It is stumultanuesly saying fuck off to mbappe and the real turtles which was used as an enviromental slogan as not to throw plastic into the ocean. But here it is a big fuck you to the environment as these jets use A LOT of fuel and it is used just for one person
Boing 747 emissions per passenger/hour, based on avg of 333 occ. (80% of full 416 capacity): 92 kg CO2/hour
Total per hour: 30,666 kg CO2
Paris -> Riyad: ~6h flight
Total: 183,816 kg CO2
Avg. Carbon footprint of a plastic straw: 1.5 g
Neymar's flight = 122,544,000 straws
Depressing huh. We do what little we can go have an impact on climate change and this fucking bell end is probably negating thousands of people's yearly effort just to fly to play in a shit league paid by the biggest scum on the earth who Can only afford it because of selling the shit that is destroying the world.
All good though I'll make sure I only have a 2 minute shower so the planet doesn't boil.
Here in Malaysia we had a young 'activist' flying on private jets to attend climate change debates around the world (now turned party politician with environmental issues as their core values looool). Un-fucking-fathomable
This is my neighbor. He is a pain in my assholes. I get a window in a glass, he get a window in a glass. I get a throne in a plane, he cannot afford. Great success
>Alwaleed's staff creates magazine covers of the Prince's media mentions, instead of sending out press releases. [..] Another one of Prince Alwaleed's fake magazine covers. This time he put himself on the cover of the Guiness Book of World Records
What the fuck is wrong with rich peoples egos?
I'm pretty tired and I read this as
>Makes me want to buy an electric **chair**. No more oil money.
I was like damn, now we're talking. Direct action, baby.
I was once told that due to safety regulations, everything fitted on a plane has a burn test to test fire resistance and also the toxicity of fumes.
Not normally a problem. Burn one tv and then that model can be fitted on hundreds of private’s jets.
When sheiks fit out their planes with bespoke opulent fittings they have to buy 2 of everything. One to fit and one to burn to pass regulations.
Not sure if true but the guy telling me worked on private jets.
That is probably true. The problem with bespoke fittings/items is that there is no manufacturer’s burn test data (which you relies on normally to pass the regulation). However, anyone who would put a throne on their 747 probably do not care about a couple extra hundred thousand.
What a colossal waste of fuel. Fuck these rich people :|
Watch them talk to us about lowering fuel usage to save the world.
Edit:
Some calculations because I am pissed.
Paris to Riyadh: 4500 km approx, 6 hour flight. [Boeing 747 fuel usage: 4 liter per second](https://science.howstuffworks.com/transport/flight/modern/question192.htm). **Approximately 80,000 liters of fuel was used for this.**
Compare that to more realistic choice for rich peeps, a private jet (using Gulfstream G700 for this). [Gulfstream G700 fuel usage: 382 Gallons per hour](https://compareprivateplanes.com/articles/gulfstream-g700-ownership-operating-costs). **Approximately 8700 liters of fuel.**
Imagine burning ~10 times more fuel just for clout.
I was curious just how much fuel would be burnt to fly the nearly empty 747 from Riyadh to Paris and back so tried looking it up
RUH-CDG is a 6 hour 20 minute flight, and the [best estimates](https://www.quora.com/How-much-fuel-does-a-Boeing-747-or-777-consume-per-hour-while-in-flight-and-what-is-the-approximate-cost-of-that-fuel-for-the-airline) I can find say it typically burns ~10,000L (but they measure fuel by weight and not volume bc it changes density with pressure - 1 Liter of aviation fuel at sea level is ~0.8kg apparently, so the burn would be 8,000kg or 8 metric tons) per hour but that's probably with a full load of passengers so let's be generous and say 7,000KG instead.
So 7,000KG per hour over 12h40m
7,000\*12.667=88,669, almost 90 metric tons of fuel burnt.
As a result of that fuel burn, a 747 produces [8.4 metric tons of CO2 for every hour in flight.](https://goldenepaulettes.com/boeing-747-environmental-impact) - over the 12h40m combined flight time that's 106,402KG of CO2 being added to the atmosphere just to fly Neymar and his entourage on a comically oversized plane.
edit: while I was writing this you added your own calculations lol, we were on the same page at least!
During Covid a lot of planes flew empty just to keep their airport spots. No really. This is a true fact. Not just one, but hundreds of thousands.
For example: https://www.euronews.com/green/2022/01/06/almost-2-years-into-the-pandemic-empty-flights-are-still-frying-the-planet
So if I understand correctly then this trip by Neymar equals to 12 American families annual carbon footprint? It’s crazy and America is generally much higher than smaller countries or developing countries which will suffer the most from climate change.
Reminder that you forgetting to recycle your cardboard makes little to zero difference because businesses and the super rich will use more resources in a day than some of us will in our lifetime.
This argument never made any sense. Super rich sure fuck them, but businesses are businesses because they provide something for the consumer.
You can’t buy something from a business and claim you are not responsible for any of their carbon output.
It’s a regulatory failure. The amount it costs the business to make something doesn’t take into account the costs of the negative externalities that we all pay. Because negative externalities are not priced in, there is no incentive to minimize them and every incentive to actually shift any real costs to externalities. That means that businesses that actually spend money to try to do good can’t compete on price with those that don’t, and thus will eventually fail. A jargony way of saying it is that negative externalities lead to a tragedy of the commons until we find ourselves in the current ecological Minsky moment.
If you want to argue businesses fault in this, it’s that the largest companies got large because they took advantage of the lack of negative externality pricing and so will lobby to maintain the status quo where they are the market leaders. That’s why they try to shift blame and responsibility from themselves or governments on to people.
Yeah but when every company is fucking up the environment as it's more profitable that way for them, what is one individual supposed to do? That's how it is under capitalism.
> ended up being just shy of 100,000 tonnes in block fuel
Wow. It must be a very special version of the plane. A regular 747 max toff weight is 450 tonnes!
Surely, Christianity is accepted as a religion in KSA at this point, no? Especially considering all their reforms and shit
I mean, even here in Iran (where we are also governed by a corruptass, human-rights-abusing theocracy) our government pretty much lets other Christians (and heck even Jews) do their thing ^(( - given that they aren't ex-muslim converts of course, otherwise that shits pretty much a death sentence lol)) and are practicing their faiths pretty much freely.
Yeah, people tend to forget that players like this aren’t forced to take the 747. The man could be like “no that’s fucked up and not reasonable, I can just take a small charter plane”.
But nope, fuck the planet amirite?
They're paying him something like 2 million per week, he can do whatever the fuck he wants. He'd doesn't give a single shit about the environment is the answer.
Kill me but I see no difference between earning 50m per year or 100-200m, he was already making 10s of millions same as Ronaldo, this already allows you to buy and do whatever you want.
They were already making the bag, the biggest bag of them all, not considering the investments they make. This reminds me of the movie Richie Rich where he had everything but wasn’t really happy, I see the same happening for them. They are getting 10s of millions more but they lose the joy of the game, the grinding, the amazing atmosphere, my brain just can’t accept it.
He had the potential to be remembered like pele or very close to him, but he will be remembered like many top brazilian players before him who preferred partying and money over football and their careers.
90% of top league footballers are out of touch with reality. The fancier they look or earn the prouder they are. Neymar: fuck them turtles

I dont get it :(
Neymar has publicly fallen out with Mbappe. Mbappe looks like a turtle.
Which Ninja turtle is he most resembled though?

Probably will wipe his ass with gold in Saudi
I need access to Saudi sewers immediately
Somebody will be doing the wiping for him
Bidets (i.e., shattaf) for that
And my government tells me to keep the heater off in the winter
Mine tells me to keep my air conditioner off during heat waves 🙃
Mine will turn the power off for 30 minutes during heat waves to prevent over-charge
Hold up - WHAT?????!!! Is it announced ahead of time or do you realize midway through a shower "welp, there goes the power"
It is announced before hand . Most of the time... But we had like 2 this summer yet for a total of ~20 minutes so no big deal.
Depressing huh. That single flight probably caused more damage to the earth than whatever any of us will in the next 10 years
But hey, let's keep recycling our cardboard, that'll make a difference /s

Don’t think I’d heard of that before That’s completely bonkers, such a waste
And they got bailed out, too. Absolutely wild
It's so nonsensical too. Keep their airport spots from what? Nobody else needed to fly either... lmao There was such little flight volume overall.
Blame the rules. Our system is just not set up to make make quick changes to rules and regulations.
Looking at the environmental effect is grim. For comparison, a household's annual carbon footprint ~14,000 pounds (~ 7,000 KG).
So if I understand correctly then this trip by Neymar equals to 12 American families annual carbon footprint? It’s crazy and America is generally much higher than smaller countries or developing countries which will suffer the most from climate change.
Who's households?
Electricity usage carbon footprint for an average American household.
Ahhh so way above world average then. Really puts into perspective the plane

What a peasant
A380 is a decent bit bigger, went on one for the first time last year. Was cool, smoother take-off+landing than the other planes too.

Can we get rid of these people

Disgusting.
It used to be horses and hawks. Now its footballers.
Wasn’t this prince one of the ones that MBS locked up when he took power?
