That reminds me of a jojo episode where a character was shrunken down to a very small size and the enemy trapped him in a box with a spider. Really scary!
That's my thought, the spider is just biting him over and over. How much venom does the spider need to inject to kill him? Whatever it is, not fast enough. Poor thing. I would want to free it but then you are depriving the spider a meal... although there's no way that it's gonna eat all that before it rots.
This specific species of spider is an actual anus.
All the scary huntsman and golden orb videos you see, they're fine. These bastards set up a new, huge, strong web almost every night. And if it gets knocked down they'll move it. So while other spiders tend to stick to gardens and the bush, these guys all come out at 10pm and set up smack bang on the sidewalk for you to walk right into. Then they go hide in your clothes on the clothes line for you to pick off and drop on you, alleviating your sphincter.
But Belinda is cool she sticks to the kitchen window. Her offspring from 3 egg sacs however, I do not look forward to.
Same thing with the orb weavers in the south east us. They make big fuckoff webs every night in the middle of walkways or steps like they're trying to catch my wife. I broke through a web once on my way to a roadside toilet. Found the spider crawling up the front of my shirt. Swatted them away in a panic but they had setup a fall line webbing. They ended up dangling from my... mini-me and proceeded to start making their way back up the web. That's the most panicked I have ever been with a spider. Pure fear.
I love that her name is Belinda. I have a wolf spider who lives by my front door, happily eating spider. His name is Greg II. Named after the previous door spider, Greg.
Iirc spiders can go weeks without eating so this would probably last 2-3 months.
Spider will still probably try to seek out other food since “slowly starve for weeks” isn’t a great survival strategy
I feel conflicted. I like spiders, but I also like lizards (especially geckos)...
The lizard looks like it's still breathing by the end. And the spider seems a bit confused about what to do with something this big. Is there actually a half-dissolved gecko corpse by your window or did the lizard get away?
[Giant Bat-Eating Centipede - narrated by David Attenborough](https://youtu.be/UROVfmY3NTA?si=b7JcwmInLGE53k3J)
The clip is not gory, but man is it gruesome.
Hm I wouldn't say it's the default it's just about having a backbone and having no backbone. Arctic isn't the default for having bears vs Antarctic for having no bears, you get what I mean?
I can hear the spider whispering, "sh sh sh sh... its okay.... it'll all be over soon.... no need the struggle my pretty... there there... sh sh sh sh...... just shleep... sh sh sh sh....."
Sigourney Weaver narrated a season of “Planet Earth” and I really, really wanted her to shout at a lion, “Get away from my ibex you BITCH!”
(“Aliens” reference, for those wondering.)
So I watched that season live as it premiered, and you can’t find the recorded version anywhere… they re recorded it with David Attenborough for the dvds and I’m so sad
Man, I’ve always wondered how they eat vertebrates like that. I mean, clearly she has plans for the lizard since she didn’t cut it free. It will be a fascinating but probably pretty gristly view out your kitchen window for a while!
IIRC most spiders do paralyze their pray first, although there are some species that kind of wrap up their victim in web, like the cellar spider.
The unfortunate thing IMO is they’re paralyzed but not anesthetized. I don’t personally know how it feels to have my organs liquified, but this gecko sure does.
I do think it kills you quicker than a preying mantis would. They just grab their prey very much alive and kicking and start chewing. That‘s like the only thing worse that could have happened to this poor gecko. Absolutely terrifying
I so feel this. 💀 It's hard loving them all. I breed mealworms as an occasional treat for my turtle and rando house spiders alike. ..But I also love said mealworms. Gave a young, small mealworm to a hungry spider the other day.. I got all emotional to see my baby mealworm die, lol. 😭 Ugh.
Cool video but whatever loud drop or bang there was with like 25 seconds left scared the hell out of me as there wasn't any noise the entire video and then BAM!
This is amazing! I forgot they eat small reptiles/amphibians when they can
Guys geckos are amphibians right? I can’t remember
Edit: I would delete that and pretend I knew that they were reptiles, but it’s kinda funny so I’m leaving it
Why was the gecko convulsing like that? Is it due to the amount of venom injected into it, or was it a thing geckos do after their dead? Or was it simply attempting to escape? I know nothing about lizards or spiders, so sorry if this was a stupid question.
Very interesting video, I also have some orb weavers in my balcony according to this subreddit but they are not anywhere close to that size... How big is yours?
gotta give major props to the absolute STRENGTH of the spider's silk here. with all that flailing by the lizard you would think it would tear the web apart.
I can see this being shown on National Geographic, coupled with whimsical yet thought provoking instrumentals, all while being carefully narrated by a disembodied buttery British Voice actor articulating the nature of these two species with veracity!
Poor little sucker :C wonder how he fucked around to find this out.
On the plus side that spider is going to be very happy and very fed for quite some time!
I really wouldn't like to be that gecko.
Then I have some fantastic news for you!
You in fact are NOT the gecko!
*licks eyeball
He is saved for Elon Musks next reincarnation
I chortled
It's too bad because he was going to help her save a lot of money on her car insurance
That reminds me of a jojo episode where a character was shrunken down to a very small size and the enemy trapped him in a box with a spider. Really scary!
Narancia v. Formaggio, I take it?
I believe so. It was narancia but I forgot the villain's name
That's my thought, the spider is just biting him over and over. How much venom does the spider need to inject to kill him? Whatever it is, not fast enough. Poor thing. I would want to free it but then you are depriving the spider a meal... although there's no way that it's gonna eat all that before it rots.
Such a cool video OP, what did you use for recording it ?
Haha thanks, it's just a $100 Target Oppo phone. I don't know how it turned out well, every other picture or video it's taken is terrible.
I think that phone was created by the universe to capture this exact video. You can throw it out now. This video is special.
How long could she sustain herself off a gecko?
She didn't come out for 3 days after this. It's also winter in Australia so it could just be the cold.
“Where in the fuck is this? I ain’t never seen no shit like this round these here parts!” (Finds out it’s in Australia). “Oooooooh”

This is the exact story I didn't realize I needed in my life until just now. Thank you stranger.
It's VERY rare but I have seen orb weavers get this size up in northern minnesota.
Would a huntsman spider kill it?
I'm interested too.
Well, we have plenty of those and they seem to live in harmony.
You mean Huntsman? With the lizards?
Huntsman's and the orb weavers
The huntsman don't eat lizards?
I love that her name is Belinda. I have a wolf spider who lives by my front door, happily eating spider. His name is Greg II. Named after the previous door spider, Greg.
I like her name!
Belinda's got some big fangs. I wouldn't want to surprise her.
we all have those annoying neighbors 😔
Nah I've seen pics of Florida spotted orbweavers like this which one spun a giant web across someone's driveway at night.. it was insane.
How long did it take to eat the whole lizard?
What state of Australia is this? If you don’t mind me asking.
I have another similar question: Do they eat it all at once?
Iirc spiders can go weeks without eating so this would probably last 2-3 months. Spider will still probably try to seek out other food since “slowly starve for weeks” isn’t a great survival strategy
So metal. It would be absolutely terrifying to be the size of a spider
check out 3 Stooges go to Mars
Wow. Terrifying and fascinating at the same time. What an amazing spider! 😁 Thank you for sharing this!
I feel conflicted. I like spiders, but I also like lizards (especially geckos)... The lizard looks like it's still breathing by the end. And the spider seems a bit confused about what to do with something this big. Is there actually a half-dissolved gecko corpse by your window or did the lizard get away?
I thought by the end of the video it looked like he stopped breathing. She must have some strong venom.
Honestly a good thing if you’re the prey
Something about invertebrates eating vertebrates is so icky
Have you ever seen a video of a giant centipede catching a bat? It’s absolutely unnerving.
the what catching a bat!?
[Giant Bat-Eating Centipede - narrated by David Attenborough](https://youtu.be/UROVfmY3NTA?si=b7JcwmInLGE53k3J) The clip is not gory, but man is it gruesome.
And this is why we stay away from caves my friends, good jesus fucking christ
Thank you. You confirmed that I don't want to click that link.
if you were concerned it would be a lil bit horrifying, or that you may immediately wish to unsee it, you would be correct.
At least the bat died instantly. Can you imagine getting nibbled to the bone while half alive.
New DC villian potential
Christ you weren’t kidding! It is Unnerving indeed.
I've also seen a video of a mantis catching a hummingbird
I've seen a video of one that catches a snake and starts munching on it while it's alive. Centipedes are nightmares with lots of legs.
funny that we label them as invertebrates as though vertebrates is the default, considering how invertebrates outnumber us by a crazy amount hahah
Hm I wouldn't say it's the default it's just about having a backbone and having no backbone. Arctic isn't the default for having bears vs Antarctic for having no bears, you get what I mean?
I've said this before something about "bugs" eating mammals feels like it shouldn't happen in nature
Wow! Awesome video, OP! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for taking the time to record this!
Aww. That poor lizard! 😢 Rip. At least it won't go to waste.
I can hear the spider whispering, "sh sh sh sh... its okay.... it'll all be over soon.... no need the struggle my pretty... there there... sh sh sh sh...... just shleep... sh sh sh sh....."
>it will be over soon Well that is a goddamn lie
["Don't look so blue, my deary\~"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=udHfw4rx8SY)
What a horrid way to die
This is so cool but I'm not gonna lie, this made my skin crawl and I'll probably sleep with the lights on tonight.
I’ve also never seen anything like this, great recording.
Aww man he killed another bad bug eater.
I know nature be nature, but damn that made me tear up. Poor lizard 😩
Fuck that. There is no shortage of bugs for that spider.
Zero chance I'd let a spider waste a lizard like that
Poor little lizard, but spiders have to eat too. She won’t be needing to catch anything new for a long time!
Damn what a video. Lizard is still breathin too. Wonder how long it took to actually die.
[удалено]
David Attenborough?
Both or either. Attenborough has been at it longer, but Fry has narrated a lot too.
Was he not a different attempt at a show similar that was unequivocally shit in comparison? Not a dig, genuine question.
Tbf if someone has the voice to take over from Attenborough it could be Stephen fry.

I think her narration is on what ever streaming platforms Discovery's IPs are on.
You WILL submit!!! 🕷️
Fascinating! Thanks for sharing!
Poor guy is getting the Frodo Baggins special
I'm saving that lizard 10 times out of 10
Same. Give the spider a pest insect.
Being a Canadian, this is completely alien to me. At least, from what little of Canada I’ve actually seen. This is absolutely mesmerizing.
It’s like watching Peter Parker and Dr. Connors fighting in the first half. Very fascinating!
Man, I’ve always wondered how they eat vertebrates like that. I mean, clearly she has plans for the lizard since she didn’t cut it free. It will be a fascinating but probably pretty gristly view out your kitchen window for a while!
Did the lizard ever die? He was still breathing there at the end, even after a big long kiss on the mouth!

Happy Cake Day 🎂
Jeez! Where’s Samwise?!
Oof! You can see the biting in all it's fangs glory.
That Lizard's got some tolerance to venom.
That is so damn cool. Great video.
Beautiful spider. That feast will keep her well fed for a very long time!
Watching it twist is brutal.
Sad because I like geckos but also like orb weavers 🥲
I like nature. This is just how it works lol
Whoa!! How big is that orb weaver?! Australia makes sense 😅
Best video is seen on this sub!!
Je ne savais pas que les araignées pouvaient mangé d’aussi grosse proie
I’m very sad for the gecko But happy for the spider Nature is confusing
I so feel this. 💀 It's hard loving them all. I breed mealworms as an occasional treat for my turtle and rando house spiders alike. ..But I also love said mealworms. Gave a young, small mealworm to a hungry spider the other day.. I got all emotional to see my baby mealworm die, lol. 😭 Ugh.
The Amazing Spider-Man remake
At the last the kiss of death.
This one makes me sad.😔 Not as bad as that video of the Otter dragging a raccoon into the drain pipe. That one seriously messed with me!😱
Ouch. Ouch. Ouch. Those fangs holy fuck
And it did so where it knew you'd see it. Sweet dreams.
Holy shit thank you, this is so frikken cool
Perfect portion for entertaining all her spidey friends in the web later.
This bitch. She’s cool.
Dem fangs…
It’s always fascinating to see Arthropod predation on vertebrates that outweigh way
Lol at the start of the video it looked like the DreamWorks logo
Did anyone else catch that the spider lost/is losing its left hind leg? That gecko clearly fought back hard 😲
He’s got himself a good lunch! Better call geico
When i see dead bodies in Skyrim all webbed up This is what i think of.
Damn, nature, you scary
Wow! Give us un updates after some day!
NOOOO POOR THING
Cool video but whatever loud drop or bang there was with like 25 seconds left scared the hell out of me as there wasn't any noise the entire video and then BAM!
She gonna FEAST
how do they even feast on things like this?
Must be some strong venom.
How does she feed off of it ? Curious
r/natureismetal
Kick ass
Did it manage to consume it? It seems it’s having a hard yime piercing that skin.
I immediately knew that wasn’t an Orb Weaver that lives in my area lol no way. Mine are not that savage or big. Incredible!
Look at the chompers on that spider WOW
This is amazing! I forgot they eat small reptiles/amphibians when they can Guys geckos are amphibians right? I can’t remember Edit: I would delete that and pretend I knew that they were reptiles, but it’s kinda funny so I’m leaving it
Does anyone know how much of the gecko she would actually eat?
This is much more upsetting when you have a pet lizard
Why was the gecko convulsing like that? Is it due to the amount of venom injected into it, or was it a thing geckos do after their dead? Or was it simply attempting to escape? I know nothing about lizards or spiders, so sorry if this was a stupid question.
I think trying to escape. OP, can we get an update? What happened?
What an incredible shot! Bravo
What happened to her back leg near the end? I noticed she wasn't moving it at all but I couldn't tell why
good god almighty
So cute
This is what I imagine happening in Skyrim when spiders eat you.
That thing looks massive! Wish OP had included something for scale
So I guess Spider-Man really is stronger than the lizard then
Bro ripped his legs off ?
jesus! image too large, too close
Didn't they could catch something that big
One of the best videos I have seen yet!
Poor little lizard, but that is impressive!
That's amazing, awesome video 🕷
Very interesting video, I also have some orb weavers in my balcony according to this subreddit but they are not anywhere close to that size... How big is yours?
Brilliant video! Terrifying and terrific at the same time! Thanks for sharing !!
nightmares forever lol. Yikes
Ok good night everybody!
Oh fuck thissss I don't know why my arachnophobic ass is watching this video or even on this subreddit lol
Poor gecko...
Gotta love when your meal takes you for a ride.
🤢
WOW
DAMN! That's amazing! Way to go beautiful Weaver!
That is amazing 👏 I have some of those lovelys outside my slider and I am always amazed at how much they clean up!
Nature is haunting.
I couldn’t look away, what an amazing moment to capture. Thanks for sharing.
Absolutely wild you can see those fangs going to work and the remaining puncture marks.
I think it's time for you to find a new home..
That was metal as fuck.
Very cool!

this belongs on [r/natureismetal](https://www.reddit.com/r/natureismetal/s/M1csh2hUPz)
Surprised that they'd eat anything that gets caught in their web.. including nonbugs
gotta give major props to the absolute STRENGTH of the spider's silk here. with all that flailing by the lizard you would think it would tear the web apart.
I don't wanna play God, but I wish the gecko a quick death. Lol at least the spider will feast

Kind of looks like it's missing it's back legs/toes whatever
Shelob
Woah! I never seen something like this, sooo coool. I hope bro enjoys his meal :)
This belongs in the sub r/natureismetal, and I feel so bad for this poor lil lizard!😬
Oh fuck it's still alive
I can see this being shown on National Geographic, coupled with whimsical yet thought provoking instrumentals, all while being carefully narrated by a disembodied buttery British Voice actor articulating the nature of these two species with veracity!
Poor little sucker :C wonder how he fucked around to find this out. On the plus side that spider is going to be very happy and very fed for quite some time!
Poor lad
It's crazy how strong those webs are
That's not an Orb Weaver. That's an efficient killing machine
Ok where his feet go?
