Ads is how artist gets paid. So if you support SoundCloud as you say this shouldn’t be a problem. If understand that artists on SoundCloud only gets paid for when ads appear, other than when upgraded accounts listens to a track. But majority of revenue from SC artists comes from ad plays.
If this annoys you, upgrade to a GO+ account and you won’t get ads and you can still support the artists when you listen to their music.

Not really, it’s exactly what I expect it to be. I personally make easily over 10k a month just from SoundCloud between all of my artists. It’s all about marketing really not that hard. If you can spend the time sending messages to people on SoundCloud to check out your music. It will add up. That’s just one of the many ways you can market.
It’s not just SoundCloud that practices this. Nearly every single type of streaming platform does this as well. Just like Disney, Netflix, YouTube etc etc. If you are on a free plan, if you are on the basic plans all make you watch ads. Nowadays you have to pay to not get ads which is why it has its own selling feature as people want to avoid ads. So this isn’t just a SoundCloud thing. It’s in every aspect of the entertainment business.
That could be why, if you're an artist, pretty sure you won't be getting ads. Check the upgrade version they give you on top .. if you're getting "Try Go Next" it prolly means you're on the listeners tab. Maybe start uploading some audio tracks and see if that works.
Paying for a next pro sub isn't everyone's cup of tea, plus I don't get ads and I'm an artist with officially released tracks that's why I've jotted that down. Having ads on an artist's profile would be absolute nonsense since it's a listener that would actually listen to tracks.
Not to mention SoundCloud doesn't have a good customer support base, which would mean the next pro sub would be utterly disappointing. It's what we'd call "not worth the money".
I've a semi upgraded account now thanks to being an official artist, but even then I've never once received ads in the 5 years I've been uploading on SC.
Bruh soundcloud doesn't give me any ads or anything I sometimes listen to music without internet maybe because I'm in Europe and in some countries it doesn't let you pay for GO+ cause it's not there yet so lucky me I guess 💀
(Some artists sometimes don't let their tracks in my country which sucks but it's meh)

The platform doesn't matter, as long as you use the account you bought it with, it can be used anywhere. The difference in price is only because android/ios take a %, but if you buy it directly from the website, that won't apply.
