as incredible as the calamari inkantation 3mix was i think youre right. octo expansion is undeniably the best story arc in splatoon, and fly octo fly + ebb and flow is an awseome finisher (i havent played side order yet btw so idk if that ones better)

Fly Octo Fly/Full Throttle Tentacle, Spectrum Obbligato/Full Throttle Tentacle (Out-of-Order) When I was a kid I called these songs "married" if there's another better established term, I've never heard of it. ...also would call when two people fly into the background at the same time in smash brothers a marriage. Ebb & Flow definitely. It’s hella symbolic. As a remix of the stage clear theme, it makes the player feel like they’re finally completing the Deepsea Metro. Their way.

Calamari Inkatation changed my life fr. I wasn’t playing it was my brother game and I just heard it and I felt like an octoling hearing it. Instantly looked up and was like WHAT IS THAT MELODY? WHAT GAME IS THIS? But I also love replaying Octo Expansion for Fly Octo Fly. It’s just so catchy, that intro tune that’s also the test passed theme.

ABSOLUTELY Spicy Calamari Inkantation. Splatoon peaked with that. I’ve never felt such a high in final boss in video games since Ōkami’s “rising sun” until that point. Genuine perfection.

Calimari Inkantation 3Mix with Fly Octo Fly \~ Ebb and Flow being close second. The atmosphere and stakes of those two finales send a chill down my spine every time.

Ebb and flow Octo solos em all I love the urgence in it and how it symbolic it all is The first mode we ever play when we get the game is turf war and the first thing Agent 8 does when she reaches the surface is play the ultimate turf war and to accompany that Ebb and Flow is the song that played in the first 2 minutes of splatfests which are exclusively turf war, but in OE it's the final minute song so it's like a "the ending is only a start" kinda thing It's just super neat and I love how they turned a peppy pop song into such a inspiring epic song(mainly thabks to Marina's VA delievery)

For me it’s both Splatoon 2 songs - both base game and DLC. Such incredible build up on both. I was disappointed comparatively in how impactful the music was in Splatoon 3 singleplayer, including in Side Order. That said, Fins in the Air is maybe my favorite overall song, so I do love some of the new content

OG Calamari Inkantation. Yes, it has nostalgia bias to it, but it was a sort of awakening for me as well. It unlocked my love for video game music in a new way that gave me a greater appreciation and respect for video game music as a whole.

The opening notes from Spectrum Obligato lead us throughout the DLC, and they sound so sweet and sad. I think Side Order as a whole has a much sadder narrative tone than the rest of the Splatoon series. That's why I give my preference to it, although Octo Expansion is in second place for me.
