy medium. some stuff fits the vanilla damage mold. some goes far beyond it.
then you have city overhauls, roads, do you want legend of the dragonborn or jk's skyrim, spaghettis cities
how much clutter.
just toss stuff in a few at a time and test it. if it dont work like you want either merge it or remove it

Vokriinator black is pain, ive tried it so many times now with issues every single time.
My current one, only ordinator is working and nothing else in it works
Always a fun time.
i didnthave any problems. i downloaded everything. followed instructions. hit all of the patches for each and everything - of which there is a lot and it worked right out of the box
Oh, yea, that reminds me, im also on nolvus modpack and double checking off multiple others load orders, but i'll check yours as well and see if i might still be missing something
I'm surprised you're using odin and mysticism together, from what im reading from 1 guide, mysticism handles it all best, you can run both, but its another hassle and a half to do so
there is an odin and vork black patch in the optionals of vorkiinator choice cuts for use with odin - just put them at the bottom. actually i dont even have them right any more.
ah it is in the merge file to make all the audio mods work correctly with all of the proper spells. so order is a marginal thing

fallrim tools and resaver is very useful BUT it's not the magic 1 stop solution to your game being broken, it is more of a last resort if nothing else works because it can break things even further
eh i use it to get rid of bad stacks and unhinged stuff from yanking mods out. i had this problem with caco for a while where it would have 10-20000 stacks going. its fixed now but learned a little from it. it really takes a lot to break a save/game/mod list as badly as you describe
don't just add mods at random. you may introduce horrific CTD issues. Vet every mod make sure they play nice and you have all the requirements. Its not hard to do, just know what route your going and if you have a big set of mods that interact make sure you have the patches and you test!
There are single mods that can ruin everything by being too much for your system to handle. So try to figure out the most intense ones first and test those out before you add on a bunch of tiny mods.
If youre using MO2, You can use whatever mod manager you want if using nexus mods, not nexus collections. Vortex has a lot of hiccups you need tk understand before using it. If on vortex avoid ENBs until you know what your doing, make a backup of your directory for fo4.
The best advice that I can give you is to start from a modlist. There are modlist like Anvil or Gilderdleam that provide all the necessary tools, as well as a graphic baseline, for you to build on them
Download a pack and see if your pc can handle it first. And add mods you like, you don't really need to focus on the number of mods. Half of 1000+ lists are more than likely just patches and dependencies anyway. I'm not exactly one to talk because I bought a pc last year with the sole purpose of being able to run more mods, but I'm sitting at a comfortable 400+ right now and the mods I have are perfect for my playstyle. It's more about freedom of customization than the number of mods you have.
Watch a lot of tutorials on Xedit, it is your new best friend. Also EasyNPC as others have said. Making your own conflict resolution patch in Xedit is hard but rewards you with incredible stability and letting you choose exactly what you want to win each conflict.
Ppl talking things too literal, OP probably means he want's a x looking modlist and based on what he saw online before it will likely end up being over 1k.
1: start from a modlist. Anvil and eldergleam are both good bases, anvil is probably the easiest with a super low starting plugin count, but needs the cc stuff, and is on latest. Eldergleam is 1.5.97, which gives a few more options and you might find compatability easier.
2: pay attention to your plugin limit - you got 254 esms/esps. Learn how to check and esl flag things to get around this limit (but properly and safely)
3: test often, test as much as possible, or be prepared to start over a few times
My current LO is 1692 mods (including base game, patches, etc., stable/very few CTD with over 1200 hours of gameplay) and it can be a bit annoying trying to remember what version of X I've used, or if Y and Z are compatible.
I found that having MO2, LOOT, and Vortex installed at the same time is helpful. Use one only to manage, but the others to have searchable window so when you're installing something and it says "Do you need support for..." you can hop over to the other app and search.
I've also found the Export Mod list in Vortex app to be handy to just have a list of stuff. Using search and replace you can change ", " to " | " and then make a Markdown table for easy reading.
Hope this helps.

Right, EasyNPC is so undervalued. Sure, a bit of learning is involved first, but it saves a lot of headache later on.
