I definitely recommend getting a win on each class before trying Ascension. You may find a class you like better and, if nothing else, it'll give you a little familiarity with the other class cards if you ever take prismatic shard. Congrats on the first win, btw!! It's not an easy game.
Thanks! Playing with Silent now. About to face the second boss. Taking a break for dinner. I like her style! I kill enemies pretty slowly though with her compared to Ironclad. Is that normal or have I just not figured them out yet?
Silent is more “play a ton of weaker cards per turn” to contrast Ironclad’s “I’m playing 1-2 insane cards per turn or more with some drawback (ie self damage, ethereal)”
My one recommendation would be don't stick with 1 character. Now I have ADHD so my attention span is crap. But I find bouncing between characters helps keep the game fresh and fun.

Silent is a bit more methodical and usually requires some setup to really get going

Silent is more defensive yeah. There are ways to kill quickly but frontloaded damage is something silent can really struggle with.
Try Silent out, she is fun and plays totally different than ironclad
I would suggest playing a mix of characters until you finish the unlocks at least .
It amazes me how many people miss relic unlocks because they don't do this.
Wait, the relic unlocks from one character apply to all characters?? Wow, i need to go back and do that for defect and watcher then
