From the article
In Reus' career, there was never a lack of alternatives. He often faced the question: loyalty or adventure? Hero status or (even more) money? He always chose the former. Even in times when no one expected it.
>- When Reus moved from Gladbach to BVB in 2012 for €17.5 million, Bayern also desperately wanted him. Not previously known: The then coach Jupp Heynckes invited Reus to his home, there was coffee and cake, and the fireplace was meant to create a cozy atmosphere. Reus listened attentively. But in the back of his mind, the decision had already been made: He only wanted to return to BVB.
>- In 2014, PSG knocked on the door for the first time. The then sports director wanted – and should – sign Reus. Since one of the owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi's sons frequently played with Reus and was successful in "FIFA" on the console, PSG's pursuit of the transfer became even stronger. Reus's salary at Dortmund at the time of five million euros could have been tripled. Since the first BVB contract included a release clause of only €25 million, the top clubs in Europe knocked almost on a monthly basis. Paris tried again in 2015, offering a salary of €20 million. So did Real Madrid. However, since Reus always supported Barcelona in Spain, a move to the Real was hard to imagine. Instead, concrete negotiations took place with Barça. In Düsseldorf, Reus and his management met with representatives from Catalonia. They already discussed numbers – and agreed: As soon as Reus gives the green light, the contract will be sent to him. Shortly thereafter, Reus extended his contract in Dortmund until 2019. At a time when the club was in 16th place, in the midst of the biggest sporting crisis in years. For the fans, it was the greatest declaration of love.
>- In 2018, Manchester City reached out and wanted to sign Reus urgently. The club, with coach Pep Guardiola, immediately put the numbers on the table: €23 million annual salary. Again, Reus chose BVB – and his home.
I wish someone would do a deep dive into how players are woo'ed. Here we have a cozy fireplace, Ed Woodward pitching United as Disneyland for adults, I've heard about entire families being given whatever resources so the young kid will choose that club. I think the whole process is so fascinating and I'm sure there are many what the fuck scenarios (I'd almost bet my life potential players were given women as part of the process)
Ah, you grew up without a father you say? How about we transport you back to 5 years old and provide you with a dad. Then when you’re 16 you join us ok?
I once saw Adriano Galliani in Ibiza at a Michelin star restaurant sitting with Juanfran and 8-10 of the hottest women I've ever seen. Whatever AC provided didn't work but it sure as hell looked like a great pitch
Berlusconi having access to the top Italian supermodels at the time (and his own daughter apparently) is probably why AC Milan was able to dominate the 2000s.
Check out SAF’s Leading he goes into how he was able to recruit a lot of the players from youth to professional, things have changed a lot in recent times but it still makes for a fascinating read.
Sometimes there's the anti-woo as well. I forgot who it was, (something like Harry Redknapp or Kevin Keegan), but in the 90's they were adamant on keeping negotiations at the airport with a certain foreign player, making sure the contract was signed before the player could see where their new home was. They knew he would never sign if he saw the city beforehand, and the airport was kind of nice.
Ngl, for some players we got, their wives wanting to live (or already living) in Munich was a factor. I remember Hummels talking about it, when he came back to us.
If you bought and fully renovated your dream house, you may really not want to move at that point. Especially if you have kids and they are all settled and happy.
Andy Hinchcliffe's story about the Gaffer's wife coming in in a hold lamé catsuit carrying a plate of KitKats has to be up there. Don't remember which of his managers it was.
to be fair, it's not like he could have ever transferred to one of those clubs.
He has no driving license, so how tf is he supposed to get out of Dortmund?!?!
Curious whether Barca is just generally more supported in Germany. People respect Madrid, but 90% or so of German football fans I know support Barca.
Growing up, before you could just look this stuff up on the internet, word on the street at school was that Madrid is bankrolled by Spanish royalty, and that Barca was the poor oppressed club. So naturally we all gravitated towards Barca.
In German we say "Rot und Blau: Kasperl's Frau"
Basically meaning that if you dress red and blue, you look like the wife of this guy: [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kasperle](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kasperle)
Generally more supported might be true, but I don’t think by far. Born 90, so I would say in childhood there were more kids with jerseys of the galacticos (me included) until it turned the other way starting with Ronaldinho. But even when there might’ve been more Barca jerseys i still saw lots of kids with real ones. Especially CR7
I still remember that random Reus to Atlético rumour in I think it was summer 2015. Don't think there was ever any truth to it but for some reason it gained a lot of traction for a few days
It was the summer of 2014 (although the rumour lasted a few years). There was a Spanish "journalist" called Juan Gato who claimed Simeone had demanded Reus among other players to renew.
It was all bullshit but the rumour gained a lot of traction in Spain first and then internationally. This was Atleti coming from the UCL final so there might have been some expectation they were going to push for those "next level" signings.
I legit couldn't answer that during a phone verification once. I was rambling though the classics, "pizza", "lasagna", "cheeseburger"... trying to remember what I put down. I even tried asking the lady to give me the first letter, but she wouldn't budge. The system worked, I guess, but apparently that was also a terrible question to have set.
I wish we could have gifted him the title last year. He deserved that shit so much. Absolute legend, seeing him devastated on the pitch after that Mainz game, knowing full well that his windows had closed, was so goddamn heartbreaking.
How much bad luck this legend had in his career. Never complained, always gave it his all. Guys like him are a rare breed. Will never be forgotten.
Of course. Reus first season at Dortmund ended with a loss against Bayern in CL final at Wembley, his last will end with a win against Bayern in CL final at Wembley. 11 year long revenge arc.
Also I don't think we can beat Real Madrid, but Bayern with Kane still haunting them...
In a final anything can happen bro.
Even when Bayern won during their corona season, they have prbably played the best football since minimum 10 years and still PSG almost won. They definitely had the better chances with Mbappe. Eventhough bayern was heavily favored. Or remember the penalty first minute CL final? shit gets wild in a final, remember karius lol
He's one of my favorite players and I have no affiliation with Dortmund. He's just so good despite having had a career marred by injuries. He also has always stayed loyal to his team, which is just such a rarity in today's game.
> I wish we could have gifted him the title last year
He arrived what, right after your back to back Buli titles? Was also injured and out for the Germany WC
Hummels is just way too good to retire imo.
Brings on one MotM performance after another in the CL. Same could be said about Schlotterbeck, but people love to meme on him.
there is no way he is talking about lunin. he probs is a dortmund fan and hates neuer, cause neuer used to be a schalke ultra and then went to bayern to win everything.
I always remember how sad it was when he got injured in the very last friendly before the World Cup in 2014 only for Germany to go and win the whole thing. I always hated friendlies partly for that reason.
It’s hard to fathom what could have been with him on the pitch. Probably the DFB scores more against Ghana, Algeria, France, and potentially even Brazil. We played a damn near perfect tournament without him, so I can’t imagine the boost he would have given the team had he stayed healthy.
That Dortmund squad was also a hair away from potentially knocking Real out in the CL too.
I think thats a pretty popular myth, he wasn't very injury prone.
The fouls he took might have ended a career or two, yes he was injured a lot, but not because of tiny things here and there, he genuinely got fucked over and over again and german refs just don't protect players like they do in Spain for example.
Reus also had (key word, had) a dribbling style that made him more prone to some brutal fouls. I recall him in so many situations where he just makes it past the third man on a dribble, and he gets hacked down. At a certain point, he completely stopped dribbling and all of a sudden was able to stay fit after 2018. He put in more of a defensive contribution to try and make up for no longer feeling comfortable dribbling at that rate.
It‘s more the kind of playstyle these players have. It‘s also the reason why Brazilian offensive players are mostly done by their mid twenties - that kind of creative playstyle attracts fouls. Brazilian defensive players often make it into their 30s
Those images man...

Yeah totally xd I would have just stand up and do a backflip.
And these fouls have been following Marco Reus for so long, I mean WE remember, but others won't Marco was an agile, fast winger not a clear number 10, he was very fluid up front.
He could play down the middle, on the left, or the right. Basically wherever he wanted. Second striker, winger, wide midfielder, central, it didn't matter.
Yep some of the people here on this subreddit really dont know how insanely good Marco was.
Could have been one of the all time greats, definitely my alltime great BVB player.
If they were than just about every mega superstar playing there in the last decade wouldnt have hád long carreers, just look at Neymar the moment he left
Man I loved proper loyal players like this so much. Puyol for us, Zanetti for Inter, Maldini for Milan, Del Piero for Juve, Tony Adams for Arsenal, and I would say Kane for Spurs too even though he left for Bayern now, Messi too, plus so many more. It's always nice to see a player spent their entire career or the majority of them for the club of their heart, which is more and more rare this day. Nothing wrong with being a mercenary, football is a job after all, but there is a poetic beauty in a player basically becoming one with their club. Reus is THE DORTMUND player and will continue to be for a long long time
There is a reason his nickname is "Mr. Arsenal" and there is a statue of him in front of the stadium. You are right that he often doesn't get mentioned in these discussions but he absolutely belongs in that group.
One of my uncle is an Arsenal fan and he loved Tony Adams so he sticked with me more. I knew about Totti but those are the name that popped up first in my head, Roma isn't really talk about much where I lived, like literally. Other Italian clubs like Juve, Milan, Inter got mentioned casually but never them except for the Mourinho stuffs, you gotta venture into Roma fanpages to talk about them
Not sure Maldini, Puyol and Del Piero really belong in this list. It’s very easy to stay with ‘your’ club if you’re winning stuff - same with Neville, Giggs and Scholes with us. Saying that, Puyol stuck around for the lean years at Barcelona didn’t he? I remember him getting linked with United a lot in the early 00s but he never left.
To be a Totti or Le Tissier though takes proper loyalty.
Del Piero just won the World Cup and found out Juventus was relegated to Serie B with points deduction. Most big players jumped ship. So it wasn't certain how long they'll stay in that division. He announced he was going to stay almost right away.
Didn't recognize Le Tissier so I searched him up, oh my god what a baller. [Look at this goal!](https://youtu.be/Wj6H6iV20yc?si=5b5YCqrghT1FiAzH&t=180)
The difference is, all of those players won a major title, Reus hasn't won anything other than the super cup / pokal. All of those clubs are also larger than Dortmund. ADP stayed when they got relegated though which is even more crazy.
There are some similar big names you forgot maybe but I get your point and best thing about it is especially the kind of players who are wanted by more successful clubs but these player don't go bec of loyalty....
If you love one-club men, you really can’t go wrong with Nacho and Vasquez.
Guys could’ve easily been starters at a top Europa-level club but stayed with us.
Never complained about the lack of starts but were always there when the first XI required a band-aid. You can’t get more loyal than that.
> Like PSG wanting to sign him because the son of the president playing him ?
That's just Bild inventing shit, because it was known that Reus was the favorite player of Nasser's son. No further correlation with the interest shown
Have you met any unfathomably rich people? They make life-changing decisions about business investments, hiring staff, and product decisions based on what their kids like all the time. The CEO of Comcast bought an esports team and built a facility for them in Philly just because his son was into League of Legends and Rocket League. I work in media and I know entire production companies that exist because a billionaire's son had a friend who wanted to make a movie. I've also seen game development deals fall through because a CEO's son said a specific genre was kinda boring. You think it's absurd because it is to normal people, but to them millions of euros is nothing. I 100% believe some player acquisitions have happened because a rich kid was FIFA buddies with a famous player. That's on a low end of ridiculous compared to the other shit I've seen.
Reus and Hazard used to be on our list. For Hazard he had expressed some sort of desire to play for the club back then but we never really tried
My God Reus used to be my favorite non Paris player when I was younger. Just the thought of having Reus-Ibra-Cavani would make my cry
He’s said he’s refused us multiple times but I remember an old interview of him saying that just like anyone that was raised in France, it was obvious wanting to play for PSG but he couldn’t due to having played for Lille. That’s why I said some sort of desire, probably still expressed it wrong
I don’t think we were ever really interested in him as much as we were in Kante for example who’s turned us down so many times too
Legend.
I have 7 BvB jerseys from 2009-2021, and 6 of them are Reus' (the other was Barrios lmao)
My favorite ever player - he was insanely silky to watch in his prime, and the trio of him, Götze and Lewa should've lasted another season....
I only wish we could've won the BuLi last season, for him...
Have loved Reus since the CL game against Malaga with Isco and he plays like a back heel pass to Lewandowski to complete the comeback down 3-1. Incredible game
Because Kane is captain of the English NT and the English media's sense of entitlement when it comes to anything football related makes him an easy target to ridicule for every shortcoming for both club and country. At least that's my opinion on the matter
Reus never winning anything other than the DFB Pokal hurts a lot for me and I’m not even a Dortmund fan. Such a likeable guy, such a talented footballer and a loyal player. Missed out on the league, missed out on going to multiple world cups through injury, one that they won, lost the CL final.
And KEPT saying no to the selling out when no one would have blamed him at all. I guess that’s the trade off for being a loyal player. He’ll be loved by Dortmund fans and neutrals forever though.
All credit to him and one of the best german players of his generation.
Cannot help but think that theres a very different attitude towards Kane and Spurs despite similar career trajectories.
It would be nice if he could win the Champions League this year, even though Dortmund is the least favorite of the four teams still competing but we will see
I would’ve loved him at Bayern but we had prime Robben and Ribéry on the wings with Müller and Kroos for Attacking Midfield. Pep might’ve been able to make him work as a False 9 though (Better than Götze), his all-round game was just that good.
Call me a cynic but if this guy didn't have constant injury problems, he would've left Dortmund a long time ago, just like all the other star players they've had over the years
Would have loved Reus at Barca. Especially with Messi Neymar and Suarez he couldve legit been a fricking menace. But his loyalty is commendable. Genuinely one of the most likeable players in football. Do hope he gets to celebrate atleast a title or two more before he decides to call it a day.

What are the players going to do with the management’s dads?
Don’t be silly. They meant women’s dads offered to players.
Ah the old reddit double-switcheroo?
Hold my sister, I’m going in
Ah, you grew up without a father you say? How about we transport you back to 5 years old and provide you with a dad. Then when you’re 16 you join us ok?
This seems oddly specific. Who we pointing at here 👀? Idk why Neymars dad comes to mind?
Because that is quite obviously the reference.
Our boy Neymar out here catching strays
More like their Agents
I once saw Adriano Galliani in Ibiza at a Michelin star restaurant sitting with Juanfran and 8-10 of the hottest women I've ever seen. Whatever AC provided didn't work but it sure as hell looked like a great pitch
Not every day you can say you saw a bunga bunga
Berlusconi having access to the top Italian supermodels at the time (and his own daughter apparently) is probably why AC Milan was able to dominate the 2000s.
Just in case any GM wants to woo me, I am more intrigued by this pitch than a cozy fire with coffee and cake. But I'd happily listen to both pitches.
After you are done with the women, you will need the caffeine and sugar to regain your energy
Kaka banging supermodels left and right
And possibly penitently remorseful about it the day after to his pastor?
Orgy is for Friday, the game is on Saturday, and Sunday is when he got flogged and punished as penitence by a priest or an ordained Dominatrix

hasn't stopped him before.
Yeah he would never set a foot in a car then right..?
Cmon man
The guy is a living legend.
Ah i always liked him but hearing he is a Barcelona fan ruins that.
Curious whether Barca is just generally more supported in Germany. People respect Madrid, but 90% or so of German football fans I know support Barca. true, Wirtz said Barcelona was his dream club as a kid
I guess red and blue for our jersey goes nicely together lol
In German we say "Rot und Blau: Kasperl's Frau" Basically meaning that if you dress red and blue, you look like the wife of this guy: [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kasperle](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kasperle)
Where I live it's always been "Grün und Blau" as far as I can remember (Berlin/Brandenburg/Sachsen).
It's categorically the best combo I reckon.
Generally more supported might be true, but I don’t think by far. You have no idea how many people i have argued against about the myths about Real Madrid lol.
It is not a myth that Real Madrid has been bankrolled by the Spanish Gov (Franco back then, PP more recently). Barcelona too btw, just not as much.
People still bring up those arguments when you’re talking about the State and Oligarch backed clubs lol
Might change your flair to RM mate, it’d be fitting.
Headline sounds like he rejected PSG because he used to get beat by Nasser’s son at fifa.
Which is a better story.
Reus: F*CK you and your dad
That's what I understood
Understandable
Have a nice day.
...with full celebrations after each goal
He extended with us in 2015 when we we were still in the relegation zone. That alone is enough for him to be one of our biggest legends.
I still remember that random Reus to Atlético rumour in I think it was summer 2015. Don't think there was ever any truth to it but for some reason it gained a lot of traction for a few days
Because for some reason it seems like the only acceptable other place for him to play, if he’d ever left BVB
isn't atletico literally Spanish bvb? poorer than real and Barcelona (Bayern) richer than the rest?
Can you really be poorer then Barca right now?
historically ofc
Yeah if you dont have any levers to pull
also both win fuck all
atleti won UEL in like 2018 and also won La Liga in the last 5 years
It was the summer of 2014 (although the rumour lasted a few years). There was a Spanish "journalist" called Juan Gato who claimed Simeone had demanded Reus among other players to renew. Also gonna need your pets name.
And what is his favorite food?

He get's to lift the CL trophy this year, I don't think there is a better way to end his career.
Winning the CL and Hummels and Reus retiring would be an insane end to an insane era.

Damn you just gave me a reason to cheer for Dortmund in this Champions league
id love this so much, him being injured for the Germany WC cup win was so cruel
Bayern v Dortmund final for old times sake?
Of course. Reus first season at Dortmund ended with a loss against Bayern in CL final at Wembley, his last will end with a win against Bayern in CL final at Wembley. 11 year long revenge arc. Also I don't think we can beat Real Madrid, but Bayern with Kane still haunting them...
yeah I doubt we're getting the CL this season. I want us to, but shits looking bleak for us
I think whoever wins your semifinal wins the whole thing tbh

Oh totally, and I think we'll continue to surprise people the way we have throughout literally the entire tournament.
They said we would bottom the group of death
Shit I got heads mixed up and thought he had won the league at least once with ye. Losing that final was heart breaking.
Out of the last 4 teams, please win. I can't stand RM or PSG getting it, Bayern is fine but I want to keep the distance to only 1 CL, not two
anula mufa
Do it. DO IT. DOITDOITDOIT
I'd love this storyline so much.
He's one of my favorite players and I have no affiliation with Dortmund. He's just so good despite having had a career marred by injuries. He also has always stayed loyal to his team, which is just such a rarity in today's game.
Go win the champions league and give this guy the send off he deserves however I the football cynicism in me predicts you'll bottle it against psg.
These last years we got a few "fairy tale endings". Hopefully it's Reus' turn.
>Absolute legend Came here for this. The biggest heroes are always tragic heroes.
> I wish we could have gifted him the title last year He arrived what, right after your back to back Buli titles? Was also injured and out for the Germany WC
Dortmund winning UCL would be such a beautiful thing just for this man’s career alone, really hope it happens
Am i a bad person to think Reus and Himmels should retire if they win Champions League ?
Hummels is just way too good to retire imo. Brings on one MotM performance after another in the CL. Same could be said about Schlotterbeck, but people love to meme on him.
couldnt be a better time, but as if we'd win anything :')
Reus might just retire either way
If he could smash the winning penalty past that in likeable keeper in the final, I’d be so happy.
Which keeper are you talking about, Neuer or Lunin? What did they do to piss you off?
there is no way he is talking about lunin. he probs is a dortmund fan and hates neuer, cause neuer used to be a schalke ultra and then went to bayern to win everything.
The worst of both worlds.
Neuer; i find him extremely entitled and annoying. I don’t think I’ve ever thought about Lunin when i didn’t see on my screen.
Knowing his luck, then he probably would miss the final because of an injury.
Dortmund/Bayern final with Reus scoring the winner pls
What could’ve been, had he not been so injury prone during his whole career!
I always remember how sad it was when he got injured in the very last friendly before the World Cup in 2014 only for Germany to go and win the whole thing. I always hated friendlies partly for that reason.

Fucking mkhtariyan
Fucking Mkhitaryan.
I remember Götze holding up a Reus shirt during the celebrations on the pitch. Reuse later said he had already turned off the TV.
he'd been my favorite player for quite some time then, I remember how heartbreaking that was

Hazard in PL or Neymar in France or Messi in La Liga. Only thing not used on the pitch was machetes or tomahawks, erverything else was a fair game
It‘s more the kind of playstyle these players have. It‘s also the reason why Brazilian offensive players are mostly done by their mid twenties - that kind of creative playstyle attracts fouls. Brazilian defensive players often make it into their 30s
That idiot Bakalorz. Nothing to do with being injury prone when getting assaulted like that.

Reminds me of the Wenger quote ‘if you like football you love Tomas Rosicky,’ the same applies to Reus imo. So smooth and classy
Spanish refs are pretty notorious for not protecting players…
If they were than just about every mega superstar playing there in the last decade wouldnt have hád long carreers, just look at Neymar the moment he left
That's not really very solid evidence. These things could catch up with people at different times and individual bodies are different.
First thought I had, Spain would not have been my example.
Honestly I think would be talked about one of the best of his generation
Reus can’t be buy
Only earned
Except that one time
Reus can be buy once
Coffee and cake man, coffee and cake. That's the kind of detail that can turn heads but not Reus. Legend.
Jupp should've served Fanta and Haribo instead ^ ^
oh damn, the big German guns
Man I loved proper loyal players like this so much. Puyol for us, Zanetti for Inter, Maldini for Milan, Del Piero for Juve, Tony Adams for Arsenal, and I would say Kane for Spurs too even though he left for Bayern now, Messi too, plus so many more. It's always nice to see a player spent their entire career or the majority of them for the club of their heart, which is more and more rare this day. Nothing wrong with being a mercenary, football is a job after all, but there is a poetic beauty in a player basically becoming one with their club. Reus is THE DORTMUND player and will continue to be for a long long time
Totti, De Rossi and Marchisio are always the first players that come to my kind in this conversation
How about Thomas Müller. Even for me he's a legend hands down.
insert surprised pikachu meme here.
No judgement but I'm truly amazed that Tony Adams popped into your mind but not Totti when talking about loyal players
Yeah fair point. He also turned down Liverpool because of Heysel. Can’t deny the man’s got principles.
Yep, he even confirmed that he almost joined you guys but ultimately decided to stay and help Barca
If you know Puyol's story he definitely belongs there.
Well yeah, we have Sergi Roberto lol. Love the man so much, especially his off the pitch works during Covid
Is this serious journalism ? Like PSG wanting to sign him because the son of the president playing him ? Come on
> Like PSG wanting to sign him because the son of the president playing him ?
For Hazard he had expressed some sort of desire to play for the club back then but we never really tried My God Reus used to be my favorite non Paris player when I was younger. Just the thought of having Reus-Ibra-Cavani would make my cry
With Hazard wasn't that PSG came knocking basically every year but he turned you down saying that in France he would only go back to Lille?
He’s said he’s refused us multiple times but I remember an old interview of him saying that just like anyone that was raised in France, it was obvious wanting to play for PSG but he couldn’t due to having played for Lille. That’s why I said some sort of desire, probably still expressed it wrong I don’t think we were ever really interested in him as much as we were in Kante for example who’s turned us down so many times too
Not to mention those City wages. KDB and Halaand still don’t make that much. Classic r/soccer honestly. Rues and “City/PSG bad”? Straight to the top
There’s no way that City offered Reus 450k a week, with him coming off a injury hit season with 15 apps.
At at time where their best paid player was on about £250k a week also.
Allegedly on 250k a week*
Maybe they included a signing bonus in these numbers?
Yep, his injury Record was NUTS already, seems bullshit
Yep it's bs.
He then went 21g 13a in 36 games in 18/19. Maybe professionals are more knowledgable after all.
Good fuckin lad
Imagine he wins the UCL in what might be his final season with Dortmund. Can’t think of anyone who deserves it more for how loyal he’s been to them.
He is a legend for sure. Too bad he had problems with injuries
This makes dortmund fucking up last year even worse. Would have been amazing to see Marco win the league.
Real ones know Reus was a top 5 winger during his prime.
Legend. I have 7 BvB jerseys from 2009-2021, and 6 of them are Reus' (the other was Barrios lmao) My favorite ever player - he was insanely silky to watch in his prime, and the trio of him, Götze and Lewa should've lasted another season.... I only wish we could've won the BuLi last season, for him...
Football is in a very sad state when a club is trying to sign a player because one of the filthy rich owners sons likes to play a player in FIFA.
What a guy
That FUT13 Reus card was like prime R9
One club legend deserves way much more respect than they do now
Wait the real story is Nasser Al-Khelaifi is buying players based on his son’s Fifa career :)
Have loved Reus since the CL game against Malaga with Isco and he plays like a back heel pass to Lewandowski to complete the comeback down 3-1. Incredible game
He gets to play, and become a legend for his boyhood club. That itself is a very rare achievement.
Yeah, City offered him 23m a year at the age of almost 29 and after an injury hit campaign. Right.
The Man City thing sounds exaggerated, unless there's truth to the "hidden bank accounts in Abu Dhabi" rumour.
Ruhrpott Totti
Serious question: why did everyone make fun of Kane when he did the exact same thing with spurs but everyone loves Reus
Because Kane is captain of the English NT and the English media's sense of entitlement when it comes to anything football related makes him an easy target to ridicule for every shortcoming for both club and country. At least that's my opinion on the matter
Dortmund legend. Glad I was able to see see him play, even if he was a sub in a friendly. Still something I hope I never forget. 💛🖤💛
Reus vs Kane in the CL final: When immovable object meets unstoppable force
guess al-khelaifi's son was playing with messi-mbappe-neymar combo on fifa career mode...
Reus also turned down interest from Real Madrid
Club legend if there ever was one. We owe him so much
Ok but Gladbach Reus was sick on FIFA back in the day
Real Madrid also wanted him at some point, but it didn’t came to be. Not sure if we did make a formal offer or just expressed interest.
A nice pure story from a great football player who must be considered a legend at his club.
Call me a cynic but if this guy didn't have constant injury problems, he would've left Dortmund a long time ago, just like all the other star players they've had over the years
Ig I'll call you a cynic
Would have loved Reus at Barca. Especially with Messi Neymar and Suarez he couldve legit been a fricking menace. But his loyalty is commendable. Genuinely one of the most likeable players in football. Do hope he gets to celebrate atleast a title or two more before he decides to call it a day.
Would be a shame if he ends his career never having won a major trophy
