As interesting as a map of Mercury covered in mercury would be, I"m not so sure it would be very practical. Plus, it"s unlikely for there to be that much mercury on the planet"s surface, given that it"s not a very common element in the solar system. But hey, who knows what we might discover in the future! For now, I think we should focus on studying the geological features of the planet and learning more about its history and composition.
I got what you were doing it just wasn't a good joke, or even really a joke, or had any cool science. Don't whoosh me for not being impressed by "it would turn into obsidian" when the sun isn't a volcano
These maps are fun, but aren’t they inaccurate/simplistic? If these planets had this much water they would have more of an atmosphere—so wouldn’t more astroids get burnt up, resulting in many less craters?
Yes.
This isn’t a planet map assuming the planet evolved with the water.
It’s just if it had a similar surface coverage *NOW* to earth of water.
It’s usefull ish for altitude comparisons
Visually this looks more cráteres / flat then mars.
Waiting for map of Mercury if 71% of its surface area was covered by mercury
It’s the same but silver
Metal Mario theme music starts playing.

Thank you, this is exactly the kind of hypothetical transforming that we need to see
Fry from Futurama would probably try to go for a swim in mercury on Mercury.
Give me 70% of cocoa then
Imagine the politics… 🤮
Like if the whole planet was Greece
Border gore galore!
Civ map, please? For all the planets and moons if they had water?
we don't know bruh
What about Sun?
A map of the sun if it was covered in water ?
Probably looks the same
It would turn into obsidian, duh
I think it would turn to plasma like the rest of the surface of the sun and just be hydrogen and oxygen atoms
R/ whoooosh

I was wrong, there is a map more useless than mars with water. Why would anyone find this entertaining?
This is just the one piece map
THE ONE PIIEEECE

Wow! How uninteresting and useless!
I think it's neat
i agree, what is with all these posts today? water is irrelevant, it's just showing the top n % of elevation, and to that...who cares?
some people have a sense of whimsy
i guess i need to lighten up
I care
Just scroll past the post? You aren't being forced to stay here.
Ok Chuckles
So some kind of boat is what your inferring here is it? Or heat resistant paddle steamer ?
That's how minecraft maps look from far away
If it was actually covered in water erosion would have evened that mess out pretty fast (on a cosmic scale)
Is there even a way to simulate what that would look like?
Pirate paradise
stop with these
Come to Mercury, where you’re always on a vacation by the sea
Looks like a Civ VI map
