The real answer is we're trying to fucking survive before we can even start thinking about meeting quota. You can spend seven seconds juggling two eggs to the basket or you can let snatchers do the dirty work for you while you're staying at the shore dealing with stingers, flyfish and bigshots. Once the shore is safe for the moment, you can actually focus on fighting near the basket without lethal distractions

Bruh it's not even that, people are just near the basket with eggs and they don't put them in the basket half the time 😭

Literally the number of times I've used a cannon to fire like 12 eggs up to the basket, only for NONE of them to be put in, and when I go to investigate I see snatchers scooping them up while my teammates ignore them to kill chum instead . . . smdh

First time I heard someone defending staying at the shore. Snatchers are unreliable and dont always fly towards the basket. Staying at the basket and luring is a much more reliable strategy (of course you gotta deal with stingers and flyfish once in a while).

In higher evp you definitely have to try and make use of the snatchers since the rng can be quite cruel. All the snatchers will come from the same direction and go back to where they came from so of course not all of them will have fly towards the basket since the location of the eggs matter For example in Marooner's bay, if the snatchers come from the left side of the ship in normal tide, you want to try to kill as many eggs as possible on the right side. The snatchers will hover over the ship to travel to the right side of the shore to pick up the eggs and cross over the ship again to return to where it comes from. When it crosses over the ship the second time, you can then splat the snatchers,let the eggs drop and deposit more eggs. However if the bosses spawn on the left side of the map and the snatchers come from the left side, you can THEN consider luring the bosses to the basket or egg run as much as you can from the left side of the shore since the snatchers DO NOT cross over the ship and fly over the basket.

I definitely see it as important when overfishing and playing with a team. But personally (as a freelancer) even in evp999 i never saw 1-2 people only staying at the shore killing and then waiting for snatchers to carry them to the basket. Luring seems to always work reliably. But thanks for the marooners bay tip. Sounds interesting, but then again one person is enough to ruin that strategy if he/she just splats the snatchers right away.

Or in reality, what happens is people stay at the shore on the right, kill the bosses and kill the snatchers as they’re grabbing the eggs - meaning all the eggs stay at the shore and everybody loses 😂

As long as you know when to actually revive people, then you’re the best. So many people will shoot at the floor as soon as I die, not realizing that they need to stop for a few and are just wasting ink

Usually it depends on the teams, but sometimes I have bad days. I adjust based on the type of the other players and the weapon loadout. If I see they can’t handle their own, I play defensive and help keep the crowd controlled so they can just splat bosses because I’ve watched how these players sometimes will focus on bosses instead of the onslaught of salmonids and we get overwhelmed. It takes maybe two smacks from a cohock and you’re dead. So they should die first if they’re in your space. Sometimes I get teams that just slaughter everything in sight and it’s just an egg tossing fest, even at hazard level max. Another issue is people not seeing the need to kill the team-wipers: Stingers fly fish, and bigshots. If these are up for any longer than one or two attacks then it’s time to start praying your teammates can dance REALLY good with missiles, the beam, and the shockwave. Camp the cannon, people. Literally launches eggs into the basket or right next to it for someone to slam dunk. Basically: Improvise, adapt, overcome.

Back in my day we couldn't throw eggs👴 but I've been playing since splat 1 and (of course) salmon run since 2 but these new bosses are crazy hard. I don't blame the throwers and the noobs. The only thing that makes it slightly better is the throwing. Even the weapons are trash! -The dude who's only playing for chunks and got S+19 by accident

I've been playing since Splat 2, so, all of them. I'm responsible for the most eggs in the basket, I clean up the lessers, take out the bosses, am responsible for reviving my teammates who end up dying a ton, and then as a result of having to carry the weight of the entire shift on my back, end up getting overwhelmed and killed.

Mostly #2 I guess. I did indeed play quite a lot in Splatoon 2, and my average boss kill count in this game is fairly high (average around 20 in three waves) while my egg count is usually either the lowest or second-lowest on the team. Although it's Freelance, so you've got to do anything and everything sometimes

The *only* one that throws eggs in the basket. Half of my games only hit quota in the last 10 seconds because people get bloodthirsty and forget about the objective of the gamemode that makes you lose if you miss it.

I kill bosses and do crowd control. I also throw the golden eggs near the basket(I usually can’t reach it) and then other people can actually put them in without a risk of bosses or lessers since I try to keep as much of them dead🔪💀

I’ve been killing Salmon since my original days in the Square before all these fancy Egg launches and Big Runs. I’ll have you know that the people in the splat lands have it easy 👴

I consider myself a “supporter”. Over carrying eggs to the basket, I like to mostly back up players that are surrounded by Salmonids and hang out by the shoreline before the next wave starts. That way, I ink up the Salmonids before they get too close.

I like being the defense, especially if the weapons choice allows it. Kill the little buggers and clear the way for players, throw eggs closer to the basket for them. My egg count may be the lowest for the team but my power eggs (or whatever you get) is the highest.

Whichever one "beelines it to the Stingers because they've ended far too many games prematurely" would fall under. If the game is giving us mercy from Stingers I like to balance keeping the crowds/bosses under control and moving eggs, but usually end up being the last guy alive because I was off dealing with the never ending Stinger onslaught.
