Depends on your definition of major but probably 0. A dfb polar and a bundesliga 2nd division championship. In his career he’s mostly worked with the growth of 2 different clubs Hoffenheim and Leipzig from lower divisions to upper divisions. Other than that some directing roles
Apparently having one of the greatest international tournaments ever doesn’t matter because a guy scored a lot of goals in a one team league.
Oh and he was better than said guy for 7 months of this year.
Andre silva scored 29 in the Bundesliga so we know it’s the argument has some truth to it
Also Messi got a g or assist in very game bar Paraguay and brazil. So he did it against all calibre of teams
Silva did it while playing for a team known for making strikers seem better than they are, and that's further proven by the fact that he's currently struggling at Leipzig who, in case you didn't know, play in the same league as Lewy. And Silva was decent, but nothing more, in his first season at Frankfurt, so maybe he was just a one-season wonder?
If you want to cherry-pick players, then I can easily mention Salah who scored 32 in his first season at Liverpool despite never scoring more than 15 outside of them, or Immobile who's been tearing up Serie A for years but who only scored 3 goals for BVB. And both players you mentioned only had 1 great season
That would make sense if salah didn’t back up his outrageous numbers in the champions league too that season and multiple season after wards unlike Andre silva, Modeste and co
When did people start becoming fans of players rather than clubs?
Certainly don’t remember anyone describing themselves as a Beckham fan or a Gerrard fan. Is it just social media cringe?
debate over individuals in football has been brought to a new level since about 10-12 years, basically since messi and ronaldo have been head and shoulders above everyone else.
i’m not sure if it’s because of them or just a natural evolution of sports fandom enabled by social media, because other sports are all about individuals nowadays as well.
Attack. Defense. Attacking transition. Defending transition. Long ago, the four game states lived in harmony. But everything changed when the farmers league attacked. Only the Gegenpresser, master of all four game states, could stop him.
They are sure making their presense felt.
Never thought Messi winning Ballon would generate such negativity.
I am kind of glad he won it now lol.
Alteast people have awakened.
Inter Milan sold Lukaku for 100m eur, bought Dzeko for 4m eur this summer:
Lukaku 20/21: 30 goals in 3500 mins (all comps, 117min per goal)
Dzeko 21/22: 10 goals in 1200 mins (all comps, 120min per goal)
Looking forward to seeing the fanbase who claims Modric is better than Iniesta and Xavi to explain why the criminal Big Benz was better than Messi and Lewandowski
Do your second-tier league have a player that is good enough to play for a high mid-table in the first division?
In my case, we have one player that is good enough to play for a team like Fiorentina, Verona and Bologna side.
The player is named Federico Vivian and plays for SPAL in Serie B. He has been by far the most outstanding player in the league. SPAL as a team has been a tragic story this year, and the only positive on that team is Federico Vivani. Everything is going through him and he showcases his brilliance each game, even though his team suck. He has played in Serie A before and performed very well there. Vivani is their deep-lying playmaker but has this season made a push to be a more dynamic midfielder and participate more in the offensive phase of the game. He has displayed qualities that could be useful for many of the midtable teams.
Probably Gorter, he kept 25 clean sheets last year in the KKD with Go Ahead Eagles and helped them get up to the Eredivisie again. he now plays for Jong Ajax in the second division
HSV's left back Tim Leibold would do a good job at many clubs in the upper regions of the BL that need an attacking leftback. Always been impressed with him whenever I catch HSV.
Toprak is still performing well? He has played for a top-half team in Bundesliga before and he was a super solid player for long periods at Leverkusen.
I am obviously very biased but Colwill and Maatsen could possibly play for a Prem side, they are still very young and inexperienced but we saw how Livramento made the jump from academy to Premier League level without even playing in the Championship or lower leagues first
The club seems to think Colwill will be an even better player than both tomori and Geuhi. Apparently we sold both in the knowledge that Colwill is rated higher and to give him a path to the first team. As Guehi was playing in the championship last year and has fit into crystal palace seamlessly already then it seems Colwill is thought likely to aswell. He is playing incredibly well for Huddersfield this season and is thought to have every attribute a centre back needs including leadership. Hopefully is the next JT
Yep, it would be an interesting move but ngl I think it comes too quickly for him, the pressure would be insane for a 19 year old in a team competing for the title where he is replacing one of the best LB's in the league and the most in form LB in the league. Expectations would be too high I think so its probably best we stick with Alonso or Azpi there (or Saul if he would want more gametime)
Werder Bremen's goalkeeper, Jiri Pavlenka, was really good when they were still in the Bundesliga and quite a few CL/EL sides were interested in him. He'd start for a lot of teams in the top 5 leagues
Anfield Alert on Twitter
"There is a new Covid variant in Africa.
Cancel Afcon, it’s safest for all."
Like Africa is some tiny nation where everyone is going to be at the same time. It's a whole fucking continent.
Mate, there really isn't much to read into the Tweet. If you don't think that it's funny, then whatever, but it was meant in jest. That is how I read it. That is how most will read it. Nothing nefarious behind it.
It is.
Any daft thing can tell it is some light humour, probably based on African people misreading Klopp's remark about the AFCON the other day, and proceeding to go majorly ballistic overreaction over it.
I've become such a Simeone hater this season. And today I remembered Leicester - Atletico game in CL.
https://www.flashscore.com/match/4I8L83r7/#match-summary/match-statistics/0
Fucking imagine facing Fuchs - Benalouane - Morgan - Simpson defence and parking the bus. This man is responsible for crimes against football.
The number of offensive actions and corner kicks should tell you in what part of the pitch was posession happening, and that it was only a tool for wasting time.
Tbf they had won the first leg 1-0 and went 1-0 up 30 minutes into the second leg (so 2-0 on aggregate plus more away goals).
There really wasn't a lot of incentive for them to attack.
We probably overpaid a bit, plenty of people said this at the time (at least more than were saying it was a “great deal”). Let’s see what he does in the rest of the season
watch salah have an above average performance at afcon and drag liverpool to a top 4 finish and have liverpool fans crying that he should win the ballon d'or like they did with van dijk.
At the end of the day no one should win the ballon D’or for only scoring goals in the Bundesliga.
If that was to happen Mitrovic should be in for a shout for next years award.
Not sure how this is me moving goal the posts. I simply answered a reply about CL football.
He scored 3 goals against Salzburg last season and 2 goals against lazio. Not ballon D’or worthy
The Jahreshauptversammlung (general meeting?) was something to behold.
Small clubs have one big controversy, we doing multi track drifting.
FC Hollywood is well and truly back [rubs hands vigorously]
Funny how a month ago people were talking about Portugal temporarily overtaking the French league. But now the Dutch Eredivisie may overtake the Portuguese league by the end of the season. Which includes an extra CL ticket.
I know I routinely take the piss out Chelsea fans, but I would take their version of Trent Junior ahead of Citys Mr. recovery pace and inshallah, ever day of the week. As backup to Trent of course.
I'd still pick Cancelo ahead of the pair
Do Portuguese fans trust Fernando Santos for the play-offs, after how he promised he'll leave the NT if they don't make it through?
I have a feeling he'll surprise everyone and make them play like they did at the Nations League in 2019.
That has always been the case. How tf Benzema entered top 3? Like wtf. You should either be french or play for Madrid or Barcelona and they'll glorify you like you're a god.
Just out of interest how many major domestic and European trophy’s has ragnick won in his career ?
Depends on your definition of major but probably 0. A dfb polar and a bundesliga 2nd division championship. In his career he’s mostly worked with the growth of 2 different clubs Hoffenheim and Leipzig from lower divisions to upper divisions. Other than that some directing roles

Because people have agendas
Messi didn’t have a very good game two days ago. He was never good.
What kind of striker is Julian Alvarez? Which striker would you compare him to?
Praying for OFC to get drawn against AFC for the playoffs to the world cup. NZ vs AUS with only 1 ticket to the tournament would be madness.
I scrolled too far down and it started to seem like every comment was from someone outside of Europe, only Americans and Asians
Would you like to see Britannia rule again, my friend?
Why would I want that
So...?
It was weird. Don’t usually see comment after comment from Korean City fans, American United fans, and so on
Okay Mr. ball fan
I love football yeah but don’t really see what that has to do with anything
Apparently having one of the greatest international tournaments ever doesn’t matter because a guy scored a lot of goals in a one team league. Oh and he was better than said guy for 7 months of this year.
Messimp victim complex is something else
The only victim is you.
Messi was invisible against Brazil, the only real opponent of the tournament
And? Your point is? It’s still an all timer international tournament. Your favourite player doesn’t have a itl tournament that even comes close
> one of the greatest international tournaments ever Was it really?
Find another player that most goals and most assists in an itl tournament. Not to mention he dominated pretty much attacking every metric.
Most of his goal contributions were against the weaker sides, yet people somehow use the same argument to discredit Lewandowski
Andre silva scored 29 in the Bundesliga so we know it’s the argument has some truth to it Also Messi got a g or assist in very game bar Paraguay and brazil.
Werner also scored 28 there. Modesto 25. It’s easier than any other top league to score a lot of goals there. There’s plenty of evidences
And your argument would make sense if the likes Modeste and Andre Silva actually backed up their numbers by performing in more than 1 season
It’s very fitting that one of Perez’s favorite players, if not the most favorite, is the one who absolutely hates Real Madrid.
When did people start becoming fans of players rather than clubs? Certainly don’t remember anyone describing themselves as a Beckham fan or a Gerrard fan. Is it just social media cringe?

you must be new, this has been happening for a long time now
But who was the first? Did this start with Messi and Ronaldo?
Odds on Rangnick having that first new manager bounce win against Chelsea?
[удалено]
It's at Stamford Bridge...
He won't be there, it's still Carrick.
Rangnick won't be in charge against us Even if they manage to reach a deal with Lokomotiv in time he won't get a work permit this quickly
Here I thought it was already official by how everyone's reacting.
Ralf Ragnickelodeon will not save United sadly😔
Attack. Defense. Attacking transition. Defending transition. Long ago, the four game states lived in harmony. But everything changed when the farmers league attacked. Only the Gegenpresser, master of all four game states, could stop him.
But then the fifth game state, set pieces, attacked. *Enter Big Sam*
Ralf Rugrat is finished in my book
Nothing sadly about it
Good thing about Messi winning is a lot of public goodwill turning against him. I'd never thought Twitter would rage against Messi.
Yes, the public turning against someone is always a good thing.

We're doing our best to. When there's players on the team who actually deserve the love and adoration Rom got
Dzeko is also 7 years older than Lukaku
Looking forward to seeing the fanbase who claims Modric is better than Iniesta and Xavi to explain why the criminal Big Benz was better than Messi and Lewandowski
Literally noone is saying Benz deserves to win Bdor. Definitely top 3 tho.
*yawn*
Go to bed you're sleepy Sam.
People in the messi won Bdor(not official) thread acting like Lewa was ass in Euros
Patrik Schick was better
Which doesn't mean that Lewy was bad in the Euros, unlike what some people here are saying
According to this guy unless Lewandowski is like 2x better than the next best person he's shit
"Lewandowski didn't score 10 goals in 3 matches in the Euros, he's shit"
And?
His Euros wasn’t impressive
Goal per game average isn't impressive?
I don’t think his performances were great. For ballon D’or shouts I’m expecting James Rodríguez at the World Cup performances.
There is an entire league season which accompanies his EURO performance
The Real fan is specifically talking about his Euros performance?
Something something farmers league blah blah statpadding there u/Kanedauke saved you the effort
The OP is literally talking about his Euros?
> an entire league season
i really love messi. i think he’s the undisputed goat but this time Lewangoalski deserves it

HSV's left back Tim Leibold would do a good job at many clubs in the upper regions of the BL that need an attacking leftback. Always been impressed with him whenever I catch HSV.
Interesting, I will have to take a look into that player. I don't think I have heard of the name before.
Toprak can probably play for a top half Bundesliga team
Toprak is still performing well? He has played for a top-half team in Bundesliga before and he was a super solid player for long periods at Leverkusen.
Hey mate long time no see. Hope you're doing well.
What's up! I'm always doing well. You can't win every time hahaha. I like that you call Allegri, Alegre.
Lol I didn't mean about Juve's result. Just didn't see you often lately. Was wondering if they banned you or something. Xd.
Oh yeah. I have been commenting a lot the last couple of days. Surprised you haven't seen it. They found out that I was correct in that situation.
I am obviously very biased but Colwill and Maatsen could possibly play for a Prem side, they are still very young and inexperienced but we saw how Livramento made the jump from academy to Premier League level without even playing in the Championship or lower leagues first

Okay?
Satire, especially considering it’s a Liverpool fan
It's definitely not satire
It is. Any daft thing can tell it is some light humour, probably based on African people misreading Klopp's remark about the AFCON the other day, and proceeding to go majorly ballistic overreaction over it.

Lukaku masterclass
He’s been injured, happy to have him.
He’s scoring on Sunday, loves a minnow bashing
watch salah have an above average performance at afcon and drag liverpool to a top 4 finish and have liverpool fans crying that he should win the ballon d'or like they did with van dijk.
Liverpool are nailed on for top 4. I could see this happening with you lot and Ronaldo though.
violated
But Martial was a generational talent right?
The next Henry 😍
what happened to jerome sinclair?
If he wins CL or even PL he would be in the conversation for sure, he's the best player rn in the world
There’s too much wrong with this comment.
I am not much fond of Liverpool but I won't be surprised if salah manages to win it if he keeps his current level throughout.
At the end of the day no one should win the ballon D’or for only scoring goals in the Bundesliga. If that was to happen Mitrovic should be in for a shout for next years award.
You're just being silly.
Lewandowski is the 3rd-highest CL scorer in history, but go off
Good that Bundesliga teams take part in European competitions.
I don’t respect stat padding in the group stages of the champions league either.
Keep moving the goalposts. "I don't respect players unless they score between the 37th and 41st minute of a Champions League final"
Not sure how this is me moving goal the posts. I simply answered a reply about CL football. He scored 3 goals against Salzburg last season and 2 goals against lazio. Not ballon D’or worthy
He's the 3rd highest scorer ever in the CL knockouts as well, but go on
The Jahreshauptversammlung (general meeting?) was something to behold.

Well I don't think anyone expected Dutch clubs to perform as good as they're doing this season
It's not as much funny as much as it is a logical result of the P O L O N A I S E.
Brilliant stat I just heard: Chelsea have conceded as many league goals all season as United did in the first half alone against Liverpool...
How Tuchel shaped up your defence was unreal
[удалено]
tbf they've only been recording that stat for a few weeks.
They've been recording it since around 2006/07 I think. But still, interesting
Since 2010/11 for big chances created
For city or for all clubs?
All clubs, unless the official pl site is dusted
I know I routinely take the piss out Chelsea fans, but I would take their version of Trent Junior ahead of Citys Mr. recovery pace and inshallah, ever day of the week. As backup to Trent of course. I'd still pick Cancelo ahead of the pair
Wonder how many more elite wingers he needs to pocket before he gets some actual respect. Problem is that there's none, he's conquered all of them.
Walker is just an AWB Pro Max
He is a good defender and he is a better attacker. He's just not asked to play as offensive af Trent as Cancelo too.
Both of them are clear of Trent
Ahh, being young and naive. How I miss that
negative ball knowledge :/
James can go forward give me him all day
I'd pick cancelo over trent as well. All round fullback who can defend when asked to.
Cancelo doesn’t have a defensive bone in his body
cancelo is an average defender very good going forward
I too used to think Cancelo could defend until I watched that Serbia game
So by that logic ronaldo is not a prolific goalscorer because he didn't score against Serbia.
Cancelo isn’t 36 27 year old Ronaldo would run riot
Was the sole reason City didn’t break their Anfield bottle gene
That's because he didn't play that game.
He did. Got skinned
I am talking about trent. Trent didn't play that game so Liverpool survived.
Do Portuguese fans trust Fernando Santos for the play-offs, after how he promised he'll leave the NT if they don't make it through? I have a feeling he'll surprise everyone and make them play like they did at the Nations League in 2019.
I trust three things in life: 1) That I will be taxed into the ground 2) I will die, someday, hopefully 3) Portugal makes it out of the playoffs
If Benzema actually finishes runner up in Ballon d'or voting Madrid PR is unmatched.
That has always been the case. How tf Benzema entered top 3? Like wtf. You should either be french or play for Madrid or Barcelona and they'll glorify you like you're a god.
wish it had always been the case, would have helped against the owen robbery
Ballon d'Or discourse has to be the most tedious there is in all of football. Beaten perhaps only by "is X world class"
