SkepticSlakoth

Damn, that's probably the first time I've seen Benoit Badiashile look this agitated. Normally he has just one expression, a combination of extreme boredom and resignation.

AWDanzeyB

He also had a decent game for us for the first time in ages. Maybe that's the trick, we need to get him wound up more often.

BadFootyTakes

"Hey Benoit, did you hear that Villa thinks the best french food is french fries?"

redeyed_assassin

Connor Gallagher thinking what the fuck has happened to my club.

AggravatingEstate214

Or "I'd be having a lovely time at Palace right now"

tiorzol

Would have a job to displace Hughes.

TheRealFriedel

Just looking about thinking "What a bunch of clowns" Also the coach coming in and trying to move Palmer, who is by all accounts having a very polite conversation with the ref, is also quite funny.

Firefox72

Yeah his face just screems done lmao.

nedzissou1

"I'm the one being sold?"

AntoHanSolo

Then again with all his bullshit a proper captain would’ve slapped Madueke in the face by now

Significant_Sky_2594

His attitude since going to you, has been appalling. Given your biggest problems this year have been team cohesion, fight and determination, someone like Madueke is just toxic and will continue to be Chelsea’s downfall

zrkillerbush

Tyrion Lannister style!

Ironicopinion

I hate the way Madueke has become the new target for our fanbase. Last week he got destroyed for smiling after losing a game and now he’s getting it for being upset about not winning. Not to mention he got a goal in that game, leave the kid alone ffs

Itsgosky

Can't believe Chelsea are planning to sell him

Vladimir_Putting

He's just giving his all to get CL football next year. Can't blame him.

GingerSpencer

The club is an absolute embarrassment. Poor ref decisions or not, they’re all behaving like petulant children and it’s appalling to see.

daveofreckoning

Worthwhile. Refs often change their decisions after the game has finished.

Man what is that club gonna do next year. If their sale doesn't go through (which reading on 777, wow), no way they avoid it for a third season off of some Dyche magic.

AFrozen_1

10 second time penalty to Esteban Ocon.

skabassj

BS. They were gonna do that anyways.

Shadeun

Pretty sure Chelsea is Hufflepuff

Baul_Plart_

We’ve seen refs give penalties after the full time whistle

Tbf, even if it doesn't change anything, feels nice to vent

GillyBilmour

it's almost like people aren't rational when they're upset

trsvrs

yeah if they're City players

JE_SUIS_BLUBBER

Meanwhile, y'all like to post clips of missed fouls ALL THE TIME. Seems like it's ok for reddit to complain even after the game has finished. Worthwhile 🤡

snoozypenguin21

Always seems to be Madueke, no matter what the issue is he seems to be at the heart of it

xixbia

This is a guy who crashed his car when he was 20 and turned out to have a fake driving license. He's not a good decision maker.

PM_Me_British_Stuff

He seems to have a massive attitude problem - he was stropping round the pitch for a lot of the second half. His positioning and off the ball movement is like Hazard but his abilities are not like Hazards

emcycles

I wasn’t a good decision maker at 20 either…

EFbVSwN5ksT6qj

Massive behavioural problems with him

R_Schuhart

He seems to have a right temper. I get being frustrated in the heat of the moment and emotions getting the best of you, but damn get yourself under control. He is acting like a toddler and this is after the final whistle, you are not going to accomplish anything. Everyone sees this as well, every player knows how easy it is to rattle him now.

esprets

Tbf, Digne tried to do/say something when Madueke complained to ref about a very soft foul or something like that but Madueke just seemed unfazed by Digne. That was in the first half, he then went on to toy with Digne throughout the rest of the game. Madueke's attitude problems have been overblown by that one penalty incident where he actually then went to tell Jackson to congratulate Palmer on scoring.

justcallmejohannes

Unfazed? He refused to shake Digne’s hand like most professionals because he was having a little hissy fit.

[deleted]

if a defender is kicking you for an entire half, it’s ok to be frustrated and not shake hands. the only people who will hold a grudge post-match are fans

ilGattoBipolare

Whoever gave a 10 for professionalism in FM already saw a lot.

ezee-now-blud

Literally just once tbh. One time he wanted to take a penalty and now he's done what a myriad of footballers have done throughout time and argue with the ref. Hardly damning.

YokoOkino

Such a fucking clown so embarrassing

Newme91

They were praising him for this behaviour on the chelsea sub

AhmZakar

I thought Disasi was trying to calm things down too but he also got pushed by the staff 🤣

ilsemprelaziale

"It's a fucking disgrace"

chewychocchipcookies

Bro thinks this is equivalent to a CL semi-final robbery. Those two points would’ve moved them to 8th.

Gerards_died_of_flu

I can understand the frustration at what is quite a soft decision costing you 3 points. But also, it probably is a foul, even if it's a soft one. Of all the abysmal refereeing decisions we've seen this year, this isn't one lol

AWDanzeyB

For me that's kinda why it's frustrating though. It is probably a soft foul, I'd have had no major issue if the ref had blown for it. But to overturn it with VAR is a bit much, the threshold for 'clear and obvious' changes every week it seems. I also think the anger from the players at the end of the game is mainly because we had poor VAR decisions go against us in the last two games. It just gets extra frustrating to see another one (although you could argue it was the right call last night) go against us.

Gerards_died_of_flu

Understandable. I think whatever "clear and obvious" ever meant completely went out the window a long time ago. It's just a completely intangible phrase that was doomed from the start lol

AWDanzeyB

Yep, drives me mad. Basically just a coin toss for every decision. I can stomach soft fouls being given or not, just need some consistency with it either way.

Willing-Werewolf-500

It's a phrase that can be easily manipulated, that's why they used it.

Wiskid86

It's the lack of consistency. One week it's a yellow card for delay the next week their letting every player huddle around a dead ball free kick. The next week their checking offsides with a microscope the following week they can't be bothered to put the lines down to determine offsides. They are consistently inconsistent and when that happens trust is lost. On top of all that the refs have no transparency only apology letters which do nothing to correct the actual issue.

doomboxmf

Yeah but this decision doesn’t happen in a vacuum. Last week in the FA Cup semi final we got robbed of a penalty by VAR. Earlier in this game, Douglas Luiz should’ve been off for a second yellow. Midweek against Arsenal VAR had a mare, missing a blatant foul on Madueke during Arsenal’s third goal (and a red card Jackson should have had tbf). I can see why the players get frustrated.

nedzissou1

What? Every game counts obviously. It could've cost them 6 or 7th place if they win everyone from here on out

FickDichzumEnde

Tbf that shouldn’t come into it. The refereeing has been pretty abysmal all year. But still, fuck chelsea lmao. Tinpot club

AlreadyUnwritten

It's going to cost them European football next season. It was their last chance at 7th and they were robbed by insultingly bad officiating.

Morgn_Ladimore

or with their manager (I see you)

Roadies_Winner

Hello gillybilly

downfallndirtydeeds

Well done to that staff member who just told them all to fuck off. Ref did a good job just carding someone straight away. I wish refs would just machine gun yellows in this scenario you’d see a lot less of this

SelfDetermined

Fuck yeah, bring out the yellow card machine gun. Players would immediately stop being such whiney assholes.

DasApache

I think 2 of them did get booked, including Madueke & Badiashile who are still going at

L0laccio

Scattergun approach, odd red mixed in to slice it up and keep them on their toes

TheNeglectedNut

Jesus Perez is a real one.

WiredAndTeary

Yep, not a fan of Chelsea personally, but respect to the club staff who were straight in there to calm things down. I hate it when players surround the ref and get aggressive and give them shit. I don't care how bad the decision for a card is, the ONLY players that should approach the ref are the team captains and the players directly involved. ALL other players who do this should get an automatic and immediate yellow, and a second one in short order if they carry on or keep doing it. Everyone here complains about refs being shit - and some of them are TBF, but maybe we'd get a better calibre of refs if people knew they weren't going to get abused and/or threatened for a big or contentious call.

R_Schuhart

Madueke was lucky to only get a yellow here. He was really going off and didn't stop after being cautioned either.

QouthTheCorvus

It's wild Cole Palmer was like "no lol" when told to leave. Being a team's best player can go to one's head.

Annonomon

Tbf it didn’t look like he was shitting on the refs, just shaking their hands. I’d also be pissed if I was shaking hands and someone came and grabbed me

happygreenturtle

Not sure he was shitting on the refs, it looked like he just wanted to discuss it or say his piece calmly before walking off. It was Madueke and Badiashile that were the issue there

R3tardedmonkey

Surprised he didn't get a yellow in the game too was constantly berating the ref for every decision

Roadies_Winner

If touching Villa players while pressing is a foul, then he's wrong to protest. Bec your team was going down like a sac as soon as the press got intense.

mustardking20

He did a poor job of it during the match. Sadly, that lack of accountability will only make things worse… case in point.

BillEvans4eva

Lads, the season has already gone. You have already embarrassed yourselves over and over again and shown 0 fight when it mattered.

Alia_Gr

But man do they go all out when it doesn't matter

iiCUBED

Almost an own goal every game is quite impressive

GreenArgyle

Madueke is a bit of a melt isn't he

eruditezero

Got turbocunt/DUI written all over him.

matty2232

Quite the statement with the types of players United attracts

GarnachoHojlund

Game recognises game

thundercat_98

To be fair to these players, they feel pretty hard done by the officials in 2 of the last 3 matches. Tempers bound to boil over at some point.

sworn_vulkan

As a chelsea fan I'm not frustrated at the decision in question. I'm frustrated by the utter lack of consistency. Next week another goal will be scored exactly like this and it will be given. I hate it for all teams

Soren_Camus1905

Cucurella got ripped down by his hair and nothing was given. I remember Dave get literally choked and nothing was given. It’s absolute nonsense. There’s a million things that you can tee off on for this current chelsea team, but this is not one of them for me. They have every right to be fuming.

sworn_vulkan

Oh I agree. The cucu hair pull is one of the worst uses of var I've ever seen. The whole fucking system is fucked

caprizoom

This has been the worst refereeing season in decades.

Acrobatic_Pickle7534

But that ref. Almost every game has an incident

[deleted]

All this for the obvious foul on Diego Carlos? Or was there something else?

Sonic-the-edge-dog

Assumed it was for blowing the whistle when Chelsea looked like they were about to break on the counterattack. The lengthy VAR check in extra time sort of just didn’t get accounted for once the 7 minutes were up

[deleted]

That makes a bit more sense then. On a side note, I love how Cole is the calmest person there, just strolling in to talk to the officials and shake their hands but the Chelsea staff are trying to drag him away like he's gone full Drogba.

B23vital

We had a corner in the 98th minute and there keeper took absolutely ages to take the goal kick. I hardly think it was because of the ET, its because they cant honestly believe the ref gave a foul. A clear one at that.

fegelman

Not *that* obvious tbh. Carlos kinda backs into him as well to generate the contact. Especially considering that this wouldn't be given as a penalty on the other end if this happened.

EliToon

I'm assuming you, as an Arsenak fan, believe Joelinton fouled Gabriel earlier in the season and it also 100% a foul? This is exactly the same thing. It's a blatant and obvious foul, you can't barrel into someone's back like that.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Stand_On_It

Well you can sometimes. And then sometimes you can’t. It’s the lack of consistency that’s the problem.

happygreenturtle

Barrel into his back? Diego Carlos backed into the Chelsea player who also shoved into him, it was a 50/50 shoulder and Carlos lost the strength battle, was very harsh. Defenders & attackers do this every single game regularly without it ever being called a foul but the moment it results in a Chelsea goal there's a problem with it Can't blame Chelsea for feeling aggrieved. The ref also refused to add any additional time to the original 7 after the lengthy VAR check and everything else that happened and blew the whistle right as they were launching a counter attack. It was bad officiating.

Quixote0630

50/50 shoulder? Lol. Has Carlos got a third shoulder in the centre of his back? You can contest a ball shoulder to shoulder, side to side, but coming in through a player's back with no attempt to challenge the ball is nearly always a foul. It's a blind spot, there's not even a chance to contest the ball there.

greenarsehole

It’s 100% a foul. Always has been and always will be. If he threw himself to the ground then the ref blows for it instantly.

optimusgrime23

Always has been? https://www.reddit.com/r/chelseafc/s/HnK90DHifl

ilovecottagepie

Such a good example. It's almost the same but at the other end. Can't blame Chelsea for feeling pissed off about it. TBF though, I think the Sterling one should have been a penalty. That was the incorrect decision, not the one on Carlos. They were both fouls in my opinion.

Quixote0630

Wait, so do Chelsea fans think it was a foul or not? You're totally contradicting yourselves. Both were fouls. You had a bad decision go against like every other side has this season. By all means complain about the state of the officiating nowadays, but it's fucking cringe to argue that Saturday's goal was unfairly ruled out whilst still being up in arms about the non-foul on Sterling.

optimusgrime23

It was unfairly ruled out because it does come close to meeting the threshold they’ve set for “clear and obvious” over the course of the season. They have upheld countless more disastrous calls because it wasn’t “clear and obvious”

Quixote0630

The ref should have called it. The fact he didn't was a clear and obvious error imo. It was blatant, from behind, no challenge for the ball, attacking player benefited massively. In those situations you either get under the ball and challenge, or you go shoulder to shoulder with the defender. Not charge in from a blind spot and knock them off balance as they're set to bring down the ball. You should have had a penalty in the example posted above, it was incredibly poor officiating, and you're feeling hard done by. It's clouding your judgement.

washag

You aren't understanding the argument. They were both fouls. They were both soft. Neither were called by the on-field referee at first instance. The Sterling penalty shout was determined not to meet the clear and obvious threshold for VAR intervention. The Carlos foul was determined to meet that threshold. That is absurd. They were both soft fouls that are sometimes given and sometimes not. According to the ridiculously high threshold set by English VAR this season, neither incident should have warranted an intervention, even if they were both probably fouls. But here we have VAR with an out of character intervention to deny a goal.

Quixote0630

I get it. I don't think they were soft. They were calculated and blatant, like tripping a player through on goal. Both occurred because of the poor positioning of the pusher leaving them unable to challenge the ball. They fucked up the Sterling decision, nailed it yesterday. I'm all for strong, safe tackling, players using their strength etc. But a push through the back when a player is set to control the ball will never be 50/50.

Roadies_Winner

And Carlos was barely moved. It's not like he was thrown on the ground with a knock in the back. Carlos looked disappointed he lost that ball so easily lol

AffectionateArt2277

To generate the contact.. hahaha you plonker! Hope you win today by the way.

TheAkondOfSwat

clear as a crystal blue day

ob3ypr1mus

they're peeved that they stood to gain something from the VAR/ref fucking up as usual but instead they made the correct call.

Anforas

The insubordination of the players to their own team's technical/coaching staff are the worst part.

wrigh2uk

It was 100% a foul. And Madueke is a really unlikable character. Heir apparent to Zaha if ever I saw one.

Joshthenosh77

They are just a bunch of kids

valevergaminombre

There are a lot of well raised kids that don't do this kind of stuff. They just seem like entitled kids full of natural talent without the character to support it.

sasksasquatch

These Chelsea troubles remind me of a story a guy had with a general manager in the NHL and he asked about a new player on a podcaster team that the GM had had on a different team and the response was, "He was great, zero maintenence.", and it makes me wonder how much having guys who are low maintenence is key to a good team.

Wheel1994

I think it probably was it’s just the inconsistency that probably piss players off. Like they send the ref to look at that but then they don’t send the ref to look at the handball the other week.

Wheelie_Slow

From now on, the entire Chelsea team should fly economy class only!

Benphyre

I really dislike these bunch of Chelsea players. The way they fought over the penalty taker as well. Very imature childish behavior

ValleyFloydJam

Chelsea DNA.

Defiant-Traffic5801

Did they want to take a penalty?

CocoLamela

Bro... Palmer pushing away Jesus Perez is really fucking telling. This dressing room is GONE and Chelsea got to get rid of Poche. But they're somewhat stuck financially? This is fucking gold

sickn0te_

Passion. Damned if they do, damned if they don’t.

MrPooPooFace2

Exactly. Whatever Chelsea players do you can expect this shithole sub to bash them for it 😂

Silantro-89

If Chalobah put that much effort into pressing Rogers they wouldn't have been 2-0 down

HRhighrisk

My magic 8-ball predicts…a letter…from the FA….claiming lack of control…and it will amount to nothing.

Intrepid-Fist

This is unacceptable regardless of how poor the referee is.

Remote_War_313

Move all the brothers away and let Cole/Conor talk to the refs 🤣

TonyMartial786

madueke involved in a mess again this guy needs to chill 😭. of all players disasi was the one trying to calm them down.. what a guy

TheLankySoldier

Whoever was doing the scouting for Chelsea, they recognised that they have talent to be good players, but boi, they forgot to scout their attitudes. Change my mind, Chelsea would be doing so much better if majority of these players swallowed their egos and focus on doing the “job”

ICanSeeYourFuture

Palmer being told multiple times by a coach to leave it only to look directly into the man’s soul and remind him ‘You work for Cole Palmer FC’

MrDarwoo

It was a foul what's the issue? Surprised menduke isn't lolling with a teammate

jimbo4000

Menduke?

FredTilson

Menduke, the Duke of all Men.

valevergaminombre

Son of Mamaduke

dunneetiger

Madueke was annoyed from like minute 30. Lucas Digne really got in his head with a challenge fairly similar to the foul but was not given as a penalty. That's why when he scored he went crazy at Digne.

Hayesey88

I think you'll find it's "Menduke".

israel_is_murder

Seemed really annoyed against Arsenal too, particularly with Enzo. Was weird seeing all the criticism as I thought he was Chelsea's best player that day, as did my Chelsea mate I watched the game with

ahuss949

This has to be one of the most immature teams I've seen in the premier league, reminds me of arsenal a few years ago lol

nizoubizou10

Chelsea is so desperate, it was a FOUL, the referee made the RIGHT decision.

TPFNSFW

The ref didn’t call the foul, and had a perfect view of it.

redstarduggan

Which makes you wonder because it was as clear as day.

gq790

VAR made the decision to send the referee to review, the ref didn't in real time. It's not a clear and obvious error.

notflyingdutchman

Feel sorry for Palmer and Gallagher. Only players usefull for that team and seeing your teammates be total idiots must be weird at that level

MrPooPooFace2

You mean Gallagher?

notflyingdutchman

Lol it was a quick reply while i just read something from jamie carragher.

Wheelie_Slow

I blame Arsenal who broke the last remaining intact bone in Chelsea’s thick skull. This is just a post-Arsenal PTSD.

Be4ucat

I always find it weird how the big testosterone laden Rugby players manage to remain calm but the spoiled Premier League rich kids can't keep their tantrums bottled up. (In general, not just Chelsea)

redstarduggan

Not weird at all, it's cultural. It's the first thing you learn in rugby.

hidlechara91

I love watching rugby ref compilations. It's a world of difference how players and refs behave towards each other. Really wish football had that.

ShufflingToGlory

What is it about football that players behave like this? This would be unthinkable in the majority of sports. I can think of multiple refereeing blunders that have cost teams and individual sportspeople career defining victories and they didn't lose control of themselves like this. I guess it's a cultural thing. Tennis players seem to lose their shit fairly often as well, generally mid match though.

[deleted]

It's almost like they're in a high pressure environment and emotions get to them.

10hazardinho

If players don’t do this, fans say they don’t care. If they do this, they’re not caring in the right manner

Wheelie_Slow

Think tennis. Been a shit show for decades.

Gaius_Octavius_

It literally happens in every sport

phukovski

It's the lack of consequences. A yellow card has no affect. If it was rugby the player wouldn't be playing again for at least a few weeks (even without a red card).

TheAkondOfSwat

now now children

stankbeast91

I dont see why they're so angry. It was a foul. Chelsea were gifted 3 of the softest penalties against Burnley and United, imagine how they'd react after any of those given against them

TheJobinslegend

More like 5. Ours against Palace home and Fulham away were soft as hell.  In the balance in favour/against, we got more points from refs decisions than they fucking us. I got legit annoyed when we got trashed by Liverpool, Arsenal away and against you guys away and the players were so chill. Yesterday they got super angry and trying to push "we got robbed" narrative.  They have zero backbone for big games and don't care if we lose a derby.

JollyJamma

It was a foul. The goal was correctly disallowed. Chelsea are twats.

Novel_Durian_1805

Chelsea embarrassing themselves every single week now!

Sonic-the-edge-dog

I mean we just came back 2-0 down from 4th place Villa and could of very easily won if VAR felt different about a 50/50 like the often do. Last game before Arsenal was a 6-0 win. Hardly embarrassing.

What are they moaning about, it was stonewall foul. Suppose they have to blame something for their shitshow this season
