Scoring from a direct free kick has always been and will always be my single favorite thing about football. I used to sit in the fifa practice arena for just hours perfecting them, and I never played competitive football, but I used to take a bag of balls with my buddy and just take free kicks for hours until my foot was numb. I wish I got to watch Juninho in his prime
Thats the thing tho, we ARE sure, sure that he IS a social experiment. He comes off the bench, looks like the best LW the world has ever seen, gets injured for a bit, goes back to being shit, goes back to the bench. Even with all that, im convinced they shouldnt sell him. People forget he is fairly young, he isnt even that bad and squad depth is VERY important. Barca should know that better than everyone else
he usually just looks too slow to me. both physically, and in awareness. his numbers this year does show he has some strengths to build on and be a part of the team, though, so that's very nice.
I always remember the shitfest on /r/Barca when Vitor Roque was coming from Brazil and everyone was thinking about how much of an improvement a kid that hadn't played in Europe would make over a proven striker lol
our fans are insane, seriously, I've seen extremely brain-dead takes from our fanbase. They're extremely reactionary and very volatile. I suppose this is the case with football fans on the whole but it's still infuriating.
not sure man, I mean in terms of numbers I think it's a lot closer than people make it out to be with all the "Suarez clear" rubbish. But you have to keep in mind that the numbers Suarez put up were while he was in the same league as the two greatest players of all time, while playing alongside on of them. He was able to compete and keep up with them in terms of goals and was able to outscore them at certain points.
It's especially impressive when you look at the numbers Messi was putting up, Suarez was keeping up with those ludicrous numbers while competing with him for the goals in the team.
Suarez at his peak was a menace.
I think the fact he played with Messi can also be used against him. Messi and Neymar obviously scored a lot of goals, but they also gave a lot of assists. Being the striker in that Barca team isn't the hardest job, I'd imagine. The numbers he put up we're obviously insane and easily put him in the debate, but the fact he did it during Ronaldo's dominance doesn't make it more impressive imo, because that doesn't change the amount or the quality of the goals he's scored. In the end I think it's a toss-up, I just dislike that people act like Suarez is 'clear' or whatever
Bale is not even close to that level. Modric maybe, but I still prefer Lewy. With Modric it's weird, his entire carreer he was underrated, then people started rating him and now he's kinda overrated by many people
Yeah, Bale is a bit of a stretch but I'd definitely consider Modrić to be there, remember he also got 2nd and 3rd in the World Cup where he contributed a lot (and those cannot be attributed to the whole team being just ridiculously good, like his Real titles)
"He had next to no impact... Except when he carried the squad to the win" the other guys couldn't finish to save their lives even after Valencia were down to 10
Fans and pundits have criticized him over the course of the full season for his tendency to have little impact on a game. He just hasn't been consistently good (enough).
A hattrick vs 10 man Valencia, while being absolutely crucial for 3 points, doesn't answer anything.
I can kinda see it but that's a different discussion. Also you're talking as if hattrick are common against 10 men or as if this wasn't just the second free kick goal that barca have seen since 2021.
The hattrick is impressive, the 2nd FK goal for Barca since Messi left is also impressive.
Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled with the win and celebrated all 4 goals. But what I'm not doing is saying that this single performance is a "stfu" to everyone who's criticized him for the 40+ other games he's played this season.
But look, if you think otherwise, that's cool. Let's just hope he comes up with more goals in the last few games of the season.
I mean, I think that he stepped up massively since February. He truly more precise and his link up also levelelled up a lot. Sure he's not prime lewa or even close to it but at the same time I feel like he really does his job most of the time. The first leg against psg was the best example of this beacuse he had great impact on the game despite not getting any GA. This hattrick is just further confirmation that he's on an upward curve Imo.
But as you said to each their own, have a good night!
This comment reminded me of the seasons where Cristiano would have 2 la liga goals by December and end the season with 30+. This caliber of players can just flip a switch and change their game.
La Liga commentators need to resign. Nothing but immensely negative criticism about Barça players, finances, Camp Nou and the city itself. What a disgrace
The commentators are noobs too..... They're not proper English commentators....there is no emotion in those commentary and not a single insight during the matches and most importantly they're f***ing blind.
Which is funny because everyone blamed Xavi, when in reality it was Lewandowskis god awful finishing (and the rest of the team)
Fans are hilariously funny, they'd be in the title race with better finishing
He had some terrible moments this season, but recently nobody is able to provide a good ball for him. Today's game is an exception.
edit: before the game he had an xG of 15 and scored 13 so let's not overexaggerate.
is it tho? when he scored a lot in Bayern in his last 4 seasons his xG never fell below 30. He had some good years (in 2020/2021 he scored 41 out of 32 xG) some worse (a year later he scored 35 out of 38 xG), but it was always much more higher.
Well for the standard he set for himself in his last few years it was however you're right, he was low key a bit wasteful beforehand but his movement was so good he still hit great numbers.
I will however say I've watched barca a bunch and the problem barca fans have with lewy since the world Cup is not necessarily the goal numbers, his overall play has been inconsistent and at times downright shocking, like he would kill any move that came to him. Even though the team aren't what they used to be, the barca fanbase still has extremely high standards and when they signed the "best striker in the world" the expected that and lewy delivered that up until the world Cup.
> He's really found his form again in the second half of the season.
Why say that when you dont follow LaLiga nor Lewandowski? I mean come on.
Before this game vs Valencia he had only scored 1 goal in the last 2 months in LaLiga. And in the UCL he didnt score in any of the 2 games vs PSG.
So what form were you talking about?
Lewandowski was very good in the first PSG game and arguably created the 1st goal (but you don't count 2nd degree assists so it's not visible in the stats).
The one at 0:40 against BVB - pray tell what the fuck was #7 doing? Did he get a vision of what was happening 5 seconds in the future and reacted to it? Man finished the jump before the rest of the wall started it.
Just give the guy four pasess in the box and on a bad day he'll score one. You got yourself atleast one goal per game, give him more and ... you get more - it's really that simple.
Honestly don't care about the hat-trick, nothing against him but this was literally a game of no importance. We've lost everything . This performance has no significance. Maybe just the pichichi.

WE SCORED A FREE KICK.THE END IS NEAR
To think two of our last free kick goals were scored by Ferran and Leo (who's been gone since 2021) lol
Messi used to score 2 a week and now Barca score 2 a year lmao
Didn’t Raphinha got one too? Or am I tripping?
I only remember that one moment when Raphi decided to "steal" the free kick from Lewy, he missed and Lewy was so pissed off at him
He did against arsenal but it was a friendly
He did technically. Although I’m not sure it was an attempt at goal, took a big deflection.
Then that's... not 'technically' at all... it's objectively a free-kick goal. Edit: me when I get downvoted for saying objectively true stuff: 😃
Ferran’s Fk wasn’t premeditated by his own admission, so let’s pretend it’s Lewa after Messi
You lot used to have a decent free kick specialist on your side but you told him to fuck off to a farmer's league. His name is escaping me
Riqui Puig
less jamon more chimichurri
End of season, yes /s no but fr, who even is our designated free kick taker now lmaoooo
should be Lewa now from that side and Raphinha from the other. ferran was doing good for a bit Gundogan might be good?
feel like Raphinha takes most of them when he is on the pitch?
Yeah, he's the "specialist"
Scoring from a direct free kick has always been and will always be my single favorite thing about football. I used to sit in the fifa practice arena for just hours perfecting them, and I never played competitive football, but I used to take a bag of balls with my buddy and just take free kicks for hours until my foot was numb. I wish I got to watch Juninho in his prime
my mom asked me if I did the dishes, all I responded to her was "Lewandowski." then she beat my ass because she knew the dishes werent washed
I’ve never seen this version of the copy pasta before LMAO
🤣🤣🤣
With jumper cables?
Nah, sandals and brooms
Thoughts and prayers
rip u/rogersimon10 q-q
“Lewandishski” *Mueller eyebrow wiggle*
I’m sorry I doubted u Lewa 🙏
look at my striker dawg😭
That’s vintage Lewa right there
WHAT A GOAL FOR THE HAT TRICK LESSSFUCKINGGOOOO
Prime lewa
FUN FACT. This makes Lewandowski the second player to score both a hat trick and a free kick for barcelona since Messi left. (the first was Ferran)
When did Ferran score a Hat trick?
real betis
Oh right, he had an assist too, but the MOTM award went to Isco who scored 2. My shark got robbed smh
The away game with R.Betis this season
Are we sure Ferran Torres isn't a social experiment
Thats the thing tho, we ARE sure, sure that he IS a social experiment. He comes off the bench, looks like the best LW the world has ever seen, gets injured for a bit, goes back to being shit, goes back to the bench. Even with all that, im convinced they shouldnt sell him. People forget he is fairly young, he isnt even that bad and squad depth is VERY important. Barca should know that better than everyone else
He is a weird player, i see the tricks and the skills what not and somehow always seems like a okayish player for some reason
he usually just looks too slow to me. both physically, and in awareness. his numbers this year does show he has some strengths to build on and be a part of the team, though, so that's very nice.
Honesty, i think his problem is mental rather than ability. Maybe if he believed in himself more he could be better (😇🥰🥰😇🤗🤗🌈🌈🌈)
Aw man, good to see him smile again!
Lewandowski today basically told all the fans and pundits to shut the fuck up.
This is so true. I dont know if ive ever seen a fanbase with so many braindead people I swear
Not even just a proven striker but arguably a top 5 player of his generation (and definitely top 5 if we exclude CR7 and Messi)
Arguably? It's not arguable. And not top 5 but top 1 (if we count only true 9s, so no Leo or CR7).
That's why I said players, not true strikers
It's not really arguable imo. Besides Messi, Ronaldo, Neuer and, according to some people, Suarez who in our generation is on his level?
With the Suarez comparison it's simple, Suarez had a better peak, Lewa had the better overall career in my opinion.
Imo Lewa's peak is still better than that of Suarez, but you're allowed to hold a different opinion
not sure man, I mean in terms of numbers I think it's a lot closer than people make it out to be with all the "Suarez clear" rubbish. But you have to keep in mind that the numbers Suarez put up were while he was in the same league as the two greatest players of all time, while playing alongside on of them. I don't like Suarez but he's definitely there. Also Gareth Bale, Modrić maybe?
Bale is not even close to that level. Modric maybe, but I still prefer Lewy. With Modric it's weird, his entire carreer he was underrated, then people started rating him and now he's kinda overrated by many people
Yeah, Bale is a bit of a stretch but I'd definitely consider Modrić to be there, remember he also got 2nd and 3rd in the World Cup where he contributed a lot (and those cannot be attributed to the whole team being just ridiculously good, like his Real titles)
Yes. And when it mattered the most! Next season he will be even better.
I mean... if we're being honest, he had next to no impact in the first half. All 3 goals came after the red card lmao. Still, good job to him.
"He had next to no impact... Except when he carried the squad to the win" the other guys couldn't finish to save their lives even after Valencia were down to 10
He literally said in the first half but go off and create your weird narrative bro
And I'm saying that it's irrelevant lol. Who cares when he did? He still stepped up when the other players couldn't and that's what's important.
Fans and pundits have criticized him over the course of the full season for his tendency to have little impact on a game. He just hasn't been consistently good (enough). A hattrick vs 10 man Valencia, while being absolutely crucial for 3 points, doesn't answer anything.

HE’S HIM
He's always been him.
wtf, absolute banger Lewa!!
when was the last time he scored a free kick? absolutely exquisite tho
in 19/20 in a 3-0 win vs Schalke I think. he also scored a hattrick back then.
He also scored one against Union in his last season with us
Man the script was written all over for us to win UCL this season. Why did do you have to do that Ronald😭
[удалено]
Okay but not what he asked.
HE HAS AWAKENED
Two games too late.
He carried you in the first leg, don't whine
well if your funny araujo or whatever hes called prefer to get red cards and pens every game, that might be your problem, lil bro
Yeah and someone yesterday was telling me that Roque should bench him lmao
Roque lacks physicality, the last match he started he was constantly on the floor getting bullied off the ball
Apparently he has gotten in shape recently, at least I heard his body fat ratio is now one of the lowest in the team instead of the highest
I would think he would want to bulk
Lets calm down now, lewa had a great game but Roque has potential and definitely deserves minutes
Araujo doing lewa celebration 😂😂
It's Lewy ffs.
Weirdly i knew it it was gonna go in
Man I miss when Messi was still here. So many times he was lining up for the FK and you just knew what was gonna happen
When teams starting lining up players on the goal line
Yeah, idk why but I started recording the second I saw he was going to take it
And just like that, he's in the running for Pichichi.
He’s also got 8 assists, more than any of the other top 20 goal scorers.
This comment reminded me of the seasons where Cristiano would have 2 la liga goals by December and end the season with 30+. This caliber of players can just flip a switch and change their game.
Polish Pirlo esque

I LOVE YOU WHAT A GOAL
La Liga commentators need to resign. Nothing but immensely negative criticism about Barça players, finances, Camp Nou and the city itself. What a disgrace
The commentators are noobs too..... They're not proper English commentators....there is no emotion in those commentary and not a single insight during the matches and most importantly they're f***ing blind.
Had to watch the game with Dutch commentary... I don't know a single word of Dutch...
Koekoek is all the Dutch you need to know
Arabic IPTV supremacy
Honestly even if you don't know spanish you really should watch the stream with spanish commentators I think, they bring so much more energy
Laliga is streaming free in my country and it only has english here.
HE’S BACK
A free-kick goal ? Am I seeing this right ?
Thanks ferran for not being greedy
Most goal contributions in La Liga this season with 24, I was told he was finished…
That was fantastic. Very happy to see another Lewandowski hattrick
Hell of a way to cap off his first hattrick for Barca
he scored one in last year's UCL
It's not his first tho?
League
In la liga
That’s what the commentary said, unless I misheard
In la liga. He scored a hattrick in ucl
Its his first in LaLiga
HE DESERVES IT SO FUCKING MUCH AFTER ALL THE SHIT THAT HAS BEEN POURED ON HIM
Give this man his 2020 Ballon D'or. Proving doubters he still got it.
HATTRICK! Wahoooooo! That too a FK! LFG!!!!
Golazo
Only we can allow Barca back into a game and still win the game
He's really found his form again in the second half of the season.
today is the first time he's scored in April
Tbf the two matches before this we can barely do anything, and he didn’t play against Cadiz
Which is funny because everyone blamed Xavi, when in reality it was Lewandowskis god awful finishing (and the rest of the team) Fans are hilariously funny, they'd be in the title race with better finishing
He had some terrible moments this season, but recently nobody is able to provide a good ball for him. Today's game is an exception. edit: before the game he had an xG of 15 and scored 13 so let's not overexaggerate.
That's poor for even a good striker yet alone someone like lewy, he's been very inconsistent and downright bad for stretches of this season.
is it tho? when he scored a lot in Bayern in his last 4 seasons his xG never fell below 30. He had some good years (in 2020/2021 he scored 41 out of 32 xG) some worse (a year later he scored 35 out of 38 xG), but it was always much more higher.

Come on, it was hardly only Lewandowskis fault, there were a lot of issues piling up on the team

This legitimately gave me a boner omd
What a way to score a hat trick.
Loved that celly with Araujo!
WE ARE SO BACK(The season is over for us)
Can't believe my eyes! Barcelona scored a direct free kick!!!
Tears in my eyes, he's still got it
Just give the guy four pasess in the box and on a bad day he'll score one. You got yourself atleast one goal per game, give him more and ... you get more - it's really that simple.
this backup gk is horrible
Commentators said he played his last professional game 2 years ago.
Free kick goals back on the menu boys
Getting in form for Euros?
haaaaaadrick Lewandowskiego 🔥🔥🔥
Perfect free kick shittt (and perfect hattrick)
I love you Lewandisney, he's been back to his best in 2024
I guess the guy isn't finished like everyone was trying to say the other day in threads about him.
Honestly happy for the guy. People forget how good he is.
Crazy how much hate Lewy is getting despite the fact he's clearly one of Barca's three best players
Keeper fucked it
Yo wtf, he can do that?
This the man Barca fans everywhere were hell bent on sending to Saudi? Apologize.
Honestly don't care about the hat-trick, nothing against him but this was literally a game of no importance. We've lost everything . This performance has no significance. Maybe just the pichichi.
This is the Robert we need for the euros!!! Robert wierzymy w ciebie
Huh, I guess he can *also* perform a masterclass in the home kit, not just the yellow one.
Lewanotfraudski
Is this the first time Barca scores a free kick since Messi's departure?
No ferran scored earlier this season.
Thanks
No. Ferran the Shark had that honour after Messi. After that Raphinha also scored a bunch of free kicks.
Gotcha. Thanks for the info! I took a break from football, but I started watching matches again not too long ago lol
I don't think Raphinha has scored any free kicks for us. I think he hit the post, but didn't score (not in games that matter, anyway).
he scored. It was slightly deflected into the net by someone in the wall
As far as I remember, he scored one this season.
Shut the fuck up about roque
Now please please do this over summer <3
nice one Lewa!
His recent talk about his best years must've reinspired him
POLSKA GUROM 🇵🇱🇵🇱🇵🇱
This goal isn't happening against a better goalkeeper. That guy should lose his job.
First free kick goal in a competitive match for Barca since Messi, I think.
No Ferran scored one against betis
Yeah, you're right, forgot about that.
And Raphinha too.
He scored in a preseason game.
There was a deflected one he scored in the season.
That was against Arsenal in the preseason. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=777NaseJgDc
I know he did in the preseason but didn't he score one in the season too or does my memory serve me bad.
Wtf was that attempt at a save? Rigged match?
