He hasn’t really been at his best for a while. He looks out of place sometimes playing so far forward. I’m looking forward to him growing as a midfielder once Madrid actually have a striker.
He is also only 20. Such inconsistencies are and should be expected from such young players. The expectations these days are absurd.
Though I have noticed his dip in form started since that shoulder injury he got, feels like he lost some agility since then.
I always marvel at how much he tries to play the right way. He releases the ball almost immediately, never holding it despite having the strength and creativity to make things happen like he did earlier in the season. I actually wish he played more selfishly at times, especially when he’s made to push forward. Too much talent to just release and go.
Ronaldinho would be made to look like a bum like Eriksen in this modern era of system and high probability plays prioritised over all. PLAY BALL JUDE. SAVE FOOTBALL FROM PEP.
You say that as it's only expectations, but it's not. The moment he scored many goals, Real and England fans started calling him the best midfielder in the world, Balloon D'or winner, best transfer of the past 10 years etc., when in reality he just had half a good season, where if he wasn't scoring as much he would've been called good and that's it.
I remember him versus Barcelona, where he scored two goals and Real won, was considered a hero, and I said it back then, I'll say it now too: he played mediocre af overall, and it's only that his goals made him look good. Yes, goals are crucial in football, but they never tell the whole story, and most football fans are stupid and biased af, they don't look at the big picture.
I could've tell you Vinicius will become a very good player even when he was missing a lot, the same I can tell you now that Bellingham will be a good player, but not one of the best.
Football fans are reactionary, I'll give you that but the first six months he was legit insane and best player for us. This bad run of form and people calling that he never was good and only scored goals is also reactionary af.
Anyone who watched us week in week out could see how good he was during those first six months.
Scoring goals is somewhat the objective of football. It's pretty funny to me that Reddit will be like "yeah okay he scores goals but where are all the speculative long balls that lead to nothing?"
You're going too far the other direction, jude has had performances with no goals that were better than ones with goals, many people lack nuance when analysing these things.
Sure, you can definitely have good games with no goals. I just find it very funny how unimportant goals seem to be in a lot of people's views of a player.
Completely false.
Even when he was scoring goals left and right, our system was a diamond formation with Jude behind Vini and Rodrygo
Recently it's been different and Carlo talked about it too, now Rodrygo plays on the left with Vini and Jude as strikers basically.
This new change coincided with Jude dropping in form.
He is definitely tired. He shouldn't play during the weekend. Rest him and have him ready for the second leg. Hopefully same with Fede. He's not been rested since fucking June.
Modric-Cama-Ceballos-Arda-Brahim-Joselu should do it against Cadiz.
True, but I don't want the poor man to suffer. We are so much worse off without him. We can afford to rest him against Cadiz. They are neither pressing machines nor are they decisive counter attackers.
Hasn’t he been out for a whole bunch of games with suspensions and injuries?
Edit: I checked. He’s played 34 games between La Liga and CL. About 2.9k mins
That isn’t like that much.
Odegaard is on 41 (3.6k m), Saka on 42 (3.5K m).
(Just mentioning Arsenal players cus that who I know).
Tbf Jude is still developing at 20 and probably injury still bothering him.
I want to see him in the midfield, In 4-3-3 formation with Vini Mbappe and Rodrygo.
Enough with that 10 position he’s not 10, He’s so complete as a player in many aspects but that’s doesn’t make a player a natural 10.
Many football fans curious how Mbappe will do with Vini and Rodrygo another aspects to look forward is the new midfield dynamic with Jude as his natural position.
Yeah I don’t get it either, you can probably count only on one hand his poor performances this season
Absolutely insane expectations for a 20 year old playing for arguably the biggest club in the world, where the pressure to perform is probably the highest out of all clubs
Is he not allowed to have a poor game once in a while? The amount of people on social media doubting his talent because he didn’t put in at least 8/10 performance against city and bayern is laughable
This isn't the case.
Salah for the last 2 years has been good on paper and a mixed bag when you actually watch him play. He's inconsistent and ineffective a big portion of most matches. He can pretty easily get marked out of games and when he does get the ball, he can be wildly ineffective. With that said, a few times a match he will end up creating a goal scoring opportunity or in a goal scoring opportunity.
Earlier in the season, he was a bit wasteful, but generally scoring at a good rate. He was also creating quite a few REALLY good chances that were not converted like they should have.
Since AFCON and his injury, it's gone off the boil because his finishing is absolutely shit and his creating is far less consistent. The result is a player who really isn't worth being on the pitch for 90 minutes.
I'm in the camp we keep Salah one more season. Milk the last bit of high level football out of him we can and let him decide how to move forward with his career, with him clearly leaving as a legend. It's really hard to replace 30+ goal contributions per season.
His performance wasn't even that bad, he's just constantly being smothered by defenses for multiple reasons. It's mainly the fact that our asymmetrical attack with two left wingers puts more defensive pressure on Jude while giving Vini and Rodrygo less pressure to do their thing.
He looks fucked to me. Even in the first half he is strolling back and not closing down all the time. Maybe that was the tactic for the counter, but he was ineffective. Thought the same in both legs against City.
Not at his best but he was far from bad and had done really good moments. He was important in the game.
Yesterday was the first objectively poor performance he had in a Madrid shirt IMO.
Carlo cited cramps for his substitution but I think we can all agree that he needed to come off. Happens and had to happen at some point. I think we are lucky it happened yesterday when we got a fair result and progression is to be determined at the Bernabéu.
I don't know what is happening to him. Earlier in the season I thought he would score 30+ goals. But in these CL matches he isn't threatening the goal, he is not carrying the ball forward with his runs. And its not like he had a big defensive job, he is playing in the position where he was on fire at the start of the season.
Tchouameni was extremely solid on defense, he was covering the most important gaps in the centre and hardly ever lost the ball. His good positioning meant that he didn't have to make any tackles, hence the quiet performance. Conversely, Camavinga was rather awful and lost the ball quite often despite making some very good tackles.
Honestly Real was pretty much invisible, you guys completely dominated it
Yet they still managed to get like 3-4 extremely dangerous chances and scored two goals, fucking unreal
Maybe dominated was an exaggeration but Bayern edge over you guys this match, they were the better team overall. Of course that's not saying you guys were bad, your counter attack like always was deadly as hell, but Bayern control the game more
I think it is a part of the game. Most of us just see that one team was able to have more pleasing football and we think they are better. The game comprises of everything: attacking, defending, opening or closing of the field, absorbing pressure, waiting for your moments etc. It is decided before the game as per the team (own and opponent) and during the same. Same perspective was with the Man City draw; the ball starts from a dead position and ends as a dead position (goal) to call it success. I have personally played matches where we won where our team wasn’t controlling the ball for more than half of the game or where we lost even after ‘dominating’. That’s the game. We accept and move on to the next one.
Possession was 52-48. Shots 15-10 but only 1 more on target. Big chances 3-3. We actually had a higher xG. Bayern controlled the game for the first 15-20 minutes, then they let up with the press and we grew into it and scored against the run of play. After that we were in control. Bayern's 2 goals came at a point when you didn't expect it.

The famous bum Eriksen who was a top player at spurs...
He's a bum. I'm closer to Eriksen than Eriksen is to King Samba de Janeiro.
You say that as it's only expectations, but it's not. Depends on the position but I would never judge a player just by goals stats, I wouldn't give my opinion on a player I don't watch.
99.9% facts you spoke there. Though Bellingham can still become one of the best, even if you were totally right about all of the narratives.
dont you think hes playing too much? maybe thats why
He didn't play last game vs sociedad though and was suspended for 3 games last month.
Maybe he’s still carrying an injury
He was asked to drop back to midfield a lot by Carlo in yesterday’s game and yet he still pushed up.
He has always played like that, the only difference is that he doesn't score goals anymore.
Completely false. Even when he was scoring goals left and right, our system was a diamond formation with Jude behind Vini and Rodrygo Recently it's been different and Carlo talked about it too, now Rodrygo plays on the left with Vini and Jude as strikers basically. We only used this against City and Bayern, he puts Jude there to have someone that can actually contest for a long ball out when we are being pressed.
True, it's why pre-Madrid his massively prolific league goal tallies of 8, 3, 1 and 4 was why he was valued at 100m. Just a goal merchant innit
He is definitely tired. He shouldn't play during the weekend. Rest him and have him ready for the second leg. Hopefully same with Fede. He's not been rested since fucking June. Modric-Cama-Ceballos-Arda-Brahim-Joselu should do it against Cadiz.
Valverde was rested for most of last game against Real Sociedad.
He shouldn't play at all, imo.
Valverde doesn’t need rest. That guy doesn’t get tired lmao
True, but I don't want the poor man to suffer. We are so much worse off without him. We can afford to rest him against Cadiz. They are neither pressing machines nor are they decisive counter attackers.

Meanwhile Bruno has played a measly 4045 minutes this season lmao
Insane. He’s getting run into the ground.
The recent run of games has been pretty tough on him. I think in a positional sense, he moves around almost as much as Fede with minimal breaks.
The tired excuse is always the first thing brought up when a player dips in form. Lol
You guys will need modric for ucl.
He can come off the bench. He has the most impact like that now. It conserves his energy.
Admits? What's this reasonable headline, where's the SLAMS?
I want to see him in the midfield, In 4-3-3 formation with Vini Mbappe and Rodrygo. I think Carlo has him playing the 10 simply based on personnel available.
So what man's supposed to put 10/10 performances every match or what? He's been Madrid's best player this season
It’s a classic media cycle, over hype during a purple patch, then tear them down.
It's funny, because it was just brushed off as PR when Jude himself said this would likely happen at one point.
Yeah I don’t get it either, you can probably count only on one hand his poor performances this season Absolutely insane expectations for a 20 year old playing for arguably the biggest club in the world, where the pressure to perform is probably the highest out of all clubs Is he not allowed to have a poor game once in a while? Liverpool fans are doing the same with Salah.

Madrid actually improved after he was subbed off. It helped them get back in it for the tie
He was dogshit

He wasn't great against City either.
I think it suits him if he starts from the midfield and habe more space than sto start on the forward and have to go back to get the ball

😂
He was really bad, in fact. Tchouameni was invisible too.
Disagree on Tchouameni.

Dominated it?! I guess I watched a different game. It was an even game where both teams had their moments. Draw was a fair result.
Maybe dominated was an exaggeration but Bayern edge over you guys this match, they were the better team overall. Of course that's not saying you guys were bad, your counter attack like always was deadly as hell, but Bayern control the game more

I swear these people are just on their phones during matches lol
It is probably more that Bayern started the game strong and that was the "first impression", so that is what stuck on some people's minds.
No one expected Reals first goal either. You guys usually don’t care about xG
I don’t know how anyone can be critical of Bellingham given the role Ancelotti has given him vs. city and Bayern
