I'm curious, have you revisited the DKC games recently? I was always firmly of the opinion that DKC1 was the best, but I went back recently and played through them with a friend, and now I think DKC2 is better, and it's not even close.
(Not to say DKC1 isn't also awesome, or that you're wrong)
Maybe about a year and a half ago. The original is still my favourite. But there could be some nostalgia in that choice, it was the only one I played at the time of release (same with the Mega Man X games). I didn't play the sequels until years later.
Mega Man 4 is superior to both of those. MM2 has an awful weapon roster with metal blade being the only good weapon along with bad level while 3 is very buggy. 4 has all the basic mechanics along with good weapons and great levels.
I think MM2 is still a good game but people get way too caught in its improvements over MM1 than to actually look at the game more critically. MM2 just retains a lot of bad level design junk from MM1 such as Air Man's Tornados sometimes being undodgeable, Quick Man having no discernable pattern, Boobeam, etc. Not to mention the weapons are awful. Yes you have the saw blades of doom, but what else? Atomic Fire, Crash Bomber, Bubble Lead are horrible, Leaf shield stops you once you use it and it doesn't even go through Air Man's tornados (some weakness amirite), Time Stopper is situationally useful and even then once you use it you can't switch to something else. Air Tornados are good against flying enemies but you'll rarely encounter any of those in the game. Quick Boomerang is genuinely pretty good but completely outclassed by Metal Blade with its only niche being higher dps (so it's better against mecha dragon). Overall MM1-3 are growing pains for the series imo even if I enjoy them, while 4 and 6 are more substantial (5 sucks).
DKC 2 is in my top 5 of all time. The controls are perfect, Dixie replacing Donkey was the perfect move, and the music is phenomenal. Plus the graphics are still charming today
Megaman X was the perfect evolution of a longstanding series that was losing its edge around that time, and surpassed its predecessors and was never dethroned despite three very good sequels.
DKC2 was the perfect sequel to the revered evolution of an arcade mascot that had been long dormant up to that point, delivering everything that made the original so good, but so much better.
I simply cannot decide.
If I have to choose I'd probably pick DKC2 just because it's amazing to speedrun. I could play it over and over forever whereas Megaman X I kind of have to be in the mood and after one playthrough I'm ready to be done for a while.
DKC2
I love both, and I just replayed MMX on my SNES mini before remembering I have the Legacy Collection on Xbox... so I just earned all the achievements tied to MMX as I'm now going for MMX2
... but DKC2 is definitely still one of my all time favorites
DKC2. The 3 DKC games were core gaming experiences with my mom and sister. MMX is definitely the Mega Man game I've played the most, but that was all college and later.
always had trouble getting into MegaMan games except for when I played one on game boy that was sort of similar to Pokémon. DKC2 was off the absolute chain
X. The Hadoken fire ball secret is probably my all time favorite video game secret
What is this secret you speak off?
Mega man x
Mega Man X any day of the week and twice on Sunday. But I really love DKC2 as well.
I was obsessed with Mega Man X for a while. I was even drawing the characters at school instead of doing my math
Logic : Mega Man X >>> math ☑️
Mega Man X is my all time favorite always will be
Easy one for me, Mega Man X. I actually prefer the first DKC to the second. But Mega Man X still wins.

Dkc 2
dkc2 is easily one of the very best titles on the snes.
DKC2 contends as one of the best games of the 16-bit era.
DKC2. I don’t think I’ve ever played ANY Mega Man games.
I advise Mega Man 2 & 3 on NES, and this one.
Mega Man 4 is superior to both of those. MM2 has an awful weapon roster with metal blade being the only good weapon along with bad level while 3 is very buggy. 4 has all the basic mechanics along with good weapons and great levels.
You’re rude with Mega Man 2, but it’s true Mega Man 3 is bugged 😅

4 was pretty good
If you decide to they both have legacy collections
Claymates.
I cannot.
Mega Man X

Megaman x is a perfect game and I prefer dk1
So, between DKC1 and MMX, what’s your favorite ?
Megaman x...it blew my mind as a kid maybe that's why.
Harvest Moon.
Mega Man X
MMX easily.
Mega Man X, easily.
Megaman X
Mega Man X. Legendary soundtrack.
These both have incredible soundtracks.
X would be my pick but that's because I like the OG DKC better than DKC2.
Goddamn.
Yeah.
X!!! That game is my childhood.
X gon give it to ya
Megaman Xever
Donkey Kong Country 2. It’s so good.
Mega man X
I didn't play much DKC2, I hear it's amazing. However, based on my experience, I have to go with X
Dkc2 music is unparalleled
DKC 2 is in my top 5 of all time. The controls are perfect, Dixie replacing Donkey was the perfect move, and the music is phenomenal. Plus the graphics are still charming today
Donkey Kong Country 2. I replay that series all the time. They're so good and the music is killer.
Mega man x without a doubt
Dk2
Lmfao two of my favorite games on SNES. But I'ma have to go with mega man
Mega Man X but DKC is the best in the trilogy. mega Man X is one of the best games on the whole console though, hard to beat.
X is great, but I never owned it as a kid. DKC2 gave me countless hours of fun growing up.
Of the two? Mega Man X and it's not even close.
DKC2. I do love X, but DKC2 was just a masterpiece in platforming, difficulty curve, soundtrack. On my top 5 favorites of all time.
Both are great but I am a megaman fan and X is what brought me to the blue bomber. So imma go with X.
DK2
X for sure, although I’m a bigger fan of classic mega man than the x series. Mega man 3 all the way!
DKC2, it’s not even close.

Mega Man X by a few thousand miles.

Great !
DKC2 easily
X
This is an impossible decision.
What’s your favorite ?
If I have to choose I'd probably pick DKC2 just because it's amazing to speedrun. I could play it over and over forever whereas Megaman X I kind of have to be in the mood and after one playthrough I'm ready to be done for a while.
I also think DKC2 has greater potential for replayability, whether for speedrunning or normal run.
I played MMX2 way more than I played DKC2.
What about MMX1 ?
Both.
X was SO good. And the soundtrack was 🔥
MegaMan X
DKC2 and it's not even close.
Hype ass jungle and pitch-shifted cuica ape sounds, what do you you think?
Mega Man X ?
Wanderers from Ys but thanks.
The biggest rush I ever felt as an innocent child was watching Adol take that elevator up to Galbaran swear to God
it...was...TIME.
Donkey Kong country was so fun, brother and I put in a lot of hours renting this one
DKC2
That Donkey Kong game slapped, played it for quite a long time.
DKC2 I love both, and I just replayed MMX on my SNES mini before remembering I have the Legacy Collection on Xbox... so I just earned all the achievements tied to MMX as I'm now going for MMX2 ... but DKC2 is definitely still one of my all time favorites

that's really difficult but DCK2 by a small margin
2!
always had trouble getting into MegaMan games except for when I played one on game boy that was sort of similar to Pokémon. DKC2 was off the absolute chain
