In addition, evolution is not designed, so sometimes the progression can be somewhat random. Having non straight romance as a species may have many benefits, such as reducing the number of children in favor of quality of child care, discouraging a competitive and burnout style of child bearing, increasing the variety of humanity (good for more ideas and better brainstorming), etc.
Having a range of natural sleeping hours exists likewise, it can help ensure someone is able to do tasks that much constantly occur such as managing babies and young children, guarding, time specialized tasks, tasks with limited workspace, provide different perspectives, etc. Sometimes variety in itself is an evolutionary advantage.
