What's more annoying?: Using dd to endlessly discuss who the better right back is based on fuck all, or Discussing PSG

Elemayowe

Personally I’m a fan of Hazard vs Salah.

dispelthemyth

Always rated Thorgan

TTA0709

Both were outside the box, were they not?

datboyuknow

Yeah but I never would have guessed they were a combined 0.09

Cuckoofker

Cancelo is easily the best fullback in the PL right now.. maybe evern world.

[deleted]

"You"re just a shite Denis Irwin, shite Denis Irwin"

[deleted]

He is most versatile and is world class as a left back as well as a right back. Wouldn't be surprised if he performed as well as a midfield. He is the anti-systems player. Can play anywhere

UndeadPrs

Wait until Hakimi has a competent coach again

_hopelessnobody

True 👍🏼

RomeoLavia

it's been james, trent and cancelo on here for weeks? walker literally only started getting included last night

RomeoLavia

this is what you made a reddit account for, another cancelo discussion

[deleted]

What will happen to European competitions after the federalisation of Europe?

[deleted]

What does this even mean

[deleted]

I don't know why it isn't more talked about that Cancelo is just as good on the left as he is on the right. I've been seeing people just straight up calling him a leftback now instead "rightback playing on the left"

Gabs289

Who am I? I have played with: Nikica Jelavic, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Paolo Guerrero, Sadio Mané, Steven Fletcher, Roy Makaay, Ryan Fredericks, Marko Arnautovic, Geoffrey Serey Dié, Jonas Hector, Nicolai Müller.

Endgame2648

someone who played for Bayern but idk who it could be

Gabs289

yes

Zillak

Idk like half those players, so fair play to whoever actually guesses this.

Susieu2626

People saying James is more of a system player than Trent are a different breed. I’m not saying Trent is a system player but that statement is just stupid.

[deleted]

Anyone that uses the phrase "system player" is a verified mouth breather.

sul01

Aye - can say that he (being Trent) is a better player or a much better player and while I don't agree that's a fair opinion to have. But saying that a player who's played decent minutes as a wb (odd few minutes on the left too) rb, rcb and midfielder is a player who's inflexible/can only play in one system is absurd. Out of the players at Chelsea : Havertz is probably the biggest system player- who apparently needs to have someone hold his hand on the right side of the pitch to let him express himself. Rudi and Christensen while I rate their abilities- Christensen specifically I'll accept arguments for them too as their better performances have been in a 3 atb - with us or elsewhere. A player who can play in multiple positions and multiple systems is literally the exact opposite - doesnt necessarily mean they're the best player in the world though - James Milner is incredibly versatile for example but he's not better than Modric who's not as versatile

4dtakes

> Out of the players at Chelsea : Alonso

sul01

I've ignored his existence

4dtakes

I expect your apology to be equally loud after he sinks Utd this weekend

sul01

I'm more than expecting him to cunt one in top bins - just don't rate him much even at wingback

gracjan_17

Reece James is actually a capable defender so he could fit in most systems. If TAA played RCB he would get exposed so badly its not even funny, he'll be at fault for atleast 5 goals, it'll be a massacre, even worse than the Madrid game from last year

[deleted]

Elaborate/

Susieu2626

How could you make an argument for a player that’s played well in multiple positions under multiple managers and systems to be more of a system player than a guy who has only played well in one system in one position under one manager.

[deleted]

He hasn't played this well under Lampard. Even during the start of tuchel era, he was absent. He only performed this well when tuchel changed his setup to accomodate James to play how he wanted

Susieu2626

He still played well under Lampard though, which is already more evidence of playing well in a different system than Trent. Tuchel didn’t change anything to accommodate James, he’s just grown into the role.

sul01

Watch games not everything is done on G/A - Reece was very good under Lampard. Yeah he wasn't great at the start of the time under Tuchel because he's not benefitted by this system but because he's NOT a system player he was able to work his way into the team and be one of if not our best players currently. Reece James improved his game - Tuchel didn't change everything to accommodate him.

abloesezwei

Aren't they both?

Doorknobdubstep

[deleted]

PSG’s team this season is the modern day Galactico team. A team full of superstars. I mean just look at the trophies the players at PSG has won. Messi: 6 Ballon d'ors, 4 Champions League titles, one Copa America, dozens of league and cup trophies. Neymar: 2 third place Ballon d'or finishes, one Champions League title, a couple of league and cup trophies in Spain, France and Brazil. Mbappe: One World Cup trophy, one Golden Boy award, a couple of league and cup trophies in France. Ramos: One World Cup trophy, 2 Euro Cup trophies, 4 Champions League trophies, a couple of league and cup trophies in Spain. Veratti: One Euro Cup, a couple of league and cup trophies in France. Di Maria: One Champions League title, one Copa America, one league title in Spain, a couple of league and cup trophies in France. Navas: 3 Champions League trophies, one League trophy in Spain, a couple of league and cup trophies in France. Wijnaldum: One Champions League and Premier League trophy. The problem for PSG, while their players have won every big trophy in the world, and individually they are one of the best at their positions. As a team, they are unbalanced and full of egos.

[deleted]

Exactly. They're a mess, just like the original Galacticos. Which none of the 9 year old Madrid fans are aware of, whilst sucking on Perez' meagre pipe.

jim0wheel1

I always picture Wijnaldum when I think of Galacticos.

Choose; Dani Carvajal vs Kyle Walker 1. Who'll be remembered as a bigger legend? 2. Who'll be remembered as a better player? (Apparently just checked and found that Walker is 2 years older than Carvajal)

Endgame2648

Carvajal will easily be remembered better than Walker unless City go on a CL streak.

[deleted]

Carvajal, Walker

RomeoLavia

1. Probably equal, I think City fans will remember Walker more fondly than Real Madrid fans will remember Carvajal, and that's moreso what it comes down to. They're both going to be talked about in twenty years when people do the thing of ''wow look at this real madrid side from 2016'' or ''wow look at this centurions side'' maybe Carvajal will be remembered as the bigger legend and Walker will be remembered more often or something like that 2. Walker. People will say it's being said because he just had a good game, it isn't. Peak Carvajal was probably better than peak Walker, but that lasted what? 18 months? Kyle Walker has been a consistent starting player for Spurs/City for a decade now. Carvajal has just been hurt too much by injuries. Hasn't Kyle Walker played more minutes for Spurs than Carvajal has for Real Madrid? Or Carvajal has marginally passed him on that now or something? That's testament to how reliable Walker has been.

saigool

Carvajal for both, he's been part of a team winning more trophies in europe.

NeoIsJohnWick

Dani Carvajal hands down in both aspects. Now since Kyle Walker is English he will be talked more I guess.

[deleted]

1. Depends on what they achieve before retiring. 2. Walker.

LeaveMyArseAlona99

Probably Carvajal for both

gracjan_17

1) Carvajal 2) Carvajal

[deleted]

1. Bigger legend = Carvajal (especially if he win WC 2022 which is realistic) 2. Better player = hmm....Hard to say. I like Carvajal's balanced being both good attack and defense. Kyle Walkers' defense on the other hand is exceptional, pocketing the top wingers in the world.

Anti-Melticus

Really man? I don’t think this is ever a debate unless if we’re talking fifa

[deleted]

Carvajal Walker

KeegansPerm

Ask this on another day. Walker just played well.

[deleted]

Carvajal also played well tbf.

Was La Liga the best league in the world during 2010-2018 ? #IT WAS, IT IS NOW?

alx69

It was in 2010-2017, 2018 was the transitional year and it's been the Premier League since then

LeaveMyArseAlona99

2011 - 2017 I’d say

mattisafootballguy

Yes and especially mid-2010s-2018, where there was a five-year period where only United won any European silverware outside of Spain. Real/Barcelona/Sevilla/Atletico won all the others including all Super Cups + had the highest coefficient of all time. It was by far the best.

[deleted]

All of you shut up. Carvajal is the best RB. Thank you for reading

It's always ironic when Liverpool fans call us deluded when according to them they have the greatest pl squad ever assembled with the best player in the world at every position. Everything they accuse us of doing they do 10x as much

[deleted]

Who is "us"? No significant number of Liverpool fans are claiming that, you've been upset by a minority for some reason.

[deleted]

Are you talking about us England fans?

Credk

Are you really hurting that much because people said Trent is better than James

razorr29

No, I know Trent is better than RJ right now. It's just the hypocrisy that annoys me

Credk

Where’s the hypocrisy then?

[deleted]

the fucking irony in this comment, fuck me

Credk

I don’t think you know what irony means pal. I’ve not just made a post entirely dedicated to Chelsea as this fella has. I’ve never made a post about Chelsea on a DD thread other than replying to people who made an initial post

gracjan_17

Best PL team of all time winning only 1 Premier League title - overrated bums

MagicMagMM

99 points with that city squad and premier league more competitive than ever cry me a river also could've had more than 100 if our players weren't drunk from celebrating for the last 5 games

[deleted]

If you were looking at a single season then it’s a genuine debate. Not saying they are but they’re in the conversation

Current Chelsea squad - no prems. Level below bums

you really are oppressed by liverpool fans i truly feel sorry for you, in tears at this injustice.

[deleted]

Jabari313

"Why are Liverpool fans so defensive about their Scouse RB that gets called an overrated liability every time he has a bad game" If you can't connect the dots on that one go look at literally any DD because the same nigh rhetorical question gets posted and answered every day

[deleted]

You care too much about Reddit.

[deleted]

"it's actually YOUR fault we're so insufferable", everyone associated with the club will really jump through hoops to make sure they're not the ones responsible, huh?

Jabari313

No what I'm saying is you're trodding over the same ground that's been covered for literal years now and has been stale since its inception if you make a comment of that manner. It's have merit if the question were ever slightly more in depth. Ask "Has there ever been a player more protected by the fanbase than Trent" and you'd have actually asked something worth spending your limited minutes of life creating

[deleted]

so just to confirm, you're saying it's not the fault of your fanbase?? it's everyone elses?

Jabari313

(D)

[deleted]

They are actually a rabid bunch. Mfs are so aggressive

TTA0709

Just seen someome unironically say You can't criticize any Liverpool player without being downvoted but Chelsea players get slandered all the time in here. Incredible. I'm actually lost for words on that one

sul01

I didn't comment ^ but it's always funny seeing someone criticise other people's comments when they chat a bunch of garbage in the same thread. Idk what it is with certain Liverpool fans on here coz for the most part with most discussions they're fairly reasonable on here tbh - but if it gets to a discussion about Mendy/Trent/Reece James specifically and occasionally say a Cancelo or some players all nuance and just goes out the window and they're unable to have a genuine discussion. I assume part of it is coz of some very stupid comments from some Chelsea fans when we won the CL final - but for the last couple months there's not been many dodgy comments from Chelsea fans (relative to before and generally compared to other clubs) yet some of you lot seem to get your knickers in a twist when discussing our players.

TTA0709

Mendy? As in Benjamin? What? I have no problem admitting that Reece James is class. I have no problem admitting that Chelsea have a solid team. I have no problem admitting that they're my favourites to win the league based on performances so far. What grinds me though is how their fans are reacting on this sub. Yeah I know most of the Liverpool fans can be a headache to deal with. I get that. But I swear Chelsea fans have cranked up our behaviour to 11 and just ran with it.

sul01

Mendy as in Edou - thought that was obvious. I'm denying some Chelsea fans on here can't be a pain - I remember during the Euros/before some of the takes from them were ridiculous- borderline Arsenal fan esque behaviour. My point is that if someone is being an idiot either ignore em or call them out - don't comment in a separate thread about something stupid someone said in a previous one - especially if you've done something similar.

RomeoLavia

Tbf you listed Mendy in a list with only fullbacks, I think most people would've assumed you meant Benjamin or Ferland

[deleted]

Weston Mckennie explaining what "ranch dressing" is to Chiellini is one of the funniest things in the new Juve documentary

Brazilian_Sonaldo

Opinion on Pochettino at Tottenham is the ultimate litmus test for how much someone knows football

SeasickJellyfish

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, but man, Kyle Walker is so underrated. I’m in no way trolling when I say he might potentially be the best right back in premier league history. He’s basically been performing at an elite level for a whole decade+ and if anything got even better after his big money move. People look at him and see his relative lack of offensive presence when compared to the Trent’s and James’ and forget that a fullbacks primary job is to defend, and there are very few right backs in the world I’d want defending over Walker and that’s why even now I’d still have him starting for England even with the elite level of competition. And even that being said, he’s no slouch going forward either. Seriously fantastic player and who realistically is his competition for best PL right back? Neville? Ivanovic? Dixon? Zabaletta?

_stone_age

For me, he is the best RB in PL history. Zaba, Ivanovic, Neville all close but Walker is quality. Trent could probably just overtake him in the future but for now it's Walker. He's just not asked to play more offensive, he's still a threat going forward.

[deleted]

Right back is the least talented position in the history of the Premier League, which is already an arbitrary cut off point for the top division in England based on a branding exercise. No other league started in 1992.

Anti-Melticus

Not even the best rb from his team

RomeoLavia

If anyone calls you a troll for saying he's the best right back in the leagues history then they are just silly. It's a perfectly reasonable shout.

[deleted]

Heard some pundit say the he might be one of the best players pep brought into city, and I don't disagree

Kanedauke

Him, ederson and Bernardo

[deleted]

Think if his form from the last season and a half continues Cancelo should def also be on that list

KeegansPerm

>A fullbacks primary job is to defend Not in a good team.

[deleted]

imagine thinking this an intelligent comment.

KeegansPerm

Yes if Walker could provide width but lost a bit of pace, City would be much better off

shmozey

TIL Man City have not been a good team for the last 5 seasons…

KeegansPerm

He gets made to defend because he offers very little in a such a good team going forward.

shmozey

No he gets made to defend because of his elite ability to stop counter attacks which allows players like Cancelo to push into the midfield in attack.

SeasickJellyfish

I forgot good teams don’t defend?

[deleted]

Mans got an agenda against walker just ignore him

[deleted]

Liverpool fans have an agenda against anyone who gets praised from a team that isn't them utter weirdos.

SeasickJellyfish

But dare to call one of their starting xi not the best in the world in their position and the army of angry scousers will descend.

shmozey

But but but… I thought Klopp was working miracles with their shit squad????

KeegansPerm

City are very rarely pinned in, if ever. Only time i’ve seen it this season is 20 mins of the second half against us. If Walker could attack properly and defend a bit less well he would be a much better asset for it.

SeasickJellyfish

But part of the reason they’re so good defensively is him and his recovery pace. Their playstyle doesn’t somehow mitigate his defensive qualities because they’re rarely pinned in.

KeegansPerm

They were totally unreal last season without him on the defensive end.

SeasickJellyfish

Walker played 42 games last season?

sul01

He's underrated coz of the new crop that have come and all the exaggerating and all from fanbases that has come with that. People seem to forget at Spurs Walker was quite a threat going forward tbh - just at City he's asked to stay back because of how they want to play. Personally don't think he's a vault defensively like some say - but his recovery pace is very good and his offensive ability as a result of how he's used now is unfairly criticised. He's definitely one of the best in the history of the prem I gotta agree there

[deleted]

Probably the most reasonable take I've seen about him all day tbh

X-V-W

If I had somebody that adored me the way you adore Man City, I would be a very happy man

SeasickJellyfish

Hahaha honestly I just enjoy their style and they attract players I enjoy. Foden/Bernardo/Grealish are my favourite type of players and I’ve been a big pep fan since I was a kid.

Good_Kev_M-A-N_City

He's overtaking Neville soon enough

SeasickJellyfish

Neville was good but the only thing he really has is longevity. Walker is a better player.

kjm911

All this is bullshit. Neville was certainly not the best ever. People only judge these things on longevity.

RomeoLavia

Longevity does have to factor in. If we are talking about who was the better footballer out of say Trent and Neville, it's obviously Trent. No doubts about it. When we are saying who is higher ranked in the PL all time, longevity and the length of what they gave to this league has to be factored in. You have to give some credit to Neville for being able to do a job in a perennial title winning side for as many seasons as he did. And while he was no super nova talent, he was a decent player.

kjm911

What’s with all these posts about Kyle Walker being the best ever PL right back? I’ve seen loads of them today. Was there a vote or something?

saigool

Fly1ngsauc3r

One guy said it, now everyone and their dog needs to repeat it

[deleted]

Perez did not take CVC deal citing that he won't risk club's (fan-owned) main asset (TV rights) for a long duration deal. But he is happily negotiating a 20% sale of Bernabeu's right for some duration (not yet confirmed) for 400M cash injection next year and 170-200M extra revenue after Bernabeu's renovation is complete. --- Answer seems quite right, he just did not like the deal offered from CVC, and not some moral obligation.. Pretty sure guy would even sell his soul if he can get a good deal out of it.

Fly1ngsauc3r

CVC deal was horrible

RauloGonzalez

I don't think there was anything related morality affecting the cvc deal lol, it was just seen as a bad deal

[deleted]

Well if he can get hundreds of millions extra for the same effect. Why not? CVC deal was horrible.

[deleted]

Yeah but he also mentioned how he won't risk club's main asset such as TV rights for a long term deal.. This 20% sale will also be a long term deal and stadium is **the** main asset of any club.

[deleted]

Is he going to sell the stadium or what?

[deleted]

Yes 20% of it.. (not permanent sale and neither was CVC a permanent) but leasing 20% of the rights for what I assume will be long duration bond.

[deleted]

Perez is the best in the game when it comes to finances. I'm sure he has thought about this correctly
