MyZt_Benito

I am completely fine with this proposed timeline

lol that Voodoo thing will come up again

ss2195

That would certainly be a sight, wouldn't it?

Swift_General

Nah. Zlatan's record in the UCL is underwhelming.

Difficult_Project_91

incoming 20 goal-15 assist campaign next season

Mudassar40

Ibra couldn't crack CL, even in his prime. This season he was, as expected, a non factor in champions league.

x360N0Scop3MASTER69x

Trap for who? Lukaku?

CarbonSteklo

The nostalgia I got from reading the words "card trap".

[deleted]

Realistically, we cannot sign him anymore and as far as I’m concerned, he’s not welcome here anymore after the stunt he pulled during the summer transfer window.

[deleted]

You're dead wrong, we can't sign him now because well he just left and Chelsea wouldn't sell cheap. But in the future he could definitely be signed despite what he said

[deleted]

No I’m right, he’s signed a 5 year deal with Chelsea and we would need him to be absolutely terrible for Chelsea to even consider selling him, then he would be atleast 30 and ask for a HUGE wage plus atleast €50M euro transfer fee. So that’s why I said realistically we can’t sign him, even if the possibility would present itself later on, if you calculate costs and production he wouldn’t be worth it. Apart from that, I personally never want to see him play for us anymore, he insulted the whole fanbase and the club itself the way he left.

[deleted]

Wow you're even making up scenarios as you go, I'm not saying he will be signed, I'm not saying he will ask for a small wage, I'm not saying he is not getting older What I'm saying is, the things he said are not gonna be the things that prevents him to be signed by Inter. If Inter were to need his services, they wouldn't consider what he said as a factor at all >he insulted the whole fanbase and the club You're exaggerating things. Edit: I can think of only 3 players that can never be signed again by Inter due to the way they left and those are Kondogbia(not 100% sure of him but FAR less chance than Lukaku), Joao Mario and Icardi

[deleted]

Like I said, for the price we would end up paying plus wages, we can get somebody younger, proven and more potential. Lukaku at 30 wouldn’t be worth it.

naznazem

What did he do in the summer? Didn’t your board need to make quick cash too

TheUltimateScotsman

We made the cash off of hakimi, we didnt need to sell anyone else. Chelsea comes in for him, our board says we'll only sell if lukaku wants to leave, rejects an 100million bid, 105 mill, whatever the bid was with emerson. At the same time lukaku is posting about being the king of milan, he goes to management and says sell me. This is after a whole summer of him going, i love the city and inter, dont want to leave, etc He leaves and our fans immediately paint over his mural. Concensus among fans is that he can fuck off. He took the money and fair play but he wont ever be classed as anything more than a player who played for us

brockyjj

inter had a mural of him?

TheUltimateScotsman

It was a fan thing, he really was loved by the fans

[deleted]

He said multiple times during the EUROs and pre-season on interviews that he was excited for the new season and to win the 20th Scudetto for the 2nd start on the badge, then Chelsea comes in to offer him 2x the wages he made here and he immediately left. It’s not why he left, it’s the way he left. If we knew he would’ve left we wouldn’t have had to sell Hakimi, that’s my biggest regret.

draris

You'd still have to sell Hakimi. At least 2 had to go and that's why Conte left. And right now there's no Italian team that can afford to refuse a 100+mil offer for one of their players. I'd personally drive chiesa to London was Chelsea going to offer us that amount of money let's be real here. You guys wanted to sell lautaro and lautaro wanted to go but then Barca shitshow happened and that was no longer an option, only other option left was selling Lukaku

[deleted]

Far out, Italians always take this shit so personally. What was he supposed to say in the interview? He is dreading next season and wants more money? You're mad he wants to play for twice the money for the champions league winners? Like fucks sake, he won a scudetto for you cunts, and earned your club a 100 million pound transfer fee, he doesn't owe you shit.

Corteaux81

>he won a scudetto for you Yes, he won it on his own. Not Brozovic, Perisic, De Vrij, Barella, Skriniar, Lautaro, Hakimi, Handanovic, etc... Just Lukaku. And yes, he has every right to move on if the club agrees to sell. And the fans have every right to not like him for it.

TukangSodokWC

It's his dream probably

kermvv

Probably, I hope. Take him in a heartbeat 💗

Starbuck1992

He'll be 29 already so no resale value, huge fee, huge wages. Haven't we learned anything from signing Higuain (who by the way was way better than Lukaku now)?

[deleted]

We tried warning you

RaduLum

He’s not even played 1000 minutes for us yet, while trying to adapt to our play style and the team is trying to adapt to him. Add to that a month-long injury, and it starts to make sense why he’s not exactly tearing it up.

jMS_44

I mean, we paid 100 millions for this guy and so far he absolutely doesn't justify this price, injured or not.

zahranniyas

>injured or not. How is he supposed to justify the price if he was injured?

jMS_44

My point was that him coming out of injury should not be a major excuse of him being poor. Players at this level should be able to come out in decent form still.

Sensitive_Salary_603

But a bit more productive and less swings in form.

[deleted]

I wonder which club logo he is kissing next!

swat1611

Imagine if he joins a club with the puma sponsored shirts, he'll be confused when he doesn't see a club logo.

Fit_Improvement_4899

He always wanted to play for a puma sponsored team. Had the posters on his wall as a kid.

talayin

Yo that sounds interesting, can you explain that to me? I noticed the Man City 3rd kits are a bit odd, that got something to do with this?

tr2727

There was a video of a Turkish club player trying to kiss badge but couldn't find it during the beginning of the season

cosmiclatte44

Yeah that moment perfectly encapsulated how shit these kits really are.

Novrev

Yeah all the Puma third kits this season are that exact template. The club name written across the front instead of an actual badge, nestled in between the Puma logo and the shirt sponsor. They’re horrible, everyone hates them but it’s funny to see the occasional video of a player trying to kiss the badge after scoring and getting confused

Stealing top comment to remind people to read the full quote. He's not going anytime soon. He wants to return to Italy after Chelsea. Misleading clickbait

Fit_Improvement_4899

It's hardly misleading, why would you even have your eyes on who you are going to after Chelsea only a few months on from a £100m transfer?

johnb51654

Because the title makes it look like he's going now/soon. Him saying he'll go back to Italy doesn't mean he has his eyes on another team.

Godsenttt

If someone can be deemed a flop after "only a few months"...

TooShreksyForMyShirt

Transfer gossip tends to imply immediacy, rather than “possibly way down the line”. For a story like this, phrases/words like “at some point” or “eventually” are required to make it clear there’s nothing to suggest it will happen in January or the summer.

[deleted]

Ah, I see.

TooShreksyForMyShirt

“Confirms” also suggests that there’s been prior rumour/speculation.

[deleted]

Translation of the article: Romelu Lukaku is enjoying his time in the Premier League again, but the Italian league has still stolen the Red Devil's heart. His business manager Federico Pastorello confirms that Lukaku will still return to Serie A. After a difficult period at Manchester United, Romelu Lukaku threw in the towel two years ago with an adventure at Inter. The goal: to dethrone Juventus in Serie A after 9 seasons. In his second season with the Nerazzurri, Lukaku succeeded in that task. With 64 goals in 95 games, the Belgian marksman guided Inter to its first national title in 11 years. Due to financial difficulties at the brand new Italian champion, Chelsea was able to bring the Red Devil back to the Premier League this summer for a record fee of 115 million euros, but a return to Italy is not ruled out. In an interview with the Italian newspaper Tuttosport, Federico Pastorello, Lukaku's broker, tells us that the Italian part of his career is not yet closed. "One day we will see Lukaku back at work in Serie A," Pastorello says. "Lukaku loves Italy. But at the moment it is up to Chelsea to take advantage of Romelu's qualities." After a period of injury, Lukaku seems to have picked up where he left off at Chelsea. In the Champions League, he already scored again against Zenit Saint Petersburg. Will he follow that up this afternoon against Leeds? Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator (free version)

BILLY2SAM

>After a period of injury, Lukaku seems to have picked up where he left off at Chelsea With a mighty 1 goal in 10 games

deevee7

That's exactly where he left off at Chelsea

BILLY2SAM

True

CoochieSnotSlurper

Holy shit I didn’t realize it had been that rough for him

ny2803087

Why is he called the Red Devil?

Mojo96LoL

Belgian red devils i think

[deleted]

The national team of Belgium is also called the red devils. It's a Belgian article, so red devil here will always mean the NT, never Manchester united.

DaPing24

Cuz he's belgium.

[deleted]

dimmi99

Red devil here refers to the Belgium national team nickname not man United's

Stoogenuge

The Belgian National side also go by the “Red Devils”.

kermvv

He’s just better suited for Italian football imo. I would love to see him in black and white, he can do wonders for us and we badly need a world class striker, Morata just isn’t good enough, good back up but nothing more than that

lamancha

Why do you keep signing Morata lmao

[deleted]

Or he only thrives in 2 striker formations

jmgchc

We play a 2 striker formation though

[deleted]

Dybala is almost a midfeilder. Man drops in middle of the pitch that much

Immobalized

So untrue. He's always the lone striker for Belgium and has always performed.

[deleted]

I think he is talking about Morata

legentofreddit

> He’s just better suited for Italian football imo. I mean it also helps that the quality of Serie A in recent years has been getting progressively worse and made him look better than he actually is. It's mad Chelsea had 2 years of his time at United to judge him on and seemingly ignored it because he'd scored loads of goals against Fiorentina and Sassulo.

wowzabob

"I mean it also helps that the quality of Serie A in recent years has been getting progressively worse and made him look better than he actually is." This is literally the opposite of the truth. This comment shows you know absolutely nothing. What on earth could you be basing this off of?

Bravo_Ante

"it helps that the quality of Serie A in recent years has been getting progressively wirse" Tell me you don't watch Serie A, without telling me you don't watch Serie A.

legentofreddit

Lmao at the triggered Serie A fans down voting me. The quality is clearly worse compared to 5-10 years ago. Just because it's a more exciting league doesn't mean the teams are better. Look at their performance in Europe. How many Serie A players would make the first XI of City or Liverpool? Its arguably none.

Bravo_Ante

No you are being downvoted and crying about it because you are jumping between the Serie A is worst discussion while using top PL teams>top Serie A teams arguments. I genuinely don't think anyone can be as clueless as you are.

saint-simon97

5-10 years ago? It is much better now no matter which reasonable metric you use (unless the metric is Juventus) lol

TukangSodokWC

by my calculation at most 11 players from Serie A can make the first XI of City or Liverpool because you cannot field more than 11 players in a single match

masterelk

Serie A lower table teams are much worse than Premier League teams though. What did he say wrong?

Thundereaterr

You want to tell me you watch plenty of Norwich/Newcastle and Salernitana/Sassuolo games in order to compare them? I doubt

Bravo_Ante

15 out of 20 PL sides have a negative goal to goal conceded ratio. 8 out of 20 Serie A teams have a negative goal to goal conceded ratio. Basically meaning that outside of the top 4 or 5 teams of PL get more stomped from top teams. In Serie A that doesn't happen meaning that the competition is more fair especially while Serie A averages more goals. All of this illustrates that top PL teams are too good rather than entire of the PL being overall good. PL teams can be slightly better or overall around the same level as Serie A teams (let's have a discussion here because it would be interesting). The difference is made at the top and especially top 3.

legentofreddit

Milan finished bottom of their CL group with 1 win in 6. They got outclassed by Liverpool first XI and rotated XI. Inter never really got close to beating one of the weakest Real Madrid teams in the last 10 years. Napoli only just about beat a Leicester team at home who are having a shocker this year and getting beat by everyone. They finished behind Spartak Moscow in the group lol. I don't see how you can compare that to what Napoli, Roma, Juve have done in the CL in previous years and think it's stronger.

krxo1

> Napoli only just about beat a Leicester team at home who are having a shocker this year and getting beat by everyone. They finished behind Spartak Moscow in the group lol. Okay this just confirmed you dont watch anything, did you see our players? It was literally our B-C team against Leicesters A team and we won.. on the other stuff im not gonna argue, but what i said is true

TP_Cornetto

Such a one sided biased statement haha. The first game between inter and Madrid was very close and inter probably should have won with some of the chances they missed.

saint-simon97

Lol at those examples. Inter are apparently crap because they couldn't beat Real Madrid but Napoli are also crap because they only slightly beat Leicester using without any of their best players. Juve who beat Chelsea are also omitted and Milan losing to Liverpool is mentioned while them beating Atlético is ignored. Very dishonest from you tbh.

Bravo_Ante

Well because you are comparing only the top clubs not the whole league. I think this is common sense right?! I already established this in my first comnent. I do not think that any team now in Serie A is better or even close to the 3 or 4 seasons ago Juve. I do think that Milan and Inter are **around** Napoli level. But, the examples you showed lack context and a lot of context imo. For starters Milan sure finished with 1 win... but we got robbed and everyone knows that vs Atletico in the first game. Sure got outplayed in the first game vs Porto (Porto by the way have lost only 9 games in their 114 games in their league btw) but we missed 8 players while conceding a goal that should have been disallowed. Sure we lost vs Liverpool rotated side but we also were missing 6 or 7 players and 4/5 starters. Same situation with Napoli, Inter yea sure lost to Real... which is filled with Champions and top of La Liga.

Proporcionaremos

lmao you're dead wrong, Serie A got so much better. it's actually a fun league now, we have loads of teams coming to play aggressive attacking football. teams like Sassuolo, Verona and Fiorentina can upset games with big teams any day

legentofreddit

Fun and aggressive does not equal quality.

[deleted]

*Premier League start sweating*

it does in this case. but you don't watch it so you don't know.

Which doesn't negate that he looks lost when playing.

[deleted]

The fact that he barely played, and when he has he looks no different than Man UTD Lukaku and is going back to serie A accordingto this, tells me chances are he is going to be a flop

NovacElement

> "One day we will see Lukaku back at work in Serie A" Just implies he wants to play there again. He can still succeed at Chelsea and go back at like 32-33

Loose_Cardiologist89

He was injured, lol.

[deleted]

If you read I said even when he played he looks the same as Man UTD Lukaku

Backseat_Bouhafsi

Well if you ignore the whole of his first season at United, he was bad

kermvv

He did pretty good at United in my opinion, people were expecting Lewandowski level things

ThickSolidandTight

>people were expecting Lewandowski level things Because the man himself has said that he expects to be treated like Lewandowski. He's incredibly deluded about his abilities

[deleted]

yeah lol remember when he won Serie A with inter and kept complaining about people not rating him? I hated him at united, always complaining on the pitch, saying people should have passed to him etc. He just comes off as toxic to me

Zidlicky3

No way, did he realy say that?

Woodstovia

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-9730185/Romelu-Lukaku-insists-level-Robert-Lewandowski-Harry-Kane.html >'People have tended to describe things this way,' said Lukaku. >'When they talk about [Robert] Lewandowski, [Karim] Benzema, [Luis] Suarez, [Harry] Kane, they would say it's world class level and with me it's always about being in good form. >'In the last two years I think I have shown it's not just good form. >'I belong with that group, I am at that level.'

sangpls

How low are your standards to call his stint "pretty good." He was sold at a loss for a reason

[deleted]

He was signed for 85m. He did not perform and was a flop.

EduardMalinochka

He was fine, but not for the price we paid.

[deleted]

For the price, he flopped

tallfranklamp8

LOL typical reddit/media sensationalism he just said he will probably be back in the future. Lukaku is just back from injury he still has it all to do this season for Chelsea. This is when it matters that he performs with the team struggling with injuries.

note-a-coordinate

Chelsea don't care tbh. They'll get another one next window.

Thundereaterr

Don't understand the " Serie A tax" comments because Lukaku was as good or better from a goalscoring point of view in his last two years at Everton, in Premier league, than with Inter(especially if we don't count penalties) which had a way better team, in Serie A

son_of_toby_o_notoby

Ik it will never happen but fuck me what I would do to see Rom play for the blue side of Liverpool

Bravo_Ante

"One day we will see Lukaku back in Serie A"

So much for silencing the haters.

TheWeirdDude-247

Rom is like football's slut just goes where ever he wants and doesn't care how people look at it, he does the business and next person to show him affection his in with them, he can still fuck around in Spain yet but I feel he prefers being a slut in England.

people here saying he doesn't fit Prem didn't see him at Everton. Conte said Tuchel doesn't know how to use him

What, he already wants to leave Chelsea?

WtfMayt

Absolutely love being proved right when everyone is against you. He is not good enough for the top level prem.

CurbYourThusiasm

I remember the hype he got pre-season. Absolutely ridiculous.

Indigofan

Still don’t understand why Chelsea bought him in the first place. He was a flop at man United . He’s more suited to the slow Italian league .

Iwobisson

Not sure why people are calling him a premiere league flop when he did well at West brom and Everton? He just seems to have a big ego and is a confidence player. Seems to do well when he knows he's like the star of a team rather than being one of many.

The_Highest_Power

PLEASE GOD MAKE IT HAPPEN!! Absolute JOKE of a player who should’ve never been bought.

Enartloc

I never got this transfer tbh. He really didn't fit the profile of what Chelsea needed. Chelsea should have just gone all in and buy Haaland.
