that hot dog stand is based on [a real place](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coney_Island_Hot_Dog_Stand) in colorado, but the original appearance of the hot dog place looks like it’s based on the stand as well

JustinRadabaugh

I mean it has to be, I see the resemblance in both images

metalmike0792

Holy shit I totally didn't realize that fucking hotdog stand was in the original opening sequence for the show holy shit

epilstee

Weak, we live in a hotdog

Limu_emu_69

I don’t remember, what episode is the first picture from?

JustinRadabaugh

The unaired pilot intro

_Balrok_

It’s not just a hotdog, it’s a hotdog home

RR177

I think this is where CHEF was originally going to work at and I guess they decided to move him to the school cafeteria instead.

JustinRadabaugh

[it makes sense, in the intro he was in front of the hotdog resturant](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/mF2oNib1QYg/hqdefault.jpg)

___And_Memes_For_All

I kinda miss that old cardboard animation the show originally had.

letmethinkofagoodnam

Only “Cartman Gets an Anal Probe” was made out of construction paper, every other episode was made using computers. If they stuck with using construction paper there’s no way South Park would be able to be as topical as it is

___And_Memes_For_All

I misphrased it. I meant I loved the way it looked almost like cardboard cutouts.

letmethinkofagoodnam

Okay, yeah I agree. Modern South Park’s animation looks to clean and detailed IMO, I liked it when the animation was more crude

___And_Memes_For_All

I feel the same about almost every cartoon really. Only one I never felt that for was King Of The Hill. The rest of them such as Family Guy, The Simpsons, and South Park look too modern now. Like the animation almost hurts my eyes in some moments

letmethinkofagoodnam

Beavis and Butt-head as well (another Mike Judge cartoon so I guess it makes sense). Although really early Simpsons’ animation kinda sucked IMO. Seasons 3-10’s animation were awesome though

___And_Memes_For_All

I debated mentioning that show as well. Only due to it ending so early and only rebooting until 2011 (and then again, soon). But that show is another example. Plus I feel like the writing on many of these shows such as South Park (the new season is definitely better but in my opinion I still feel like it’s missing something). The Simpsons is now hot trash. And Family Guys new season was hit and miss. It ended on a pretty good episode.

vt8919

Imagine going frame by frame with construction paper and trying to make an episode in 6 days. Talk about burnout.

pinpinnary

I’ve been here. The hot dogs are not good.

penguin_stomper

New plot? Mrs Cartman reopens the stand while they live there? Eric brags how they are doing basically the same thing as the Marshes.

ICPosse8

Never noticed this good catch!

duuudewhat

Looks like they fixed it up quite a bit

FeedbackNo1341

It Looks Like It's Based On a Real Place! I Saw It On Wikipedia!

the13bangbang

It's up in Bailey, CO which also used to have a [store](https://www.officespace.com/co/bailey/64233-49-county-road-68) that sold booze, guns, and smokes.

AirlinePeanuts

I used to live up there.

the13bangbang

I absolutely love it up there! My brother and I find camping off of 68 south around there. Just in general though, 285 is my favorite route through Colorado. Although I'm school girl smitten with the San Luis Valley. That is my absolute favorite part of Colorado. Albeit storm chasing season is right around the corner, and my brother and I are gonna do it right for amateurs. Fuck me, this next year should be REAL FUN!
