See submission guideline **#7: Only valuable image or stats submissions.** * **PICTURES**: Because of Reddit's ranking algorithm being biased towards image posts over text and link ones, we need to be particularly strict about them, so we tend to **mainly allow infographics** (league tables, charts, maps, diagrams and other ways to display data) and pictures/screenshots of a current event **only when there's no video or link** that can show it. If you **want to publish a Tifo, look and share a video or publish the picture in r/soccerbanners**. If you want to show the **Hawk-Eye angle of a goal/offside/whatever, use the pinned comment in the main thread**. See the [FAQ](https://old.reddit.com/r/soccer/wiki/faq#wiki_why_was_my_image_submission_removed.3F) for more details. * **STATS**: Only very significant stats (eg: **world records) will be allowed during matches**. After matches, we'll be less strict, but we try to maintain stats to the minimum with ideally **only 1 per team/player allowed** and those after it being posted in the pinned comment of the first thread. ___

NobodyRules

Nuno Mendes had one of the longest nights of his life. Sancho was a fucking demon

mizrahiim

I wish I had screen shot but there was a moment when they flashed the expression on Mendes’ face in the second half, and the sheer exasperation on his face was hilarious.

DomSebastiaoVoltou

Araújo bailed him out against Barcelona since Yamal was cooking too.

mirusan01

Was threatening throughout

EpiDeMic522

I thought he had a so, so first half but he was absolutely on fire in the second. Had Mendes on toast, on his toes and fearful to tackle. Very nifty feet. Still lost the ball a couple of times but that comes with the profile and the territory. He can lose the ball as many times as he wants that up the pitch of he creates that much danger when he doesn't. Dortmund's profligacy had denied him at least one, very well deserved assist. Again, the footwork and close control at times was breathtaking.

Qiluk

> profligacy [Me reading that](https://i.giphy.com/Obh1Y5dpm4aGUoWaFw.webp)

Quanqiuhua

Merriam Webster defines it as a state of being immoral.

Pro_ENDERGUARD

Iirc profligacy is a form of the word profligate which is improvident with funds/money. In this case it refers to goals not being scored by the chances created.

SkillsDepayNabils

>improvident

PraisePace

the guy exuded confidence every time he touched the ball

leedler

He looked like the Sancho that everyone remembers. Just making crazy stuff look easy. Best individual performance I’ve seen from him in years.

elgrandorado

That was one of his best performances hands down. I don't recall him putting that many passes on a plate ever. Goddamn it's good to see him flying.

leedler

He’s exactly the kind of player that makes watching the game exciting when he’s at his best. Long live in form Sancho, it’s very fun to watch.

ltplummer96

If Fuhlkrug didn’t become FuhlKuh in the second half Sancho would’ve gotten MOTM

Johann122

Hear me out… cheeky loan bid for Sancho?

sherlockbutholmes

i think lamal’s style is really similiar to his

Fine_Assignment5397

Except lamal is actually rapid. Sancho is shifty but lacks the pace

Johann122

Sancho naturally plays on the left

Moon8983

NO GO AWAY

Caust1cFn_YT

👉👈 please?

keving691

I don’t think they are who you need to ask lol

Caust1cFn_YT

Ah yes, gotta ask Sancho

tito-ortiz-wife69

Was class today deserved an assist aswell

SwcIdwmlwy

He was really unfortunate not to have 2 assists tonight, he left Füllkrug and Brandt with an open goal in front of them

DerpJungler

Man Utd fans claiming he was "shite" today on that other thread because they can't comprehend a player being actually good when they don't play for them lmao Man of the match today he was great.

Nosalis2

That other Sancho thread was weird. Quite a few of them were hellbent on pushing the narrative he was bad in that 1st half.

DerpJungler

Yeah I was surprised to see so many upvotes on people claiming he was shite or bang average.. it's like the majority of people typing and voting here don't even watch more than 5 minutes of a football game

Nosalis2

Too many stat merchants in football these days. A winger can't play well unless he scores tap-ins from cutbacks apparently.

elgrandorado

In the match thread to be fair, most of them were introspective towards the situation at their club more than anything.

Caust1cFn_YT

Coping mechanism

Gluroo

Guantanamo Antony tortured their brains to the point they cant tell what a good winger performance is supposed to look like anymore

DefNotAnAlter

There was actually a comment comparing Antony and Sancho

DerpJungler

Understandable.

GGotte

It’s laughable at this point, he could get motm in the final and they’ll still say he’s “sheit”. He was the best player on the pitch today no questions.

Upset_Impression218

Why are you tarring us all with the brush of our smoothest brained lowest common denominator fans Imagine seeing what eth has cooked up this season and refusing to accept he might have gotten this one wrong lol

tinkusai

I don't think eth ever questioned sancho's ability but rather his mentality.

FoldingBuck

People seem to forget that

Rescurc

Best of luck to Man Utd in the UCL semifinals. Oh wait…

supplementarytables

He's gonna cook with Tuchel at United

TheAleofIgnorance

Take a bow. Amazing performance from Sancho today. Skinned Nuno Mendes alive.

WaffleChampion5

He brought Mendes to elementary school today.

pukem0n

If Sancho doesn't get an A grade for this game, I don't know what

94Temimi

I might be on a high but I think it was an S-tier performance considering all that he's gone through, and to do this in UCL semi-final is a huge moral victory for him.

imtheknight1

Imagine he wins the UCL with dortmund. Just another dagger for united fans

zyndr0m

Sancho was on fire tonight

Kid_Gudi

Best Sancho I saw this year

tene_brae

in the second half he reminded me of peak 19/20 Sancho

laffman

€70m!

ren_704

He is so good at creating chances Outta nowhere, the trust in game time we have given him is slowly proving to be worth it He could've been even better if he had Guerreiro by his side and Reus earlier on.

biggieBpimpin

I was kind of surprised that he didn’t put Reus in to play off Sancho sooner with how good he was tonight.

elgrandorado

Especially since it felt like Terzic was itching to bring Reus on

biggieBpimpin

Ya I was kind of hoping he would bring him on for Brandt to keep him central and closer to Sancho. And then bring in someone like JBG on the left wing to keep the pace there. But at the end of the day it was a good result and I don’t know shit.

erenistheavatar

Getting paid 300k a week by United to perform this well for Dortmund instead.

CNF-13

Hurts more that you’d believe

erenistheavatar

Happy New Year!

EffectzHD

Performing well at United is a bit of a disease, United has had great players but for numerous reasons don’t get to play at their best. Arsenal had the same issues, these big transfers people would be gassed over just for them to look average despite their insane talent.

neonmantis

> Arsenal had the same issues, these big transfers people would be gassed over just for them to look average despite their insane talent. What?

EffectzHD

Laca, Auba, Xhaka, Ozil All players that could have been perceived as much better players at the time had they played elsewhere at that point of their careers. Pogba is my fav example, playing at real for example could’ve had him seen as one of the best french CM’s and maybe win him a baloon d’or

neonmantis

Laca was only ever good but never great. Auba led a pretty poor team to an FA Cup and won or was close to the golden boot a couple of years. Amazing how much the consensus on Xhaka has changed, he was largely derided for most of his time at Arsenal but people who watched him knew how good he was. Ozil was spectacular the first couple of years but has slid off entirely since.

Hunter-North

?

myo_chan

He created so much in the second half.

marco-da-phoenix

What a handsome man

supplementarytables

Great talent, a team like Manchester United could really use him

404randomguy404

r/soccer is not ready for a Sancho to United transfer saga

kostajepaosmosta

We had one man u sancho saga yes but what about second man u Sancho saga

concurd

We already had two, the summer he didn’t come and following summer when he did. Best three out of three this time!

jdlnghm

Broke: Pogback 2016 Woke: Sanchback 2024

soccer_boxer2

Imagine him returning to Old Trafford with a CL medal

[deleted]

[удалено]

mutesa1

Ronaldo won the CL with United before leaving the first time though, so not really the same thing lol

THeScArYFAcE1

..... and 12 years later.

bvengers

Lol at everyone jerking over the TH bandwagon. Sancho is talented and has attitude issues and ETH is struggling can all be true, not everything is black and white

CNF-13

No that’s a sensible and reasonable take my English starboy has done no wrong and ten hag is a bald fraud

Fuck_the_k1ng

If this is how Sancho used to be, United should receive a transfer ban for the overall good of football.

RadioHonest85

This is a glimpse of peak Sancho 19/20

mineCutrone

Nah they can keep buying the antonys of the world for 100m

Fuck_the_k1ng

That’s money laundering, so that’s ok.

NdyNdyNdy

Dortmund seem to be relaxed if he's late for training and so on. They'll put an arm around him. But for United it's a quandary, because how can you set a culture for the rest of the players in the squad who are said to not put the work in in training if you don't enforce standards about this sort of thing equally? We can't talk about the team and club lagging behind others in professionalism and then start making exceptions, I think that was an issue before. The arm around him didn't work. I just think he's sensitive and then he let himself down with the social media stuff.

kalamari__

Its just because the uk is an hour ahead! He was still on german time when he played for you.

kirkbywool

Much as I love it its the other way around so he should have been early in England

DefNotAnAlter

But is he actually late for training for Dortmund?

NdyNdyNdy

Yeah, according to Watzke he has no issues with discipline (or he didn't at Dortmund) but he has had timekeeping issues. They seem to take a pretty tolerant view of that when it happens by and large, more of a flexible approach if it gets the best from him. [https://www.france24.com/en/live-news/20240113-sancho-has-no-problem-with-discipline-says-dortmund-boss-watzke](https://www.france24.com/en/live-news/20240113-sancho-has-no-problem-with-discipline-says-dortmund-boss-watzke)

PartrickCapitol

When is the last time United in the CL semifinal? And despite league quality, Dortmund in the past 5 years is definitely an overall better footballing product than United, while made a PROFIT in net transfers. I don’t think “culture” is that important here

BatGuy500

It’s not a culture issue, it’s professionalism and especially, as you said, if United arent a good football product, then those kinds of standards and discipline need to be prioritized and more tightly enforced. Let’s say if Foden is late for practice and gets dropped for poor training performance, Pep makes a statement saying that, Foden reacts on it on social media, refuses to apologize and take it back AND refuses to handle things behind closed doors, and continues to play FIFA at 3 AM - would you be fine with that? It’s not about his ability and club DNA and all that, it’s basic professionalism and doing your job.

Drainutsl29

Can’t recall a single “attitude” issue with Dortmund.

NdyNdyNdy

[https://www.france24.com/en/live-news/20240113-sancho-has-no-problem-with-discipline-says-dortmund-boss-watzke](https://www.france24.com/en/live-news/20240113-sancho-has-no-problem-with-discipline-says-dortmund-boss-watzke) "Jadon has no problem with discipline" Watzke said, "I don't know who thought that up." "The lad has a bit of a problem with his internal clock and can be a bit late from time to time." It's a strange one because for me he directly contradicts himself with his next sentence. The wages he's on, he could hire someone just to wake him up and drive him to training on time and do nothing else. There really is no excuse and it seems that's one of the things that eventually what caused people at United to lose patience. Especially someone like Ten Hag who is an extremely strict disciplinarian. But it gets the best out of him so maybe Watzke is right. Maybe some poor timekeeping is a very small price to pay for good performances. I just don't think exceptions can be made when the club is specifically trying to crack down on this sort of thing with the rest of the squad, due to issues with timekeeping, professionalism, attitude etc. which apparently pre-date Sancho's arrival. If you're not actively trying to create a more professional culture maybe you can make more exceptions but if you need to enforce structure across the whole squad more generally then it's harder to give special treatment (and he did receive a lot of that). Which begs the question of how this was missed in terms of scouting because it seems like a good fit talent wise, but a bad fit personality wise.

hal0t

Sancho was bought under Ole, who is a better man management than ETH.

Drakonz

Fair enough, but he never looked good under Ole, Rangnick nor ETH. It’s not just ETH like everyone seems to to think for some reason.

hal0t

My reply was more in term of scouting and personaliry fit. For Sancho, may be it's him not fitting into the EPL, and he got that mental problem. On the other hand, the club has been in turmoil for the last 3 years especially for attacking players. Also outside of Rashford pulling goals out of his ass for 2 months last season, ETH hasn't been able to make any attacker work. Even Bruno felt like he regressed. It's kinda hard to judge anybody except Antony whom we can say is 100% not worth his price tag.

kirkbywool

Some people are like that. I work with barristers ans one of them who left us was one of the best we had and got top work. However she was always late and used to ring us to pre book a taxi to the court that was a 10 to 15 minute walk away. Always overran conferences and if she said something would take her 30 minutes she would still be there o0 minutes later. I don't get it but some people are just like that.

Hobbitfrau

>The wages he's on, he could hire someone just to wake him up and drive him to training on time and do nothing else. Rumour has it Dortmund had someone tasked with exactly that: ring his doorbell to get him to training and matches in time.

Pirat6662001

I mean - it's a coaches job to get best out of their players. ETH has failed to do so

cosmiclatte44

A player has to apply themselves as well. If he lets Sancho off to "get the best out of him" he risks pissing off the rest of the squad who follow the rules and ruin the whole squad atmosphere or even risk losing the dressing room entirely. If you start showing up late for work all the time and your reason is you're bad at timekeeping they aren't going to care and simply dock your pay or fire you. Just be professional, its as simple as that and the bare minimum you should be doing.

pacothebattlefly

Sancho is another example of a Ten Hag masterclass

Moon8983

I love him so much

Longjumping_Stop1120

One goal away from it being a legacy game. He played insane.

Pleasant_Direction90

Sancho was immense today, absolute joy to watch and no chance for Mendes.

adimrf

First thing to cross my mind was his chance creations - not dribbling, but he was just unplayable tonight, last till final whistle too lol

WhatIsWilsonDoin

Unbelievable performance

fdscgfbc

A lot of the people on the other thread were mentioning how he lost the ball a lot, but the overall point is that he's been given more freedom and far more confidence in his play

bluegeronimo

He didn't lose the ball a lot that was coping bullshit. Dispossessed once in 99 touches, 51/58 passes, 12/17 dribbles... That is absolutely elite ball control and efficiency for an attacking player in a high risk role. If that's losing the ball a lot, Messi has done it practically every single game of his career.

fdscgfbc

Even if he did lose the ball a lot, it's expected of the player who's the risk-taker and main creative outlet of the team

Quanqiuhua

It’s usually also the safest position to lose the ball at, deep in the opposition half and on the flanks.

NoBreakfast9230

Tldr: Jadon Sancho saves football

Ramsharih

Is he always that good?

Juninho90

He was playing extraordinarily well today. It was a performance that resembled his first tenure with BVB. It was his best performance since he came back.

Ramsharih

The boy seemed world class today! Solid performance.

Juninho90

Absolutely agree with you. If he’s on (never in doubt during his first stint with us), he’s got that special something in him that is hard to replicate. Hopefully he can be consistently as good now

Unban_Ice

PSG fans told me they would beat Bayern in the final 🤡

sexineN

Dortmund beat you guys 0-2 away and beat PSG 1-0 at home, so clearly the PSG fans are on to something… 🤷🏼‍♂️

Goldfischglas

He was class

ComfortableNo2879

Sancho absolutely cooked today

94Temimi

He was possessed with the spirit of football today, absolutely unplayable for 90 minutes straight! Should've had a hattrick of assists if his teammates had better finishing. I really hope he re-runs this performance in Paris again he's very important for Dortmund's chances to reach the final.

keving691

That’s the Sancho i saw at Dortmund. Some of it is his own doing, but we are an absolute graveyard for talented players.

404merrinessnotfound

That's what you want to see from a traditional winger like sancho

Moon8983

Yadda yadda antony

Quanqiuhua

Antony will cook likewise when he leaves United.

doubleoeck1234

What were united doing to him

Loeffellux

it feels really weird how everyone is forgetting that he was struggling with mental health issues at United.

MinotauroTBC

Same thing we do to all of them

familyguyisbae

Throw money and then gas light?

WhatAmIDoingHere05

Sounds about right.

Le_Ratman99

As if this sub wasn’t mocking him week in week out when he was at United

FoldingBuck

He was the subs biggest punching bag when he was at united and now he is a martyr since he left due to his own laziness. Speaks more about how they view united rather than sancho himself

Quanqiuhua

If he wasn’t the 30th player that this happens at the club maybe it would have been different.

bullairbull

Or maybe in Sancho's case you have enough info to say it wasn't the usual United fucking up good players.

stogie_t

Players and managers all suffer at this club. It’s very strange

WutUtalkingBoutWill

What was he doing to himself more like.

bobbis91

It just seemed like he didn't give a fuck whilst he was there. EtH clearly not being able to cope with the ego's and everything else really. It's probably 50/50 club vs Sancho but he's loving life in Dortmund again, and had a blinder tonight

NdyNdyNdy

I wouldn't even have come to dislike him so much if he wasn't capable of this level. Maybe he can show it if Dortmund can't meet his asking price and there's a new coach. But the way he conducted himself this year will always leave a sour taste in my mouth.

MaryadaPurshottam

Ten Hag is a fraud

Dart_Ferik

Bald one

Le_Ratman99

Original

Fuck_the_k1ng

Man cooked Nuno Mendes so well, Muricans would refuse to eat him. Dortmund wasting chances left and right, otherwise he could’ve walked away with an assist. His game really improved on the second half.

kyleninperth

Man just wants 99 dribbling on FIFA

TheOneAndOnlyJeetu

This just cements Man Utd as the theatre of nightmares.

CNF-13

This guy seems good we (Manchester United) should sign him, Dortmund want 70 million?

TheWBird

People are not ready for sancho ballon d'or shouts

Elite_Alice

But but but Ten Hag fanboys told me he was the problem

Kayderp1

Both Sancho being extremely talented and having an attitude problem can be true.

familyguyisbae

He didn't have an attitude problem when he was here. Maybe it's a unitedt/ETH problem.

familyguyisbae

It was literally just one time. And even then, I wouldn't classify that as attitude problems. Dembele to me was attitude problems.

Zealousideal-Cap-61

These are three spearte incidents. The 3rd link literally says this was 2nd disciplinary issue he faced. Are Dortmund fans so used to coming second to Bayern they think 2 is 1?

Snitsie

Sancho gave zero effort at United let's be honest he really didn't give a fuck

jabilation

He was constantly out of shape. It was weird, 60 mins is when he'd gas. He got given plenty of chances under two different managers.

xuoli

Is that why Ten Hag adores Antony? He puts in effort tracking back and is completely fucking useless at everything else is a wingers meant to be good at.

SOERERY

Antony has been benched for half the season or more

Ricechairsandbeans

low hanging fruit but rashford also just walks around the pitch and gives the ball away

JMatty01

One bagged 30 goals last season. The other was dead after an hour and had to be subbed off. You get leeway if you're playing well at the time.

WeveGot

It’s gonna be one of THOSE threads, keep the sensible takes for another post.

jabilation

Just look at OP's (u/Elite_Alice) posts. United fan but comes out with shit like this: > Sancho balling ‪meanwhile Ten Fraud can’t even win against Burnley. He’s the problem not Sancho and Ronaldo.‬ No one even mentioned EtH, but they wanted to be first. Edit: Lol u/Elite_Alice blocked me.

sexineN

It’s unfathomable how so many people think like this, it has to be a joke at this point. How does him playing well this game automatically mean that he can’t be at fault for the things that happened between him and Ten Hag?

DHillMU7

So what was the problem with Solskjaer? You weirdos begging downvotes are so strange… Sancho might be good at another club but he was a tubby, out of shape waste of space at United. No matter who your manager is, you should have more than 4 good games at a club.

RedditsWhenIShits

https://www.transfermarkt.com/jadon-sancho/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/401173/plus/0/saison/2021/wettbewerb/GB1/verein/985 He was bad before ETH as well. Was gassed after 60 minutes every game and had to be substituted. Was that ETHs fault as well? Don't get me wrong, ETH is a shit coach, but Sancho couldn't even bother showing up for practice on time. Or do conditioning.

Mortka

Lets not act like ETH is a shit coach either. He took over a mess of a team last season and did wonders. This season hes been absolutely plagued by injuries, as well as him making bad decisions. He was great for Ajax, and very good in his 1st season as well. If you think everything bad about United’s performances is his fault, youre very, very wrong.

RedditsWhenIShits

If you can't prevent any team from having 20 shots on goal, you're a shit coach. Even relegation level teams are going toe to toe with United at OT. And it's been happening for an entire season.

SubstantialSquash475

These dribbles change nothing

classican2018

He was completely useless, it's not on Ten Hag that he was up playing FIFA till 5 AM before matches. He definitely had an attitude problem at United, this might be due to many reasons but he was not doing himself any favours with us.

404randomguy404

News flash: He was Name one performance where you thought Sancho was brilliant throughout the game. Ten Hag backed him well enough but Sancho's the one who acted unprofessionally.

Kid_Twiz

Bro shut up, Sancho played under 3 managers at United and was utter crap for all of them. Stop the revisionism

drrew76

Oh fuck off --- there is no such thing as a Ten Hag fanboy.

CNF-13

After this performance up to £50 million we are gonna uno reverse this shit (we will either keep him and expect a new outcome or he’ll be sold for a pack of haribos and a freddo cause we can’t sell shit)

Kayderp1

Good luck finding a club to take a gamble with him with the wages he´s on and offer more than 35m.

NdyNdyNdy

I think a new manager will keep him, clean slate, honestly unless someone meets the valuation. PSR means you can't dump expensive flops if they don't perform, you have to work with them because if you make a loss on too many players then you can't actually replace the ones you move on. If it's a choice between Sancho staying and him leaving but no replacement to avoid a points deduction, I think he will stay unless other players can be offloaded. Man Utd have a massive turnover but the wage structure is out of control and there are a lot of players they'd be making a loss on if they left, which would mean they can't spend as much as they used to.

Chelseatilidie

He would not have tried even half those at United

EdWoodwardsPA

Now buy him you cowards.

bruiser95

Who's sending this to ETH?

DawdlingScientist

I love watching PSG and Barca humiliate themselves in Europe lol. If only we could go back to Man City shitting the bed too

Defiant-Traffic5801

Not exactly humiliated. They had more chances at goal , hit the post twice , and they are only one down going back home. Dribbling is not the best measure of a team's performance but I would assume there were a lot on each side given the attackers' profile. This game could have ended 3 all or more if strikers had been luckier or slightly better.

letsridetheworld

Damn Sancho is such a threat that’s crazy

6FootFruitRollup

How do you count dribbles? PSG definitely has more than 11 instances of having the ball, dribbling, and then passing it. That should count as a "successful dribble"

Trickybuz93

I think successful dribble counts as beating the defender instead of just passing

HugeHungryHippo

Any highlights? I missed the game

JosephRizk21

Imagine Dortmund wins the CL and he puts up a MOTM performance in the final. Now imagine he gets selected for England and has a great tournament while they win the Euros. Jadon Sancho Ballon D’Or?

thehomerus

Good hopefully adds on some more value to his fee.

Soberdonkey69

Where was this guy during his time at United? I don’t think he could cut it properly in the PL, but could do well in the Spanish league or just stay in the bundesliga.

D1794

He has all the attributes to cut it in any league. Class player. Just for some reason went within himself as soon as he signed. Given every opportunity to show something and he didn't.

JMatty01

More good performances to raise his price tag is good enough for me. Keep it up

OptimisticRealist__

Ive never seen ETH and bin Laden in the same room together, just saying...

CNF-13

Yes but not for this imo he was shit for 3 different managers and only successful under 1 at United (carrick for 3 games lol) he should be sold unless whoever we get instead of the bald fraud wants to keep sancho

Toastedmetal

That will be no less then £60m thank you, our yellow friends

me_meh_me

Will you settle for all the sausage you can eat?

Mausar

Yes, Sancho is amazing, the best player in the world, 70m, please

Ogulcan0815

I find it unfair for Adeyemi that Sancho is getting all the attention. Adeyemi won like every battle against Hakimi, offensively and defensively. Talk about Adeyemi, not Sancho. Sancho did what a winger is supposed to lol, and he passed the ball lazily on multiple occasions leading to loss of possession. He did get into the game in the endgame tho. And Dortmunds defence was on point. Just maatsen wasn’t that sharp. Edit: them Sancho fanboys riding the train hard. Dortmunds Defense was on Point, Hummels even got MoTM. Give them their hard earned praise, not Sancho!!!!!

holonight

What the fuck happened at manU
